Don't go into the cosmetic section if you're a WoC, no one will help you and the employees will go about their conversations and not acknowledge you at all. How is it that I made my way to the Bare Minerals section and no one tried to help me? Oh that's right, I'm not white. I love the Origins and Impulse Beauty ladies in the cosmetic department. Simmi is always so helpful. Everything else about this store is a complete mess. I've heard managers yelling at employees in front of customers. Not a way to run a store! If you want your employees to be high achievers, I can assure you, yelling is not the way to go. The dream is over! Or, maybe I arrived too early? "Get these dispirited employees some caffinated beverages!!!" Geritol? Transfusions? However, perhaps it was because it was the first day of October and these employees were already forced to put up Christmas decorations? "Where's that Christmas cheer, people?" I was on a mission to get to the third floor. Not easy. On the second floor, the escalator is broken. There's a sign. It states one should take the elevator in "Mens Shoes" (That's right. No apostrophe for Men's Shoes.) One is supposed to somehow know where the "Men's Shoes" department is located. I didn't. There's no hint. While searching for it, employees breezed by and not one greeted me. One guy was shuffling along in dirty shoes and a shirt that was definitely not ironed, nor even tucked completely into his wrinkled shabby pants. Good show! Actually, I was relieved HE didn't say "Hi". 《CREEPY!》 After locating the elevator, I arrived at the 3rd Floor. I wanted to look at the mattresses. Wow! Many, many beds. Not much information about how they are constructed. None at all. There are some broken down stand-up displays, but they are incomplete. Skeletons...with the pertinent information sections gone missing. Great! It would have been greater if someone had offered assistance. Not a soul in sight. Having shopped the competition, it was quite evident that the prices are wayyyy higher. Why? Just because it's Macy's? Not one mattress was on sale or had a special price. So, that was enough Macy's for me. As I was escaping from the farthest reaches of Macy's Mattress Mayhem, I noticed a guy in a cheap suit mucking about at the cash register station...or, whatever it's called? As is the custom at Macy's, he didn't greet me. This ever-alert employee failed to even notice I was in his department. On my way out, the down escalator was working. Yayyy! Things were looking up...or down. Stopping at the "Mens Room", I couldn't help noticing that, again, no apostrophe for "men's" "Macy's" gets an apostrophe (except on their Employment Office sign) but, the men will have to find relief without one. Lancome Counter at Macy's Southcenter.... The ladies who work there are helpful, sweet, knowledgeable and gave me great customer service! I had a return (I had been there the day before and they lady that helped me was very nice, but unfortunately the color was the wrong one) and at 1st they didn't think they had the right color in stock, so she made up samples for me and offered to order it online and get me the GWP deal on line as well. Last minute they found the 1 left they had in my color, but because of the GWP online, they offered to make me up something, which they did....and it was perfect! To me good customer service is when I leave with what I came for one way or another, great customer service is when you leave with what you came for, feel good about the money you spent and feel attended to... Macy's in California was the first credit card I ever opened... more than 45 years ago. Have been a faithful customer all these years... today I went to return a dress that I purchased online, 6 months ago. Not worn, tags intact and with receipt and was told it was not returnable. Past their 90 day return policcy.. this is a new policy to me.. I will not be shopping at Macy's any longer. They have no loyalty to their customer, no customer service and no one on the sales floor to assist.., management is invisible , and store is filthy. I will shop anywhere else. Went to Macy's at Southcenter Mall Tukila, a young woman by the name of Istabraq was unprofessional and rude. She didn't acknowledge my presence, did not say hello nor offer to help me. When I presented a coupon from a mailing, she asked me where I got it? Told her a mailing, said there wasn't a scan. However, every other cashier offered directly on the screen a choice of additional discounts. She did not, the store was quiet, after 10 pm. No other customers except my daughter and I, at the time. She acted as if she didn't care that I thought she was rude. My daughter and I chose to go to another cashier, this one was much friendlier I went to another cashier. I have been a cardholder customer for over 20 years. People like Istabraq should not work for the public, definitely non customer facing job for her. Macy's is kind of like a mecca for mom's with strollers and blissful brides... a sort of nirvana-esque state seems to envelope these women as they enter Macy's and if you stay there long enough you'll see them walking trance like into each department cooing over the new shoes she's about purchase or gabbing about which plate ware is more appropriate for their weddings. So naturally I love to go to Macy's just to witness the true wonder that is social interaction. Anyways, my experience here was pleasant... spending most of my time in the cook ware section I picked up numerous lovelies a la giftcard I received for my birthday. The staff were pleasant and honestly seemed to care if I was finding everything OK and were more then happy to assist me in my search of the perfect measuring cup. Macy's used to have a powerful brand and you knew exactly what to expect, decent prices, great merchandise, and good service. The service is not what it used to be. I have the hardest time returning items and it's so irritating that you have to go to specific departments to make returns. When you get to the right department the employees act like its torture to make the return and find very reason they can to find something wrong with your item to not do the return. Why is the Plus Size Women's Dept on the lower level?? When I looked at the direction signs hanging above the escalator, the arrow pointed upstairs for the Womens Dept. When I got up there and couldn't find the plus area I asked the lady in the petite section. She told me it's down 2 levels. What?? I asked her why. Well, according to the snitty woman, "it's been down there for 20 years!" I then went to the office to complain!! The woman that greeted me was extremely nice and listened to my concerns with respect. She stopped another woman and had me explain my concerns with her. Suddenly a man, who introduced himself as the store manager, butted in and told me there was no room on the 2nd floor for the plus size dept. I told him about the sign at the escalator and said, I'm a woman so when I see the sign to go up to the women's dept I expect all the women's departments to be there. I didn't expect to be told to go to floors down." I told him this is discrimination!! Apparently, fat woman don't count!! As a woman who wavers between regular sizes and plus sizes it is not convenient for me to shop between the 2nd floor and the basement floor. I usually shop online because it is quite a drive for me to get to a mall. Regardless of how I shop in the future, whether it be online or in store, I will not be shopping a Macy's. read more

I mostly have an issue with their make up area. No help anywhere at all. There were plenty of ladies working the area but no one would come to help me. They must of been short staffed or did not care. I was standing at the Inglot counter for a good 20 mins and NO ONE came to help or ask me if I needed anything. I could tell that they noticed me but choose to "look" busy or not care. If I could simply just grab what I needed that would have been fine but their products are kept in drawers...how am I suppose to know where to even begin searching for the product I was looking for! The star ratings on this one is hard. The level of service started out in my opinion bad. I came in for three purposes. One pay the bill done no problem there. They had jeans on sale super cheap sale been going on for a few days so I wasn't expecting to find my size 30 x 30. And I didn't no problem there. On to my 3rd item buy a JA Hinkles Ceramic cookware open stock. At first i was really happy with this department it was large had more offerings than my hometown store which is pretty much a last act department. Looked a round for the brand didn't find it. Looked for help didn't find it either. Eventually i spot two red tagged associates. Asked for help. Instead of one of them helping me. They pawned me off to someone else which took about 5 minuets to find. Unfortunately this person didn't have a tag on. She saved me as a happy customer. She informed me the cookware is going back because they relocated and didn't have room. She went back to the storage three times pulling out pieces for me to consider. Found one. She then tells me JA Hinkles are exempt from the additional off sale. However she was able to price match Macys.com price. And explained why and why the price is a $2 more. But I can live with this got a piece I wanted and didn't have to wait for it to ship. After writing this I changed it from 3 stars to 4. read more

I was FINALLY able to get a hold of someone after going back into the macys store and having them redirect me to someone. They did give me a refund for the protection plan I never needed in the first place, but I will definitely no longer buy any furniture or mattress from macys... it's too much of a hassle. read more

This Macy's looks like a slightly better Forever 21. Clothing is tossed everywhere, their shoe department is so pathetic looking and the customer service here is poor. I had not been to this Macy's in over a year but went there with my sister last night to look at some shoes. This particular location had a horrible shoe section. I should have honestly walked out when I saw how wrinkled the sales guys pants were. They were a good reflection of the service to come, including having to wait a good half hour for someone to bring shoes and more time for someone to run the cash register. We were told that the "back was a mess" so, they couldn't find the shoes we needed and that they were understaffed (even though there were three employees and only 4 customers that I could see). read more

First of all, Macy is an amazing store. Good prices and store in general. But this location made me feel uncomfortable and as if I was being judged. I only stepped into Macy at the Tukwila location because we had reservations at a Restaurant near by, we wanted to find a good birthday gift and not even one employee has greeted us or asked us if I needed any help in the section of handbags and wallets. Most of the employees will try to help you if you let them know you want help. If you don't, we try not to be intrusive and bother you, for the most part. We had GREAT experience with a woman in bedding. We had purchased a new bed, and needed all new bedding. We ended up with 800TC white bedding, new down comforter, pillows, duvet cover and a sham. She was very helpful and reminded us of a family member. Very sweet...I wish I could remember her name...but I will definitely be going back when we are in need of new bedding. Mattress shopping is up there with getting my tooth pulled but my experience at the Macys home store was actually educational. I forget his name, but the fellow who took care of us spent a long time explaining, showing, urging us to lie down, talking about price differences. I now know more about springs than I ever wanted to. The best part was that he was not pushy. The prices are hard to decipher among the different stores and that is the only complaint I have-that the names of all the mattresses are different and it is impossible to compare. I went during a sale - my mistake! and while there were a ton of customers in the department, it was the associates that work there that were rude and unwilling to help. Love the hand bag section staff! Sunday, Zandra and the manager Colleen. Tried to return a MK purse I bought a few months back, but had no receipt, no tag or the card I bought it on. They all believed me, didn't give me the feeling I was lying. Had finally gotten my proof of purchase & they tried everything but couldn't find my transaction. Had to go to my bank & get my old card number and they gave me a full return on it. Love the fact that they take back purchases from even 2 years back. Typical Macy's store. I ended up going there for a french cuffed shirt as they were the only store that had them available in my size. I wasn't blow away but I also wasn't disgusted either. It was pretty much straight down the middle average of what I was expecting it to be. I usually go to Nordstroms for any clothes that I need but they didn't have the shirt I needed. Maybe Macy's has a wider selection to choose from but as for their employees and the general upkeep of the store I was not taken back. My sales lady did help me find what I was looking for but she was not as professional as I llike. I would most likely end up going to Nordstrom before I went to Macys just because I like them a little more. Overall though if you needed to get something from here it isn't that bad! read more
