ENTIRE STORE IS A DISASTER! Huge mess everywhere- in-line with every other store in this mall. I've seen more organized thrift stores. No register was open on the second floor. Everytime I asked an employee where an open register was they would send me to another area of the second floor or would pretend they were going to look for me and never came back. This location is decent for in store purchases. Customer service is friendly and decent. They keep their shelves stocked. Even during covid they did a good job keeping items stocked. Masks are required but not forced. Most people do a good job at wearing them even though their still optional. I've had hit or miss experiences ordering online. read more

Depending on what floor you're at, ambience changes. There's 3 floors, the basement floor where the juniors, special occasion dresses, intimate apparel, and kids seem to get zero phone reception especially if you have T-Mobile(which I do because it's the cheapest plan), but it's chilled here and would be mainly where I do my shopping if I were to shop at Macy's. All the other floors are seem to be filled with cranky old ladies working. This place get nuts during the holidays as with other department stores, parking is easy if you just want to only stop by Macy's since it's right off the exit. Keith in the men's department was really helpful and helped measure me and find the right fit while at the same time juggling other customers and keeping the customer moving through the register. We just came from men's wear house and had no help there at all without an appointment. Wow! Macy's is really going downhill. I used to love shopping at Macy's department store, but something major has changed. This location is always way over crowded with product. They are understaffed and the staff they do have needs some major training in customer service. On my most recent visit, two employees in different sections were just yelling across the walkway having a non-work related conversation. I don't care about a little socializing, but at least show some professionalism and class while you're at work. I tried getting help with shoes. The lady completely lacked any customer service skills. The check out stand was to my back as I was looking at options. She had left me to see if they had a shoe in my size. When she came back, she went to the checkout stand and just started rattling off store locations. I didn't even hear her, let alone know she was talking to me. My daughter noticed and told me to turn around. This lady still kept just rattling off store locations. I looked at her confused and she says "Are any of those near you?" At that point I figured out she was trying to tell me that she didn't have it, but other stores did. She didn't offer to help me find a similar style, or ask if I'd like to try a size up or down. I visited the Macy's in Southcenter Mall in hopes of purchasing some cologne during my west coast trip. I read reviews here about the lack of organization and cleanliness of this store, and while I did notice some organizational issues, I found this Macy's overall to be quite clean. I probably caught this Macy's store on a good day, as I was immediately greeted by someone in the cologne section, and she was extremely knowledgeable about the products. The only issue I had was that there was a bit of wait for the cash registers to work; I had to wait about 5-10 minutes for my purchase to finally process, so not sure what the holdup was. From my experience here in a specific booth, I would give 4 stars. However, since I did notice a couple of organizational issues during my visit here, I'll give the benefit of the doubt and give this place 3 stars. read more

None of their selection is particularly extensive but they'll have all of the basics you're looking for. This is probably the worst beauty - perfume department I have ever encountered. Not the product, but the lack of staff. Seriously: I've been standing 10 (!!!) minutes at the Estée Lauder counter without seeing a living soul. Unbelievable. When I walked away and looked somewhere else, I found the ladies happily chatting with each other. They saw me and didn't even bother to ask if they could help me. Kudos!! There was a time when "Macy's" was synonymous with high-end fashion. But this Macy's is like a second rate Kohl's. The most annoying part is that the store is spread over 4 floors yet the escalator going up has been broken for at least the last six months if not longer. They don't even allow you to use it as stairs. Instead they direct you to the ONE tiny elevator that takes forever because so many people are waiting to use it. Worst Experience ever! I'm honestly not one to put out a review, but it's just one thing after another. Long story short. I travel for work & I have a extremely strict uniform policy so I went to Macy's to find Compliant Navy heels. Well in store they didn't have my size & that color; so they offered to order them and I can pick them up in store. A week later I pick them up & they sent me black heels. Box said navy, receipt said navy, and email said navy. So I was understanding & was able to get a new pair shipped out again. Well my new heels came in today. Guess what they are black again! So now I'm just annoyed because I need these ASAP for work because we wear uniforms and they have to be navy. So I call and they say that they will send me a new correct pair and I should see a confirmation email in an hour. Hours later never showed up. So I call again and the employee says the person before never successfully put in the order. He says once my order ships I'll get a confirmation now and that someone should contact me in 24 hours (I don't know why someone is contacting me) So now I cross my fingers that the third time I can get the heels I purchased in the correct color. After having to wait over 15 days and now however long the next ones take. I do have to say the workers in the location had been super helpful. I know it's the warehouse fault and not them. This is just extremely frustrating. I also tried to contact Macy's twice on a complaint form they had online and they said someone would reach out through email & phone....no one ever did. read more

Don't bother calling ahead. The phone system is designed so you fail every time. This is a huge 4 level store. Clothes make up the bottom couple of floors and makeup, fragrance, and home are the top two floors. The wedding registry is up top in the kitchen section. There never seem to be workers where I need them to be. I always have to walk half way across a level to find someone. I get that it's a big store but it gets old having to search for someone whenever you need help. They have great sales and online sales typically trump in-store. You can have things shipped to this store location for free and then pick it up on the north side of the store right outside the bottom floor. read more

There have been some good times at Macy's (previously The Bon Marche) in our lives. We bought our bedding here that we still love 6+ years later. My husband has spent hours pouring over the jewelry counter to find me some really nice things that I still love and wear often. I have gotten my stink on more than I can say, testing perfumes for me, colognes for him and finally buying something repeatedly from the slightly pushy but always nice sales clerks. The shoe department has outfitted me in sales and sometimes (GASP) full price shoes for years, although I have to say that it's almost ALWAYS grossly understaffed during sales. The clerks are awesome, this is a management level issue with scheduling for sales only. Overall, this is a great place to get mid-range nice things at fair prices. You can usually find most of what you're looking for at this store, and the good news is that you'll find it with a helpful clerk to sell it to you. read more

English fluency is an afterthought just like any possible customer service training. But, God forbid you should try to buy anything in the jewelry or men's clothing section. I have always enjoyed going to Macys at Southcenter Mall until now. I received a bakeware set as a gift and already had similar items in my collection so I decided to return it. The person who gifted it to me included both a gift receipt and the original receipt. The original receipt showed that he paid cash for it. The home department cashier (whose name is Donna) processed the return and told me that I could get the return on a gift card or on to my macys card but not cash back. I told her that the person who bought it for me paid cash. She said there was nothing she could do. I asked to speak to a manager, she called the manager and explained the situation. The manager did not come out to assess the situation, just agreed with the cashier and had the cashier relay her thoughts to me. What I realized afterwards was that the cashier did not tell the manager that I had the ORIGINAL receipt which shows that cash was paid for the item. I told the cashier that I would just go return it elsewhere and she accused me of trying to defraud Macys. How am I doing anything fraudulent when I'm returning an unopened item with the original receipt?! She also said that it was fraudulent because it wasn't my name on the receipt - lady, the person paid CASH, there is NO NAME on the stinkin receipt!!!! Macys has just lost a valuable customer and I hope they lose more customers due to my review because this type of customer service is completely unacceptable! The cashier lady became rude and became agressive towards me with her voice which made me mad because I don't think I did anything wrong! I returned a gift to Nordstroms that was paid with my friend's credit card and they gave me cash back! I'm not saying that everywhere needs to be like Nordstroms. I had the original receipt, I had an unopened product that I did not need, and I should have gotten my money back!!! Definitely never going to Macys ever again! read more

Why write a review of one of the nation's largest department store chains? Only to say this is one of the most minimally accessible department stores I have ever seen. First of all, the handicap button on the entrance does make the doors open for you, but they are slower than the doors in the Temple of Doom. Then you need to wait approximately thirty-six years for the elevator to descend twelve feet. Then try navigating a large wheeled object around all the jewelry and beauty towers sprinkled liberally in the aisles. You can't do it. Don't even try to get into the actual sales floor. While attempting to push through the racks you might end up becoming inextricably tangled in a pile of some China-smelling whiskered denim and crazy-print polyester. read more

It is necessary to note that we visited this store the Friday before New Year's Eve. It was chaos, they were out of stock of most items, and the clerks appeared quite overwhelmed if not absolutely frazzled. While the inventory was mostly consistent, I was disappointed that the only women's athletic shoes were in the Finish Line install within Macy's. They have limited inventory anyway, not to mention at that specific time, but they don't carry the brands to appeal to female customers who need shoes for reasons other than running. They didn't even have a decent pair of cross trainers! Disappointed overall with the Macy's experience and ended up finding the shoes I wanted elsewhere in the mall (at a much better price!) This Macy's has the worst service and selection of the three Seattle-area stores. Here is my advice for shopping for an office wardrobe at Macy's. If you want a brand name suit, Macy's has a good selection and is cheaper than Nordstrom but they charge you for every little alteration and it can add quite a bit to the cost if you want the suit to fit right. This store sends all its unsold clearance suits to Seattle, so you may have better luck finding a suit if you go downtown. For work shirts, I've had much better luck at Nordstrom/the Rack. The service is hit and miss, so inform yourself, know what you're looking for, and only use sales staff when necessary. Everything is always going on sale all the time, e.g., "one day sales." Sign up for the email list and they will notify you about them the day of, however you will also be bombarded mercilessly with marketing emails for all sorts of things you don't want. For additional coupons, sign up for a Star Rewards card. Not all sales are created equal. For example, "Private sales" are marketing hooey, just regular sales, and not always very good ones at that. Some "one-day sales" have door busters and some don't; these are discounts offered early in the day that can be pretty significant and may be worth telling your boss you have a dentist appointment to get. read more

Horrible customer service. Stood in line in the men's department waiting to check out and the sales associate and manager stood and just talked to the lady they were checking out. Didn't acknowledge us, say we will be with you shortly or anything just kept on talking. Not to mention there was a line of people behind us. We finally get up to check out and the manager is just talking to the associates asking when they go on break saying how she is ready to go home, still haven't acknowledged us. Finally the associate is ready to help us (15 minutes later) and all we want to do was an even exchange and the sales associate didn't know what she was doing. Same shirt. Same sale the same manager wanted to make it a big deal about the exchange because one slight difference in the shirts. Being a previous employee for Macy's it shouldn't be that difficult knowing how the system works. Then the sales associate just gives us the other shirt and takes the old one, didn't exchange it through the computer or anything. I'm only giving this review for the excellent customer service I received from the lady working in the shoe dept this evening before close. She said it's not her usual day to work so I felt blessed. I think that genuine human interaction is important & it does make or break the experience for me. And working retail at south center Macy's is not easy. A lot of folks would not be able to have the patience and positive attitude that she has. She made me happy I came in and shopped than did it online. She was very kind and took care of everything. Being a former employee in 2 different locations I will give you my complete honesty and MY personal opinion about Macy's. I will say it was quite interesting working in this more than 100 year old family started company. I'm sorry but this location in particular is way to large for its own good. There are never enough staff in the assigned areas. There are always angry customers who are ready to check out and walk around the whole store looking for a cashier. There is a HUGE power trip with Management, they are so fake it's annoying. Most of the management are but there are a few kind and real ones. It's really all about the MONEY these days in big box retailers, and this is by far one of the bigger ones. They have drifted from humble beginnings to a money hungry and almost desperate store. You see them staying open late (as late as 11pm on certain sales) but in the last 3 hours of business it's a dead zone, there are no customers in the store. Good for the staff who are on the clock but bad for Macy's who continues to waste money on staying open late and minimal sales being generated. I will say I am fortunate to have been brought on board, but I will also say, I saw how greedy corporations have gotten w/the internet garnering more sales in the past decade. A few pieces of advice to close: staff your store on busier days vs closing so late into the evening, Management- get off your high horse and smell the fresh air, you are not any better than anyone else. You're losing customers, and need to do something about it. Put two and two together already. read more

** SHOE DEPARTMENT ONLY ** I told The Mom shopping in the Macy's shoe department is kind of like going to the DMV. Sure, everything seems to be in order, but good luck getting any help! At least the DMV has the whole 'take a number' system going for them and you can also easily recognize who is an employee. Not so here. The Mom said, "No. We are here so we might as well go and look. Besides it is early on a weekday. It should not be too much of a problem." Then she saw what I meant. It was a complete mystery as to how anyone managed to get shoes to try on and once she did there was no one there to see the sale all the way through. I managed to get a pair of silver flats to try on and The Mom was amazed. "How did you get those?!" "I mouthed 7 1/2 to a guy and held up the shoe." The shoes were brought out to me, but I was never helped again. It makes me sad because I really like that Macy's carries a great selection of Nine West shoes which I fit into a seven perfectly. Macy's also has great sales (the shoes I was trying on were 40% off the original price.) If Macy's can manage to pull off a parade years after years I think they can manage to remedy this situation too. read more

I love Macy's, I enjoy going to the one in Bellevue frequently. This Macy's, though, looked like a tornado had gone through it. There were racks upon racks of clothing that were in disarray with different sizes mixed in with each other, different brands scattered about, and even different types of clothing all jumbled together. Clothes were discarded on the floor, were heaped on top of the racks, and even were in the wrong departments. I thought perhaps some sale was going on, but I could find nothing to indicate that and with the store so out of order I couldn't find what I wanted. read more

I loathe coming to Macy's and was forced to come today, with my mother and grandmother- dress shopping for my wedding. My husband & I were in need of a gift for a Christmas party we were attending and ended up at Macy*s. I used to work there at HQ many years ago and knew they tended to offer 'gift-able' like items. We ended up finding several items which would fall into 'gifts' as well as something I had been eyeing (a quesadilla maker). The sales associate (like a holiday hire) tried to help us find more inventory even though we had just spent 15mins digging through the pile ourselves. She then came up empty and told us "too bad". Thanks for nothing? Macy*s also always has 15-20% off on weekends (and sales) and when I asked if I could please get the 15% off - she told me that she 'didn't have any coupons'. This is totally untrue and she didn't want to offer us the discount so her commission wouldn't be lowered. Sad fact is, it was about $2 that she 'made' off of us but only annoyed long-time customers and we walked out without the one item we really wanted. There's no wonder why brick & mortar has gone down the pipeline! read more

I used to love Macy's (previously the Bon Marche') and am really disappointed in their service, cleanliness and just general business structure. It's definitely a "discount" store. I went in on a Tuesday planning to spend $1,500 - $2,000. I ended up only buying about $450 worth of clothing. The store was really disgusting, it reminded me of a Ross Department store... on a bad day. Not once during my visit did anyone ask if I needed help or offer to start a room for me even though I was carrying a large selection of items - approximately 12-15 higher end pieces, which were getting heavy. The ONLY sales associate I saw was scowling and muttering something that sounded like swear words in a foreign language, so I avoided her. It seems like they have done a spectacular job of hiring every non-english speaking refugee they can find and then give them sweatshop conditions to work in. When I had had enough, I went to ring up my order on the other side of the women's department and decided on only 4 pieces out of more than a dozen that I would have bought had the experience been even reasonably customer service oriented. When I asked the cashier if I could speak to a manager, she told me that she doubted he was even there and just started ringing me up. That's when I removed everything but a few items that I liked and didn't feel like sourcing something similar online or over at Nordstrom's. She didn't say a word and obviously could not care less. I felt like I was shopping in the clothing version of a puppy mill. Overworked and uncaring sales associates, deplorable conditions, apathetic management. I was also given something called "Macy's Money" while I was there and told it would work online and the back of the card says so as well. I tried to use it during the promotional period. First the site was down twice when I went online. Then when I finally could log in on the last day, there is nowhere to enter the "Macy's Money" for the $40.00 bonus. When I called the phone number, no help there either. It is just a recorded message with NO SERVICE. Googled for help - endless loop of Nothing. It seems Macy's has become a discount, low end store with high prices and zero service. When I'm looking for discount, I can put on a pair of combat boots and wade into the masses with the best of them; full well knowing what to expect. Macy's needs to change their name from Department Store to Discount Store, thereby giving fair warning to any who dare to enter. Farewell Macy's - I'll fondly remember the old days of the Bon Marche' and more civil, enjoyable shopping experiences. So, I ordered a mattress from Macy's on May 29th and the delivery date that we were given was June 22nd. We received a call the day before telling us that the mattress wouldn't get here until July 13th. Okay fine, whatever. Fast forward to today, we received another call telling us the mattress wouldn't be available until the 31st. I've literally been sleeping on a inflatable mattress on the ground because I thought the delivery date that I was given would be accurate. The only reason I'm giving this place two stars is because the gentleman that sold us the mattress was very kind and professional. If it weren't for him, I'd be rating one star. But yeah, we got called the day before the delivery date TWICE because they didn't have the mattress that we bought and couldn't deliver it. read more

This is based on the wedding registry department. I went in to make some exchanges for colors and sizes of gifts we had received for our wedding. The lady that worked the registry department was extremely helpful and friendly. She made it so easy to return and exchange things. She gave me a lot of great advice. The other lady that worked the cash register was so patient with me as we tried to get all the matching bedding as well as order pieces that were not available in store. If you are doing a registry I really recommend Macy's, they are truly the best. Every store I have been to has been so helpful and made the wedding gift process great! read more

~I was searching for a good watch for my graduation present. Macys had a sale. I went to the watches counter and told the sales rep that i want a nice watch with mother of pearl dial, little bling bling and petite.. she was very informative of the different brands and functionality of watches. she took the time to help me try them on and take links out to fit my wrist. after 3 watches i decided to get the pulsar watch. i got a good deal and sale price and save $40 off the original price. i like how she took the time to assist my needs and satisfied with my purchase. thank you! read more

This is the first time we came for shopping to this store. The ladies in the MK purses were nice. We went to the men's shoe department and there was only one gentleman working. It was crowed so even tough my husband found some good shoes we left. They were understaffed. The women's section had more clothes than other places. One lady helped me but the the fitting room was a mess. We then went to the mattress's section and the gentleman that was working there was very nice and the service was excellent. Clothing selection to me here has gone down to me. I feel like its even more cluttered than before and the quality is up and down and overpriced for many because its designed by a celebrity or someone in that nature. Staff isn't really that helpful because it doesn't seem like theres enough of them. But overall its okay, I think I am talking more about downstairs ^^ Upstairs its wonderful, very clean and bright and friendly people everywhere! So it is like a 360 changing the levels LOL.
