I went into Macy's looking for greeting cards. Yes, I know, that's a weird reason to go into Macy's but here we are - and lo and behold - they did have them, near customer service/returns/pickups. Also they have their chocolate gift boxes there and their gift bags. Bottom floor, which is near household, babies (I think?) and their discounted items. Then it's upstairs and out into the mall via the obligatory perfume gauntlet - which smells amazing. Guess what? elevator and escalator out of service again? Two months in a row? no wait...make that THREE months..... again no signs warning people BEFORE you go above the ground floor. How do you even run a store like this? if this is regular maintenance, it should be done outside of business hours. Customers shouldn't be punished and have to walk down stairs (walking down stairs or inclines is harder on knees than going up). Dropped by on our visit to the mall. Didn't really see too many new items on sale or in fashion. Looked like same ol' same ol' clothing styles, nothing really new. Adidas, Alfani, CK, I.N.C. , Levi's, Michael Kors, Polo Ralph Lauren, etc. Cologne/perfume sets were advertised for Holiday gifts as well as Men's and Women's accessories. If I could give negative stars I would. I see why the rating is so low. Macy's is racist. I went in to try to get an understanding about the difference shown on my receipts from purchases I had made and the representative called for backup. It is highly unsettling that I cannot go into a store without being treated as if I'm going to cause turmoil. I had tried to take care of this issue by calling customer service and was told I needed to go to a store to get it figured out. I have not made a purchase from any Macy's store in more than 2 years...needless to say, I won't return. These antics are disgraceful and the treatment I received is disrespectful. I did not step out of line, only continuously questioned the representative to which she had to admit there was a discrepancy with how my return transactions were processed. And star money is trash, I didn't ask for it but feel like I'm being penalized for it being added to my 'account' even though I wasn't informed of this addition. Don't need it, don't want it especially if this is the type of service a person encounters when shopping at this store. Seems like they don't want customers, perhaps that's why its so empty. Disappointed we didnt really find anything and we tried on a lot of options. The sales were not always clear based on the signage on each rack of clothes. Expensive but better than other local stores. They seem to be limiting their clothing choices compared to what use to be available. Customer service is great and I've honestly never had a bad service rep. I noticed their prices have gotten really expensive lately. You can go in to try on merch but I highly suggest to use your phone to see if it is better priced online then order it on your phone. The only issues I've had with online ordering is when they decide to move the merch you ordered to clearance. Which means you can not return it. They should give you a warning before they do that. Do they? Nope. I've gotten stuck with many a clothing I could not return. Some times if you're professional you can physically go in and return it. As their online return policy says you should be able to return the darn thing even if it is on clearance. Even in this scenario. I enjoy their last act section and you can find some pretty good buys there but just like any second hand store you're sort of at the mercy of what they bring in there. Why do they keep their stores at 80 degrees f? I understand a lot of seniors shop Macy's but I've learned not to overly dress warm for their stores. You'll be sweating out in 20 minutes. Took them for ever to fix the down elevator to the basement level. Instead of allowing people to walk up and down it for safety concerns they should of just let people use it like a stair case. When I finally got there after walking around entire store (all 3 floors) I couldn't believe how little they had. The store was a mess- clothes all over the floor, naked mannequins, long lines and aloof employees. No store directories and several of their price checker machines were broken. I tried ordering some cologne online and it turned out to be $175. Macy's canceled my order twice and there was a mistake on their behalf. The first time it got canceled. I asked them to re-order it so they did not having return my money the first time, so then I got charged twice close to $350 so I called again and they tried running my card to order a third time without returning me. The first two payments in my card ended up declining and today is a holiday banks are closed, so I ended up with no money, and no cologne and all they're offering is 25% off. Then I went over to buy some socks, because I needed some new work socks, and the salesman behind the counter (Bailey) who was helping me asked me to smell his cologne he was wearing, I did not hesitate, so I leaned in and smelled his wrist, and it smelled amazing. Macy's at Southcenter mall. Like all Macy's, it has what you expect to find. This is a multi-floor Macy's. We were shopping in the cosmetic section. Yes cosmetic here is definitely cheaper compared to Canada. I also noticed that they have the annual fragrance mall gala (Nov 4, 2018). I have been to a similar event in Canada. Its a pretty good deal. Tickets cost $10 but you also get $10 off your purchase. At the event there are food, prizes and free gifts with purchase (I am sure the one at Macy's is similar). I love Macys. They have quality products at fair prices. Great prices when they're on sale. But recently I did an online purchase & chose in store pickup. The line for online pickup is also for returns and checking out. There were approximately 6 people in line in front of me. One customer took up one of the cashiers time for at least 10 full minutes. Longer I think because she was there when I got there and was still at the register when the other 6 people in line in front of me had gone through. I appreciate that the cashier was patient with her but she really should have tried to move the lady along quicker. I don't think I would choose the pickup at store option again. read more

For a department store, this place is an absolute ZOO! It's a mess! Clothes literally everywhere! There are no associates available for assistance, no clear fitting rooms, and the fitting room we were directed to is an absolute disaster! We were looking for nicer shopping experience than a Ross or a Marshall's, but I believe those stores are actually better! At least they do a better job of maintaining their stores, and racks! You can never find anyone in this store to ask a question which why I prefer curbside pick up. Even that becomes a pain because there's no one even working that either. You check in and no response. This department store has quality clothes and perhaps good customer service- but we wouldn't know, because of the poor presentation, organization and inaccurate directory that inevitably directed us right out the door. We couldn't initially find the men's rain coats on sale. The directory led us to some lower level where a women's jacket jungle laid waste. After finding the men's coats on level 1, there were more issues. Like an untagged cut rate coat with inaccurate hanger sizes and long shackle like security wires through the interior of each sleeve. I often feel that customer service has gotten really bad over the past few years, but not at the fragrance counter at Macy's Southcenter. Macy's, you need to get security guards and train your employees to do something when the alarm goes off at the door. The last 2 times I've been here, someone shoplifted, setting off the alarm and none of your employees did jack. They just watched the person leave. The styles in the women's department have gone downhill. INC is a label I like a lot and so is Calvin Klein, both still sold here. Other than that, it's hard to find anything that is appropriate for work or that I actually want to wear that isn't evening wear, screams grandma or is just plain ugly. Also, I made a large purchase here and the cashier asked me what kind of bag I wanted. Told her the regular shopping bags. She then took the 2 dozen garments off the hangers and shoved them all into one hanging bag. Seriously?! The other cashier stared at her but didn't say anything. The acres of clothes marked down should tell you that you need new buyers for the women's clothing. The women's restroom in the women's section on the third level needs some cleaning/remodeling. It's nice for moms because there's a chaise and a couple comfortable chairs. It's dark as midnight no matter when the sun goes down outside in the north entrance. Still a fan of this store, especially the make-up counters. Even though it's hard to find someone when you need help and people need better training all around, I still like the brands. As others have noted, the store is not well kept. It's like walking into a poorly kept Ross or something. The fixtures and surfaces and old, run-down, in disrepair, and disheveled. None of this provides any form of confidence. I try not to go to malls in general. I really try not to go to Southcenter, as it's full-on train wreck most days. This store makes the rest of the mall seem more tolerable by comparison. It's really quite sad. I ordered a set of cookware on macy's.com for in-store pickup. I drove to the store, and on the way I receive an email that the cookware isn't available and that "Please confirm by [Date/Time], that you'd like us to ship the items, otherwise we'll cancel them for you." For the record, I did not confirm. I called their 800 number and was hung up on twice. I finally got a hold of someone in the store on the phone when I was walking into the store. The person in the store was polite and helpful, but could not find the item I was supposed to be picking up. (The phone rep said there were multiple before hanging up on me.) She and one other person went looking in the storeroom twice. The person in the store said the store system had zero in stock. (The display copy was present. I was not offered it.) They also told me the item had already started shipping and that they couldn't stop it. It was also being shipped to the wrong address. I emailed their customer service about this issue since I didn't want anyone to hang up on me again. I never received a response to the email (Submitted by form on their webpage.) and after the item was delivered by UPS at 10:15 at night, I went back and used the 'chat with a live agent' feature on their webpage (as I'd tried everything else) and explained the whole thing to them. The only response I received was that I could return the item for a refund, and that they would notify their management of the issue(s). I declined the return as I didn't want to deal with UPS again. So really an epic fail all around (With the exception of the lady in the store that did her level best to help me. I feel bad for her having to deal with issues caused by their website folks. She did mention that it happens often. I kinda wish she'd just given me the display model and a discount or something.) So I won't be doing business with Macy's again via any medium or location. Two Phone Reps, Two Store People, One Email, Two Chat Reps, and nothing but an apology and offer to return an item that took a week to get here after I didn't approve it's shipment in the first place. TLDR: Don't buy stuff on Macy's.com and use in-store pickup. You'll have a bad time. Really, just don't buy things from Macy's. read more

Don't be surprised if I write a review criticizing this Macy's as others do. Last Christmas Eve me and my Dad shopped here for our new pairs of Levi's jeans and pants, first we got a shock of what we saw. It's Christmas so it could get a little unorganized as everybody is celebrating. But the clothing department was a total junkyard like we walked inside Goodwill: Tried clothes ripped apart , piles on the ground which got very messy. Took a while for Dad to find his size , hangers weren't marked right. Same thing on me, cause mine is XS or between S, well it became an issue for us. Finally we got the clearance sale out of the deal. And the woman who checked us out had glazed eyes, as if we are her enemy and not let her enjoy the holiday night. Sigh... My fiance and I stopped in at this Macy's location since the downtown one has been sort of lackluster for us over the past year or so. While this location is bustling with many more customers than downtown, I still found the mens section to be quite lacking. We were looking for work shirts for my fiance and it was a struggle to find some. Once we did they were all $80 for the old, typical, outdated fits. Other clothing sections looked even more outdated with short, wide tops and pant styles that haven't been in style for years. If this is what men get for clothing, I feel bad they don't have more options. The whole department needs an update overhaul. Also, while we looking around not one person asked if we needed help. We ended up going to H&M after this and finding better prices, but having a much worse experience. Overall we left this store and this mall without any mens clothing. read more

I remember when Macy's was vibrant and not sure what has happened but this seems to be a declining store and reminds me of the other big box stores like Sears and KMart. Usually you have to seek out assistance after you look for an employee but once you find someone though they are helpful. I have over 100 Polo shirts and to say I can't walk by Ralph Lauren area without buying something I can attest this is the only store I have never bought a Polo shirt - the team managing the area for Ralph Lauren have never acknowledged me or helped when I have been there so I never add to my collection at this store. The guy working acted like he knew what he was doing when he clearly had no idea! His coworkers were unwilling to assist him. The manager was called 3 different times before he actually came. Thankfully the manager got me and my cranky 3 year old out of that mess! I also want to point out that the three different counters where my mom, daughter and I stopped to make purchases, were beyond messy. We bought a gift card then the cashier set it down before handing to me.. Next thing you know, he's going through a stack of gift cards that were scattered all over the counter, under clothes and junk, looking for the one we had purchased. I brought a list and new coupons I had received in the mail. I spent around $200, and every single item I purchased was excluded on the coupons. I wasn't bargain shopping either. They had a huge makeup event going on, and trying to get through it without getting hassled was proving to be quite easy until I made the mistake of looking at a MEN'S cologne, and an employee (of course) sniffed me out and was ready to ask if she could get me anything.
