I' the person who would never write the review but I have to say it. Never ever shopping at Macy ever again. The only reason I shop at Macy because my friend bought me a gift card. I just want to use it. There is promotion buy 1 get 1 free lipstick from Anastasia Beverly hills both in store and online. Me and my sister in law run to Macys store at 10pm. All of the lipstick sold out. We have to order online. The lady is playing with the phone, no body ask if we need help. The lady probably is new and she doesn't know anything. She want me pay $9 for shipping but it should be free shipping. So I have to correct her which is fine, I understand she is new. However, the promotion she give me is buy 1 get 1 half off!!!! I say no, its buy 1 get 1 free, there is even a sign right the counter. She says the system doesn't allow her to do that. I told her that she need to confirm with manager and she says the manager told her that its buy1get1 half off even though the sign is right there. Then what is the reason you have to put the sign like that. What a fraud!!!! So I told her its a fraud, I want to cancel it. She doesn't know how to do it. She has to run around looking for manager. Manager show up after 30 mins and told her to call customer service. So we have to wait another 30 mins and the end they told me that I have to wait until the products arrive and bring it to the store to return. The customer service close at 5 and they can't do anything even though the transaction is 2 mins after we figure out the mistake. We have to run to the store to buy stupid lipstick at 10pm and they trick us like that. I don't know how many people figure out that. Feel like Macys tried to take more money from customer. At the other store even fred meyer, if I find the different price with the promotion sign, they fix it right the way, no question. And here look what I have at Macys. Wasting my time and get nothing but angry. Would never ever shop at Macys. Rude customer service. Fraud!!!! Put up the sign and selling people with different price. Please try to avoid the employee by the name of "Vincent" at Tukwila Macy's shoe department. I believe my experience yesterday was probably one of my worst ever regarding customer service anywhere thanks to Vincent. He did ask me if he could help me when I was looking around soon after I arrived in the shoe department. I indicated that I was still looking at that point. When I finally did find a shoe I wanted to try on and he was busy elsewhere, I found another employee to help me. By the time I tried the shoe on and found another to try on, the gal who helped me was busy with a long line of customers at the register. I went to Vincent to ask for help and he looked at me, said "yeah", and quickly walked away to straighten shoes on the shelf. When I went up to him again to ask him to help me, he looked at me and said that he already asked me if I needed help and I went to someone else. I asked Vincent if he was suppposed to follow me around until I found a shoe I wanted to try on? Vincent was terribly rude with his comments, and his customer service skills were non existant... besides being mean, disrespectful, and awful towards me in general. The shoe department at Macy's is chaotic at best. I do understand that, and have continued to go in despite the possibility of not being helped quickly. But this experience was unacceptable. I do hope that Vincent does not last long as an employee there if this type of behavior and attitude continues with other customers. He does not deserve to be employed anywhere that he has to deal with and be respectful towards customers. He clearly does not know how to treat customers respectfully. He left me with a sick feeling in my stomach, and I don't wish that kind of treatment on anyone. In my opinion, (besides wishing Vincent would be fired as soon as possible) this is not the type of place that should be commission based for the employees. They all need to just fill in where it is needed, as they always seem to be short handed with helping customers. I walked in a couple hours before I had to be at a wedding. I have done the registry shopping once. I went in and asked Joyce for help initially for printing out the list. However, once armed with the list, it became apparent that this was going to be harder than I thought. I had to find items to add up to my price limit, figure out which products were available in this particular store and finally dig through a hundred towels to find "Aegean" and "vapor" colors. This soon became a scavenger hunt, and my anxiety started rising. Joyce went above and beyond with care, humor and dedication to help me. With our found treasure in tow, she went to the registered and pointed me to the wedding cards. I came back with my card and she made the gift bag so beautiful for me. She even found me a 15% coupon! I was so amazed at this kind and genuine service and care. read more

Customer service and Macy's DO NOT go hand in hand. I should have stuck with Nordstrom which is where I normally go! I was told they matched prices and I was able to pull up the exact item at Nordstrom for half price. The customer service rep did not want to give the discounted price and I had to insist on speaking to manager who said she would do it "This time." What does that even mean? I thought it was policy! Needless to say the customer service rep was very rude about it all! read more

I generally enjoy shopping at Macy's. However, this Macy's in particular is always dreadful to shop at. The store is a disaster: clothes and costume jewelry on the floor everywhere and cluttered, disorganized sale racks. If you're waiting for someone to try clothes on, you can't even sit on the nice booths that were installed during the remodel several years ago, because they're completely blocked by racks of unwanted clothing from the fitting room. I don't know if these issues are due to a perpetual shortage in employees or if it's that the employees don't care. Checking out can also be a feat; the waits can be extremely long. And while this isn't the fault of the store, there's something about the Tukwila location where there are always unattended kids screaming and running around the store as if it's a playground. I can occasionally find cute clothes here, but the shopping experience just isn't as good here as at other Macy's stores in the area (Downtown, Bellevue). read more

Went to macys mens department in the levis and sports wear section on September 11th and bought a couple of items. When I got to the register the lady told me that she can save me some money of I do this presale thing. I said sure why not, I then proceeded to purchase the items and she was right. I got 25% off from each item I bought. She then said that they would store the items I just purchased until the start of the event which was on the 16th. (At this point I'm super confused). I'm happy she was able to save me money but I feel like the items I just "paid" for are being held HOSTAGE! IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT MACY'S LET'S YOU PURCHASE STUFF THEN TELLS YOU THAT YOU HAVE TO COME BACK ANOTHER DAY TO PICK IT UP. It's like they give you a reward for shopping there, then take it back punch you in the face and ask you to waste your time and come back and get it later. I like Macy's because I always get tons of coupons in the mail and with their one-day sales that they have everyday, their prices are great. Great quality stuff, name brand stuff at great prices. This location is clean for the most part but can get a little unorganized with items being thrown around. Decent though. read more

This is not specific for this store but for Macy's in general. Their switch to American Express as their CC provider is a disaster. My wife has had a Bon Marche/Macy's card for over 40 years. We had a $78 charge from last spring but never received a bill because of an input error on Amex part. I received a letter in the mail in August that the bill was past due so I called and paid it thinking that was that. It wasn't. The Amex person failed to tell me that our card was cancelled and reported as delinquent. This had serious consequences to our credit and resulted in getting a higher rate by 1% on a loan at BECU (it was the difference of $8,000 over the life of the loan). I finally got the ding removed from my credit but even though Amex admitted it was their mistake and fixed it they were not at all apologetic and did not reinstate our card. We have always loved going downtown at Christmas and always made Macy's a big part of our tradition and shopped a lot at the Southcenter store the rest of the year. It's no surprise that they reported disappointing sales in December as I am sure many like us who had been customers in the past spent zero, Z-RO this past holiday. If you own Macy's stock sell it. They are clearly going out of business. It's sad to see such institutions fail at such a basic level but it is no surprise considering the combination of pure incompetence and horrific customer service that I have endured over a measly $78. BTW I refinanced the BECU loan after the credit ding was removed and got the lower rate even though it cost me $100+. read more

Totally disappointed in the African Lancôme clerk with bright purple lipstick and big hair this afternoon. You don't know a thing about customer service, you're rude. Extremely unprofessional. Performing misconduct on the clock, and downright argumentative with a rather kind innocent customer who was trying to return a product that didn't work out. Rather than try to listen or diffuse the situation you only exacerbated it, and it's quite ugly. This is NOT Macys customer service standards and you should be deeply ashamed in yourself and quite frankly if your deeply rooted anger issues aren't resolved you won't have much of a future as an employee. Fix your attitude towards certain customers you cosmetics girls are judging. You are a minority yourself. I frequent this Macys often and I've had great experiences until today..very rude and very uneccessary and I hope the issue will be addressed ASAP as far as the attitude towards certain customers are adjusted. read more

I usually enjoy shopping at Macy's but one of my experiences left me wondering. Before I had seen a necklace in the jewelry department that I've been eying but didn't see again. I began to try and get the attention of one of the two ladies standing there, but they seemed to be more into their conversation. When I tried to describe what it was I was looking for, she cut me off and told me no, that they had no such thing. We're talking about a necklace that was about $800+. Honestly Macy's is pretty pricey but I guess I cant argue with that because that is the essence of the store! Everything seems to be well stocked expect the juniors section! NEVER BUY CLOTHES FROM THERE!! The sizes are always so limited and the style and deisgn of clothes can only fit people who are basically under a size four! Your best bet is to just shop at Ross where you can get the same products and everything you need for less! read more

Why do companies like Macy's spend millions on advertising to bring people into their stores only to ignore them once they get there? We were shopping for shoes at South Center Mall and went into Macy's. On my own I found three styles that I was interested in. I was in the men's shoe department with my wife and daughter for several minutes and no one even acknowledged our presence, let alone offered to help. At 3:10 on a busy Sunday afternoon there was apparently only one employee working in the department, and he was behind the register ringing up an order and talking on the phone (presumably to another customer). There were many other customers obviously waiting for assistance as well. Seeing no hope in sight, we left the shoes on the seat and took our business elsewhere. In the Nordstrom shoe department in the same mall I received friendly and immediate service (but they sadly did not have my shoe size). read more

I am ambivalent about my shopping experience here. When I first arrived there was a woman who was overwhelmingly, saccharin sweet. It was charming at first and she pointed to various sales happening but it felt smothering after a while. I was taking my time buying some properly fitting bras and while I was there for about an hour she kept coming back toward my dressing room and leaning her entire body against the door while she asked if i needed help. This happened about 4-5 times and it was maddening. I could tell she thought I was taking too long because she kept saying "Take your time" about 7 times during my last 15 min. She was becoming impatient because she had to go on lunch and was worried that my purchase wouldn't be counted as her commission. She was not so sweet toward the end and gave me a "friendly" reminder that her name was "____" and to let the cashier know. I did however find some nice bras. read more
