A very sad excuse for a once proud department store. As a former employee I can attest to the fact that this location is well aware of its sub-par customer service and general laziness of the staff. At the core of the philosophy of the management at Macy's Towson is the concept that the best employees are not those who offer knowledge, assistance, and quality service to the customer. Instead they cling for dear life onto those who consistently "dog" customers to join Macy's credit program.
Be sure to stop and visit the main office located on the third floor if you're truly intrigued to see just how far customer service has slipped. The office staff is rude, entitled, and convinced that being office support staff at Macy's is really an accomplishment in life.
The store animals are fun for the kiddies if you're bored on an evening. They'll surely enjoy the many, many mice that scamper across the sales floor. Trust me, you cannot miss them. If mice aren't your thing, head outside the main store entrance on the middle floor in the evenings and gaze at some of Baltimore's finest. No - not the officers certain to be arresting someone for anything from theft to assault to murder - I refer of course to the giant rats! They're almost as big as a house cat, but nowhere near as friendly.
If you insist on supporting the sinking-ship of a business that is Macy's, I highly recommend looking to one of their other locations. If Towson is unavoidable there are some good sales people who still provide the level of service Macy's was once known for having had. Oh, and read all sale signs! This store is notorious for marking things incorrectly and you'll be certain to find some unexpected discounts. Remember friends, Baltimore may be the "city that reads" but Macy's Towson is certainly the store that can't. read more
