I needed a rental for a wedding and the groom selected Jos A Bank for his suit. Never been in one until now, and it is much nicer than Men's Wherehouse (also cheaper for rental than the last time I was at MWH). When I arrived I was greeted by Ryan, I believe he actually may be one of the top managements at the location. Ryan was extremely professional and is extremely knowledgeable. He ensured that everything looked good and wanted me to look my best for the wedding. The measurements did not take too long, and the suit came a few weeks before the event. When I tried it on my jacket was loose due to me losing weight and didn't look as sharp as I wanted it to. I came back to the store and spoke with Ryan again who asked me to try it on one more time while he was there. As soon as I put it on he looked at me and agreed it was too big. He got another jacket and made sure it would fit properly. The new jacket came in before the event and the return was incredibly easy. The suit was very comfortable to wear for over 12 hours. Looked sharp too. I will note that typically with suit jackets and tuxedos my shoulders begin to ache during the event and for days afterwards. I did not have that problem this time. All in all my experience was great. As I was waiting I would see Ryan training others and ensuring that they were educated and professional. No corners were cut. This speaks volumes for the management of the store, and should follow down to the other employees. read more

My experience here today was exceptionally disappointing. I called ahead to confirm that the store would press suits, but when I showed up, I was told that only suits that were recently dry cleaned would be pressed. I don't quite follow the logic there, since the suit that has been dry cleaned is typically also pressed at the same time. I have about a dozen Joseph A Banks suits, and probably 30 shirts, so I am fond of the products, but not of the service. I am brand new to the area and will find someplace else to shop. read more

I bought a $464 suit at Joseph A. Bank and during the fitting, the seamstress/tailor said the right sleeve looked good but that we needed to shorten the left sleeve three-quarters of an inch. I pointed out that I'm 68 and have been buying professional suits for the past 45 years and not once did anyone try to shorten only one sleeve. They insisted they were measuring correctly and I was assured it would look great. I picked up the tailored suit today and the seamstress says "The left sleeve is too short and needs to be lengthened three-quarters of an inch". Back to square one. I mentioned that I questioned the original shortening of the sleeve, and she started talking about how everybody has different arm lengths ("It's common knowledge. Didn't you know that?"). When I assured her that I did not have different arm lengths, she started saying my shirt sleeves were different lengths and that the problem was that I needed to get my shirts tailored. I told her I was only interested in getting my suit to fit properly and didn't want to argue with her any longer about whether the problem was with the suit, my shirt, my arms, or an unequal pull of gravity in their fitting area that was making my right arm longer than my left. The tailor was still insisting that the problem wasn't with the tailoring of my suit when I had had enough and said "Goodbye" to Joseph A. Bank. This was the most insulting customer service that I have seen in quite some time. They seemed more interested in proving themselves right than in helping me leave the store with a properly fitted suit. I will never return to Joseph A. Bank ever again the future. I have taken the jacket to my local drycleaner who does alterations and never argues with me about what needs to be done to get it fitted properly. I don't seem to be alone in rating Joseph A. Bank so low. Just check out the other customer reviews. This store just doesn't give a crap. I tried to leave a zero-star rating but the system will not allow me to do so. I had a similar experience to those below. I bought four suits and had to provide my phone number to be called when the pants were cuffed. Estimated ten days, no call.... Stopped by and picked up the pants after two weeks. Got home and put the pants on and noticed the side seam was split on these brand new pants in two places. It get's better... Returned the pants and was advised they could be fixed and it would take ten more days, no apology, no accommodation just we'll call you when they are ready......Again No Call, why do they keep demanding my number if they don't call? Stopped by after two weeks and the salesman retrieved my now repaired pants by my last name. When he came out I reached for the pants to check the side seam and he wouldn't let go of them to inspect the repair until I gave him my phone number. Literally wouldn't let them out of his hand as if after all this I was going to run out of the store with someone else's pants. It was a really bad experience re the quality of the suit and service. I wrote an email to the service department, and was called by the store manager who advised he really couldn't address my issue as I didn't have either of the salesman's names. At first glance this place looked great, the selection is huge. It was recommended to me by a colleague. Being a young adult, I had little knowledge about suits and sizes but I needed a couple new suits for my job. The customer service was not great at all, I was rushed and the salespeople weren't helpful. I left that place learning absolutely nothing. Although I didn't want to, I ended up buying a set because I was desperate. The tailor who chalked up my length spent no more than 10 seconds on my altercations. I was rushed out of there faster than Ussain Bolt himself. Better yet, the suit took 2 weeks to get my tailored. What? The length of my pants were way too long, I look like a 13-year-old wearing his dad's dress pants. Spent $30+ on tailoring just to look like a fool. The blazer was wrinkled after 1 day of wear. The quality of the suit was absolutely horrendous. Spend $450 else wear. I will be going to Nordstrom's from now on. read more

Two of us walked in, both needing new sport coats. We were not greeted in a professional manner but told that the sport coats were on the wall and instead of taking us over, she pointed and said she would get someone. The someone she got had been hanging out in the empty part of the store, watching us come in, and made no effort to greet us. He comes over, I explain what we need and for what. He then decides to speak to one of us, and that us wasn't me. He helps my husband find the only coat in the shop in his size they have and the material was horrible. Then he tells my husband that he needed to go to XML (I should note that he wears a 46L, which is a standard size). This sales clerk never once looked anything up on the computer, never suggested getting an online item into the store for a fitting, never once suggested another JAB store. And then he starts to walk away. When I said "excuse me" he just gave me a look when I reiterated that we both needed sport coats, and did they have anything in my size. He just looked annoyed, asked what size, I again explained that neither of us had worn a suit jacket for four years, and just starts pulling stuff off the rack. He never measured either of us. I did find a coat that I liked, but his attitude was horrible. For a company that prided itself on service, I am at a loss. But it was hands down the worst experience in a JAB store. Everyone in there needs training and a good nap, because they certainly were unpleasant and unprofessional. And they won't get a sale from us. read more

If you are approached by James Bucalo, run in the other direction. He will pick out the most expensive suit and then try to help four other customers at the same time. We picked out our own suits and then when we needed a new size he came back with the wrong size and a suit twice the price. Also when he found an older customer who appeared to have more money, he left us altogether and used the excuse that he was tied up with them when he approached us First. We had other sales guys helping us and who were generally interested in making sure we were being helped. If James receives commission, we should have received it in the form of a discount since he was absolutely worthless. He had horrible customer service and I'm sure Jos. A. Bank headquarters would be horrified at how he deals with customers. read more

I purchased a suit online (last day of a great sale and could not get to the store). Had some issues in the online ordering process, but got that worked out. The biggest deal was that the pants came in only a 39 inch waist and the online support asked me to go into the store to get them fitted... Here is where things go bad! I walk in with a box under my arm and you would think I was spraying napalm. No one in the store except associates and myself and all of them are running the other direction. Some guy got the short straw and I could tell he was not amused to be helping me. Started getting short with me and telling me "I don't understand what you mean by the pants don't fit". Then, when we get on the same page, this guy looks at me and says "you know, we can only let those out so far...." WTF! I wear a size 40. I am not proud of this, but I am not the biggest guy in the room 90% of the time. I tell him that customer support asked me to bring them in to the store and that there should be enough room to make the adjustment.... That is when he looks at me and condescendingly tells me there will be a charge! I was like "so... when you sell a suit, you charge them extra to fit it?" I was shocked. Now, it gets even better.... He looks at me and says "YOU can RETURN IT, if you prefer"!!!!! I say again WHAT THE FLYING FUGGERNUT! Are you kidding me? I went in knowing that I would not be getting these pants back in time for an important meeting. I knew that I would need to buy a pair of slacks, at least. Really wanted a new tie, shirt and belt to complete the look. I walked out with nothing. Drove home pissed. Called customer service and am now writing this. Go here if you want. I planned on getting a suit at this location but the salesman I had the pleasure of meeting ruined my whole experience. After finding the size I had requested, he had decided to not relinquish the suit and keep it in his hands. Then, he started to get very impatient after waiting literally one minute, yes 60 seconds, and demanded that I buy the suit that he had picked out immediately. He really did asked me, "DO YOU WANT THIS SUIT OR NOT?" He started to have a fit that I did not decide at that instant if I wanted to buy a suit that I 1. did not try on 2. did not know the exact pattern and shade of color 3. did not know price of the suit. Needless to say, I was furious. I really wanted to videotape the whole thing and put it on youtube. I would have had 10 million hits in a week. Didn't make a scene and I left. Thinking about it, the salesman could have had a mental ailment as no one in their right mind would treat any customer that any establishment in this way. Either way, this was the worse retail experience I've ever had...much, much worse than buying a car. BTW, ended up getting a suit at Neiman Marcus Last Call at Arundel Mills. I have purchased no less than ten suits from Jos A Bank dating back several years. I have found that the quality of their merchandise has slipped that last few years. I fear this will become even more so with them being purchased by Mens Warehouse. The one saving grace was I could justify the poor quality with not paying much for the clothes. Now, I have no reason due to Mens Warehouse prohibiting sales. I will go to Brooks Brothers or Nordstrom. It is too bad, because I like their dress shirts, but they have priced themselves out. Customer service is okay. If you do not look like you are there to buy a suit, they generally ignore you. This is fine until you need help. Last time they did this, I went and found the busiest person and bought three suits from her. Ever since being purchased by Men's Warehouse quality has been subpar and fit has been inconsistent. I went to purchase a couple pair of shorts yesterday and the stock in general was poor and most all of the shorts were tailored or slim fit only a handful of traditional. I wasn't going to miss this sale, which is taking place for Memorial Day weekend. It was the perfect reason to check out Jos. A. Bank for the first time. Jim, one of the employees, helped out by finding out my current measurements and led me in the right path. I was able to pick up a suit that suited me near perfect. With a minor alteration, the suit will be perfect. Just as a note, alterations take 10 days - 2 weeks at this particular location. I can't talk for each and every Jos. A. Bank location. Such a horrible experience and it's not over yet. My spouse went to Jos A Banks in Towson because he had positive experiences in the past. Neil, our salesman, seemed knowledgeable and spent a good deal of time finding a suit that he felt would be best, and explained that tailoring would take care of the poor fit in the shoulder. Everything seemed fine until we went to pick up the suit. Several salespeople noticed issues and pressed it a total of 3 times. This didn't solve anything. The tailor had recommended shoulder pads (spouse has small shoulders and a slight slouch) and the shoulder pads were huge and clownish and the armhole seams were pucked. So Neil and the tailor pulled a different suit off the rack and started over. After tailoring the second suit it was equally unusable. A salesperson and manager looked it over and made the comment that both my husband and I could fit together in the suit. They got the tailor who insisted that there was nothing wrong with the suit. He addressed us in a belligerent and hostile manner and kept insisting there was nothing wrong with the suit and said, "show me what's wrong!" I was so angry I had to walk away. The manager took over and said that due to my spouse's slouch and small shoulders, he would need to go into a custom made suit. She said that Neil, the original salesperson, had chosen a suit that was 3 sizes too big. We said, "why didn't Mr. Glen recognize the mismatch and find another suit?" There was no answer. So they measured him for a custom-tailored suit at no charge and put a rush on it. We're hoping (but have no confidence) that this suit--if we get it in time for the wedding--will be any better. Apparently when it comes in it will need a little further tailoring to be done in the store. So that gives Mr. Glen another shot at ruining it, and the wedding is now a week away. We are considering getting a suit from Macy's, and putting a rush on shortening the pants, and letting out the sleeves. What a waste of time, and it's not over yet. We seriously don't understand why the tailor still has a job and how they stay in business. Avoid, avoid avoid! read more

Went to Jos. A. Bank in Kenilworth to purchase suits for my wedding. It turned out to be the most stressful, unpleasant and tedious aspect of my entire wedding planning experience. I purchased 8 suits in April 2016. I gave the salesman all sizes (we used the same sizes from another wedding we were in during February 2016, those suits were also provided by Jos. A. Bank, so sizes should be uniform) for my groomsmen and he pulled the suits directly off the racks. Paid for them in full at that time and Jos. A. Bank was to hold them until we need to have them altered. I was told to come back 3 weeks before the wedding date for alterations. The wedding is August 20 and we began coming in on Aug. 1. This is where the fun begins. First, multiple groomsmen came to pick up their suits and the sizes were all wrong. Jackets would fit, but the pants were extremely large. This is were I learned of "nested suits". Keep in mind, this was not explained to me in April. Why would I have paid for pants that were 6-8 sizes too large?? While discussing this issue/problem with the suits, multiple sales reps made me and my wedding party feel as though it was our fault. It was like pulling teeth trying to solve this issue. After spending an hour in the store, the manager finally rush ordered correct pants. Another issue we had was with the alterations themselves. One groomsmen had to pay $160 for alterations. How on earth can alterations cost $160??!! (Unless he has a third leg I'm not aware of) If alterations are going to cost $160, then he most likely is in the WRONG size pants!! Just give him the right size! Multiple groomsmen had to go back on multiple occasions because alterations were done incorrectly. Lastly, the FATHER OF THE BRIDE went to pick up his all grey suit and was given grey pants and a NAVY BLUE COAT!!! My experience at Jos A. Bank was awful. The customer service was horrid! I will never go back to Jos. A Bank again in my life, in addition, I wll not be recommending them to anyone else. You would think they would know what they are doing since they SPECIALIZE IN SUITS!!! Everything was fine and everyone was accomidating when I was paying $3000, but when the time for real service came, Jos A. Bank fell way short of the mark! Regina was so great to work with!! She was so incredibly patient with my mom and I - we had a long list of Christmas items to get for multiple people in different sizes and styles and she never once seemed bored or frustrated. She knew the inventory, the sales they had going, and made sure that all of our discounts went through at the register. The store itself is clean, well laid out, and well organized (despite my ruffling through of the perfectly folded ties, sorry Jos. A Bank). Horrible customer service! I was standing in front of the tux desk while two employees were entering info into the screen. It took them ten minutes to acknowledge the fact there was an customer standing there. When the employees did look up they were rude and short with me. I was planning on spending about $600 on a new tux, but instead walked right out. Stopped by for a quick look around -in need of a bow tie for the upcoming Preakness races..nice enough salesman asking if he can help me; however since the ties are right when you walk in not to difficult to point me in the right direction - when I mentioned that $70 dollars for a bow tie was more than I intended to spend and when I asked if they were all the same price- a quick "yes" is all I got. The Positive -they have a large selection of ties; The negative is that they are priced higher than Nordie's. This was a great value but I was buying it as a gift for my brother who lives across the country and the whole experience was a nightmare. First the store lost the order for no apparent reason a while and he had to make a second trip back to the store once they figured out they had the suit all along. The other huge issue was there was no way for me to have it tailored for him. My only option was to buy a gift card here and send it to him via snail mail and hope that it had enough on it to cover the cost, since they couldn't tell me how much it would cost to have it done. I even asked the store if he could come in and have it fitted and then they could call and tell me exactly how much to send on the gift card and they refused. When I asked them not not tell him how much it was going to cost they refused to do that too! There was no way for me to hide the amount of money I spent on his gift which made the whole thing very awkward. I won't shop here again. Thank you Jos. A Bank for ruining my gift! The best part is when I posted this same review on their site the only response I got was a notice saying they had taken it down! It said that my review did not not meet their criteria for posting since it "drives business away". It is not my review that drives business away, it is they way they treat their customers. About a month ago I stopped in Jos. A. Banks in search of a couple suits for work and was pleasantly greeted by the assistant manager Ernesto Belleggia. Due to my build or poor genetics I've had a tough time finding a suit that fits comfortably and have been quite deterred from investing in any suit due to the sheer fit of terror I often ran into. Ernesto presented a custom suit option at a reasonable price so I gave it a try. He displayed nothing but patience and professionalism throughout the entire process. I just picked my suits up today and they fit perfectly as promised. The entire experience could not have went any better. Went to rent suit's for my wedding. Process was horribly slow and painful, and took a little over an hour to complete. Suit's were supposed to be ready 1 week before my wedding date, but didn't arrive until 2 days prior. When I went for final fitting, the pants or suit jacket did not fit. Of my 5 groomsmen, 4 had issues and 2 had to come back the morning of the wedding. DON'T EVER USE FOR WEDDING RENTALS!!! P.S. If your trying to buy a suit don't go to Xavier or any of the old guys. I could write a novel about the frustrating, insulting experience we recently had at Banks, but I will try to be brief. I should note that I am writing this review going on the 20th minute of being on hold while someone goes to check to see if the suit we ordered last week is in - not sure if he went to Italian Gardens to grab a slice or is throwing pennies in the fountain? Update: it might have been sent out for alterations even though we specifically said several times we needed it by Saturday and that turn around was guaranteed each time. "But, actually, not sure where it is so hold on again please so I can go search for it." And... "Sorry for the hold, I am the only manager on the floor today and dealing with a lot of issues" - no surprise there, the issues must be endless given the customer service. The customer service is appalling. There seem to be several people working the floor at once, but absolutely no organization as to who is doing what or who is helping who. Several people walked in while we were there and everyone sort of stood around awkwardly trying to figure out how to be helped. All but one of the sales people seemed to be in terrible moods and gave attitude when I asked to look at navy blue suits in my husbands size a woman stormed away to another side of the store - I assumed that meant she would help me and I should follow her? - and proceeded to make me feel clueless and stupid when I asked some follow up questions since mens' suits do not happen to be my area of expertise (Isn't that your job?). It would have been impossible to walk away from the shopping experience in a good mood. It is dirty - there were legit dust bunnies along the tops of the dressing rooms. The only reason we went through with the purchase was because we dragged our newborn out of the house on one of the only nights before a future event that my husband was not traveling and really needed to pull the trigger on a new suit/we had a gift card. I will not be returning to Banks in Kenilworth under any circumstance in the future. Complete nightmare. read more
