I was there on a Friday midday and was surprised by how messy the store was for only being open for 2 hours. It seems like it wasn't properly cleaned up before closing. The tops section was disorganized with a section for tanks that was oddly disrupted by regular blouses and then sweaters... and then more tanks. It was confusing to shop through and made it more difficult to find what I was looking for. I also noticed the prices being incredibly high for mediocre items (I literally saw a Gold's Gym tshirt someone probably got for free being priced at $9.99). A lot of items were damaged including a Free People top I would've totally bought had it not been missing beading and still priced at $20. I purchased a dress that was originally $12.99 but because the straps were safety pinned on and beading was missing, they were nice enough to give me a 10% discount. However, once I got home I noticed the sensor was left on the dress! Super disappointing and annoying since I don't live nearby. The dressing rooms were filthy with dust bunnies and clothes piled up all around the rooms with very few people working to get the area cleaned up. This place has boasted about how they weren't a normal "thrift store" because the shopping experience is supposed to be elevated thanks to the cleanliness and organization. But I'm afraid they've really lost their touch in both respects there. It's tough to justify paying the elevated prices when the customer experience isn't what it used to be.

Ebony was a delight to work with and she was very knowledgeable about the pieces, the different options, and how to dress items up or down. The inventory is extensive and they are particular with what they accept for consignment, they review condition on all items so a lot of the stuff is very gently used, almost new. I couldn't resist and decided to purchase items and just ship them to myself back home. I bought a shawl/jacket in the most wonderful Olive Green color that is perfect for walking and driving in. I also got the softest scarf. Customer service was top notch. I saw this scarf on display on a mannequin and I asked if it came in different colors and they went to go look since I am not a big fan of the browns in my attire choices. I got a gray/black combo scarf. Since we had cooled down significantly as we were shopping, we got hungry and asked if we could place the items on hold since we didn't want to carry our purchases until the end of our exploration and headed back to the car. I gave them my name, they placed the items on hold and we went to eat. When we came back, the store associate remembered my name and that our items were on hold. She also told me that they have a website with many items for sale from their actual sales floor that could be shipped and proceeded to tell me how the store got started. She wrapped the items with care and off we were. Prices are completely reasonable for a store of this caliber. This store could easily fit into the vibe of Stanford Shopping Center, Santana Row, downtown Carmel, etc.....but I KNOW that this place will blow any rivals strictly due to their fair pricing, storefront size and their unique items. The edit is solid -- everything from Hermes (yes, I spotted a pair of immaculate riding boots, sadly not my size) to The Row, Prada, Chanel... even some more accessible gems from brands like Mansur Gavriel. I lucked out and found a pair of Prada Monolith loafers that are still available in-store at full price -- except mine were half the cost and looked like they'd maybe been worn once. Maybe. Such a good score, plus I got to support a small business, which always feels better than buying direct from some corporate mega-retailer. And shout out to Julia, who works there -- she was fantastic. Super helpful, super knowledgeable, and when the right shoe went missing (yes, really), she helped me tear the place apart to find it. Before I could even blink she had a seamstress in from a local shop, who came and got the dress to repair on their dime. I honestly didn't notice the issue until Krista pointed it out, she's got an eagle eye. Krista was amazing at coordinating the dress pickup a few days later. I couldn't get out of calls from work so she got the dress delivered to me! I cannot get over how amazing they are, and will ALWAYS recommend Ella Rue. Consider me a customer for life!

The fit was so perfect (and I have a hard shape to fit, skinny legs, thick waist) that I googled the label in hopes of finding more on ebay. The brand is Westport and the logo says W62 - so if you ever see this brand in your thrift store travels scoop them up! Anyway..... Low and behold they carry these jeans at Dress Barn. I do own a few Dress Barn labels from my thrifting scores but never pants. That fit was so perfect I had to go and get more and it was perfect timing too because I just happened to get Tanger Outlet coupons in the mail - double score! I called the store and described what was on the label of the jeans I had and she quickly found a pair and put them at the counter for a 24 hour hold. $29.99 (on sale) is still a bit more than I like to spend, even with the 25% Tanger but that fit.... All I can say is I walked out with not one, not two, not three, but FOUR pairs of this great jeans, all for a whopping $40!!! And that total includes a scarf! How you ask when they were $29.99 a piece? Well.....they had some sales racks in the back and I can never walk past a sales rack. Turns out they had the same jeans, same size only in petite on clearance (which actually fit even better) combined with my 25% Tanger coupon. The $40 total also included a great infinity scarf I found on clearance in the 70% section. Actually there was quite the collection of clearance items for 30%, 50, and & 70% off. Love me some clearance racks!!! Aside from the clearance racks the regular priced items were very fashionable and they had plus sizes in the same styles as misses. I loved the majority of clothes they had and any of the pieces could easily fit nicely in my wardrobe for casual and business, but not at those prices. Not that they were bad, they were just...well, retail, and um I don't pay retail, hence the 4 instead of 5 star rating. The two sales gals were wonderful as well, one even worked there for 20 years, that's unheard of in retail. The dressing rooms were clean and well lit. Overall the store had a nice flow and pretty displays that made it hard to walk away (must.remember.I.don't.pay.retail). One thing is for sure...I will be back, and often, to check those clearance racks!
