I was shopping with my visiting sister-in-law and we decided to check out Macy's at the mall. Haven't been in an actual Macy's store for a year...started ordering everything on line. The new Spring-Summer clothes were in and the selection was very good. Tried on some fun clothes and decided on an Ann Kleine jacket. So cute, fit really well! Then the clerk tried very hard to push a "new" Macy's credit card on me. I hadn't brought my physical Macy's charge card since this visit was impromptu. It made me super-uncomfortable because I refused it but she kept pressing, even telling me that she couldn't locate my account after I (stupidly) gave her my social security number! Just trying to collect an extra commission on signing up a customer for a charge card that wasn't needed. Then, at home, I looked up the Ann Kleine jacket online. It was a much better price! I came in with my family a few weeks ago and my boyfriend and I went to the men's department to buy him a tie. The cashier Topher, was extremely loud and made me, and my family including my boyfriend very uncomfortable, he was in our space bubble, again extremely loud, made me feel unsafe and lowkey like i needed to get ready to run at any moment, I don't usually say things in reviews however, at one point because my boyfriend and I were discussing the tie to get him for Eid al-Fitr and he seemed visibly annoyed and walked away when we clearly needed help. It was extremely hurtful and I will not be returning as long as people like that work there. And when we were finally ready to check out we went over to him and he pushed a credit and told us there was zero interest, however looking at the pamphlet that was a blatant lie. Got a new account last year in order to save additional %age (saved quite a bit). Used my new acct number recently then a few days later, went to Macys.com to see when payment due. Card didn't appear on the site under my sign-in. Tried to add card, didn't work. Got on chat and got no help via AI so phoned customer service. After trying several options for help, finally chose "fraudulent charges" to try to get a live rep. I was transferred to customer service that had 45-minute wait! Nope, not happening. Today I got an email from Macys - yay! Several links in the email to check your balance, pay your bill, schedule a payment. None of the links worked. Have no idea when my bill is due. Will go in to the store (1 hr drive) and cancel the account. Don't think I'll be shopping there anymore. I don't think customer service is much of a priority for Macy's these days. read more

The service is fine. I sometimes find shoes there. I find their collection of clothing very limited. I am always looking for some classic clean looking pieces and they are hard to find anywhere! I just see alot of that "obvious it's polyester" fabric and gaudy designs at Macy's. There is a market for classic styles. I was in the mood to buy a Patricia Nash purse but their offering is so limited compared to Tacoma store. My kids always used Macy's for gift card presents for my wife. We have shopped with those cards there at least 10 times. No more. The last time we used a card, the clerk scratched the pin number off and it was not readable. He rang up the purchase without issue and let us know that it wasn't a problem on future purchases. However, when we tried to use the card again, we were told it was unusable. My son contacted Macy's corp. and was told we should try again, because it's not a problem. We returned on their assurances and were again refused. Macy's is not an option anymore. read more

I used to love shopping here, because the customer service was so great, but in the past few years my experience has not been the same. They were my go to store for bras, because I always knew someone would be there to fit me and help me find exactly what I needed. Last time I went bra shopping I left after waiting for more than an hour for an associate. Almost without exception I am unable to find an employee to help me in any of the departments. I've ended up walking out on more than one occasion. Last Christmas I would have done more of my shopping there, but my husband and I couldn't get questions answered on anything. I am in a wheelchair and had a great experience in shopping at Olympia WA Macy's a week ago. From the very beginning when there was a handicap door that opened automatically I was very pleased. When shopping, I had two ladies assisting me and finding just the right sweater that I was looking for and I ended up buying three of them as they were on sale. The aisles were fairly wide in between the racks of clothes and it was easy for me to get around in my electric wheelchair. I would definitely shop there again thanks to Macy's employees for a great shopping experience. read more

This Macy's is just horrible. The selection is always very minimal and customer service 9 times out of 10 is severely lacking. I have lived in Oly most of my life and only go here when I dont have time to drive to the Tacoma Macy's. Trying to get someone in the shoe department to help you is like trying to pull teeth from an alligator. Impossible unless you track someone down and follow them around with the shoes you want to try on, in your hand. This store is small but come one, who are your buyers? Can you at least try to compete with other dept stores in the area? There is a market in Oly for clothing - seriously Macy's! The only positive that I can think of is that the lady;s at the Clinique counter are awesome - that is the only reason I am giving them one star. read more

I came here to find a suit for a wedding. I will say that they had a lot of separates but mainly a lot of odd sizes that made it hard to piece together a full look. So, I headed over the suit sets and that's where the money was....literally. The sets are a little more pricey but honestly, I like the pieces to match just in case there is a slight difference in color that you sometimes find in separates. The colors look the same sometimes under the dim lighting that the store has and then when you get out in the sunlight you find out you have dark blue slacks with a black jacket. Anyway, I found a nice set and headed to the fitting room. I felt like I was going to step on a pin by walking on the floor, so I'd suggest just watching where your step. Surprisingly, the suit fit perfectly and the pants were great. They weren't super slim or tight like maybe something you might find at H&M and the set was much better in quality. I'm actually kind of glad I ended up in Macy's because I'll probably have this suit for a while and it will last. I consider my purchase as an investment. I also liked that they gave me a suit bag to keep it from getting dirty or wet. I also liked that they didn't try to force me to sign up for a Macy's card at the checkout. I rated three stars because sadly it seems that stores like this are dying out and the store seems dated, dark, and dank in many parts. I really didn't see anyone walking around in the store and there seems to only be 1 or 2 workers for several departments at one time so it was hard to find help when you needed it. read more

Racist cashier at merchandise returns at Capital Mall in Olympia. Her makeshift station was was setup away from the normal registers at the counter. She was directly in front of me when I got in line. Let me be clear, she was not with a customer and totally ignored me. Twice she said under her breath "hello returns may I help you". After 5 minutes a cashier opened up at the counter registers. As I walked towards the other available cashier, the one who ignored me said in a loud voice to the Caucasian woman next in line "hi can I help you". I just shook my head! Used to be a regular frequent customer....but now. i WILL NEVER,NEVER, EVER, EVER SET FOOT IN ANY MACY'S AGAIN....EVER. My daughter had her wallet stolen near my house Easter 2015. She did what we all do, canceled her credit and debit cards, and replaced her Driver's License Several months later she gets a notice in the mail that she has to appear in court in Olympia for SHOPLIFTING IN MACY'S. My daughter is a Security Post Commander for a local company and holds a degree in criminal justice. So she contacts Macy's and is told she is banned. Not stopping there, she goes to the store anyway and talks to security and asks them to let her review the security video or at least let them look at her and compare to the suspect. Absolutely not, they refused completely. So she went to the Olympia Police department and requested a copy of the report. She gets it and is absolutely shocked to see and read the report. 1. The person who they picked up ...and let go...looks nothing like her. 2. Had given a different address than listed on the I.D. 3. The security guard noted the i.d. and the suspect weren't quite a match, plus info provided wasn't quite right. DUH. 4. They let her go and handed BACK the i.d. to the suspect even though there was doubt about the match. My daughter took that report and showed the picture to folks who live near us. They knew exactly who it was, so with the address and name of the person who stole her identity she went to the local police and gave the info to the Olympia Police. Did anything come of that. NOPE. So my daughter had to take off time from work, go to court where the prosecutor took one look at her and said....THAT'S NOT THE SAME PERSON. Charges were dropped. Now back to Macy's. They gave back her I.D. that was stolen to the suspect, Did not contact the police to report their suspect had a suspicious I.D. Did not have enough brains to notice...UH hey this lady doesn't look 26...golly she almost looks 40. Golly the person is much taller and heavier than the person pictured in the i.d. (no the suspect did not even try to change the picture). They let all of that go....Oh and the addresses, and other info did not match. In fact for shoplifting the police are not usually contacted apparently. So my daughter asked Macy for an apology and to pay for credit monitoring for a year. They refused. She is sitll banned and no apology. Now the thing is if they had had possession of that I.D. by security they would be asked to do this. The worst part is due her job, this could have cost her job and may affect her future. that stolen i.d. is still out there. Macy's had their hands on it, could have had this person arrested. But they chose to be completely INCOMPETENT in this situation. By the way we have never heard back from any of the Police departments on the status. HELLO WE GAVE YOU THE ADDRESS AND ACTUAL NAME OF THIS PERSON. read more

I opened an account several weeks ago and I have not received my card I called customer service and explained my concerns about them insisting that the card can ONLY be mailed to a physical address. Well guess what folks....we DO NOT have a mail box at our house so you HAVE to mail it to my PO Box !! I have called customer service about 10 times now and have gotten a different answer from each one. I don't really care if I have a Macy's card or not as I can always us my Marriott Bonvoy credit card. It's a little disheartening when the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing !! I stopped by the Olympia Macys for some shopping while I was visiting from out of town. The store is segmented into 4 quadrants with a central area that contains accessories like jewelry, makeup, perfumes etc.. The quadrants are 3/4 womens/girls and about 1/4 mens which is a pretty big difference from my local Macys which is closer to half and half. That was sort of disappointing as the amount I had to browse through ended up being fairly small. I'd say about half the mens section was dedicated to suits and dressy clothing, a quarter to what I'd describe as "dad clothes" and a quarter that was stuff I might be interested in. Again this was kind of disappointing BUT I have to imagine that's just what works for them in the area so for some people this must be great. Overall the store was fairly clean, though for how much things cost the changing rooms weren't nice (like all Macy's I've been too). Lots of discarded clothes lying around, poor lighting and a general feel of an older brand. Still I found some nice pants and a shirt I liked and walked away being fairly happy with my purchase. read more

Macy's is the only place I can find clothes that fit. The clothes I buy last a long time so I don't need to shop too often. The petite's section is decent sized and I can always find something I need even during picked-over sales. The sales associates in the Petite's department have always been very nice and helpful. My husband went here to look for some work appropriate slacks. He found one pair that fit, but one of the sales associates let him know they could order his size. His pants arrived and they fit wonderfully. I enjoy the ladies at the Estee Lauder counter. (And, indeed the entire cosmetic section!) Everyone here is very nice, patient, and works with customers to meet their needs. I mention Estee Lauder in particular because it's one of the few product lines I'm not allergic to. The bedding section is nice during sales. I got a nice white/red floral comforter for my daughter's room because she kept taking the set I got as a gift. All matching items were also on sale, which was nice. read more

The item that My stepmom found was nice, but the lady at the register asked my step mom a minimum of 7 times if she wanted a Macy's Credit Card. First off, I'm not going to be "that guy" trashing a place to go against the grain. I want to review Macys because they disappoint me tremendously. Macys is a brand I expect more from. Like Coke for soft drinks, or Nike for athletic wear I expect the brand of Macys to be synonymous with department store excellence. I have found nothing to admire about our local stores. The west side of Olympia isn't kept to a standard I expect of the brand. A lot of finishing details aren't there. This is supposed to be again, Macys and I don't get that excitement when I'm there at all. I don't know why but my wife has a card there. I suppose their sales must be enough to entice her, because the stuff I see otherwise would make me leave and likely never return. Case in point. Her card has had issues with having the wrong name on it. I had seen this myself, and needless to say things got irritating and I had to walk away. They said the card was in this other persons name after my wife showed her license!! What?? The account had allegedly had this before a months prior but it had been "taken care of" when the cashier tried to help she ran into dead ends with what was available to her, so she called the store manager and explained that my wife's card had the wrong name and this wasn't the only time it had happened. The store manager had the cashier call the card customer service line ( this was not important enough to bring them out of the office?) , and after a 15 minute hold it turns out the card line was closed for the day. So, problem not solved, second time same issue. Then, a few weeks ago she ran into problems trying to do a return at the Tacoma store and was made to wait 15 minutes so that the cashier could get easier transactions out of the way first. So, maybe not all Macys are like this. Maybe it's just the way things go. BUT for me, I wouldn't waste the time with them just to get 25% cooking utensils 3 times a year. No thanks, and sorry Macys, but you're just not what I expect you to be. read more

The workers here are friendly in the mens jean department downstairs. My husband returned home from deployment and decided to redo his closet. We came here to buy his jeans. Literally, and i mean literally he bought over 20 pairs of jeans!! From 501s to 511s. We probably wouldve spent an arm and a leg if it wasnt for the sale associates working in that department. They told us about a sale going on and we save so much money! We did have to return a few days later to pick up the jeans, but they had it ready to go saved with our name on the bag! I highly recommend shopping here, especially in the mens section! All the associates down stairs went above and beyond their job to help us! I cant say the same for upstairs because they were kind of rude and looked down on us like we couldnt afford anything. The perfume and cologne area to be exact. read more

Excellent customer service experiences. I called the Olympia store on a Thursday to see if someone could help me place an online order for 2 separate items that were on sale(the sale ended that day) & even though the items weren't available in-store I had to order from the store because part of my payment was Macy's Cash(a paper coupon without a scannable code or number) & corporate couldn't help me because of that. Anyways, Yolanda was the fabulous associate that answered the phone & after I explained my situation she let me know I would need to come into the store to place the order. She made a detailed note of both items, my contact info.,said they would honor the sales prices when I came in, & she would let the associates working the next day know about the note & our conversation. She was so patient & caring with me as I was emotionally upset about the previous days phone call to corporate which included over a 2 hour hold time before I even spoke to a real person for 3 minutes who couldn't even help me. Yolanda made my day by going the extra mile to help me. Today I went into the store & an associate named Brittany knew exactly what I was there for after I mentioned talking to Yolanda the prior afternoon. Brittany said,"I have the note in the back room & we'll get this all taken care of for you. Don't worry." That's exactly what she did too. She placed the order using the sale prices, made sure I received my extra 25% off for using my Macy's CC, set up delivery to my home, & applied my Macy's Money to my payment. Both Yolanda & Brittany were Super Stars! They were kind, caring, not just willing but wanting to help me, had wonderful attitudes, & resolved each issue with a smile. (Under their masks of course) I left the store a very happy & satisfied customer & will be back again because of these fabulous ladies! read more

Today I went into Macy's to make a payment on my credit card account and a small purchase. In the middle of my purchase the clerk told me to take my card out of the reader, ignoring the $100 cash I was holding out and left saying she had to go upstairs. Another clerk came, but was on the phone for an extended period. I told her that I minded the other clerk leaving in the middle of the transaction and wanted to speak with the manager. It turned out she was the manager and she defended the other clerk and proceeded to argue with me for an extended period so that a line built up behind me. I guess they don't think the person standing in front of them handing them money is a worthwhile customer. read more

I went to the store to make a return. The Associate told me the new policy is 80 days. It says 190 days on the receipt. A manager came because I wanted to know if this was true. They returned my item and I put my debit card in the chip/signed the refund receipt. The refund amount of $100.00 never went back onto my card. I called the store to ask about it. The Associate that answered put me on hold without telling me. I was on hold for several minutes and I heard her talking with other Associates. She told me to call a number that is not even Macy's. They are not very friendly at this store. read more

Since Covid I have been using the online order systems of my favorite stores for pick up. Macy's makes it easy to order online and then has these special parking spots so you can let them know you're there to pick up your order, just as many other stores have done. But unlike other stores, Macy's makes you sit there. 20, 30, 40 minutes. Not once, not twice but 3 times now. You're out as far as I'm concerned. This last time, I sat there nearly an hour. Finally, I went inside. The guy at customer service apologized and said they were short staffed. I was police but firm wen I told him that they should let us know that so we can choose to come inside to pick up our order, as it only took 5 minutes inside! Another lady was still waiting in her car when I walked out. This is totally unacceptable. Also, unlike other stores, they don't bother to email any type of survey to let them know how they're doing. I really like Macy's. Their everyday prices are decent but their sale prices are AMAZING. Like really amazing. And the quality of the clothes is so much better than what you usually get now a days. They have a decently large selection of kitchen equipment of high quality. Look online before you come for coupons and sales. This store is disgusting & filthy! Spilled drinks, dust bunnies and a variety of unmentionable things (including blood) can be found in the dressing rooms. I've pointed this out and no one (management included) seems to care. I often wonder if I filmed inside the store and sent it to Corporate if they would take an interest? Marginal employees are uneducated about sales, promos and coupons. Service level and overall store quality has been declining since it stopped being the Bon and Macys took over. I have attempted to go to this MAC location for the past two nights before the mall closed at 9. Both nights, the doors were locked and the lights were off. I am very frustrated because now I am out of make up and there is no MAC store closer to me, and having previously working in a mall I know that mall stores stay open mall hours, not whatever hours they feel like closing. The woman I ended up speaking with at Sephora in JC Penney(much more friendly than any of the MAC employees by the way) told me that they've been closing every night at 8 or 8:15, sometimes 8:20 and that they get very grumpy when you knock on the door to ask them what's going on. Firstly, if you're going to close early you should at least pretend to have a consistent time to do so. Second, when you call this Macy's the automated system tells you they are open until 9pm. I ended up calling mall security to see what the deal was and he could not explain it to me. I would rather drive to Tacoma where the employees are friendly and they are actually open the hours they claim to be open. read more

Went in today to see if I could use my $25 coupon on a previous purchase I had made, and let me say this was the BEST customer service I have ever received. The cashier had told me I couldn't use it because It was a previous purchase and had to equal the amount of $100, after I had equaled out to $100 she said that I had actually gotten the jacket on sale so I couldn't do it. I was bummed out and she clearly saw that, so after a little confusion she actually gave me the coupon regardless of the rules! She saved me about $60, talk about making my day! read more

African American friend and I went there to buy some luggage. Two cashiers were assisting a woman at one time. Nobody greeted us. Nobody said "be right with you" Cashiers took they're sweet time talking about egg shell colored towels. Stood there for a while then sought out another cashier. Again two cashiers were assisting one lady in buying bras. Notice took any notice of us. Ignored us. So we dumped the luggage and took off. Is it because we were dressed down in sneakers and jeans...maybe? Racism? Probably. Pity because we were about to spend over 500 bucks. Took our business elsewhere. Some people act like they're superior because they work at Macy's. I've gone to this Macy's since I was a child, and most all of my interactions there have been amazing. They have great sales, and the employees are always helpful. Kenzie, Nicole and Claire have been the most helpful employees that I've shopped from. I don't understand why people are complaining that it's a "small store." I normally don't shop at Macy's but, a buddy told me he had a great experience with their customer service and the employees were very helpful so, I figured I would give it a shot. Walked in and two employees were at the register with one customer so, I started looking at suits (need a black one) and looked through all the racks with the two employees still talking and now the customer is gone so. I looked around another couple minutes (I was 15 feet away from them) and with no recognition or even a hello or we will be with you in a minute, I walked out the door. Absolutely, slow customer service!! I waited in line for 15 minutes behind one lady, and she only had three things to pay for. I should expected that because everyone who works there are old, but it seriously shouldn't take that long. I don't recommend this macy's at all, because you can't find help when you need it either.
