Will Macy's ever get enough service help. So sad.... I read the brand is actually making money so what's up?

I gave up on that Macys store and that mall.a long time ago. I live in San Clementre and decided to go to the Macys store in Carlsbad yesterday. The store is impeccable , great service and selection. The mall itself has other great stores and restaurants, too. read more

Both stars are for the friendly staff working at the register and to the person in optical who was helpful. This store has some reasonably decent merchandise but overpriced in my opinion. For example, a decorative pillow I looked at that was just okay was around $80. The store layout is what really stands out as being atrocious. There is no bathroom on the main floor where you enter, the elevators are almost impossible to find (not labeled on the store directory), things aren't clearly labeled overall, and the basement (where there is a bathroom) is labeled as the first floor. When I found the restroom, it was dirty, toilets not flushed, no soap in 3 out of 4 dispensers, and no paper towels. With the whole mall right there with a lot of options in every category, I don't see any good reasons to come back to this place. read more

This review for the shoe department. Whoever is working there (not the finishline) as maybe supervisor on Saturday, May 13, 2023 is the worst. She makes people wait in the cashier register line to get the size you are looking for. Let's say the size did not work, you need to get back in the cashier line to get the other size. Let me preface and tell you I've worked in retail my entire life. I genuinely am very forgiving and understanding, and will do my best to make retail employees' days better since I know how hard of a job it is. However, I stopped by the Macy's Mens/Kids store in Mission Viejo this morning to exchange two dress shirts for the exact same item but in a smaller size that i originally bought in the Newport Beach store. I regrettably brought the wrong receipt with me, and didn't have tags for the two dress shirts either. I didn't think it would be a big deal since the items were never worn and I just wanted to do an even exchange. Boy I couldn't have been more wrong!! After already waiting for 10 minutes in line, I was then scolded by the cashier in Men's Furnishings for not having the right receipt or tags for the exchange. She had trouble finding the items in her POS system because she was confusing herself about the sizes, hence which is why she couldn't find the transaction. After going back and forth with her for 5 minutes, I jumped in and helped her realize her own keying error. The entire time, she did not move with any sense of urgency, slowing taking her good old old re-ticketing the two returns items. I did not feel appreciated, even after I repeatedly apologized for any inconvenience I caused. Macy's- In this day and age of retail, you really cannot afford to lose any more customers in such a competitive marketplace. Please take care of your guests with a "yes" all the way mindset and retrain your employees to do the same. read more

The worse store & company!!! Except for my saleswoman who was awesome, the whole furniture department & their warehouse suck!!!! I purchased furniture in Jan 2022 & until today they have not delivered the right color of the furniture! Three deliveries & all of them with the wrong color! I complained & the manager told the rep for me to call the Customer Service!!! Guess what? Customer service has long hold & the lier reps who promise to take care of the issue & they never do!!!! read more

Pretty disappointed. I work in customer service and I had a hard time figuring out who worked there. Was circling around the store trying to find specific pants and after 10 minutes I gave up and went to another store to purchase what I was looking for. Maybe train the service staff to be more punctual on the floor so customers have a more easy purchase experience. read more

My family and I came here Memorial Day weekend to check out their Holiday sales wanting to check out their home department. We figured that they would have all sorts of sales going on and wanted to pick up a new European King bedroom sheet set, and possibly a new comforter and bed spread set. We saw on many of their signs how Macy's cardholders could get an additional 10 - 15% off, and were a little discouraged because we weren't Macy's cardholders and didn't want to sign up for another credit card. There were a few sheet sets that we had our eyes on, and were planning on either grabbing my Mom to purchase them on her Macy's card for the additional discount or checking out other competition stores nearby such as Bed, Bath and Beyond and Pottery Barn. Their 800 - 1000 thread count sets were going for roughly a hundred twenty-five dollars, so an additional 10 - 15% off the price would really save us some money. As we walked around in the department a nice saleswoman approached us showing us other nice options that they had telling us that she could give us a coupon worth 15% off our bedding. We were ecstatic! We had a long day of shopping and that had sealed the deal for us, so we ended up purchasing the 1000 thread count sheet set along with five boxes of Keurig coffee machine refills walking away saving a chunk of change. We are thinking of making a few more home department purchases shortly and will definitely keep Macy's in mind to do our shopping. read more

Not sure why they have such low ratings. We came here today, on the Saturday morning when they first open. Everyone was so nice and greeted us and offered to help us. I was looking for a particular Bicycle T-shirt in the Karen Scott department. Fariba was very friendly and helpful. She showed me some other nice things as well. The worst Macy's. Elderly casher with short curly hair at the Karen Scott section is the worst cashier I ever came crossed. No respect to customers. I was about to pay for merchandises and she simply put 'this register closed' sign right in front of my face. She should have a courtesy to tell me where the other casher was but she totally ignored me while I asked where. Management should train your worker how to be a nice customer service. Or similar training that Starbucks and DoubleTree Hotel had to have. We, customer pays their salaries. We should be treated with little respects. read more

Yes, the selection in this Macy's is still great, but what's lacking? Customer service. The last few times I have come, I have never seen the store associates work so sloely in my life. If you're going to have two people working one till, find out a system. (E.g. one person scans, another bags.) Don't try to walk on each other, and to do the same thing. Not efficient. Another time, a lady made it seem like a "chore" to check another store for a size. You should be happy to assist, and to refer business within the company. (After all, I would still be buying from Macy's.) Maybe Macy's should incentivize workers a bit more? Or make better hires? My favourite departments here are still housewares, ladies career apparel and cosmetics. read more

Only reason why I'm giving a 5 star is because of DAN's customer service. Did a online order before and was told I could pick up between 9-11 am. Arrived and it wasn't ready by the lady who attended me. Another lady who seemed to be management approached me and asked if I needed any help as I was half way telling her my situation she got a call and told me it would be easier to go get it myself. And walked away to finish her call. I was walking upstairs to get my product when I encounter dan he greeted me with a smile and asked me if I needed any help told him and he immediately took action found my order and took care of me. Been coming to this location for about 3 years. It's a huge store and when they have the big sales, it's worth coming with a Macy's card along with the coupons they send. They have a huge selection of clothes but they aren't always hanging in the right place. I've picked things up in clearance racks only to find out that it's not on sale. Of course, if I like it enough, it doesn't really matter. Last few times when I've been here, I ask if a salesperson can help with getting me a room or to hold my items while I continue to look. Both times, (different women) have told me that they are too busy and can't help. Which is the thing to say to me that makes me want to shop elsewhere. Usually, I would have just carried the stuff and gone to try out outfits two different times. But the way the last person answered (rude), made me hand her all the clothes I had selected to try on and leave. So if she had no clue about lack of customer service skills will make you lose commission, now she does. If and when I'm in the area, I'll come to this Macy's for the cosmetics department and shoes. Please do not ever buy any diamonds rings/Earrings from Macy's. stone quality was very poor and most embarrassing fact is that they hide that from customers. I bought a Diamond ring to my wife and after few days we realized there is a crack on the stone and went to return it. Macy's said we cannot return it and it was a final sale. I tried to make a return for a men's leather belt that was clearly not leather. It cracked after 4 months of wear but they said their policy is 3 months and it has to be in new condition. The manager would not stand behind the bad quality of this item. I told him I'm very disappointed and will not shop there again. He didn't seem to mind. read more

Received a pair of jeans as a birthday present - which came with a Gift receipt. Sadly it was too small so I went in to do a return because I didn't have time to shop around and try some on with my daughter. When the young associate scanned the item it said the item had already been refunded. I asked how since it was a present. She said it was returned on 11/09 and said nothing else. I asked her to try again. She did and the same thing popped up. She said she can print out a receipt for me. Before that I had to sign the keypad, which I did MULTIPLE TIMES but she wouldn't except it because it was "scribbled on". After the 7th try I refused the receipt and asked for my jeans back. SHE REFUSED stating the item had been returned already and not allowed to give it back. I told her to check the security cameras as I just came in and walked over to the first register I saw. SHE TOOK THE JEANS AWAY FROM MY SIGHT AND REFUSED AGAIN OFFERING NO SOLUTION. I told her I'm going to call the person who bought the item and she can talk to them. She said fine and went to help the next person in line. I used to work at work JCPenney (years ago) before Macy's took over and they have the exact same system - NEVER in my training were we told to not return items that "are shown as returned". This associate is just being a little cxxt. She's going to be hearing from corporate about this. Its customer service like this that makes businesses go out of business - and apparently Im not the only one to run into it here. I'm out a pair of jeans so Macy's owes me $75! read more

Summer-Sales rep at the women's fragrance section saved me during the holidays! I was looking for a sold out Men's cologne. I had gone to Kohl's, the Men's section of Macy's and Sephora and no one seemed to have this and was just few days away from Christmas. She went out of her way by taking the initiative to take down my number and triple check on all the inventory in the back. She called me the next day and placed it on hold for me when I confirmed. Macy's - Department Stores Near Me - Mission Viejo, California

There's no way to return a dress I had purchased in store. Curbside service won't issue a return and they won't email me a shipping label, so I can send this ugly dress back. They say I have to return store purchases to the store and now they've made it impossible to do so. In the meantime I've received the bill and must pay or risk damages to my credit. Talbots immediately emailed me a return shipping label for a store bought item I wanted to return, making it easy. From now on I'm buying all my clothes at Talbots. It's no wonder this Macy's is going out of business. read more

It all comes down to customer service and quality control; this place can't deliver and those are the primary reasons why they will continue to fail. Even with all the great deals this place offers, they still continue to sink...it's incredible. Their website, for instance, is pure ad propaganda trash. I'm begging them to take my holiday money via online order but it's so awful that I simply gave up. It keeps adding free gifts to my shopping cart but then when I try to check out, it says I'm ineligible for the free gifts that THEY keep adding. I proceed to delete these free gifts only for them to keep re-adding them when I check out lol. They are failing at taking my money lol. So I unfortunately gave it to Amazon for $80 more. Apparently they are allowed to let customers come behind the counters. There's no register help anywhere. We were walking through macys on our way to build a bear for my daughters birthday when I found the singing mickey Mouse I'd been looking everywhere for. I had my kids with me and my friend took my daughter to the toy play area and I waited in line for 30 minutes while these two women were searching things up behind the register. My son was getting crazy (1yr old) by then and throwing himself around crying and the ladies gave me rude glaring looks like "contain your child" well maybe if they spent less time gossiping and helping that would be easier to do. what's more irritating is that I could t find the register to begin with and the bald guy giving someone else a talk told me to go to that register which was the customer service desk in the toy section. Won't go back. No one cares about the customers. read more

I do not usually shop on-line but given the situation with the pandemic I thought I would give it a try. I actually liked the shopping experience and the ordering was easy. Got a text and email that my purchase was ready and I could pick it up curbside. Easy and safe I thought. I first went to Home Depot and the Habit also for curbside pickup. Both experiences went on without a hitch. Not so at Macys. First there are 2 stores and I was not clear on which store to go to and the messages were of no help. When I finally got to the pick up location I called the number and a recording said to wait while I was connected. No connection was ever made. Tried again and no one answered the line. Finally saw a Macys security person who took me into the store to stand in line to get the merchandise. There were many people ahead of me and all the while I was worried about my car sitting in the fire lane unlocked in front of the store. They need to make sure that they are properly staffed if they want offer this service. Hope they get it right by Christmas. read more

Went to this Macy because It was closer to the area I was in, wasn't really impressed. Parking is cool because are had a parking structure, prices were like at any Macys but customer service was terrible. We went to the men's side of Macy's if you've ever been here you know that the women's and men's are 2 separate Macys if you've never been NOW you know , but I found out by a rude employees go acted as If I had to automatically know this. Went to the men's de to get a gift for my brother in laws bday and the cashier was talking sooooooo much with the clients that each transaction took about 9-10 minutes longer, my husband And I grew a bit impatient so we decided to go to the cashier closer to our exit. The cashier was upset because we went to his area , called someone for an override , I'm not totally sure what the person on the other end said but on my side what we heard was "I don't know why, they keep coming over here, but they are all coming over here " he finally put the code in and I gave him a birthday coupon I received online and he said just wait until I ask you for a coupon. Very unpleasant transaction, also the entire process took about 20 minutes. I've never taken so long to check out , never experienced something so awkward. Finally we walked to the women's side , but by then honestly my husband and I just wanted to leave. We usually go to the Macys in Lakewood but like I said we were close to this location, should've checked yelp lol they didn't have a good rating to begin with. Ughhh read more

Attempted to purchase cologne today. The two women working the counter seemed very disinterested in the customers there. The one woman that did approach us asked if we needed help and then walked away before we could even reply. She never came back. We did not make a purchase. Yes it's the holidays.. but no one else was at the counter. We were the only customers at the counter at that time. I was buying clothes with my nana, I wanted to go try some cute pants on. I walked into the dressing room thinking it would look nice but, no I almost puked my brains out. There were countless possible coffee or God knows what on the "Carpet." There were loose threads, stains, trash and even gum stuck to the carpet in the corner. When I took my shoes off I did not want to ruin the new socks my mom bought me. So I stood on the bench. It is a pity that the management cannot clean up the area where people dress. I personally think they need management that actually care about the environment their customers dress in. When I put my shoes back on I tried counting stains but there were too many. I pity the owner and everyone who was supposed to clean it up. I will never shop there again in my ENTIRE life. I may shop there again when they actually get new carpets and clean the rooms. I noticed that the clothing racks were unorganized. The man at the register was very kind... I wanted to tell him but... What could he do? Unfortunately, this Macy's location has had a serious decline over the past decade. In 2017, it seemed this location began an exciting renovation. However, it is now 2022 and there is still parts of the bottom floor of the main building that are curtained and closed off for what I assume is the continual and mysterious renovation project? In addition, their bathrooms are a complete disgrace! They are in dire need of a deep clean up and renovation! There is still outdated bathroom fixtures and dangerous cracks in the tile and countertops. In addition, there is a pungent rancid scent or perhaps, a mold like odor that reeks through the bathroom hallway entrance and elevators. It discourages many who have shopped as Macy's customers for years to cancel our Macy's loyalty credit cards and rather, opt to shop with their competitors. The whole experience and decline of what was once a successful and pleasurable department store is surely a sad sight to see. read more

Mom and I love this Macy's since the one near Laguna Woods Village closed! We are so happy it has reopened! Mom wanted a new eyebrow pencil that was simple for her to use. There are many options in the Cosmetics Department. Where does one even begin!? We were so grateful to JUAN CARLOS who immediately offered assistance! He explained the differences between the various options and made a suggestion that sounded perfect! JUAN CARLOS was very kind and patient with my Mom and allowed us time to browse with no pressure. Curbside pick up is a lie! Don't get fooled Macy's says they have curbside. Park, call and pop you trunk! NOPE!!! All apaces are full of unoccupied cars. They do not answer the phone in the pick up area by the way they don't answer any of the phones in any of the departments. Don't do it. I'm handicapped and I tried for two solid days my last attempt was 45 minutes long! read more

My wife bought 10 articles of clothing one eveing before the store closed. Almost all 10 items were on half off. They didnt give here the correct price. Not even close... the lady just kept on scanning and arguing with my wife. So ridiculous..so a couple of days later we went back to the check stands and the lady finnally gave my wife the correct price. Which was about 350 less. What an ripoff. Plus all the ladies that work here are Persian and pretty mean. They constantly talk to each other in their foreign language. This is America. I found a Sport Coat in the Men's Dept at the Macy's at the Shops in the Mission Viejo Mall but they did not have my size. Mina went out of her way to try find my size at other Macys stores. The Shops in Mission Viejo is the closest Macy's to me, but I only go there if absolutely needed (like for an urgent item pick-up). The 2 buildings are not marked by text or by icons & it is hard to guess which entrance to use for what, where you pick up online items & where you return them. It is a good way to get your steps in. You can walk inside through several stores or outside among the cars, as there is no sidewalk. The older, black-haired lady at the Macy's return desk is mean. I very rarely return items, only if they don't fit, always with all tags attached, within a couple of days. Twice she refused a return on a couple of online items, just days after I received them, still in their original bag. There was always some explanation which made no sense, but mostly mumbling like they are only worth 5 cents to Macy's now or something like that. I now drive to Santa Ana Macy's, combining the trip with other errands. The same items that got rejected in Mission Viejo, were accepted in Santa Ana. They were just shaking their heads wondering why I had any problem with returning brand-new, unworn, all tags attached items 3 days after receiving them. At least the Santa Ana Macy's is an "under 1 roof" department store with clear markings on where to go for what. One good thing for the Macy's in Mission Viejo: the "Last Act" items can be fabulous, but I only browse through if I am in the mall for other reasons. read more

Reza....You my friend, are the reason I am writing this review.... Your as good as it gets! Came in looking for a suit for Prom and had no idea how to fit a suit on a 17 year old man/boy. He was the only one there and juggled 3 customers at once. We felt like we were his only customer. He just handled everyone like that. We ended up buying a nice suit at a great sale price. The worst customer service ever. I hate Macy's. I hate to compare them to a competitor *cough* nordstroms *cough*, however there's a reason why nordstroms does much better than Macy's. It All comes down to customer service. I came here this last weekend, was on the top floor, looking at getting some new sheets and bedding for the new year. To be honest I have a Macy's gift card that I received for Christmas, and unfortunately I can't get money back from these guys, so I had to find something to spend this damn gift card on LOL. So being stuck, Not caring much for their clothes/shoes/ accessories, I found that I could purchase things for my house instead. Upon coming upstairs, I only saw two employees working upstairs on opposite ends of the floor. The store didn't have a whole lot out, and a lot of stuff seemed picked over. I was having a hard time finding things that would fit my bed (California king), so I wandered around, waiting for an employee to emerge. I had maybe a dozen employees passed me, and when I asked them for their help, they all pond me off to the only person working upstairs who was ringing people up, barded with a massive line of angry women who were also waiting. Ask them if they could help me, their response was "unfortunately I don't work on this floor, but that person can help you." Felt sorry for the guy because he was a one-man band. You can only do so much because he's one person! I've worked retail and I know how it is, The fact that if he called for help, and no one showed up, something is really wrong! This would've have never happened at Nordstroms. If I went in there with a complaint or needed help, even if that person didn't work on the floor they would stop everything to help me. I'm not surprised, because it was released today that Macy's is closing around 60 stores and cutting at least 10,000 jobs. To me this comes as no surprise, and I am fortunately hope that this store closes. Company is clearly all about making money, but does not care about their customers or employees. *This review is strictly for the Men's department* This was our first time at this mall and this Macy's, so it only took us about 30 minutes to finally find the Men's department! I walked just about the whole downstairs level of the mall looking for the Men's department! I finally found it after asking a nice janitor. Walked in and found tons of selections! Clearance selections galore! I will give them credit that this Macy's is much bigger and has a great selection of men's clothes. My mom and I found great discounts on men's shirts! The reason for the one star is the awful male employee who rung us up! -__- I totally felt slighted by him, as we were walking up to the counter he was engaging with some customers who were passing by but he seemed to be talking in a different language with them and when we got up to the counter he did not acknowledge us for a quite awhile and was very abrupt and did not listen to us when we asked for gift receipts. I had to go back to the counter and ask him again for the gift receipts because he did not listen to us and was brushing us off. I wish their was a survey on my receipt because he needs to be reprimanded for his bad customer service. You need to engage all customers of all walks of life not just certain ones because they don't speak your language. RUDE! -__- read more
