I have shopped at this Macy's for as long as it has been at this mall. Which is a lot of years. Most recently shopping around the holidays was a bit challenging. The employees were not super helpful nor were they very friendly. Perhaps it was just the time of year as it was just after Christmas. For me, Macy's is a store that I will shop at for sale items because their prices are a little bit steep. You can find some good deals though when you look. If you have not heard of Macy's backstage, you should check it out. It is located in the men's part of Macy's at this mall and the better store is in Santa Ana at Main Place mall but this store also has some good deals. Backstage is the equivalent of like a Marshalls or TJ Maxx. read more

Almost got scammed by Macy's! Was checking out with a $50 Columbia rain jacket but when the cashier rung it up it said $75. She didn't mention anything or acknowledge the discrepancy. I said the tag said $50, is there a reason it's ringing up as $75? She indicated that perhaps the color impacted the price but that this jacket is $75. I left and came back with multiple other raincoats of various colors all listed at $50 and another employee rang them up and they also were coming up as $75, however this employee was more receptive to helping rectify the price error. She had to get approval from the original cashier who immediately said she could adjust the price. I found that very interesting when she gave me such a hard time with it where I literally had to go bring proof for her. It's extremely dishonest that the first woman checking me out scanned a $50 tag and saw it ring up as $75 then continued to tell me to go ahead and tap my card to pay. In fact, it's illegal to charge a higher price than is listed on an item. Macy's was trying to scam an extra 50% out of me. This is a reportable offense so I'd love to see if and how quickly Macy's rectifies this. If I walked into this same store in a week and tried to buy the same $50 item I'm very curious to see if it would ring up at $75 again or if they've fixed the issue. read more

A retail store is always as is. I like this Macy's, because it's generally clean, organized, and there's not that many people here. The workers have been very helpful so far, but this review is specifically for Amir in the men's suits department. He works very hard and goes out of his way to try and help you find what you're looking for. He has a great attitude. What happened to Macys? These stores used to be so nice, clean and full of merchandise... I haven't been here in years so was a bit surprised at the condition of the store... pretty run down to be honest. I went shopping at Macy's Mission Viejo on 2/11 to find an outfit for an upcoming event! I searched the women's formalwear department , found a dress but was looking for a cover. A lady approached me and asked if she could help me! I've not experienced this gesture in a long time at Macy's! I detailed my search for a jacket cover and she offered to look as well! Luckily she found a few and directed me to a dressing room! She selected the perfect cover ! I asked her name and realized she is a Personal Stylist and was impressed . Oh, Macy's shoe department at the Shops at Mission Viejo -- where customer service goes to die. I asked the sales girl if the shoe came in any other colors. She hit me with a confident, "No." Cute! Because guess what? I found the same exact shoe on display in another color about two minutes later. Maybe it was a magic shoe that only appears for customers who look for themselves? Anyway, I asked her to bring me some sizes (you know, the part where sales associates usually help?). I was holding two bags -- clearly struggling -- and she comes out and hands me four boxes like she's passing out homework. No offer to help, no suggestion of a seat. Just pure "figure it out yourself" energy. Naturally, two boxes hit the floor. And to really top it off, one of them was empty and labeled "FLOOR SAMPLE." Because why wouldn't I want to go fetch my own display shoe? It's like a scavenger hunt -- but less fun. She didn't come over once to check on me, help pick up the boxes, or pretend to care. And yes, this was not my first rodeo with her -- last time, during an online shoe exchange, her "assistance" was so useless I just returned the shoes and gave up. Honestly, Macy's, if this is your idea of "customer service," congrats -- it's working. I left with nothing and ordered online, where at least the website doesn't throw boxes at me. read more

I did an online order of a Prada perfume that I wasn't sure if I would like it, she let me smell some options til I finally choose the one I liked most. She honored the promotion that was applied when I bought it. She even gave me a sample of Chanel Fraiche as I mentioned what kind of fragrant I like. The layout of this store makes it hard to find anything. More than that, though, is the fact that the men's section is all the way in the middle of the mall! Why are there 2 Macy's?? Very inconvenient. Service is below normal to average, but maybe because I went on Christmas Eve an hour before closing. There are always amazing sales, so you get a lot for your buck here. The jewelry and watch displays were so dirty, both inside and outside, that they looked like they belonged in a pawnshop in a bad neighborhood. There were literally only two watches in stock; the rest you could take home were display pieces with scratches, touched by hundreds of people. It would have been great if the employees at that section were more knowledgeable about jewelry and watches, so I wouldn't have to Google everything. I can do that from home and order from somewhere else. On top of this, when I got home, I noticed that they left the security tag on one of the clothing items I purchased. Bout to head out on a work trip and didn't want to spend money on overnight shipping. Figured I go to the closest store near me which is Macys & grab my 2 items. I am member of BOTH, Origins & Macys. Origins no longer has a physical store. I have a current on-going member promotion of buying items that are 25% off and getting a select group of items for free. I called Origins customer service just to cover basis. Origins customer service said YES, they should be honoring the promotion in-store if you ask them to! Sweet! Macys would NOT budge on closing the deal. They would only honor the 25% off but not the free product even though it's sitting in the counter. I was told "Origins never gave us that product & we don't honor a many of the Origins site deal, that's their own deal!" I showed them the promotion and it doesn't say online only. The employee talked to the manager but the manager never talked to me or show up. I was told that there's only one manager and that she's super busy today. Ok fine. I need a suit for NYE and decided Macy's was an obvious slam dunk. I had this wild idea that someone working in the men's department would be able to help me select the right suit, right fit, you know the usual. NOPE! I walked the entire men's section to find anyone other than the poor woman stuck behind the counter with 15 customers waiting in line...took quite a while, but I found a man with a Macys name tag, I asked if he could help me pick out a suit, he looked at me and said "I'd guess about a 42 regular," and continued walking past me, I tried to ask if he could help me find..., but I couldn't even finish my statement, he's walked out of ear shot with obviously no interest in helping me. I took a few sets to the fitting rooms, wasn't having much luck, tried to stop a female associate this time, but she just pointed back to the same corner where I'd picked out the jackets I was carrying and said "they're over there," as she walked off. So, I just walked out, what happened to Macy's?! I chose to not buy online because I wanted to try it on and also get a human's help. Turns out I can just order my best guesses on sizes, return what doesn't work and get the same amount of help I did in Macy's. read more

Macy's claims they accept DEBIT gift cards but there is not a tab to make a payment. I received several gift debit cards trying to purchase many items, I wasted an hour 'chatting' with Lakshmir (in India) so that he could point out where I could input the gift cards information and he was unsuccessful. No wonder Macy's Dept stores are going broke, they do not make it easy for customers to purchase. Needless to say i cancelled my order and will be going somewhere else. We purchased a couch here specifically because of the warranty they offered us. They told us it covered any and all pet damage. Costco had a very similar couch for a better price but we decided to go with Macy's' because of the warranty. Just prior to the warranty expiring our dog tried digging on the couch and put a hole in it. When we submitted a claim they denied it saying it was normal wear and tear. We disputed the claim and they still denied it. We also had a lawyer send a demand letter that they never responded to. We will never shop at Macys for anything due to this experience. read more

I would expect this kind of disaster at a Marshall's or Ross but this is supposed to be a nice department store. And cutting way back on payroll is not doing you any favors. I have shopped at Macys since the store opened decades ago. My most recent deplorable experience is why I will never shop there again. I ordered clothing items to be delivered in June. They came in several packages on different days. The order was not processed at the prices shown online at the time I ordered. After spending hours trying to get this fixed, I decided to return the whole order to the Mission Viejo store. Today I received my credit card bill and it doesn't accurately reflect the credits that were supposedly issued at the store. Staff: Worked with Kal in the furniture area who was very friendly. He was patient as we tried different patterns on two different couches that we were interested in. Kal even honored the sale price even though it expired the day before. Products/Value: Amazing how many nice pieces of furniture they had. At first I thought they would be very expensive and not have much to choose from, but we were wrong. In the end we bought two of the same couch but in different patterns and configurations. Sadly, as is common in furniture orders, they won't be in for a month and a half. Overall: We were pleasantly surprised by the choices and prices. This Macy's location has one of the best plus size clothing sections I've seen in a long time. Two large clearance racks. The regular priced items have had 30-40% discount the past few times I've been there. Shaded parking availability is not an issue, even on the weekends. We went to the Men's store at South Coast Plaza to find a suit for my son for job interviews. We met a great guy name Daniel Nila at the Men's Department. He was so friendly, attentive and was extremely helpful finding the best suits and dressy shirts for my son. He fitted the clothes exactly the way my son wanted. We were so happy that everything fit perfect. I ended up buying him two suits with two shirts. I recommend you look for Daniel when you go shopping there you will appreciate his service and expertise. This review is for Jocelyn in the underwear department. I was taking my 92 yo grandmother shopping. She needs me to stay with her because she is hard of hearing and speaks quietly and sometimes needs help checking out or with online coupons. She wanted a particular bra and couldn't find it. Despite it being a busy Sunday a few weeks before Christmas, Jocelyn was incredibly attentive. She spent about 15 minutes helping her- explaining fit issues and helping her look for what she wanted. I did not need to "translate" (repeat things louder and clearer) like I do with most sales people. But she also didn't talk down to her- an irritating habit that many have towards older shoppers. She was patient and kind throughout the entire interaction. This experience with Jocelyn was one of the best I've ever had with customer service in any industry. read more

I came in and waited in line for 30 mins behind someone seemingly getting a Macys credit card or something. This was the entrance where the returns are made but I left to find another cashier to help after they took so long and the cashier didn't acknowledge that I was there waiting as well. New cashier tells me that returns were down in their entire store, both levels and they could not be done today. So instead of the previous lady seeing me waiting in the return line with a bag and letting me know right away, She decided to let me stand there and disregard my existence for 30 MINUTES. Sales associate, Donna at the "At Your Service" desk this afternoon @4:45 p.m. at the Mission Viejo store handled a huge line of customers with grace and efficiency. She was completely on her own, but maintained a courteous manner with each customer and gave them each her proper attention. I was very impressed with Donna, but also frustrated that she was placed in that position. That desk should always be manned by at least two people. I am writing this review due to the service I recently received. I have been a Macy's card holder for over 30 years and this is the 1st review i have ever posted. I received a Macy's gift card from my son for Mother's Day (May 12, 2024) i opened the card at Macy's on the day i was going to use it, the sales lady stated that the card had a zero balance, i explained that i had just opened the card, so she was nice enough to call customer service, she asked me for my ID while she was on the phone she stated that someone by the name of John Morgan had used the card and suggested that I send an email to customer service, so when i got home i exactly that. They asked me to submit a copy of the gift card and an explanation. I received a response right away stated that they were sorry and could not replace the card?? I replied that since they had all my information, name, address, etc and they had the individuals information how could they say that they could not assist me, knowing fair well that the card had been compremized. The card had a value of $50 dollars, so now my son was out that money and the gift to me was not good.. Where is the Customer Service here? Vera H. read more

He was great with constant updates and answering our questions in a timely manner. He even found out where they had the item on the floor so we could see it in person.
