I have a bit of a soft spot for Macy's. So despite all the negative reviews, I decided to give this location a chance. Besides, I haven't had the chance to do my laundry yet. At first it wasn't so bad. The first two sales women I spoke with were nice and helpful. So I looked around some more. Went back to the register with my final selection. That's when I met Flushing's version of Jackée. So Jackée shows up for work, and she's none too happy. She groans real loud for the whole store to hear, about how tired she was. About how she really doesn't want to be here. She repeats this numerous times. Eyes a-rolling, attitude a-snapping. All she needed was a laugh track. Only she's wasn't funny nor cute. She was just nasty. I groaned inside when she took my merchandise. Rang me up without so much as acknowledging me. One of the sales items I had brought up didn't have a price tag. So she groans and sashays to the sales rack, flaunting those slacks that her big ass can barely fit in. She sashays back to the register, ringing up the sweater. "What size is that sweater you hav--...." "Small!" she snapped curtly. And not once did she look in my direction. Not once did offer to see if there was another size available. Not once did she seem to give a shit about anything, except for how tired she was, and how she didn't want to be at her job. So Jackée rang me up, threw my stuff in a bag and practically flung my shopping bag at me. Then she dirty-eyeballed me for a quick second. No "thank you for shopping at Macy's" no "thank you'" no nothing. Just bad attitude that wouldn't even work at 227. Then again, 227 got cancelled a long, long time ago, and the same should go for this sad excuse of a salesperson. As for the sales rack itself, it looked like a bomb hit it. It looked just like Macy's own Jackée and her skany-ass ghetto attitude - it just didn't look good. As for Jackée herself, I just have one thing to say to her... Listen bitch. If you don't like your job, then just QUIT! There's plenty of people who really need a job. Hey I understand sometimes jobs suck. I understand management sucks ass. This was my very first time ever that... I have ever shopped at this Macy's of Flushing, New York athough... I have shopped in a lot of Macy's in the west coast!!! This Macy's store of Flushing, New York is a very interesting store to shop at!!! I have taken the elevator and took a walk around the Men's, Women's Children's clothing and also went to take a look around at the housewares department... And another thing was... I wanted to see the most was the cosmetics department area and as I was looking around at all of the interesting perfumes that this Macy's has!!! And when I came across to this most expensive cosmetic product in which, I have seen it before at a Bloomingdales store... But it was my very 1st time that... I have seen it at this Macy's Of Flushing New York and that would be the SK II !!! During my 7 days stay in New York which was back in June of 2014... This particular location of Macy's should be on "Shopping Nightmare" and I'd rather be watching "Kitchen Nightmares". This location was previously a Stern's department store. It is only covenient that it is near the Main Street Station serviced by the # 7 train. There is a municpal parking lot near by. As Liz already mentioned "clothing thrown ever which way on the ground, clothing on the racks that look like it just came off the floor", but particularly to the mens and womens department. It looks like a war zone and a hole in the wall. To call this Macy's location a department store is wrong, I would classify it as a "clothing junkyard store". This place makes H&M or Old Navy look good. I am rarely able to find something that I like or fits me. Although I lucked out recently and got a new winter jacket from here and customer service at checkout was very courteous. However, certain departments (e.g.: mens shoes) appear to be understaffed, where you can't even get help. Unfortunately, this is probably one of the worst Macy's stores out there. What an awful place. The in-store selection is disgusting. Walking by the Clinique counter is short for being harassed. Same for the Chanel & Lancome ones. I get you work on commission, but harassment is not the key to earning your commission. I don't buy anything here, but I can't say the same about mother dearest. She has a Macy's obsession. I paid with Paypal and those anciently rude fossils, aka cashiers from the towel section, basically refused to help and sent me to a different register. I was greeted with a plenty of attitude there, and got some more attitude by another fossil when I went to the "appropriate section." All but two ladies actually tried to help me deal with the register not allowing the return. The first one was probably a seasonal worker and she was confused about the process. She asked for help from an ancient-fossil-bitch who is probably her superior. Superiority is relative, and means nothing when you give zero sh*ts and probably sh*ts santa sized logs in the face of "technology." Ugh. Finally, a lady who seemed to be on her break took over the register. She solved the problem, not quickly but patiently. I came here to return shorts that I bought from the 34th St Macy's. Big mistake! Instead of issuing a refund, the salesperson unknowingly charged my card again for the shorts. I didn't realize the mistake until a few days later when I checked my bank statement. Naturally I was annoyed (incompetence is one of my pet peeves). So I go back to that Macy's, talk to the manager and he refuses to give me back my full refund. His reason was, "You don't have a return receipt." I tried explaining to him that it makes no sense for me to buy the same shorts twice. After arguing with him for what felt like hours, he told me he was going to check the security cameras so I should come back in a few days. I begrudgingly complied. This is the absolute WORST Macy's ever. I mean, it's in Flushing of all places... so yeah. This is the closest one to me besides the one at QCM, but I would definitely pick that one over this any day. Now I don't expect this Macy's to compare to the one in Herald Square (since it's the biggest Macy's in the world--or even store as they say) but the selection here is just horrible. This location wasn't helpful enough. I mean come on even just courtesy. I received a birthday reward and wanted to use it but it won't work on fragrance but it did says it doesn't exclude. On the email I received a barcode next thing u know that barcode is gone not on my email but the link. It gives a different code. I'm a retail associate myself so I know how it feels not able to use a a legit coupon esp I did see the proof of coupon. Oh boy. There needs to be an intervention because this macys is staffed fairly well. Whenever i go there, there seems to be more workers than customers. They tend to be just chatting with each other, but no one is maintaining the store! Clothes EVERYWHERE (not in a good way) and extremely unorganized. I feel like it's more like a Marshalls or a TJMaxx because of the randomness/placement of the clothes. There is really no place to shop in Flushing and I MEAN really no place at all. And that includes Macys, this location for some reason gets neglected like crazy. Every other Macys have a larger selection and is much better managed. Where to begin? The clothes are everywhere, its a huge mess and thats hard to imagine since they don't have much. The mens fitting rooms are also disgusting, I'm not going to entirely blame the staff but a daily cleaning would be nice. Hate this place hate it!!! I always buy my make up at macys and sometimes I like to try new things and usually don't return but one twice I had to return something because it was harsh with my skin. Both times they have me problems. I come here once every so often, their inventory is not the most stylish but for any last minute runs, it will suffice. Came to look for a dress shirt but was not able to find anything other than the stragglers in clearance section. I asked a salesperson where I can look for it in case I missed the placement and she pointed me back to where I had already been. Next, went to men's shoes and the cashier lady we got was brand new, didn't know how to ring up the item at all (much less apply the sales discount to it) and asked for my address info four times as she kept deleting it in the process. She was apologetic and nice about it, we gave her our best patience as it is hard to be new - management should consider more intensive training prior to placing staff on the floor. read more

It's was as hectic as the first day of school in here. That's what it feels like. It reminds me of when parents first get that back-to-school supply list and have to hurry up and get to Rite-Aid or the neighborhood stationary store to get them supplies before they run out or kids go to school with a notebook, a pen, and Manila folder from their mom's job. Took forever and a day to do a simple exchange. I asked if there were other cashiers since the woman in front of me was purchasing something and there was a language barrier and she was trying to use a coupon and the cashier was like nah there are no other registers. Then like five seconds later he calls Jennifer over and tells her to ring people up at other registers and Jennifer walks me over to another register to do my exchange. And that register has the nerve not to work properly so she rang me up on another and then I left. She had a positive attitude the entire time, like-I'm used to this, it's nothing. When we told her we were trying to redeem these for national lipstick day, she said that they had run out of the free lipsticks. But... how was I holding two Mac lipsticks if they had run out? I worked at this store for 1 month and one day I got so upset that I just walked off the job. Honestly, I would have left the very first day, just like another coworker of mine did, but I needed the money at the time. Every day had its ups and downs, but believe me I REALLY just had it up to here. On the rare occasion I'd have a miserable ghetto welfare queen customer who would ruin my day, but for the most part the customers at this location are golden! Hint: Asian customers will not curse you out for no reason - wonderful people! Even had a customer who bought Godiva chocolates for me (of course I refused...I was being watched by loss prevention and management 24/7). The problem? Management. They treat the workers like shit. Most of them also don't know how to do their job. One minute they had me doing recovery in a messy area that no one else is working in, but ten minutes later a different manager pulls me out of the messy area that I was cleaning up and puts me on a different floor in an area that is spotless and where there are already several other workers standing around doing nothing (since it's already pristine). WTF? No wonder this place is in constant disarray. Management does not even know how to properly allocate workers. Also, security/loss prevention will FOLLOW YOU all around the store. On my first day I was disturbed by this man that would pop up behind me all the time. When I would bend down to pack away some folded shirts, I would notice him bending down a few feet away and watching me. Don't play me for a fool, you're not shopping! Another time I was shopping while I was off duty (to get the employee discount - duh!) and I saw this dumbass from security standing by the racks whispering into his walkie talkie and staring at me. Keep in mind I was the only person in that section and furthermore this was the CLEARANCE racks which had $5 clothes. WTF? Who on earth would steal from the clearance racks?? Really?! This went on for the next month that I worked there. Guess what fools, I never stole a damned thing from you people! Maybe someone should "observe" security/loss prevention in this way since they are probably the ones who are actually doing the stealing. Another problem is certain tenured coworkers who treat newcomers (and customers!) like shit. I saw coworkers yelling and screaming at certain customers who did not speak English very well, and I would just watch in awe at how the managers standing nearby did not intervene. I found it interesting when a customer of Asian descent didn't speak English well, certain sales associates would yell and scream at them, HOWEVER, if the customer is Hispanic and struggled with English, the sales associates would either speak to them in Spanish or find someone who could speak to them in Spanish. Interesting double standard. I heard coworkers making racist jokes about the Asian clientele behind their back, and I was utterly disturbed. I had an old ghetto racist coworker who would put on charade when management was nearby, but once they were gone she'd criticize everything I did from the way I walked to the way I talked and even murmured racist slurs at me. She spoke to me like I was some kind of a dog. I had it up to here tried to clench my teeth just to finish work for the day, but this ghetto manager (hint: if you lack class/manners, you're guaranteed a job as a manager in this place) did not do a damned thing about the harassment I was facing. Think about it: who would she rather side with? A "sista" who was working there for years, or an "outsider" who would only be working there for a short period of time? I walked off the job that day in tears by the blatant racism I was facing from my own coworkers. No one could pay me enough to step through the doors of this god forsaken shithole! read more

Stopped by to see if I could find some sandals and some lifestyle shoes, either Adidas or Puma, I have been searching the local stores and online for the best deals. The security guard was the most friendly of the staff. I will be honest that I didnt expect to get good service, because of the area and my skin tone, let's just say that getting ignored or negative expectations are the norm in this store, NYC in general and this part of Queens...real talk, but back to my experience. The store wasnt too busy as it was in the evening, I asked to see a few shoes in my size and the store associate was helpful enough. They didn't have the shoes I wanted in my size and I asked them if I could order them online or from another store. They said if they found them, it was possible. The helpful associate left and I got help from her colleague who wasnt very friendly from her expressions on her face and observing her as I was looking at shoes in the mens' athletic shoe section. I was going to purchase some shoes, but first I wanted to make sure I could get them in a particular color. They couldnt find them in the local stores. So I asked them if they could find them online or from other stores in other parts of the country. The unfriendly associate found a few stores and I asked if she could call teh stores and have them sent. she said no and said I could call them myself!!! Now, what she didnt know is that I have sold shoes before, men and womens for different companies and even worked for this store, so I know the procedure. But, never before have I been told by an associate to do their job and call regional stores to order an item for myself. This is terrible customer service and I am very disappointed for a company of this magnitude, to have such low levels of service. I could have purchased some shoes, but I decided to leave and buy them elsewhere...my money is better spent elsewhere. I can't rave enough about a girl named Katherin who works at Lancôme. I went in to buy a foundation and she was such a great help. She erased allmy makeup and sat me down to make sure the foundation color matched my skin color. She then showed me their new peeling serum (with the two different phases) and showed me actual pictures of her face after she used it. She never pushed me to buy it or anything. She was just sharing her knowledge with me. I ended up buying it with the stick foundation and my skin cleared up so much and my dark spots cleared up immensely. She is such a sweet lady who really cares about her customers skin and never forces or pushes you to buy anything if you don't want to. I told her I'll come back with no makeup just to show her my skin. If you ever need anything from Lancôme- ask for Katherin. She's amazing. read more

My first Yelp review on recent encounter in Housewares with a sales woman who refused to answer questions or make eye contact or display anything but contempt. Adding insult to injury, I asked to speak to a manager but got stonewalled by someone who's not a manager. After being assured I would receive a call to followup on my complaint I have yet to hear from them. I was at Macy's to purchase a Nespresso machine. The sales woman was rude when I asked her for price because the scanner wasn't working, & when I asked her if she knew why there was price difference between store & online prices. Her response was to buy it online if that's what I want. She walked by me and said quite loudly as I was looking and debating on the model "Don't break it. It costs a lot of money." How does she know that I'm not familiar with the machine. Is it because she thinks a woman of color can't afford it? Does she think an Asian will "break" a coffee machine by lifting the lid? Short of verbalizing bigotries she made me feel exactly what her inner voice was saying. It doesn't take an idiot to recognize those signs. This Flushing Macy is located in a predominantly ethnic / immigrant neighborhood. As such a large clientele speaks little or poor English. More significantly, Macy has chosen not to respond to me; that is telling. I will boycott Macy's and will encourage everyone I know to do same. This Macy's is right by 7 train & bunch of buses & taxi stand. Therefore you really don't need.. no.. You REALLY should not bring your car since the traffic conditions (cars & people) are crazy. Decor is what you'll typically see at many Dept stores. Elevators are bit dirty and slow & escalators are not functioning sometimes. But biggest problem is the lack of cashiers & customer service. Whether you're returning an item, picking up items purchased online, or just have questions, help is so hard to find. They'll open up like 1-2 registers for entire floor while other associates do.. stuff. I'm not saying thety shouldn't fold clothes left messy by customers but if you see a long line, get back to clear it before heading back. Customers don't want to stare aimlessly at nothing.
