First time venturing into Flushing and my daughter and I love the look of this store. We actually visited the day before Valentine's Day so most of the customers were men. This store is comprised of different "stores": a gift and school supply shop, jewelry and hair accessories, korean clothing, and asian makeup. My little girl got sucked into the jewelry and hair part which I know takes credit card. They also did on-request gift wrapping (maybe only for V-day?).
I really loved their selection...costume jewelry with a lot of bling. I felt it was a bit expensive with some pretty simple bling necklaces going for $20 to $30. Maybe 'cause I know it's made in Korea, it should be more around $5-10. They even had some necklaces and rings around $70-90. But if you love those Japanese fashion magazines and wonder where to get those cute pearl cross earrings and lots of pearls and ribbons necklaces that are better looking than JCrew...this is the place to go. If items were priced $10 less, I probably would be going crazy in this store. But though the prices are high, I don't really see this selection in "American" stores say like Claire's.
Also, I'm a big fan of those cloth-made, fancy hairbands usually of Hello Kitty. The most I paid for it is around $8-10 (bought one in L.A., and another in Bryant Park). Their headbands cost $13! But I got suckered in because it was so darn cute and totally original. I know no one at my girl's school would have it so I drank the kool-aid and paid up.
I casually glanced at the clothing section...seemed pretty hip. I liked the shoes at a glance. I'm a big Secret Garden fan of the moment, and the shoes kinda reminded me of the show. I think the shop is a hit because I noticed a lot of guys in this section buying stuff for their girls.
I probably would have given 4 stars if not for our treatment trying to buy our purchase. The Korean girl who looked really cool was very helpful and spoke English well explained to me how the store work (certain sections she knew took CC and some only cash) and which counter to go to. But as I was standing in line with my cute little girl waiting patiently with her basket of goodies, we had one K-girl cut us and then another man who obviously bought more than us cut us again. The store clerks acknowledge it by saying sorry but if we were waiting in line, pls. tend to us accordingly. Since I'm not Korean, I do tend to be cautious going inside and experiences like that make me think twice before entering.
We were going to buy 2 Hello Kitty necklaces and a hairband =$55. I didn't realize one of the necklaces she chose was $20 so I told her to choose one and she ended up picking the expensive one which went down to $35. Maybe I would have dropped $55 if we were treated better, maybe not..but spending that much on little bitty stuff after being cut in front of twice didn't sit well with me.
Anyways, I would like to come back again to see the other parts of the store without my boys waiting outside for us to finish. The store is super cute, super original and the cool Korean girl who was nice to us in the beginning is enough to lure me back despite what happened...and maybe give this store 4 stars if the service changes. read more
