A clothing display section in Macy's features casual wear, including polo shirts, pants, and accessories, with a Tommy Hilfiger sign overhead.

The store is about what you come to expect when you visit a Macy's across the United States. They have departments for Men, women and children. Good clothes and you can sometimes get a deal.

Now, who am I saying this to...for real? DM me if you who you are. Hint: Don't be shy. - A large mirror with an ornate, decorative frame and a neon sign saying 'hello gorgeous!' is mounted on a wall inside a clothing store. The mirror reflects the store interior and a person taking a selfie.

So where is everybody? The store has gone down in service and shopping energy is gone! People are just walking aimlessly and there's like one clerk in the men's section, one college student in the sunglass section who gets paid by the hour who'll make enough hours to file unemployment. nobody at the cosmetic counters barely anybody on the second floor where the women's department is and it's dead! I used to work in town so I remembered how busy this place was with a lot of store clerks helping out. I'm guessing it's because of the internet and online shopping. This store is huge and I just feel it's never going to be the same which is depressing for Macy's. Macy's is an iconic store through the years and all I can think of right now is the Macy's Thanksgiving parade.. will they even be one now? It's depressing and lonely. And the sparce clientele is really strange like why is the creepy homeless man looking at sunglasses here? Shopping in stores are going to be obsolete just like cursive handwriting.

It was the shoe that my friend ordered.

One woman at the register gave me a bag for the non-Macy's stuff I was having a hard time wrangling, even without me asking, she just saw me struggling.

Ouimillie - So much gorgeous jewelry!

I was sad, but slightly relieved, when good closed. It was too tempting to pass on my way to the T…read moreevery day! Now, welcome Ouimillie-- which is even MORE irresistible! Ugh. I can't win... or I can't lose? The vibe is similar to good in that you walk in and immediately want to buy EVERYTHING (and your wallet is like hey maybe no?), but it's a very different style. Where good was minimalist and only sold the Hamptons palette of white/gray/navy, Ouimillie takes a much more bold approach. Their clothing is so unique that at first, I thought it was all vintage. But no! It's a carefully curated collection of French, German, and Danish designers. From dip dyed tshirt dresses to sleek white blazers to cool girl jeans, they've got a little bit of everything. Prices are in line with what'd you expect from a boutique in Beacon Hill selling obscure designer brands, in the neighborhood of $200/blouse. Expensive? Yes. But not out of line with comps and their stuff is all really unique. They also have a gorgeous collection of home goods (I want all the gold ceramic bowls!), the cutest tiny leather purses in all colors and finishes, and a ton of jewelry. And candles. Of course there's candles.

I love small, curated shops like this one. I was passing by on Charles St. one day and happenned to…read morestop inside - they have a lot of hard to find stateside brands like Baum und Pferdgarten and other European designers. It's a well curated selection, and you can reallllly tell that each product is selected with care. They're not just trying to shove all the latest trends at you like department stores, they're taking the time to really show you QUALITY pieces. That being said, the prices are high but I'm a quality over quantity person. Great for browsing too if you're in the area on a weekend. They don't get many pieces in the same style, so if you wait on it there's a big change you won't get your hands on it (I learned the hard way!).
