This is my favorite Macy's in SE Michigan. Located at Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor, it is better organized than the other Macy's I've been to. I've gotten a lot of great deals on dresses and work flats. I don't find as good of a selection on shoes at other locations. read more

Early Christmas shopping for the wife. I also returned to support coat that was the wrong size though was no fault of Macy's. I ordered two different sizes online knowing that at least one of them would fit in the other one I could just return to briarwood since we were going up to Ann arbor that week anyway. Macy's made the return process so easy. I stalk Macy's for gifts every Christmas every morning at 6:00 and I check and wait for their crazy sale or one day sale. read more

Battery Replacement. Macy's is unable to service a watch that needs a new battery. It will take a couple of weeks because they must send your watch to another location and it's $50 per watch. read more

I generally do love Macys and did a lot of my Christmas shopping here. The only reason I am dropping a star is because anytime I have worked with anyone in the fragrance section, they haven't wanted to go the extra mile like the other stores offer such as packaging perfumes appropriately or adding samples. Considering I spent a lot of money at once on fragrances this winter, I felt very brushed off and like they didn't really want to be there. read more

Macy's offers excellent selection of clothing, shoes, cosmetics, handbags, jewellery and household goods. Its great store with lots of sales and deals. It's my go to place to get really good quality items on sale. This store is bright, clean and well lit. I usually enter the mall through this entrance. Safety protocols in place and felt safe shopping in-store. They have amazing cosmetics counters for different brands. Associates were always willing to help in the cosmetics section. It's difficult to get help in other sections which is normal for Macy's. Some brands doesn't fit like common sizes. After covid I do most of my shopping online. I feel it's easier and convenient, also get good deals. Their sales often include phenomenal values. read more

I love this place but only for sales. The sales are the way to go. I have found jeans for my husband cheaper than at Kohl's, gotten a ton of clearance items for work for me and I stalk the house and home sections like a hawk. Maybe Macy's reads Yelp because I scored a cute pair of sandals on sale already. Grabbed them up, a friendly salesperson swung by and asked if she could help, three minutes later I am wrapping them up and charging. Happiness. Downside of Macy's? When 65% off of jewelry is still really a bit overpriced. I am not talking about real gold either. Just yikes. I'd rather have a couple more pairs of shoes rather than that thanks. I bought a mattress and split box spring set on February 4, 2023. The delivery was arranged for February 14. Macy's only sent one-half of the box spring set. They never communicated a problem until the delivery vendor got to my door. A second delivery was scheduled for February 23. They deny scheduling the delivery even though I have the original email confirmation email. They refuse to compensate me for the inconvenience for missing the second delivery scheduled. They are having me wait until March 9, 2023 for delivery on the box spring. I will never be back for anything. They are the new Sears. I would give them a Zero if I could. read more

I want to praise Elaine especially for excellent service on Jan. 18 2023. I had a complicated return and Elaine demonstrated determination, patience, and great knowledge of "the system" there on the computer to complete the return. Most of all, she kept her good humor and friendliness even though the situation was a headache. She could have announced "It just isn't doable" at any time and I wouldn't have known the difference. Thank you, Elaine, for your outstanding service! I want to add that both my mom and I always find something lovely at Macy's. In all departments, the selection is excellent, and the store is pleasant and kept in good order. I really hope these "department stores" survive. They provide one-stop shopping, employ locally, and offer great sales. They are also up on trends - young people should check Macy's out! read more

I needed something formal, and my mom suggested she take me to Macy's for clothes shopping. Do I have a great mom or what? Neither of us had ever been to Macy's except for when it used to be Hudson's. We were surprised that they had the entire range of sizes, from petitie and super-skinny to medium to el grande. We found a lot on sale in my el grande size. Nice to read the tag and know they had been asking a lot more but were marking everything down to get it out the door! So I ended up with a charcoal suit instead of the navy I was hoping for, but I got a jacket and skirt (the pants were a size too large, but maybe I'll go back and get them anyway, and take them to a tailor). I also ended up with a dress that she insisted I get: the bodice is black and the skirt has wide stripes that are simply gorgeous because they are on all different angles, giving it a lot of movement even when I'm standing still. Mom found a matching black bolero and instantly - poof! - I have two very nice, formal outfits for the days ahead. It sure helped to have my mom along, because then I could hole up in the changing room and she could periodically bring me new things to try, and take away what didn't interest me. If you go clothing shopping at Macy's, maybe bring a friend or two to help, because there was one very helpful lady there, but it seems like the place is short-staffed. Helpful lady had to go home before I could emerge from the dressing room to thank her. Then we had to look around for an open cash register. So other than having to search a little for a person to take our money, I'm impressed by the clothing they have and will be back when I need something dressy. I told my mom that if she wanted to return and have me be her clothes jockey, I'd be happy to help. read more

I remember when this place was Hudson's... and even though the building, the layout and everything inside is the same, it's Macy's. I haven't been here in ages, but it was nice to see the place again. As usual, I go straight to the second floor where I need to be... kitchen, bedroom and of course the male clothes. The staff were helpful and friendly... they have variety of offerings, so it's a great place to go and find what you'll need. read more

Macy's is definitely a top location for me to find items. They have name brand, quality items for a reasonable price. This is one of the better Macy's locations for shopping for Men. I say "Men" because some stores seem to cater to women or men. There are more items and sales at this location for men and it has variety. I can always go to this location and find something on sale. It can be a shirt, pants, suit or coat. It is clean and organized. It is easy to find someone to help you. The coupons that come in the mail is another plus. I had purchased a tommy bahama sweater for my brother 10/30 for christmas. Unfortunately, the shirt did not fit, and he had already removed the tags, including the inside tag, as it was scratchy, and he was excited to wear it. I tried to return for store credit this weekend. I had my upc number, and the evidence of purchase on my iphone. Customer service sent me to men's wear, after telling me "I don't know what to do with this." Then, at Men's wear, they told me that it was too late to address (even though the web said I had until 2/1/2022 to return, as the tags were removed, and "Macy's would lose a profit. " I have been an excellent customer for 25 years, never missed a payment, and registered for my wedding there. They treated me poorly, and would not even offer a store credit. I am giving the beautiful sweater away to another family member. I will not be shopping there again, and Macy's will lose profit from me. read more

Macy's is totally giving up on its retail stores. Today I found the men's department an absolute mess. Clothes looked like they were just dumped. More clothes in piles then were actually folded. I'd like to start with a disclaimer: my review, as follows, is simply for the shoe department in this Macy's. And so let me start by saying that I have been in a serious fashion rut lately. I don't know what it is, probably the fact that I have been working so hard lately I don't really care what I wear as long as it's clean, matches (my wardrobe is essentially black with a pop of black) and fits. But last week I went shopping with a girlfriend of mine and remembered how much fun it can be. So after buying the most amazing pair of black heels when I was home in NYC a few weeks ago I have been itching to buy an equally awesome pair of brown pointy heels. And since I had such luck at Macy's last time I decided to try again. Really? There were SIX people "working" in the shoe department. By working I mean flirting, talking about their mornings, checking themselves out and, I swear to God: complaining that there hadn't been many customers coming through. HELLO?! Did ONE of them approach me? Nope. And when I picked up the cutest pair of brown pointy heels EVER (complete with gold buckes... oh, it's so much fun to be back to the old me!) did anyone help me? Nope. In fact the sales associate closest to me rolled her eyes and walked away. Oh well, I'll spend $110 on the same pair elsewhere. There's some nonsense I simply won't put up with - and crappy sales people make that list. read more

Ever since Marshall Fields was taken over by Macy's, it's all gone down hill. Rapidly. And there seems to be little help. Gone are the good designer labels, for the most part. Gone are the lovely displays. Now it feels more like an overcrowded Target with deal bins everywhere. That said, you can get some good deals, especially on bedding and kitchen/dining wares. Check out the clearance racks; you never know what holdover designer goodie might be waiting for you. Seriously. One positive: a great selection of Nambe products awaits you. read more

Let's call this "the store formerly known as Hudson's" OR "the store formerly known as Marshall Field's" Positives: they are the only source for a really big selection of some good brands like Ralph Lauren or Eileen Fisher. They have a really huge shoe and purse and costume jewelry selection. But you won't feel original or stand out from any crowd when you get your clothing here. Downsides: you can find better housewares online. And you'll often have to wait until the sales clerks finish a personal phone call or chat among themselves before you can ask questions or manage to pay for your purchases (except for one nice lady in women's clothing who is always helpful). read more

This Macys location doesn't have a wide variety of high end brands. They are usually severely understaffed so you have to run around the floor to find someone to help you out. As usual, Macys always has the best sales and you can get nice things for pretty cheap especially if you have a Macys card. This location is not a flagship store, if you want a better selection go to sommer set for the bigger store. Tip: no furniture in this store. read more

I have been to this Macy's several times and have been consistently dissapointed. I have shopped in their men's departments as well as shoes and have yet for an employee to look my way. Their fitting rooms, which I found on my own, had carpet full of pins which you notice most when u have your shoes off. I have been to a few other Macy's and can't believe they are the same company. I never really need help shopping and can usually find things I'm looking for on my own. But having to walk around for 10-15 minutes everytime I'm ready to check out is ridiculous. I have rang up at the home and kitchen department every time I have been in. They are always nice but I never shop that department. I understand if this was a one time experience because in retail things happen and that's fine. But numerous occasions of me feeling like a tool standing at a counter or searching for someone simply to put my items in a bag and take my money is just a lack of caring. read more

Not much to say, it's your big box Macy's. They throw their parades, they have their seasonal deals/discounts. You can always save some money here either on 20% days (friends and family deals etc;). Never buy full price, there is always a savings to be had, with the right coupon/approach. Just a typical deparment store. read more

Aaah, Macy's. I don't have high expectations when it comes to department stores, but Lord Almighty is this place pathetic. The Mister needed an actual grown-up suit, and since I know nothing about men's clothing and he's never bought a suit before, we figured a good place to start would be Macy's. We get there, and the first person who asked if we needed help told us she didn't actually work in the men's department when we said yes, so she couldn't *actually* help us. The "suit guy" finally showed up and managed to go through a rack of pants for, ooooh, thirty seconds before wandering off, never to be seen again. We found one more guy who sort of helped us find a better-fitting size for the Mister, but frankly, he obviously had no clue when it came to fitting men to suits. So that's three people who all lost a possible commission from us because of their pathetic, pathetic customer service. The true difference came when we wandered over to Von Maur, which had a much smaller selection, but a sales guy who actually helped the Mister find a suit, and made sure he was doing okay while he was trying it on. The Mister ended up ordering a better-looking and fitting suit online in the end. Take that, Macy's! read more

I know, I know... I wrote article about Macy before!!! No problem! That one in San Francisco/NYC... Well, this one in Ann Arbor!!! I look always for bargain when shopping... no matter what it is! I consider myself a CHEAP miser!!! Well, this true for most things but I don't play around when it come to my clothing. Everytime I go to Macy's I check clearance rack for shoes... this time I FINALLY see the Kenneth Cole shoes I had eye on for past several months. Yes, 200 dollar shoe for 90 dollar!!! Yes! You cannot beat this with stiff pole! Sorry for showing my excitement tonight but I have to tell you the magic was too much for me, so I bought 2 pair! Okay okay... back to reality. Shop Macy and you will see that they have good selection of items but if you're looking for a really good shoe deal... do not hesitate to check their clearance rack. The deals during their sales can be outstanding. The service received was second to none! I can be difficult, but my sales rep went extra mile for me. I felt like little kid when stumbling on my find :) and if you know my wife-san like I do... you know she can be extra nice to Boodah when he have sexy footwear and nice suit on. This review is for the MAC makeup counter in Macys, I couldn't find a Yelp acc. for just the MAC counter. This is by far the best make-up store/counter experience I have ever had. I am by no means a expert in makeup but I have been interested lately in trying new things with it. I headed there because I have heard so many good things about MAC, and for a good reason! Cat, (Kat?) the girl who helped me was absolutely amazing, she spent a lot of time picking out and matching colors to my skin tone, and also trying them on me and showing me how to put them on. We scheduled a visit then for me to come out and check out the holiday collection, so I went in again. Again, she was so incredibly helpful, and so friendly! She treated me like I was one of her long time clients and I felt so comfortable, that is really good customer service! Go here people, ask for her. read more

I am very disappointed in the Clinique Section of cosmetics at Macy's Briarwood Mall. I have shopped at Macy's Clinique at numerous stores, from California to Michigan. The young lady who waited on me was condescending, curt and abrupt. There were approximately 4 employees and 6 customers. I waited my turn but she couldn't take the time to answer what color lipstick I should wear. I requested an eye cream, she said "There's a lot of them, here use this". I inquired what it targeted and she said "Everything". She doesn't care about the customer, only how much her commission is. Very disappointed and Buyer Beware at this counter! I am now looking into other cosmetic companies because of her outstanding lack of service! read more

This store is complete trash. I recently walked around the entire first floor and went into different departments like women's, accessories, and lingerie. Not one employee said anything to me. One was staring at her phone, two others were chatting with each other, and three others were chatting with each other. So basically, not one single employee was actually doing their job. The store is constantly trashed--clothes unorganized, piles unfolded, and the turnover is crazy. No wonder they can't keep the place looking anywhere decent. The one redeeming factor is the BCBG section when there is stuff on sale. The associates there are usually a bit more attentive (probably just a loss prevention strategy, really, as this is the most high-end department at this Macy's). I miss when this store was Hudson's so much. read more

I was number 3 in line and she took care of the person behind me saying she was helping her with her returned item in the first place... Ok fair enough. Talked forever with the customer how she has a a bad hip and other personal stuff.. Afterwards it was my turn.. She then spoke over me and told the person behind me that she was next???! Have not been out to briarwood mall in 3 months. Went with my daughter to shop for a dress for her shower. We had been in Von Maur first and had exceptional service with clean fitting rooms that were comfortable and had a 3 way mirror to view our selections. Sales lady offered to get us additional sizes and hung the selections we had so we could continue looking. After trying the dresses on we had her hold two, thought we should also check Macy's. My first impression when we started looking at the dresses was wow there are a lot of dresses here. Second was what is the system of organization here? Not by designer, size, color nothing made sense. We found one dress in the mess to try on. Walked into fitting room near the dresses and it was so full of clothes on the floor, junk laying around and dirty I chose to go over to the petite department dressing rooms. While these did not have as many clothes laying around they were filthy, hadn't been vacuumed, doors and walls were dirty and needs paint. Doors not on hinges well, etc. we also never once saw a sales associate to help us or ask any questions for help in understanding the system to find a dress. Shopping in Macy's at Briarwood is as bad as shopping in Kohls on a big sale day. Disorganized, messy, no help, the only difference is Macy's was down right filthy. Will not be shopping at this Macy's ever again! read more

This place is a disaster. Everything is disorganized as they continue to expand to their 'Last Act' racks which is basically just a mess of stuff nobody wants. The last two times I've bought stuff here I ended up at home only to find a security tag the salesperson failed to remove which necessitates a return trip to the store -- waste of time. This is why brick and mortar stores can't compete with online retailers. read more
