Mac's Pizza Pub is the place I wish had been available in one of the places where I went to college. It's just so.. college. Several unique pizzas including our favorite, the Chicago gyros pizza. A really respectable craft beer selection. A funky atmosphere that reminds me of the places I did hang out in when I was in college. Not being in college now, we tend to go to Mac's when UC is on break. It's a bit more relaxed then and tables are much easier to get. I had The Don and a beer. It was not bad pizza, lots of cheese. The meatballs on this pizza were pretty tasty. The price was pretty good too. A friend did order an appetizer and we never got it...and the waitress never said anything about it. Not too big of a deal for us. read more

This is your typical college bar that has some decent food choices. I always get the Mac Attack Small pizza(spicy ground beef, jalapenos, peperoni and cheese). This has become one of my favorite specialty pizzas in the city. read more

So, I've been here twice. The first time, fairly early on a Saturday night during the summer to dine in. The second, 1 a.m. on a Saturday/Sunday during the school year for pizza by the slice. Two completely different experiences. First time: Chill atmosphere, attentive service, good beer and tasty pizza. A four-star visit. Second time: Crowded, noisy, a band blocking the entrance to the women's restroom (let's rethink that setup, Mac's), full of annoying dudebrahs, mediocre service (the guy serving pizza by the slice was... of questionable sobriety), just-OK pizza. A two-star visit. So, plan your visit wisely. When school's not in session, it's a lot more laid-back and you'll probably get better service. If you're going to dine in, probably the earlier the better. Otherwise, maybe go for takeout. But, if you yourself are of questionable sobriety, hungry at 1 a.m. and in Clifton, you could do a lot worse than Mac's! read more

Love this place. Good beer, great atmosphere, good food. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the parking.

The main reason I go to this bar is to settle unfinished shuffleboard matches with my buddies. This is definitely a good bar to hang out and get drunk, a lot of UC people will drift in and out of here in one night. Drinks are relatively cheap and they usually play hip-hop on Wednesday and Friday nights. Come as you are, no need to dress to impress at this place. read more

Mac's is a decent pub in Clifton that also offers pizza (surprise!) and other munchies to keep you going all night. They've got one hell of a karaoke night, but set aside that, it isn't really anything special. Don't bother ordering online and paying for your pizza in advance on Sunday afternoons. Place was dead when I arrived and waited at counter for five minutes...after no one offered to wait on me I walked around until I found a waitress. Long story short, placed my order online 50 minutes before the scheduled pickup at 6:45. It was obvious they had dropped the ball and weren't paying attention to their online orders. Hubby and I are old enough to have grandkids in Mac's demographic, but since we love pizza and snagged a Groupon, we gave it a try. Kind of typical grungy college hangout, but excellent light crispy batter on the fried pickle spears, and the pizza was good quality and very generously covered with toppings. Parking is always an issue in that area, but they do have about 20 reserved spaces in the lot in the back which they share with King Wok. read more

My daughter and I went to Mac's today for the first time. We have walked or driven by the place a hundred times but never stopped in because I thought it was a college drinking bar. While it has the classic college bar feel, it's actually more like dive bar restaurant. It feels cozy, it's a great place to watch a game and the food is AMAZING. We had a Best West bbq burger and a Chicago Gyro pizza. We felt that the burger was one of the best in the city. And the pizza, wow! The gyro pizza may be one of the top three pizzas I have ever tasted. The food isn't fancy but it's great quality. They also had a classic shuffleboard table and a great jukebox. I will now be a frequent customer to Mac's. Oh yeah, they even have free parking out back behind their beer garden. That is a unique feature in Clifton. And in case you want to bring your laptop, each table has an electric outlet. read more

I come here from time to time when I want a beer out back to be left alone/unbothered by other patrons. I came in on a weekend night and a heavier set dark skinned man was bartending- moved super slow making previous drink and cashing out other woman. We've been going to Mac's for years. Why, you ask? Two big reasons: 1) Because Mac's is always trying to improve on their already fantastic menu. So many things are made from scratch, my current favorite thing is the marinated, grilled chicken sandwich (try it parmesan style). Last month I would have told you it's their new and improved burgers. Pizza and wings are our "go to" staples. Waffle fries with a side of beer cheese when I'm really feeling like pigging out :)~ I could go on! Oh, wait! I will go on long enough to suggest you discover the hoard of hot sauces behind the back bar. Order your wings and then dare yourself to try a new sauce, they're always changing. 2) Because we have been treated like family from day one! The staff at Mac's are great, you can tell they really enjoy what they do. It says a lot about a restaurant when a large number of the staff have been there since it opened. It says even more when ALL of the staff hang there on their days off to eat, drink and be merry. Good food can be had all over the place but the atmosphere at Mac's is one of the key reasons we go back! In a land of increasingly marginal pizza, Mac's rises way above the rest! read more

Best place to get a pizza hands down. Gyro pizza is da bomb and craft beer choices are always plentiful. Staff is very friendly. Night time is a good time, great DJ and shot specials from the shot wall. I try and make the drive at least 2 times a month. That's quite a bit since I now live an hour away. read more

WARNING!!!-- NEVER order a personal pan pizza. Macs is undoubtedly one of my favorite places in Clifton. Their pizzas have homemade crust and the specialty pizzas are excellent. Recommend the gyro pizza and taco pizza for something unique that's done really well. But it gets better than pizza here...I would argue some of their other menu items are even better. Their burgers, cheesesteak, and meatball hoagie are all top notch. I put the burgers up there with some of the best bar type burgers in the city. But I'm not done....macs beer selection is also great. They have a well above avg selection for a college grub pub type place. They consistently have Bells, Great Lakes, Mt Carmel, Christian Moerlein, Rivertown offerings. I was ecstatic to have Bells Hopslam there the other day. Anyone who knows a thing or two about beer is salivating right about now. Do yourself a favor and go here. I've been at least 30 times and never had a bad experience. read more

I went to University of Cincinnati and this is a great place to get your pizza. It's right near the campus and the pizza is pretty good. I just like pepperoni. It's pizza and its at a reasonable price what could go wrong. Cincinnati does not have many good pizza places this is one of them. I would recommend it to any UC student. read more

I sure did enjoy this place while I went to school. Like many places I frequented while I attended UC, I ate here enough times to have bad experiences. But, on the whole, Mac's was very good. Cheap, tasty food and a really good vibe. Probably the best place near campus to watch a game. read more

I went to Mac's for the first time on Saturday night, and if I ever had to go back, it would be too soon. We got there slightly later than the standard dinner crowd, so it wasn't very crowded. Our waitress was pretty rude from the start - it was like we were inconveniencing her by being there. It took just about an hour for an appetizer order of fries to come out, during which time she checked on us maybe once. My boyfriend and I had to cancel our orders after waiting for an hour because he had another commitment to go to. The waitress blamed the delay on an overload of to go orders - but I'm having trouble understanding why a restaurant would be prioritizing carry out orders over customers dining in. I suspect it was in part a slow kitchen, but also our waitress not putting in our order in a timely manner, since the table behind us got there after we did and got their food sooner. Our friends who stayed to eat (they eventually got their food - lucky them) then overheard the waitress talking about getting people to leave so the staff could go home. You know a great way to do that? Get people their food in under an hour and a half. It's funny how that works. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to try this out for the first time today. We walked in and sat down at a table of our choice as instructed by a sign on the wall. We sat there for 15 minutes with roughly 5 staff members walking by us several times and never saying anything to us. The cook could even see me from where we were sitting and sent no one over to us. It was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. I even saw one of the waiters leaning on the bar texting. We decided to get up and leave after 15 minutes with no attention to go to another nearby restaurant. Don't go here expecting good service, if any. read more

I came here with a friend after work on a Friday night around 8:30 for the first time last week. I spent all of last week trying to figure out when I could go back and tonight I made it, bringing my bff and my 3 year old. Disclaimer: I love pizza, but I cannot eat any dairy whatsoever, so I LOVE IT that Mac's has vegan cheese. It also helps that the pizza itself is amazing, lots of unique specialty pizzas. The beer list is awesome and constantly changing. I am a big salad person and their basic dinner salad was good, actual fresh lettuce and great salad dressings. I like the chill atmosphere; I'm even glad for the not-so-sober college kids. It's a nice change for my daughter to not be the loudest person in a restaurant. I can see how the parking could be an issue, but I've been lucky both times and found a parking spot easily. Overall, I'm just thrilled I finally discovered this place. read more

I am a big fan of Mac's. The environment is very friendly. It is a great place to go and hang out with friends and enjoy a drink. Happy Hour is a great deal with $2 drinks, and half price appetizers! We went to the location on Wooster Pike. The pizza was so greasy. It left a puddle of orange grease behind on the tray. The beers are outrageously priced too. I understand charging a lot more for craft beers, but $5 for a Yuengling was out of control. Not just the beer, but the pizza is expensive too. Finally, the service this last time was so rude. It was an older lady who barked "can you please hurry up and decide, I don't have all day". Jeez! The time we went before that, the service was better. This is definitely not a place I elect to go - we only go if our gluten free/vegan friend has a birthday/event here. Yikes! read more

Great Friendly Environment in the Heart of Fairview The food here is great and is priced very low I go in here for the food I would recommend the chicken and cheese quesadilla you get a huge quesadilla stuffed with chicken cheese and tomatoes topped with chives and served with a side of sour cream for just $5.50 It is the best quesadilla I have ever tasted and I would suggest charging around $10 for it I also am satisfied with the other food options the waffle fries are good they are crisp and oily and taste like potatoes wrapped in a potato chip their burgers are pretty good and they fry their buns overall the interior is 8.5/10 two bars one in front one in back very friendly and courteous staff I would definitely recommend this place for any type of crowd read more
