Well, this is more like 2.5 stars but rounding up. The ambiance is nice. We were greeted and seated immediately. As we were being seated, a server put a pot of tea and some tea cups at our table and said, "And here is tea for you." So I said, "Oh, thanks!" thinking it was complimentary. We later found out on the check that it was an additional $1.50. It would've been nice to know it wasn't free and have been given a choice to decline. I took a sip of the tea and I swear something tasted chemically in it. I think it was residue on the cup from whatever they use to clean it. I had already asked for a new cup of water since there was a bug in it (the waitress was very kind about it), so I didn't ask for new cups for tea. To me, the shumai, hargow, & bbq pork bun all tasted like they had a small hint of freezer burn or something refrigerator tasting. It was very subtle- my husband couldn't taste it, but I did. I've had my fair share of freezer burned/ "sat in fridge too long" food, so it was unpleasantly familiar. But, everything was still decent enough and we were starving so we finished it all. No, I didn't feel sick after. I actually quite enjoyed the shrimp tofu because it came with crispy shrimp on top and a delicious sauce, and the spicy green beans were awesome... possibly the best green beans I've ever had! These two dishes tasted much fresher than the others. The service was attentive, and we were checked in on regularly, which was great! I have mixed feelings about posting this review because it seems like a nice small business. I think there were locals that were there who knew the workers well. But the food/drink had some issues that night, and unfortunately, even the delicious green beans are not enough to make me come back. read more

We've been on a dim sum kick lately, but quickly discovered that many places only serve dim sum during certain hours. It has made things super inconvenient on days where we want dim sum for dinner. But thankfully we found Macky's. We've gone to Macky's several times for our dim sum dinner fix and now we're fans! Their dum sum menu is a solid size with lots of options. We've returned to their chow mein, bok choy, sui mai, and cilantro dumpling each time. Downtown Issaquah is the last place you'd expect to find a good dim sum restaurant, but you can easily find Macky's near Front Street, right by all the other eateries. There are plenty of options for street parking, and a nearby parking lot. The ambiance at Macky's reminds me of my Chinese aunt's house. Came here with the wife on a weeknight not too long ago. Lots of parking nearby and a very short walk to the restaurant. It wasn't a busy evening and we were seated immediately. Our hostess made an appetizer suggestion, and we took her up on it. We ordered several different types of dim sum and only had a short wait. The food was good, but not outstanding. Almost tasted like it had been heated and reheated. Hostess was very friendly and stopped by our table frequently to check on things and refill our water. Overall a good experience. Hello: Although I have found the food good, but way too much mayonnaise on the honey walnut shrimp, what occurred today pissed me off. I ordered cod with black bean sauce. The $18 dish was tasty, but I failed to read in fine print at the bottom of the page that "to preserve food quality," the restaurant will add one dollar to the meal. It is cheap and mercenary and incredibly stupid. Food quality should be a given without an extra charge. I left no tip and left in a huff. read more

We just happened to drive by this place and decided to check it out. I've been wanting Dim Sum but usually can never get to places in time as most places only serve Dim Sum in the mornings or early brunch time. I was shocked to find out this place serves Dim Sum all day long! We were seated right away. The staff was kind and service was fast. Everything we ordered was delicious but the absolute stand out was the sticky fried rice which was so unique and so tasty! We also had chicken feet, BBQ steamed buns, honey walnut prawns, chow mein, pork shumai, green beans, egg tarts, and sesame buns. Since we ordered everything off of the dim sum menu, they were smaller portions which was perfect as we were able to sample several dishes. Have eaten in and had take out from here several times. I like all the food I I have tried, not being much of a pork fan I have not tried the dishes that have that in it. I do really like the honey prawns and the chicken chow mein. If you dine in the egg soup while it is hot is good. The place is always clean when I am in and the people are friendly. read more

I can't tell you how much I love coming to this place, so much so that I've been going here for the past 25 years. Macky, the owner, always stops by the table and she is so nice. All the wait staff are professional and eager to please. Dim sum always comes out fresh and hot from the kitchen. I have been here with 4 people and 15 people. The quality never changes. Yes I miss having food served on a cart, but the difference is this food is always hot. I hate getting dim sum that is simply lukewarm because it's been sitting on a cart. What can I say? I am enchanted. It has been a long time since I have had Chinese food and after some research I opted for Macky's. My friend and I arrived around lunch and was seated promptly which seemed like a flash of luck as they were packed full. The service was a model of efficiency. I get it - they make money on table turns so they're going to do everything to maximize those table turns. The instant a dish or container was empty it was whisked away. There were a variety of servers with no single person dedicated to our table. It felt like the whole staff did whatever needed to be done. My only complaint is they began vigorously cleaning the table as I was signing my check. I wish they could have given me some space. We ordered the baked BBQ pork bun, the pork sui mai, the soup dumplings, and the rice roll with shrimp. The rice roll with shrimp was the only one I wouldn't recommend in the future. It was slightly bland and the wrapper overwhelmed the shrimp. But besides that? The food was sooooo good! The baked BBQ pork bun was a-maz-ing! It was soft and sweet with a nice savory balance in the meat. It was great. The soup dumplings were marvelous! They are literal lava inside so be sure to poke and hole and let them vent! They were savory and delightful with a real soup broth taste that matched the taste of the pork. But the shining star was the pork sui mai! It was so good we ordered two orders! Meh. So if my first impression and thought is a meh then what more can it be? Craving dim sum on a Sunday evening is one of those things, you want but can't have.. however I looked into it and called to confirm, they serve all day dim sum, so why not? To suffice or craving we decided to head out there, 23min drive; dim sum at 6pm- why not. So there is a parking lot towards the back of the place that is shared with other businesses, however it was packed. We luckily got street parking in front of the pub. First impression was greeted us with the "okay" health inspection report which I try to not allow that to deter me. Walked in, it's cute and gives this Dt Issaquah vibe. There were a few tables already there. We sat down and there were about 4-5 staff ready on deck. They were very attentive, we ordered about 10 dim sum dishes, all staples: shui mai, chicken feet, tripe, sticky rice, bamboo bean curd roll, turnip cake, xiao long bao, shrimp dumpling, egg custard, spare ribs. Pros: everything came out pippin hot! Lovvvvve that! Staff, as mentioned, friendly and attentive. Appeared clean. Supposedly offers rice rolls..(read cons section for comment) Cons: dishes were a bit smaller given the price, I believe they charged for tea even though I didn't see anything that stated that (then again I wasn't looking for it either), the egg tart didn't have the flaky crust that's "typical" and too sweet for me. Rice rolls are only available on weekends (which was stated on the menu) what's not on the menu that it's only on the weekends in the morning. Love this place for when I'm craving dim sum. Just wished they did carts still instead of ordering off a menu. Their red bean sesame balls are really good, could use more red bean though. And their noodles are sooo good, sometimes I go just to order that. Service is always very good and is always keeping me stocked up on tea. Best sticky fried rice I've had in Seattle area so far. Older generation family business, who are still serving, seating & cooking everything up. I fear for the longevity of this great little shop, as I don't see any younger family members working. If I could give 3.5 stars I would --- simply b/c 3.5 stars is a sign of a solid Chinese restaurant in my mind :) I love dim sum, but finding good options on the Eastside is not as easy. While driving east we happened upon Macky's and decided to try it out. Super friendly staff (felt like I was with my favorite aunts encouraging me to order bok choy to make sure I get my greens in lol), and good quality dim sum. While it seemed a little pricy (maybe we overordered), it satisfied our cravings and also gave us leftovers. If you don't want to go all the way to Chinatown or into Bellevue for dim sum, Macky's is a really great option. read more

A GEM is Issaquah downtown! I wonder why we never tried this before! We don't eat Pork yet this place had sooo many options for us. The Highlight of our order was the Sesame balls. They were fresh and yummylicious. I could eat all 3 of them.The dumplings too were very tasty. I am cutting down 1 star because the food though tasty without a doubt, was calorie-dense with lots of oil. eg. the Fried rice and stuffed eggplant were a little more greasy than what we were expecting. There is ample parking around and behind this location. The cleanliness and pandemic precautions were taken meticulously. Service was pleasant and the servers checked with us multiple times. I visited Macky's Dim Sum for dim sum and it was solid. On the eastside, dim sum is far and in between, so it's nice to know that Macky's is here for an eastsider's dim sum needs in Issaquah. We visited for dinner and called beforehand to see if we needed to make reservations. The employee who answered the phone said that if we were to arrive soon, we would be seated immediately. True to her word, we arrived shortly after and were seated in a booth. During our entire dinner, the place was busy, with many parties for dine-in and takeout. I never visited Macky's in its former location in Gilman Village. They've now taken over what was another Chinese restaurant in Old Issaquah, right off of Front Street. Parking is easy to find, as there's plenty of street parking on Front Street, as well as a back parking lot by city hall. Macky's has dim sum all day, which is a huge plus. Though you can get traditional and Americanized Chinese food here, we found the dim sum to be good enough. The dim sum menu isn't too large, but had all the basics that you love, like the shumai, shrimp dumplings, BBQ pork bao, etc. My boyfriend and I ordered the shumai, shrimp dumplings, spinach and shrimp dumplings, Hong Kong BBQ pork and garlic green beans. On the table were soy sauce and chili paste and you get complimentary tea to your heart's desire. Of all the items we ordered, I liked the spinach and shrimp dumplings the best. Shrimp was juicy and loved the taste of the spinach that you get with. I would definitely come back for dim sum, and even try from their regular menu. I didn't have time to drive to China town for my craving if dim sum. We instead visited Macky's. I think the only dim sum area in downtown Issaquah. I first visited this place when they were in Gilman Village and was not impressed. They moved to Front street and I heard that it has improved on service and food. Visited hear with my hubby for a lunch date. We order sui mai, black bean spareribs , gai-lan with oyster sauce, pork/shrimp dumplings, pork ham bao, I must say, I was impressively surprised. We called in beforehand for takeout and ordered 2 orders of baked BBQ pork buns, 2 orders of shrimp dumplings, 2 orders of radish cakes, 1 order of seafood chowmein, and 1 order of green beans with minced pork and chili. The receptionist was friend and said our order would be ready in 25 min after calling. Out of all the dishes, the shrimp dumplings were the best- they were stuffed with shrimp and had the perfect wrapper thickness. We were very impressed. The radish cakes were also decent. The baked pork buns are huge, but the bun filling was sparse and disappointing; my mom said the char siu sauce lacked hoisin. The seafood chow mein had an ample amount of seafood but for once, lacked salt. The green beans were passable but nothing out of the ordinary. Macky's focuses mainly on dim sum, but I wish they had other entree choices too. I did not pick up the food, so I cannot rate their current health and safety standards. I wanted to like this place given how hectic Top Gun Bellevue is and how much of a pain it is to get Seattle for Dim Sum there. First visit to Macky's and we'll definitely return. The dim sum we ordered for takeout tonight was SO good. We weren't sure how takeout dim sum would be, but once we arrived home we placed it in our bamboo steamers for a few minutes to reheat - which worked great!! We're definitely looking forward to our next Macky's dim sum take out. Our food was ready on time and takeout felt safe, though would recommend they set up their credit card reader so customers can scan our own cards . We've been going here for years. The restaurant is located on the corner and parking is plentiful.  This is a regular Dim Sum spot for us. Our favorites are: Xiao Long Bao (Steam Shanghai Soup Dumplings), Soy Sauce Chow Mein,  Pork Sui Mai, Rice Roll with Shrimp, and Steamed Bean Curd. You really can't go wrong.   The Soy Sauce Chow Mein is meatless but full of flavor.  I love the Steamed Bean Curd because it's a good ratio of meat and veggies.  The Steam Shanghai Soup Dumplings take a little more time than the other items but you they are worth the wait. This type of dumpling is not served at every Dim Sum spot so when you see it on the menu order it. There are different ways to eat a soup dumpling. You can ask the server or look it up on YouTube.  You can put a few drops of vinegar into your soup spoon, place your dumpling into the spoon and take it whole or poke a hole in the dumpling to let soup broth out. Either way, Shanghai Soup Dumplings are special and Macky's does a great job! Macky's does not push carts of dim sum anymore.  You just order from the menu.  Service is quick and the food is hot. They offer beer and spirits. Highly recommend putting Macky's in your Dim Sum rotation. read more

Four stars because was perfect for the occasion. Came here for Thanksgiving with the grandparents and Macky's Dim Sum made the meal easy for all of us, but especially our lovely grandparents. Huge pluses: - We could call and get a reservation. What is this? A reservation for dim sum? Amazing. - And we were seated immediately when we arrived. YES! - Restaurant has reasonable spacing around the tables so one of us who's deaf in one ear could still hear family. - Close by parking so we didn't have to walk miles and miles to the restaurant - Super helpful service, very attentive - Could order off a menu so everyone could get what they wanted relatively quickly Was the food amazing? Well, it was reasonable. This is one of those reviews where service and convenience are a 5 and it pulls the review rating up :-) My favorite was the Shanghai dumplings which were salty and flavorful. We are really into Shanghai dumplings as a fam and these were meaty, chewy, and brothy. Dumpling skin was a little thicker than usual but entirely fine. In general, dim sum here had thicker shells/wrappers than I might expect but it was fine. Pork footballs were good but not hot enough, shrimp and rice noodle was good, sesame balls were good but thick, mango pudding was ok, garlic green beans were in a very very thick gloppy sauce (the spicy ones were better), tea was not loose leaf and might have been premade, gai lan was steamed not fried and we prefer steamed so that was a win. Two mistakes with our large order, and it felt expensive, but we haven't been out to dim sum since our last major holiday when we went to Top Gun, so perhaps we don't know. I worked in Issaquah from 1995 to 2003. In that time, I sampled all the food the city had to offer. Macky's used to be a different Chinese establishment, when it closed, it was closed for some time, so Macky's has been on my radar for a while. Since they never had a website, I never checked them out. They recently launched a website, so it's time to give them a try. I won't waste time; nothing went well here. First, the website has only been online for a month and the prices have already increased. Not much, about 10%, but I hate places that don't keep their website up to date, especially when it just launched. I tried the potstickers with Mongolian Beef. The potstickers were deep fried and not pan friend like photos online, there were also room temp which tells me they friend up a bunch earlier and where just keeping them warm. The Mongolian Beef wasn't bad, but it was a bit fishy and sweet. I've had worse, but I've also had much better. This place was in the 2-star range until I went into the restroom. The smell of urine was so strong it was clear to me this place had not been cleaned in weeks. If you got a nasty restroom, I wouldn't expect much more from your kitchen. At that point, I paid my bill and walked out. I would not be shocked if I spent the next couple days recovering from food poisoning. This was hands down the filthiest restaurant I've seen in some time and should call out that flies were also heavy around the restaurant which again tells me something was rotting in the kitchen. Been craving dim sum for a while, and with the COVID-19 craziness, I cant just easily dine in and enjoy a table full of dim sum with family or friends while carts of yummy food are being pushed around us like we used to. This is the first time I ordered dim sum to go, so I decided on Macky's because it was nearby, the prices seemed decent compared to other places, and they had one of my favorites: the fried shrimp dumpling. I called to put in my order. They didn't pick up, so I thought maybe they were really busy or not open. As I started sadly thinking of what other place I should order food from, Macky's called me back within a minute. I then ordered Pan Fried Pork Buns, Steamed Pork Sui Mai, Deep Fried Shrimp Dumpling, Chicken Feet, Fried Sticky Rice, and Soy Sauce Chow Mein. And the whole time, I kept wondering if this will be enough food for me. I was really tempted to add on more dumplings. Order was ready in about 10-15 minutes. The guy was very friendly. They remembered to give me some chili oil that I had requested. But they did not give any plasticware or napkins, so if you plan to snack on your way home, you're gonna have to use your hands, which I wouldn't mind anyway. I laid everything out on my dinner table, and yes, I did a happy dance in my chair. I was hungry and excited to eat. Everything was yummy. The chicken feet was tender and flavorful, and easy to eat. The sui mai was meaty and good flavor. The Pan Fried Pork Buns were soft and the bread had a nice slightly sweet taste. The Deep Fried Shrimp was how it should be: crispy and full of shrimp, but it came with sweet and sour sauce and I prefer the sweet mayo sauce with it instead. Both the chow mein and Sticky Fried Rice were good, but I needed to add the chili oil to it for some spice and more flavor. I would say the Sticky Fried Rice is my least favorite out of it all; I think I would just prefer regular fried rice. When I'm craving dim sum again, will definitely come back here. read more

TOTALLY LEGIT, Macky's is simply the BEST Chinese food anywhere in the Eastside of Seattle, perhaps even the Pacific Northwest. I've been coming here for over decades (at both locations, old and new) and I've travelled throughout the Orient and spent a lot of time in mainland China and Hong Kong, and you CANNOT find anything close to the range of choices of the simple quality of Macky's. A complete Mom and Pop, with probably a few aunts and uncles mixed in, all happy, hardworking folks who love to please their guests. Completely consistent menu, what you liked last week will still be there today and just as good. They cater to diverse clients like myself, and let me tell you, I'd have to pay a $4,500.00 plane fare to get anything close to the same quality in Hong Kong. - Braised Chicken Feet - Traditional Lotus Wrapped Pork Sticky Rice - Steamed Beef Tripe (other-worldly) ..and for the more American tastes, - The best Fried Cod and Calamari you could find ANYWHERE. - The garlic or spicy green beans are delightful Honestly, I could eat here every day, the prices are so reasonable, the serivce is fast and the presentation is immaculate.
