I fork a detour heading north to see Gladwin and this restaurant caught my eye because when I travel I find amazing food in local restaurants. Mack's is no exception I ordered the fish plate lunch that came with delicious homemade coleslaw, very tasty skinny French fries, and a fried white fish filet that was amazing as the seasoning in the batter so complemented the fish that you wanted to eat it up quickly, just like when you eat chocolate and want more. Their homemade tartar sauce was the beat I have ever had. Take a detour on your travels, you'd be amazed. And to boot, with the staff you felt like they were catering you at home. read more

Come here every time I'm in town just for their waffles. They have pearled sugar on them which gives it such a sweet soft crunch when you bite. Use their house jam and a bit of syrup to make them even better! read more

Exactly what it is supposed to be. Hot homemade inexpensive food quick from a friendly downtown diner. We ordered the two specials, chicken over biscuits and goulash with garlic toast. Both very good. Busy place on a Thursday afternoon in October, but not too busy. Lots of locals, hard working farmer types. Coffee was good. Place is clean, too. Happy find and recommend. They take credit cards, too, no fee. read more

In town for the first time and couldn't have been more pleased with our breakfast choice. Everything was delicious, especially the jam on sourdough, and the atmosphere was quintessential small town. (Including the owner shooing out a table of locals drinking coffee when there was a line . Great food, but service lacks. Came in to a sign that says "Wait to be seated". After standing for about 10 minutes without any acknowledgment & numerous staff walking past, we asked if we could sit at an empty table. Waitress looked a bit annoyed & said, "yeah, it's clean". only diner in the small town of gladwin . im sure the locals enjoy it , but my coffee was watered down , asked for a new cup 10min later .. same thing . I really wanted a cup of coffee but its was undrinkable . the sausage in my breakfast was microwavable sausage . i couldn't believe it . its good but I'd expect better from a restaurant . one and done for me . read more

We were in town for a hockey tournament. After a long drive to get here my kids were starving because they hadn't eaten since they fell asleep in the car during the ride up. We walked in at 750 pm not knowing they closed at 8. Normally I would expect the server not to be thrilled with someone seating last minute. It was quite the opposite our server was fantastic she was so nice and even was chatting with our kids just super friendly. Food came out quick and was amazing. We all had something vastly different my oldest son had breakfast biscuits and gravy with eggs... my wife had lunch Reuben and fries and I had dinner fish and chips... our youngest had Mac and cheese and fries and everyones meal was devoured quickly because it was so good. We walked out of the restaurant at 815 to get us seated food ordered prepped and eaten in 25 min was amazing. We will definitely be back. read more

I've had multiple horrible experiences with the owner and the food, despite how many times we've wanted to support local and give it a chance. She makes a point to NOT greet me, only my boyfriend, when we walk-in. We come there almost once a week and she's never once spoken a word to me, even when she is my server and I'm asking questions about my order/ the menu. The last four times we went, she intentionally got my order wrong- even though I order the same thing every time. The last time we went there I heard the owner talking badly about me to the cook while my boyfriend was in the bathroom referring me to a "chaperone/ babysitter." I've never been personally attacked by the owner of the restaurant and this is absurd I have had this experience multiple times despite being a paying customer! If you are wondering what the owner looks like, she is an overweight ginger with a nasty attitude. Don't go to this restaurant if you expect any common decency or customer service. read more

Just nasty all the way around! The lady, I think her name is Amanda, was rude to us AGAIN today. We walked in, the place a complete mess. Ask how many was in our party and we told her 6. She rolled her eyes and walked away. We decided not to wait once I seen a waitress grab toast from me take out box and put it in another with bare hands. Gross! read more
