This was our second time here....my spa service was awesome...my daughter and friends were not great. The rooms need updates...the wooden furniture is beat up and looks trashy....the trim in the bathroom had peeling paint and just needed replacement. Another mirror in the rooms would be great for 2 women to get ready at the same time. Special touches would make you stand out. read more

We came here for a family girls getaway and had an amazing time! The suite was beautiful and so big. We spent a lot of time in the common area playing pool and hanging out. The free gift was either a choice of a wine glass or sample shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion which was nice! The staff is extremely friendly especially after our complaints of the rude wedding guests screaming and throwing things until 3am. Loved the boutique and the restaurant was top tier. Came to the Riverwalk Place for dinner and it was absolutely delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely and it's a beautiful view of the water from the entire dining area. My sister-in-law and I took our daughters for a quick getaway. We all got a spa service and stayed in suite 302. Oasis salon did a great job on our derives. The robe and relaxation room before the massage are a great touch. We had a nice dinner at the Riverwalk grill. We were all satisfied with the food and service. We had the Cajun chicken, stung Mac and cheese, meatloaf, and fish and chips. We had some allergies at the table and special requests and they were happy to accommodate. We are in the bar area and we're able to catch the end of the basketball game. The suite was very comfortable and had a full kitchen 3 bathrooms 2 bedrooms and 2 Murphy beds. It was a cold dreary day so we spent our time as planned playing board games. No complaints! Thanks for a lovely stay and memories. read more

Had heard great things about this place.Went there to celebrate my 67th birthday. The location is terrific.Ambiance in the bar is good; the dining area is very bland. Salad dressings are terrible. Tartar sauce on my cod was almost tasteless. Garlic mashed potatoes were "blah". Prime rib was tough. Riverwalk Be very careful booking appts at this Spa. They are "notorious" for cancelling and changing appts at the last minute leaving you without any options, even after confirming everything multiple times. Even with manager involvement, nothing is done! No compensation or offerings of any kind for any inconvenience. It's been happening a lot lately. Also, for the price you are paying for the spa services, there are no spa amenities to enjoy. No snacks or drinks made available, no sauna or steam room like other places, was told bottle water would be given and no bottle water was given. Just very "basic" spa. Whatever service you are paying for is all you're getting, no extras at all!They jam pack the schedules even if it means shortening one customer's scheduled time for another. Even after expressing disappointment, a manager said she would investigate and get back to me...no follow up whatsoever! Would not recommend unless you are ok with not having 100% commitment of your appointment scheduled, don't mind a "very basic spa" with no extras, and a jammed packed schedule with unknown changes upon arrival. Very poorly run spa fir the price you pay. They should never change your appt after confirming with you. If they schedule you for a certain time, that's what it should be. My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the Riverwalk while visiting nearby family. Our room was fantastically clean and well-appointed. We had a room with a jetted tub which was wonderful for unwinding at the end of a very long day. Staff was fantastic, the grounds were neat and clean, and the hotel was lovely. My wife was able to enjoy a spa day and I got a massage between family events. When we return for our next reunion, we plan on staying at the Riverwalk again. Thank you all! read more

Well, I was going to go 3 stars but I have been waiting over 20 minutes for the jacuzzi tub to fill. At least 10 more minutes to go! Came for the husbands 60th. Thought we would come early, hit the grill for some small bites, change and go to dinner. Grill was closed but it was doing a snow storm. Decided to go ahead and eat dinner. Trust me worth the trip! Dinner was amazing! Would do the dining but skip the stay. We have a couples massage in the morning. Hopefully the tub will fill by then! read more

As a little getaway-from-home, my wife and I enjoyed this place very much. It's much different from typical hotels in that there are only a handful of rooms, so it actually does not feel like a hotel at all. Weird at first - but see this as a plus! The king bed room was spacious and comfortable although the bathroom and shower could have been a little bigger. However, this did not detract from our experience at all. We initially had a misunderstanding regarding the billing, but they were quick to rectify the situation. They could tried to argue their position, but they didn't and made it right. I'm always pleased when businesses validate and resolve issues quickly. It definitely keeps customers coming back. Everything from the front desk to the Oasis Salon to the Grill - the service all around was fantastic. We recommend Riverwalk Place to anyone looking to get a way for a day or two! read more

If you're looking for a 5 star restaurant, this is not it. But if you're looking for a decent meal that's a little fancy, this is your place. The entrees were just ok, but the desserts were AMAZING! The staff were very friendly. I think the food could be better, but it's decent for Gladwin. One of the reviews (pig comment) is unfair. She/he is clearly bias and shows it by commenting on artwork. WTH does that have to so with how my food tastes? If you want microwave food, then hit up one of the local dives. By the way, the hotel rooms are awesome. Hidden gem in Gladwin  989.426.9941  We ate at the River Walk Restaurant this past Saturday for the first time. We sat inside by the windows so we could look out over the river. They also have patio seating but there was a wedding on the patio at the time we were there. We had very good service. I had the beef Wellington and my husband had the ribs. Both were outstanding. Had lunch here recently, and it wasn't much better, and maybe worse. Mexican specials for lunch... the tacos were the kind you'd find in a school cafeteria, nothing special about them. The 'mexican pizza' was neither, and essentially inedible. I felt sorry for Yelp-chick who ordered this. Oh, and don't put the nasty Cheez-wiz on 'chips' with the tacos. A really nice and quiet place. Right by the river and the view of it is beautiful if you are on the river side. The place was not very busy when we were there. We had 306 but we were originally booked for a different room but that one was under construction so we got upgraded and that was great. It was on the top floor with a great view of the river. The top floor you can only access of you have a room up there so it is private. There is a big room on the top floor that you walk through to get to your room and it has a weights set, pool table, bar, library and sitting area that is open to all the guest staying on the top floor. Our room was amazing me myself being young I have never stayed in this nice and big of a hotel room it was so cool. It was all very clean and the showers were awesome. It has the head on the ceiling so it is like you are standing in the rain. The soap also smells very good that is in the shower. The beds were comfortable and cozy. All the rooms come with their own bathroom that was nice. The master had a jacuzzi that was fun and worked. Over all it is a clean and spacious room great for a weekend stay. read more

Stayed on property last weekend for a family wedding. It was absolute pleasure working with the staff from Shelby at the front desk who helped book our rooms and Teresa who planned and executed the wedding reception. Customer Service was Top Notch! Teresa and her staff took care of everything! The food was superb! Cranberry and Sage Chicken dish, redskin mashed potatoes, pot roast, and what everyone described as the Best Applesauce they ever had! Service was attentive, the outdoor space with tent for cocktail hour was lovely. The whole venue is just really beautiful and elegant. Breakfast Buffet the next morning was great- Anita our waitress was attentive and friendly. Always a smile and right on point for our large family group. Our suite on the 3rd floor slept 6 people and had full sized completely stocked kitchen. Also was a large outdoor patio balcony with a table and seating for 8. Beds & pillows were very comfortable. Everything elegantly appointed and comfortable. Don't forget to stop in the first floor boutique shop for some great finds. Will be back for a girls weekend to try the spa! read more

Had shrimp capellini, Angel hair pasta with shrimp meal was 20.00 each. The food was okay, needed pepper and salt, but once added was pretty good. I thought the 20.00 was a steep price for literally a cup of noodles, 4 shrimp, dried tomatoes and a peiece of bread. Would have been better if it was atleast served with side of brocolli and a salad. The price just was not worth the meal and I wouldn't go back for that reason. Place is beautiful and the outdoor view is great but they would do more business if their prices were more in line with other restaurants. read more

You know the old expression, "You can put a pig in a dress and it's still a pig"? Likewise, you can put warmed-over food-service-company food in a pseudo-sophisticated dress -- in a lovely galleria-style building, in a dining room overlooking a winding, tree-lined river -- and in the end it's still warmed-over food-service-company food. There's no "there" there -- nothing creative or fresh or reflective of the culture of this part of the state (this despite a rather large farm market just a few miles ot of town, a local history as a hunting/fishing/agricultural area, etc). The desserts are especially sad -- obviously popped right out of the Gordon's or Sysco box. The waitstaff is spotty -- some make the effort to be professional, but others are mumbly, unhelpful and obviously unfamiliar with the food they're serving; and to me that's not their fault, but rather the fault of their supervisors, for apparently enabling an atmosphere of low expectations; not training staff that waiting on table in what's aspiring to be a nicer restaurant is different than slinging burgers across the counter at McDonald's. I've also had the experience of waiting far too long for food -- even in the context of a quick, lunch-hour lunch where I indicated I needed to be back at work on time. If you're looking for un-fussy, comfort food, I'd recommend one of the two diners in town, which are what they are and will provide you with good, satisfying chow for the money. If you're looking for something special -- well, sadly you'll have to drive elsewhere. P.S. At some point the restaurant replaced its entranceway artwork with a hideous mural-sized woodlands photo that seems backlit and is suspiciously similar to the tacky animated-waterfall "artwork" found in cheap-junk-from-China stores. It's a minor but perhaps telling addendum to a general culinary story of Not Getting It. read more

Terrible. My wife and I ordered the bang bang shrimp, pulled pork nachos, lobster bisque and French onion soup. 20 mins later everything shows up at the same time. Not a big deal to me but annoyed my wife. Shrimp was $13 for breaded, deep fried popcorn shrimp. Apparently when you put shredded cabbage on top of the $3 long john silvers shrimp it makes it much more valuable. The pulled pork was pretty good but the chips were stale tostitos and weren't even warm. But they did have shredded cabbage so.... The kicker is the manager comes by to ask how everything was. I told him the meal was very average and I told him that for $13 I wasn't expecting popcorn shrimp and stale chips. He immediately got very insulted and said he'd pass the feedback along the chef and walked away. Very disappointing since I was really looking forward to eating here. read more

This is a review of the rental condos only. I've never eaten, shopped, or attended an event here, but I've stayed in the condos numerous times. This place is by far the best accommodation in the area--within at least 40 minutes; I've tried others and researched endlessly--so considering that, I'm tempted to give it 5 stars. I am so thankful for a clean, spacious, nice place to stay at when I'm in town visiting. If the prices were more reasonable, relative to the area, I would seriously say 5 stars. BUT, considering that these are really prices comparable to a high-demand area, I think they are just asking to held to a higher standard. So, maybe 3.5... pros: -always extremely clean -very spacious and comfortable (super high ceilings and huge windows, adding to the bright, spacious feel -full kitchen -2+ bathrooms -washer and dryer -fairly recent, pretty good construction and design -very quiet and private (we usually don't see a soul after our initial check in) -the folks who work there have always been very helpful and kind neutral points to note: -i always wish the kitchen at least stocked salt and more than two packets of sugar (they do provide coffee for a coffee maker - Maxwell House) -I also wish they provided detergent for the washer -the sheets, though clean, are of the cheap, slightly scratchy variety -the beds are not great. the murphy bed mattresses are very comfy (bc they haven't been slept on much, maybe?), but the main beds are super springy and just not very comfy -mediocre TV selections (basic cable) -the decor is somewhat contemporary, but cheesy. fake plants (which I get, so okay) and fake Euro signs/paintings. But, it's fairly uncluttered, so I don't mind much. But again, the price almost suggests something a little higher-end. cons: -the price. I understand rentals like this require more cleaning and upkeep. Why not do as other short term rentals do: charge a more reasonable nightly rate but add a cleaning fee (say, $75). That way, if I want to rent it for a night, no loss to you, but if I want it for a week, the rate is more reasonable. And/or do something else other short term rentals do: charge a lower rate for 3+ nights, a week, etc. -totally inadequate window coverings (except for the bedrooms that are pitch black because they have zero windows). Big picture windows are lovely, but they only have blinds to cover half of them for privacy, not for light. Plus, if you get a unit adjacent to the parking lot, sometimes the lights are left on out there and that equals bright light through the windows all night long. -the pillows are pretty terrible. read more

Wow! I just read the other reviews and had a very different experience. I was recently taken here for a spa/ladies weekend and thought it was amazing. We stayed in one of the condos, which was very beautiful, clean, well stocked and accommodated 8 of us comfortably. Condo gets 5 stars. The spa was wonderful and had very reasonable rates, especially with their packages. The services were overall very good. We visited the restaurant and I thought the food was great. I plan on going here again. Also, have to comment on the "chinese waterfall'" photos when heading into the restaurant. They are beautiful. I first saw this artist while visiting Las Vegas and wanted to buy one of these pieces because I thought they were so interesting and beautiful, but they were way, way, out of my price range. Just had to throw that in. I think these critics were extremely critical, or things have changed. read more

Our family came here with two young children. Very accommodating, and very nice atmosphere. The French onion soup and the lobster bisque soup were both wonderful. The chicken stir fry was delicious, and so was the French dip, though the au jus to dip in was pretty salty. The charbroiled steak could have used a little more seasoning, but was cooked to perfection, along with the mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Went for dinner on a cold December evening. The fish tacos were very good, and the wine selection was top drawer. I enjoyed a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, Ca Momi. The highlight of my dinner was the Creme Brulee for dessert. I have had Creme Brulee in multiple ciites in the States and other countries in Europe. I would rate the Creme Brulee in the top 3. Oh wow there are a lot of not so good reviews of this site. I had the opposite experience from all of the other reviewers. I was with a group of 12 girls for a bachelorette party and was had the opportunity to stay in one of the condos. I thought it was a great experience. I had two spa services that were fabulous. The entire place had a great relaxing, upscale atmosphere that just put me in a good mood right away. All of us girls had the best time. I do have to say that the food wasn't that great. I ordered the alfredo but only paid 12 dollars for my dinner and found it to be adequette to an Olive Garden type restaurant. Paying $12 for dinner, I didn't expect to be WOWED over the food so I was satisfied with my dinner. The popular dish in our group was the steak (which was also inexpensive). I think one of the girls licked the plate clean. But for the price of the dinners, I thought the food was fine. Our group came from all over the state driving as far as 3+ hours to get there and four weeks later are still talking about how fabulous it was. I am sure I am not the only one who plans on making the long drive again very soon. For the price of this place, I can't believe more people are having bad experiences. This would be the "upper class" restaurant/bar/shopping place of Gladwin. The problem is that 99 percent of this area is middle class,farms, and the Amish. Great place, wrong location. It's a very nice building but it should be named "THE RIVER WADE PLACE as the river floods the lot around the building every spring or when it rains hard. You'd think they would have thought of researching that BEFORE they built the place on the flood plain of a river and maybe did a little demographic research BEFORE building a swanky place in farm town. 5 stars for atmosphere, cleanliness, handicapped accessibility, and design. but can only give it 3 stars due to the drawbacks. read more

Second time visiting here for meetings. Hotel suites are awesome. Large rooms, high ceilings, separate baths, kitchen area...great decor. Great 2-3 day getaway location. Suite common area very unusual...bar, exercise, pool table....very friendly. Spent some time in the spa getting first massage...very friendly service. Salon looked impressive. This time in meetings and afterward spent some money at the boutique for xmas presents, ate at restaurant, and later the bar. Great service again. Ordered the special and it was very good...ate it all..unusual for me. We ordered dessert and enjoyed view of river behind the facility. Decorated very nice for xmas. Riverwalk Place was as enjoyable on the second visit as my first visit. I continue to be impressed with the quality of food and service. I was there to enjoy a lunch and some shopping. Overall the Riverwalk experience was very good. The service was friendly, courteous, and prompt. The waitress did a nice job of following up with us and checking to see if there was anything else she could provide for us. I always find the shopping experience very enjoyable at Riverwalk place. They helped her in and held doors for her to get her walker through. The customer service from the girl at the front desk was top knotch.
