Crystal Sands Beach Resort

Crystal Sands Beach Resort

Loved everything about this resort! I spend most MI summer weekends enjoying the Lake Huron…read morebeachfront at different venues with cottage rentals. Crystal Sands Beach resort was able to accommodate a girls weekend (17 girls) easily. The beach house apartments provided plenty of room, gorgeous views, full kitchen and an open floor plan. The Villa's are equipped with full kitchens, bedrooms, and open floor plans in general living areas. The Suite's were open floor plans with refrigerators and coffeemakers. The property and beach were well kept and grounds crews seemed to make regular rounds to ensure cleanliness. The resort is on the beach and has a gorgeous beach area. There were many families and children enjoying their swimming, kayaking, and bulldog sand castles. At night the resort set up chairs and multiple fire pits on the beach for guests and kept the wood coming and fires going! The resort also came equipped with regular housekeeping which included daily garbage changes, cleaning, and towel replacement. The resort is handicap accessible with an ADA Suite and handicap beach access. My travel companion is wheelchair bound and we had no problems getting around. The beach house steps were wide enough to get a wheelchair bound person up and down and all staff and owners were quick to offer assistance when we took the wheelchair and occupant of wheelchair up and down the steps. I've stayed in many (most) locations in that area on the beach and this is by far the best. We can't wait to go back for our annual girls weekend next year! I can't say enough about the location or the amazing staff/owners of the resort. They truly work hard (while making it appear effortless) to ensure everyone is having a great time. Thank you Sam and Nada!!!! It was truly a pleasure meeting you and thank you for such a great time and all that you did to make our 25th annual weekend perfect!

Of course, then I didn't know how to stop so I ended up losing, but it was really fun because all the games were very, very animated and really fun and a lot of of them. Just don't think you will get free drinks like you do in Nevada because I asked for a house type drink but decided to ask how much $$. $8.

I don't know what Michigan has to offer in the way of Casinos, but this resort in the middle of…read morenowhere (to me, anyway) did the job well. They had plenty of parking, but wished they had better signage for Hotel Check In (it's on the right of the main entrance) The guest rooms weren't overly nice, but they had lots of buttons for the lights and shades which made it easy to turn everything on or off in the room. The bathroom even had a heat lamp which would be great for a cool visit. The pillows were some of the best hotel pillows I've had. I even slept with my hands between two of them! The casino was a good size with lots of slots, video poker and table games. They even had my favorite, Let it Ride. Although I didn't win, it was fun to play again as it seems to have just died out. The dealer was super friendly and talkative too, and not in an annoying way. Food options were good with nice options as well as a food court, sports bar, and coffee shop. It was enough where you didn't need to leave for a few days. I was there for a conference and the staff and food/drinks they offered were on the better side of average. While I wouldn't go out of my way to go here (i.e. a 2 hour drive from GRR airport), if I was in the area, or 30-40 mins away, I'd stop in again.

Grand Traverse Resort & Spa - Brand New Double Queen Hotel Room

It was really…read morean excellent little getaway with many pros and only a few cons This resort specializes in golf...golf...GOLF (haha) during the summer, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have much to offer in the winter. There is an AMAZING spa (excellent sauna, hot tub, indoor pool, great massages), basketball and tennis courts, arcade, axe throwing, mini bowling, and indoor golf simulators. And if you prefer to just not leave the room, very comfy beds with couch seating at almost 400 sq feet per the most basic room (next time we stay here we will probably stay on the tower side of the resort where the rooms are even a little nicer). What we also loved here was the food. Aerie restaurant might be our new favorite restaurant in Michigan (close toss up with The Chophouse in Grand Rapids). See a separate review of mine for more particulars. There is also amazing room service, Niiji restaurant downstairs next to the lobby (great breakfast menu), and Jacks where you can get a good pizza or cheesy bread with awesome drinks. As for the cons, there are two: 1. A little pricey, and will only increase as we get more "in season." For the extra cost of an airplane ride, we could get a suite in downtown Vegas at the Golden Nugget, Plaza, or a luxury mini suite on Michigan Avenue in Chicago for the same price per night here of a standard room. That doesn't necessarily mean the price is not worth it here. Just be prepared is all. 2. Kids. Ugh. During the week there were not many people staying here, but as the weekend crept up more families arrived. Of course all it takes is one mommy and daddy to get drunk at Jacks downstairs while letting 3 ten year old buffoons run up and down the hall six floors up knocking on doors and running away to peeve folks like my wife and I to really put a damper on things (I don't mind admitting I don't like kids-lol. I have my own children and grandchildren-that's enough for me). The point is... do not confuse this with an adults only sanctuary. That is not what this place is. Just be prepared. Overall the score here is more like a 4.5 vs a true 5, but I'm rounding up as my wife and I were able to create some precious memories. That is bigger and better than any high price or annoying kids. Job very well done by the GTR&S. Looking forward to coming back here next year perhaps for a golf outing. :)

We're currently staying at Grand Traverse Harbor Resort (March 24-28), and unfortunately, our…read moreexperience started off on a very disappointing note. My family and I--my wife and three children--arrived after a 5-hour drive from Chicago, just one day after my wife had surgery. After that kind of travel, you expect a warm and professional welcome. That was not our experience. At check-in, there was no one at the front desk. When a staff member named Adriana arrived, there was no greeting, no eye contact, and the interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming from the start. Even after we calmly tried to reset the tone, the experience did not improve. When we asked to speak with a manager, the situation remained uncomfortable and unresolved.she was even interrupting her manager johnny and said she didn't care if we gave a review. This was a surprising first impression for a resort of this caliber. We also couldn't ignore that we were the only Black family present at the time, which made the interaction feel even more concerning. I'm sharing this feedback in hopes that management will take a closer look and address it. We're still here for several days and would truly appreciate the opportunity for our experience to be turned around. Hoping someone from management reaches out during our stay.

A friend found this resort when we were looking for somewhere to go for a girl's weekend. We stayed…read morein a third floor penthouse. I can sum up Lebear with one word: WOW. Absolutely amazing. A beautiful spacious apartment, with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. It easily slept the six of us and we did not feel the least bit over crowded. As there was a group of us the price really was pretty reasonable for the weekend. While family friendly, it could be a bit pricey. The kitchen comes with everything you need from dinner ware to dish soap. There is a large grill on the private porch besides the stove top and oven. Two fireplaces (one is gas and the other you have to light for which they provide all needed materials). There are two flat screen TVs in the main rooms, another in the master bedroom and a small one in the bunk room. The shower in the master bath is huge and there is also a separate large tub. The best part is the large porch that overlooks the beach and Lake Michigan. It wraps around the side around to the back. the view of the lake and Sleeping Bear Dunes is beautiful. The resort also has a gym, outdoor pool and hot tub. Blu, a restaurant I highly recommend, is attached. There is also free wifi (they provide a password). The staff was also amazing, expect to be treated like an honored guest. They take care if anything you might need, even marsh mellows. The only slightly negative thing is that Lebear is a bit off on its own in Glen Arbor. The wineries are about a half hour away which was reasonable. Glen Arbor is small but charming. There are several shops, a couple bars (try Art's Tavern) and a grocery store. The resort is a very short walk from the town.

This review is really more of a 4.5. Absolutely beautiful location and accommodations; very…read morefamily-friendly, great amenities. There are all sorts of tiny details that make Lebear a special place, such as cucumber-ice water by the pool, cookies in the kitchen, and free and easy kayak use on site. The location is excellent. We have stayed at the Homestead in years past, but the Lebear location really sets it apart as it is a quick walk to the grocery stores, restaurants and shops in Glen Arbor. My only complaint is a minor one, and it's just that the bedroom situation is a little funky. In all three of the units I saw, the master bedroom was perfect, but the two smaller guest rooms left much to be desired. One of the bedrooms has a nice queen bed and bunk beds and the other has a double or queen-sized trundle bed. I would think to put the trundle bed in the room with the bunk beds (making it more of a "kids" room) and leave the nice queen-sized bed in its own room. Also, the hallway lighting outside of the two smaller guest rooms was extremely bright at night and made it very difficult to sleep.
