Probably a great location for smelly hunters during deer season to get away from wife and kids. This property has three homes which can be rented at the same time for a large group, which is what…read morewe did. This review is specifically for the Lake House and the grounds in general. Pros- there was plenty of space for our group of 20+ people to spread out on the property.  We had plenty of room for parking and were only a mile from a grocery store when we needed supplies. There were plenty of bath towels for our use and the AC on the second floor worked well.  There were board games, books and yard games for our group to use. Cons- the property felt rundown and neglected.  The lawn was too high when we arrived and was never mowed during the week we were there. Since we planned to spend a lot of time outside this was disappointing.  The deck on the Lake House is in need of serious repair.  There were pots full of dirt and weeds scattered around and the landscaping was so overgrown we could barely see the lake when sitting on the furniture.  There are some very soft spots in the decking that I was worried someone might actually go through.  The kitchen has an apartment size stove/oven which we were not expecting. The oven wouldn't even fit a standard baking sheet. Our kitchen seemed to be missing a lot of items: can opener, spatulas, a large bowl for mixing, sauce pans, etc.  We also didn't have a single clothes hanger in any of our closets or any floor fans, even though we were told there was at least one for us to use. We were told things get moved around from house to house when groups stay there, which is understandable. I think they need a list of basic items that should be in the house when the cleaning is done so it's ready for the next guests though. Luckily we knew the people in the other rentals and could borrow things from them. The AC on the main floor did not work well. The showers/bathtubs need to be updated.  The grout was stained/dirty and the shower head on the main floor bath was the smallest one I've ever seen.  The living room was a good size but so full of furniture it was hard to move around.  There are also electrical cords running along the walls on both sides of the TV.  You can tell they had to run those for the TV hook ups which is fine, but could be a problem if you have little kids in your group.  None of the outdoor spaces on the property were very well kept up or inviting places to hang out. Overall I feel like it was a good home base if you are going to spend the majority of your time offsite. This property has tremendous potential and would make an awesome small event venue if repairs were made and the grounds were properly cared for. If I was looking for a property for a group of 20-25 people I would stay here again because it is hard to find a place to accommodate that many people. But if I were looking for a place for just my family I would stay elsewhere.

For starters Ernie and Vivian were incredible host, honestly made us feel right at home the second we walked in. The Inn itself, is the perfect combination of old and new, well preserved antiques with modern amenities. We stayed in the spinning wheel room and it was very nice. Of course seeing threw the tub, into the bathroom, from the bedroom, wasn't a typical accommodation we understood that it was a temporary fix. They are planning on remolding the bathroom throughout the house soon. On the other hand, the bed was pretty rough. I hate to mention anything negative about this place but I had to at least prepare you for your sleep. Saying it's hard, would be an understatement. If they were to update the mattresses around the time they are planning on the bathrooms this would be in my top 3 B&B's we have stayed at. It's still in my top 5, but the bed is holding it back. However once you wake up crack your back and stretch out a bit you quickly forget there could've been anything wrong. The breakfast was a decadent feast with homemade jam, whipped cream, and even maple syrup. Then to burn it all off, there beautiful home is located on 127 acres of even more beautiful woods equipped with trails for easier walking. This ranch did not disappoint. Each room is decorated so cute, the beds were very comfortable and having a private bathroom for each room was a defendant plus. The breakfast was homemade and very delicious! The owner made sure each room was clean and even asked us if the breakfast time was good for us. You won't get this kind of service at a hotel. The surrounding ranch was beautiful. Sitting on the large deck overlooking the horse ranch with coffee in hand was so calming. I wanted to stay longer. I would recommend staying here for as long as your vacation allows. You may even bring your horse or book to ride their horse. They have a large property with trails, along with state land behind them which also has many trails. I would recommend staying here, you won't want to leave.

I…read morecame here for a work conference with a fellow coworker and we received a discount for staying here (along with other attendees.) Walking in, the lobby is absolutely fabulous, beautifully decorated and well maintained. The staff greets you when you walk in and the front desk has at least one person, usually two working and available all the time along with a concierge. The hotel's located right on main street so you're close to the action of downtown midland. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance along with a private parking garage. There's street parking as well, but I think it's limited to no overnight parking. Speaking of food, the H hotel also has at least one (maybe two) onsite restaurants. I know one of them is called Cafe Zinc. While we didn't eat there, it looked super nice, and worth a shot if you want. The rooms here are amazing. High end mattress, beautifully laid out bathroom with a barn door, coffee station with a Keurig, small fridge and automatic blinds! I abused the automatic blinds and enjoyed not having outside lighting disrupt my sleep. They have a couch that's built into the wall, almost like a daybed. I tried laying on it but I didn't find it all that comfy to be honest. Plenty of charging ports, a robe, slippers and plenty of storage space for your luggage and clothing. The TV is hidden behind a mirror and blends in with the decorum. They have a pool here and an exercise room which I did not use due to lack of time. Valet is by request and aside from a tip, part of your stay here. The concierge will take your luggage up, but don't forget to tip! The meeting and conference rooms were fantastic. The hotel offers different sized rooms, and we used all of them. The largest I think is the Indigo where we ate and had breakfast. The catering staff did a fantastic job of serving breakfast on time and promptly at 7:30 AM, along with lunch as well for both days I was there. If something ran out, the staff refilled it immediately. In the conference rooms, they also provided a briefcase with office supplies if you should need them. I checked it out and actually had to use a few. Such items include highlighters, staplers, note cards, binder clips and other small ticket office items. They also have a fabulous courtyard that leads out into downtown midland. They have curling set up in the middle along with tables and benches throughout. At night, the tables have gas fireplaces so you can toast your buns if it's chilly, like it was the second day we were there. Our conference didn't use the courtyard a lot, but the other convention did. We also sat outside to eat once, and it was great. The only thing lacking was the garbage cans were hard to find. I think they had one by the door but additional garbage cans would've been great. My only complaint? The elevators were down when we arrived. I guess their renovating the two that they have in the lobby and it got annoying after a while. The repair guys were working on it and they got one up and running by the end of the day. The second one was totally out of service. I hope they get that fixed soon as carrying luggage or going up 5 flights of stairs doesn't sound exciting if you're coming and going all the time. Overall, this hotel's a gem and everyone should stay here at least once. What a fantastic experience!

The second visit, we were not able to get the same type of room and settled for a basic queen room. When we first got into the room, we attempted to lower the temperature of the room since it was hot. When the thermostat was lowered the temperature did not change. After contacting the front desk, who very professional, and we were informed the engineer would check out the room. When he arrived, he informed us the coolers were not turned on, but the room was still warm. His solution was to just open a window. Not customer oriented. The shower head was loose and would not stay in position while showering and had to be held in place. Not what was expected for a hotel of this caliber.
