This hotel is absolutely fabulous and it was one of the best experiences I've had in some time. I came here for a work conference with a fellow coworker and we received a discount for staying here (along with other attendees.) Walking in, the lobby is absolutely fabulous, beautifully decorated and well maintained. The staff greets you when you walk in and the front desk has at least one person, usually two working and available all the time along with a concierge. The hotel's located right on main street so you're close to the action of downtown midland. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance along with a private parking garage. There's street parking as well, but I think it's limited to no overnight parking. Speaking of food, the H hotel also has at least one (maybe two) onsite restaurants. I know one of them is called Cafe Zinc. While we didn't eat there, it looked super nice, and worth a shot if you want. The rooms here are amazing. High end mattress, beautifully laid out bathroom with a barn door, coffee station with a Keurig, small fridge and automatic blinds! I abused the automatic blinds and enjoyed not having outside lighting disrupt my sleep. They have a couch that's built into the wall, almost like a daybed. I tried laying on it but I didn't find it all that comfy to be honest. Plenty of charging ports, a robe, slippers and plenty of storage space for your luggage and clothing. The TV is hidden behind a mirror and blends in with the decorum. They have a pool here and an exercise room which I did not use due to lack of time. Valet is by request and aside from a tip, part of your stay here. The concierge will take your luggage up, but don't forget to tip! The meeting and conference rooms were fantastic. The hotel offers different sized rooms, and we used all of them. The largest I think is the Indigo where we ate and had breakfast. The catering staff did a fantastic job of serving breakfast on time and promptly at 7:30 AM, along with lunch as well for both days I was there. If something ran out, the staff refilled it immediately. In the conference rooms, they also provided a briefcase with office supplies if you should need them. I checked it out and actually had to use a few. Such items include highlighters, staplers, note cards, binder clips and other small ticket office items. They also have a fabulous courtyard that leads out into downtown midland. They have curling set up in the middle along with tables and benches throughout. At night, the tables have gas fireplaces so you can toast your buns if it's chilly, like it was the second day we were there. Our conference didn't use the courtyard a lot, but the other convention did. We also sat outside to eat once, and it was great. The only thing lacking was the garbage cans were hard to find. I think they had one by the door but additional garbage cans would've been great. My only complaint? The elevators were down when we arrived. I guess their renovating the two that they have in the lobby and it got annoying after a while. The repair guys were working on it and they got one up and running by the end of the day. The second one was totally out of service. I hope they get that fixed soon as carrying luggage or going up 5 flights of stairs doesn't sound exciting if you're coming and going all the time. Overall, this hotel's a gem and everyone should stay here at least once. What a fantastic experience! read more

Our stay at the H Hotel in Midland was disappointing. The room was small and very lacking in storage space. There was only half a drawer and very limited (and too short) hanging space further hampered by the fluffed up robes the hotel was merchandising. The K-Cup coffee machine and refrigerator space could be a plus for some, but if they were out in the room there would be more storage space. The shower had very small bottles of shampoo and shower gel. This might have been OK if the room was serviced daily, but we ran out of shower gel on the second morning as we were hurrying to get ready for breakfast. There were no towel bars to dry towels between use, so they were still damp the next day. The front desk told me it was 'normal' for rooms not to receive service every day. We booked a stay with 'free breakfast' which we assumed meant we would receive 'free breakfast'. On check in we were advised to make reservations at the Cafe Zinc. At Open Table I discovered very few slots were available for booking. Slots for more than 2 people were only available very early and even slots for 2 were quite limited. So we went to breakfast earlier than we would prefer. The free breakfast was a $20/person allowance which was less than any main course plus coffee. On Saturday morning we waited 20 minutes behind walk-ins before we could tell the hostess we had reservations. Given the total hassle factor I suggest skipping the 'free breakfast' option especially on weekends or if you want to eat with more than 1 person unless you can book several days in advance. read more

We have stayed at the hotel on 2 occasions. The first was fantastic. The queen deluxe suite was comfortable and roomy. The second visit, we were not able to get the same type of room and settled for a basic queen room. When we first got into the room, we attempted to lower the temperature of the room since it was hot. When the thermostat was lowered the temperature did not change. After contacting the front desk, who very professional, and we were informed the engineer would check out the room. When he arrived, he informed us the coolers were not turned on, but the room was still warm. His solution was to just open a window. Not customer oriented. The shower head was loose and would not stay in position while showering and had to be held in place. Not what was expected for a hotel of this caliber. read more

My first time staying at H. Very nice place surrounded by a lot of places to eat and have fun. This hotel has 3 bars and a restaurant associated with it, making it extremely convenient. The staff was great at every turn, whether that was front desk, maintenance crew or bartenders (Taylor). I don't get out to Midland much but I will be staying at The H Hotel when I do again. read more

What an amazing experience at the H hotel in Midland MI. We were here for a wedding and cannot say enough about the mid beautiful hotel. From the moment we walked in and greeted by the most friend stay, to the time our visit ended. All of the registration staff were very friendly and accommodating. They explained everything, made sure we knew the pool and gym were open 24 hours, and made accommodations for parking for all guests staying at the venue. We ate in their outside area under a huge tent awning. Had never done this and it was amazing. The appetizers were delicious, Katie, our concierge/service lady, was fabulous. Flew into town for a wedding and our party stayed at the H. Rooms and food were incredible, but the front desk staff were not accommodating. Felt as if every request was first met with 5 different attempts to find a reason to not help us out (including calling managers, asking other employees in the back rooms, etc.) I did enjoy the gym, but the hot tub was filthy. We saw the brown dirt all the in tub, and decided to get in anyways thinking maybe it was just old and discolored. As we touched the seats in the tub, clouds of dirt clouded the water and we left the hot tub. Midland was very nice and quiet which was a relaxing change for our weekend. Might stay here again if need be, but would highly recommend renting a car from the airport if you'd like to get around. read more

Loved my stay here. The furnishings & trimmings are on par with a resort hotel. Electric blinds, TV disguised as a mirror & a mini fridge. Beds are very comfy & nice weighted duvet. We extended our stay twice. Breakfast restaurant is amazing. It's probably one of the best looking breakfast lunch restaurants I've been in across the world. Looks like it came out of France or London. They also have a diverse menu. We also were able to get our vehicle in the parking garage each night of the stay which was very nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would probably never stay anywhere else in Midland. We were there to see Dow gardens and also enjoy river days. Going out on the Tridge is beautiful in the moonlight. We also got to see the hot air balloons lift off which was a real highlight and a great firework show. The only disappointing thing was excessive chlorine smell in the Jacuzzi. But to end on a good note is open 24 seven along with the gymnasium. read more

I enjoyed staying at this hotel very much.  It is as the heart of Midland.  There are many interesting places and venues to visit and explore all within walking distance.  Within a short drive, or just a little longer walk or quick bicycle ride, there are another set of experiences awaiting. The hotel and property are kept impeccably.  It is neat, clean and pleasant.  I felt safe here.  The rooms are spacious and comfortable with good views.  The services in the room are kept up well and the rooms are attractive as well as welcoming. The food is hot, fresh and varied.  Expect fresh fruit, well made breads, cold juices, hot coffee and wonderful meals all around.  The staff is well trained and professional.  I was checked in easily and with professionalism and care.  I felt like I had arrived somewhere and they were glad to see me.  All of the staff was very positive and supportive while I stayed there.   We had a rather large business conference and the lighting, meals, venue and everything about the experience was businesslike but also contained the human touch.  There is art scattered throughout the grounds that is pleasant and stimulating to look at enjoy. I plan on returning with my family to enjoy all that Midland has to offer.  This is due, primarily due to the hotel, which I know I can count on a pleasant center of activity during our stay. read more

My family and I came from out of town for a wedding. We were a little nervous traveling during COVID-19 but everything was very clean and they were doing every safety precaution necessary to keep staff and their customers safe. Anytime we needed anything sent up to the room they were there right away. We were so glad our family in midland recommended this place! We're going to come back anytime we come to midland! Only bad thing I could say is that the bathroom floor is pretty slippery so just be careful when you get out of the shower! But other than that a great experience! This place is absolutely top notch. We've been staying here when visiting family in midland and this hotel is nicer than most of the hotels I've stayed (and I travel quite a bit for work). The decor is spot on, the staff very attentive, the rooms well appointed, and the pool and fitness room state of the art. The location is nestled in the heart of midland with access to the quaint little downtown area. This is definitely a high end boutique hotel at a reasonable price. BEST HOTEL I have ever stayed! The decor of the hotel is very beautiful and inviting. The service at the hotel is amazing. The hotel has an underground parking garage, gym, lap pool, restaurants, office are and a bar. It is located in downtown midland, so all of the shops and restaurants are very close. The standard room is very nice and clean. The room has a desk, TV, iron, blow dryer and suitcase stand. The room we stayed had a beautiful view of the Tridge and running trials. The hotel gave us two wrapped cookies in our room when we arrived. Finally, I can't say enough about the service at The H. Every employee that we met was extremely accommodating and wanted to ensure our stay was perfect. I really could tell that customer service was their most important value. Love the H. Beautiful grounds and I loved their lobby arrangement! We enjoyed eating at Zinc restaurant for breakfast, cappuccino was lovely, hot and got me properly caffeinated so I could be civil. We split bagel fish plate and yogurt&granola; both delicious. I appreciate that they had low flowers on each table which adds such a beautiful touch. Tin vases with short mums brought the season in and were darling and elevate the experience. Servers nice and attentive; makes eating there always on my list when I visit home. Thank you Zinc and H hotel. Bed is comfortable; sheets crisp and luxurious , love that they have down pillow available. The only drawback I see is the doubles rooms are not queens but all in all we love the walkable location downtown and thoroughly enjoy staying at the H. Also appreciate that they provided room services during covid, so you can keep room nice. My son left something behind and they sent it out to him. read more

In town for a family visit and The H Hotel was recommended. Absolutely unbelievable! Meticulously appointed. State of the art technology incorporated (even in the window blinds!). The mirror tv was fun. Comfy bed and wonderful linens. The bathroom is large and has everything you could possibly need in soaps and lotions. Went to the restaurant/bar alone and felt immediately welcomed and served quickly. The fish tacos were perfect! Cannot praise The H Hotel enough!!! Can I give it 6 stars? read more

'Ello chaps! The H Hotel is located in the heart of downtown Midland, Michigan, and boy the outside does not do it justice! Don't let the mental hospital-esque exterior sway you away. The inside of this hotel is an epitome of class and luxury. The hotel has an exterior parking lot and garage parking available for guests. On site work out facility and grand meeting/banquet/wedding space. The rooms are some of the best in this luxury level of hotels. One of the most comfortable beds I've had. The one thing I loved about the room is how they used the space. When you open the door, your eyes are immediately drawn to the large windows where we had a view of the nearby park. There is a couch that lines the wall giving you ample seating space to look outside or simply enjoy time with friends in your room. The only con is the "Smart TV". It was maddeningly slow and dysfunctional. The TV would constantly bug out, freeze and the only way to get the tv channel to change is by simply turning the tv off - which was a process in of itself. read more

This is a stellar spot for a conference. Just a lot of little unexpected bells and whistles that make for an overall awesome impression. For starters, when I arrived in my room there was a little H Hotel branded chocolate on the bed. Just a nice touch. I also really love that they had an extensive charging station at the in-room desk with HDMI ports, extra plugs, Ethernet, USB ports, you name it. Working as a social media manager I typically have to unplug a lamp or two and sometimes the mini fridge to charge all my gadgets and here I was able to plug them all in in one spot. Nifty. Their French restaurant, Cafe Zinc, is a must visit. It's a little spendy, but the food is exceptional. The Acorn Squash salad with farro was one of my favorite recent meals (and I just returned from Italy so I've had some dazzlers recently!) Our conference went off without a hitch, and the event staff there is phenomenal. Downtown Midland has a nice variety of bars, restaurants, and shops that add to the ambiance of the area. And to top it all off, the pool and hot tub are open 24 hours so at the end of a long day at a conference, you still have time to have a relaxing soak. The one missing star in my review is the thinness of the walls. I could vividly hear my neighbors TV running late at night, which made it hard to sleep. read more

If it wasn't for the drive from Midland to Saginaw, I'd stay here every time I visited. Expedia mismanaged TF out of our reservation at another hotel, so we had to grab this one in a pinch, and I was very pleased with it. Highs: - The room was nicely laid out; bench seat next to the window was a nice touch - Power window shades were cool - Very clean room - Great bathroom - Feels more expensive than it is Lows: - They had a bonfire that night, and it inundated most of the hotel with fumes; they got several calls from guests asking if the hotel was on fire - There may be more parking, but the lot we used was a short walk down a slight hill. Just be aware of it. I don't remember noise being an issue, but we were exhausted so it wouldn't have mattered much. We'll definitely stay again soon, it's too nice of a place not to try again, especially considering the other choices in the Tri-City area. read more

H hotel is a very nice hotel. Location, decor, staff, restaurants. It has everything I need in a hotel. Inside is well decorated and very clean. Not sure how old the hotel is but its well maintained. The location is as good as it gets if you must stay in midland. Its directly on the main strip of restaurants and shops and a very short drive to the other main area near the mall and other restaurants. On site restaurants are delicious but EXPENSIVE. (Only reason for not 5 stars) The "cafe" is less cafe like and more full scale restaurant style. Breakfast ran about $25 with tax and tip. They don't have many simple options either like a breakfast sandwich but I asked for one and they made it without hesitation. They have pastries but they are more for dessert than breakfast type pastries. I didn't see muffins or danish for another quick option. The room was small but beautiful. Great use of space. I honestly would like some of the style in my own home. TV mirror, marble bathroom with a cool drain, comfortable bed, nightstands with plugs built in, a desk with extensive adapters, the list goes on. Nice touch with the little chocolate on the bed each day. Staff was always pleasant and offered unsolicited help. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Midland! read more

I only wish I could have stayed in the rooms. Unfortunately, the H was completely booked during my stay in Midland, and I ended up overnight at the Hampton Inn. But I did enjoy the H Hotel's meeting space, Cafe Zinc, and Bar Oxygen. All my interactions with the front desk were excellent. The customer service is top notch, and they gladly comped my garage parking ticket. Next time, I'll be sure to book way in advance! read more

The H is certainly the place to stay if you are in Midland (presumably because you are visiting Dow). Located right on Main Street, you are steps away from the quaint shops and restaurants in Midland, as well as the courthouse, the river, and the Tridge. More importantly, there are good quality eats in the hotel itself. The hotel doesn't seem like much when you drive into the underground lot, but when you walk into the lobby it's sleek, bright white, and cool without being aloof. The hotel pumps in some kind of scent which was a tad bit intoxicating. The scene was somewhat reminiscent of being at a W. Too bad the room decor doesn't replicate the lobby. Instead, the rooms look pretty much like a typical Sheraton or Marriott room - functional, comfortable, yet unremarkable. Fortunately, they are about to undergo room renovations. If they can spruce up the rooms, add in flat screen TVs, update the amazingly plain and not well lit bathrooms, the H could move up to 5-star territory. read more

The H Hotel is likely the best hotel in Midland/Saginaw (I only limit it to this area and not Michigan as a whole because I've only been to Midland/Saginaw). Honestly, it seems like a hotel that belongs in CA. The white, minimalist interior design is really nice, and its facilities are also great. The rooms are decently sized, and are each fitted with a Samsung SmarTV (which is nice, but also really slow). They also provide Fiji water in the rooms (my favourite!!), and they have really soft/fluffy towels. In terms of service, the concierge are all really nice, and they remember repeat customers. :) There are also quite a few bars/restaurants/coffee shops right around the H Hotel, so points for convenience! Overall: 4.5 stars. If I have to be out in the Midland area every week for work, I'm glad I'm staying at the H Hotel. (Only downside is that they aren't an SPG hotel, so I don't get points...) ****Update 04/23/2014**** I booked the junior suite tonight since the deluxe rooms weren't available and it wasn't that much more expensive, and now I want the suite every week! You get twice as much space, and it's even more comfortable than the deluxe room already was! :) Update again! Nick (the nighttime concierge) is AWESOME! The concierge who was here when we first checked in had my coworker pick out a welcome gift (food + drink), so she picked out cookies+milk and a beer and asked to have it delivered at 10:45pm after we finished dinner. Either it came early or just never came, so at 11:30pm we started really craving cookies. Nothing else around was open, and I casually mentioned it when asking Nick if room service was still available...to my incredible surprise he immediately offered to personally bring cookies up to the room! I can easily say that this is the best hotel in the Midland/Tri-City area. The service is amazing (and prompt!) and the adjacent restaurant/cafe has pretty great food. Both the hotel and its restaurants are a rare and luxurious find in the Midland Michigan area. There is even a covered parking garage, which is helpful during the winter when it's snowing. My only small qualm is that the H belongs to the Wyndham Group, which doesn't give quality loyalty points. read more

4.5stars Overall it was perfect and an amazing value for a hotel on the downtown strip. I stayed for one night and booked the Summer Escape on the H Hotel website. When I arrived, I got upgraded to a suite using the Standby program (I arrived late at night so it was clear no one was going to book it). As part of my hotel package, I got a welcome gift (of my choice-fresh baked cookies with chilled milk) delivered to my room while I was out for dinner. The suite had a pretty view of the Tridge. However, there were a few stains on the light carpet and around the room. One was a red spaghetti sauce stain on the carpet, and another was a dark ring near the table. On the overlay for the bed, there were 2 iron stains. These are all things that could have been resolved with a simple inspection of the room. Didn't really affect my stay, but did kill the fancy mood a little. In the morning, breakfast was also included in my summer escape package. I had the option to eat in the cafe downstairs, Cafe Zinc, or get room service. Opted for a patio spot at the cafe. $40 of the meal was comped and all I had to do was tell them my room number. Upon checkout, they removed the charge. Very smooth process. Before leaving, we took advantage of the free (there are 6-8 available) bikes to rent for hotel guests on a first come first serve basis. They aren't the best bikes (maintenance had to come and fix a small issue) but for a ride on the Tridge and through the nearby trails it did the job. The man at the counter (Noah) allowed us to check out an he later than scheduled so we can freshen up after our ride. Recommend this place to anyone looking for a getaway or a plush spot right in the main strip in Midland. read more

It's become a family tradition to stay at the H Hotel over the 4th of July and watch the fireworks. The staff is extremely accommodating and very helpful. For our most recent stay we had 10 adults, 3 kids and 6 rooms. The rooms with the kids got beta fish (all named after different elements) to keep in their rooms for their stay. The rooms are decent sized (some bigger than others) with comfy beds and the standard amenities. Their exercise room is amazing and the pool is nice too. They have bikes you can use for free to tour the area. We have used the single, tandem and group bikes and had loads of fun! If you find a reason to be in Midland I highly recommend this hotel! read more

Okay, the 19" tube TV and lack of room microwave and referigator is a down check, the Kuerig and lovely toiletries was an offset! The bed was absolutely luxurious! Ok, yelp, please allow 1/2 stars. I'm going to flip and start with the negative. The rooms are nice, exceptionally clean, comfortable and the housekeeping staff is exceptional and friendly. Unfortunately, the decor of the rooms... And only the rooms is early to mid 90s. Very nice if it were a Marriott or Sheraton... But it doesn't match the rest of the hotel. I'd give the rooms a 4. The hotel lobby, restaurants, courtyard, bar, business center, registration, service, ambiance, class, marble floors, leather wall coverings.....utter beauty....... I'd give it a 6. Overall average.... 5 stars. Honestly, this would rival the FourSeasons, any Kimpton hotel, Hyatt, Wynn, and maybe the Plaza, but most of those are old money snobbery. If this were in NYC/manhattan, it would go for $600/night, easily. Excellent service. Professional and dedicated staff. Fabulous food (I only at at Cafe Zinc and Oxygen). Gorgeous decor. Exceptionally quiet. Just for the record,I am not affiliated with Dow, but my sister and brother-in-law, who I was visiting, both work for Dow. I did find the hotel on my own and without their endorsement or feedback. Update those rooms. Nothing major, but just freshen them up. Flat screen TVs and some of the good cable channels like HGTV and FoodNetwork. Also, remote printing would be nice and the software application hat only prints boarding passes, versus using Microsoft browser. The location is ideal. Covered parking was great, since we had 10" of snow last week, and it was free! Free and consistent wi-fi. Turndown service every night was excellent along with the next day's weather forecast. Ok, enough....it's a damned good place to stay! Stayed here mid August, 2014. A basketball competition was going on in the streets in front. Had an executive suite. This hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed at. Everything was exceptional. There were a couple of weddings that weekend and the wedding guests were a bit rowdy, but could barely hear them with the doors closed. This was our second time staying here. On our last night of our Michigan adventure, we made our way from TC to Midland to spend it with the in-laws home city of Saginaw. As far as hotels go, this place is pretty awesome! A great location in downtown Midland. There's the tridge (It's like a bridge, but with a third leg, so cool) and the farmer's market right out the "back" which is really the front of the hotel. And the rooms are nice and comfy. Nothing too over the top, but decent Gilcrest and Soames bath amenities. There's a pool a nice exercise room and even a massage therapy room! The hotel has a restaurant and a great coffee shop on street level. It's our go to spot while in the area. Great for business travel too. read more
