It kept the warmness that farmhouses usually have. I ordered the Family Style Chicken Dinner ($21). This has a Choice of Southern or Stewed Chicken with refills on everything! Served with tomato juice or chicken noodle soup, cabbage salad, cottage cheese, vegetables, biscuits, golden chicken gravy, dressing, and real mashed potatoes. I got the Southern Fried Chicken which was good and tender and moist. The seasoning was good and tasty. I might have come in with expectations too high, because I like and enjoyed it but was also disappointed. I've definitely had better chicken, even in Bay City itself. However it was very good value for very tasty chicken. The chicken noodle soup was very good, but the biscuit was dry and not my favorite. The coleslaw was okay, but I'm picky with coleslaw and this one wasn't my favorite. I also didn't like the stuffing and I hate green beans, so no opinion of them. Also not a fan of cottage cheese, so no opinion there either. I hot a slice of apple pie ($6) for dessert. It was a small slice and I wasn't a fan of it. The service overall was good. There were periods where my waitress vanished, but overall it was good. Overall the place was a 3 1/2 star review. Since I have to round I'll round up to 4 stars since the primary item of the chicken itself was good and it's a good value for the meal itself. The value of the dessert was a little high. Would I return? If I was already in the area I would definitely give them a 2nd try.
