Mediocre at best. I am truly disappointed with my recent experience at Mack's. As a vegan I was really excited to try this and bring a friend who is also vegan with me. The vegan menu looks very enticing and seems to be really thought out. Without question we place an order for an appetizer and drinks and ask our server some questions about the menu. He didn't seem too versed on the vegan menu and couldn't answer our questions which led him to the kitchen to ask the chef. Based off his response he still seemed unsure and we really just asked what the vegan burger consisted of. Well, we ordered it anyway (we were starving) and our appetizer came out and a few minutes later, our entree. (We also asked for two sides of fries) The "bacon burger" came out on two pieces of toast..... one piece of bacon and some vegan cheese- no ketchup/sauce etc nor does it say on the menu how the burger is dressed. It was the saddest sandwich I have ever eaten given my friend and I have been vegan over 7 years now and we knew exactly where each item on the burger came from. A silly little veggie pattie, probably morning star or dr.preggers and TOAST. The nerve of them to charge $18 for this, not to mention the fries were $6 extra!!! It was seriously one of the most poorly thought out menu items and because of this, I will not be returning or recommending this place. There is no need to have an entire menu of poorly thought out food items just to cater to vegans. You might as well remove the menu. read more

I asked for my eggs to be scrambled and they screw it up so they brought me the correct ones AND CHRGED ME. Management made the waitress paid for it instead of just taking it out of the bill. It was 3 freaking dollars!!! The food was horrible. They brought out waffles with a little bit of syrup. On top of that they were out of half the menu. I am SHOCKED to come on here and not see a single review from what I witnessed/experienced the Saturday before Mother's Day. When we were seated at our table and started talking we realized that it has been fifteen minutes and no one even came to bring us water or take our drink orders. When a server finally came over, they gave us water and a drink menu and literally never came back. 30 minutes later we kindly walked to the bar to ask our server to order something to drink and the server rudely snapped saying they were busy. We then got a new server to come to our table for our order, they were much more pleasant and apologized on the other servers behalf. As we are waiting for our DRINKS, we notice all of the other tables are looking around, waiting for their drinks, waiting for their food, I witnessed about 3 tables get up and walk out and then about 30 minutes later the server comes to our table to tell us we can't get our drinks because the bartender left. We were in complete shock that we've been there for almost 1.5 hours and still haven't even gotten a drink. The server offered us soda instead of a martini and I declined so they offered mimosas on the house. We chose to accept and wait it out because we were so hungry at this point and just did not want to have to leave and wait at another restaurant. To make matters worse after being told we couldn't have our martinis we saw our previous server making drinks for the table across from us. Our food EVENTUALLY came out after we were there for over 2 hours and it was decent, but even if the food was out of this world, I would never go back. Thank goodness for the second server because they were extremely polite and apologetic but I couldn't even believe I got handed a bill after such an awful experience and being treated so rudely by a server. I asked for Ketel One in my martini and I watched them use Smirnoff. My dirty martini was 50% olive juice and they had to reshake it. It took 15 minutes to get served. All we got was complimentary biscuits during that time (and then owner/ manager tried to bring more over not realizing we already got) no silverware, no water glasses (we had to ask for glasses 3 times), dirty dishes on table. My food came out before my friend's even though we said the app I ordered would be my entree. The place is cute and the food is yummy but their staff is not trained in any area of service. Had lunch here with my friend and we loved it! We went during the week and it wasn't busy, which worked out great for us. My friend brought her baby and the staff was great about accommodating. Our server was super friendly and our orders came out promptly, but most important delicious. I recommend both the chicken sandwich and lemon ricotta pancakes. Went for brunch today. Must say had a very good experience. My wife ordered the steak and fries and liked it very much. I ordered the banana bread French toast because it received good reviews. Instead I got to wait nearly forty minutes before anyone bothered to come over and even take a drink order. To get any help whatsoever I had to flag down a busboy to ask if someone could please take our order and still had to continue to wait before a server finally came. When that eventually happened, we were only told that they thought someone else was helping us without any real apologies being given. When they were finally able to start taking our orders many of the food and drink options listed on the menu were unavailable. Service continued to be slow throughout the rest of our dining experience with our first round of drinks taking another twenty minutes to arrive. When food finally arrived after such a long wait it was truly underwhelming to say the least. My wife and I had breakfast here recently. We had the Mini Biscuits and Gravy, Patty's Platter and the Southern Chicken and Waffles. Everything was great and the even give you Complimentary pastry to start out with. The service was amazing and our waitress was fantastic, she was spot on with her recommendations. The only negative things were the tables for two were a bit small and it was hard fitting the food on it with coffee and water drinks. We had the sweet potato latkes, candied bacon, lemon ricotta toast, garden omelette and the after school special (grilled cheese and tomato soup) The sweet potato latkes were really sweet potato pancakes (mashed sweet potatoes instead of shredded) and arrived hot with accompanying horseradish sour cream and apples. Those were pretty good. The candied bacon tasted ok but was not super hot and some pieces were really cooked through while others were kind of flabby. The garden omelette arrived with potatoes that were room temperature as did the lemon ricotta toast. The lemon ricotta toast was a stand out for originality and taste but seemed oddly paired with the mid temp breakfast potatoes. The one thing everyone seemed to like was the grilled cheese and tomato soup. All in all, it could be a great place but just doesn't hit the mark. read more

We went to Mack's for breakfast today but unfortunately it wasn't a great experience. The food: Great menu, if you have good eyesight. Some of the font (was photocopied) was so tiny we couldn't read it. We ordered the Biscuits and Gravy-1 traditional and 1 Chicken Sausage. Both came out lukewarm at best, my husband sent his back. The gravy was delicious, but I'm not sure if the biscuits were stale or just a strange texture. Biscuits should be fluffy, these were the consistency of a a crispy, heavy sourdough bread. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs with it and I thought the menu said $2.00 extra but when the bill came it was $12.00 extra. There's that unreadable print again. The coffee was very dark, we used up the entire creamer to try and lighten it. No luck. The staff at Mack's was very pleasant, absolutely no complaints there. The decor is really nice and they played awesome music. I hope they take this review to straighten out the menu and improve the quality of the food when it's served. We stopped by today for a quick brunch. Had been thinking of checking Mack's out for a while now. Friendly greeting and led to a small table in the middle of the dining room. The room is nice. Skylights brighten the room. Music was playing so you didn't hear other's conversations. The waitress brought water and creamed-topped biscuits. Brook took our order and returned with coffees. I had the apple cinnamon French toast which was above average. My wife had eggs Benedict with a side of potato croquettes. She enjoyed her meal as well. Brook was attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere was above that of a diner but not exactly fine dining. Another reviewer mentioned a "minimalist" feeling. I agree. Between the metal table and chairs and the modest silverware it's a basic kinda feel. Looking around I think it's fair to say that not two coffee cups are alike and that is kind of cute and homey. My boyfriend and I decided to check out Mack's last weekend since it was brand new. It wasn't too crowded even though it was a Sunday. The dining room in the back is decorated a little weird but gets a lot of sunlight thanks to the skylights which was nice. My boyfriend and I ordered the candied bacon to start and 2 Bellinis. I was a little worried about paying 12 dollars for bacon but the pieces ended up being really big and they even gave us an extra one. It was really tasty. The Bellinis were mostly champagne with a slice of grapefruit in it. We definitely weren't complaining. For our main dishes we got the avocado and lox toast and the avocado and lox benedict. We have pretty similar tastes. We both really enjoyed the food. The avocado toast is 2 really huge slices of bread that are toasted to perfection with a very generous amount of smoked salmon. I could only eat one before I was full so I took the other piece to go. My boyfriend also really enjoyed the eggs benedict. While we really enjoyed the food, the service could definitely be improved on. Our server wasn't necessarily rude but she didn't introduce herself or say hello. And it wasn't busy enough where she was in too much of a rush to. When she would come to take our orders she would just stand there and not say anything. The reason I'm leaving this review today is because I enjoyed the food so much I actually called today because I wanted to order takeout. But the hostess informed me that they don't offer takeout. Considering they gave me a to go box at the end of our meal last weekend I don't understand why they wouldn't do it. Restaurants that have similar menus and setups offer the option to order online. Went for late breakfast on a Saturday afternoon. Hostess offered complimentary cookies upon arrival. Sadly they were stale. We were then promptly seated in back room which is bright and airy. Manager and server very attentive. Nice menu. Ordered Eggs Benedict which came over a bisquit with breakfast potatoes & carrots, sauce on side. This was not good to me. The minute I tasted bisquit it was strange, heavy and odd tasting. Same with sauce. Potatoes were ok but heavily salted. My BF got the egg platter with corned beef which he enjoyed.
