Siren beer and classic fish.

Lot of poor reviews on this place and I don't get why. Beautiful lighthouse off the patio, TVs everywhere, the fish was amazing. 4 stars because the service was slow but as long as you're not in a rush, great vibes. Will be back

Lobster Mac & Cheese

The lobster Mac & cheese is delicious! And there are great gifts in the gift shop on the way out

Thin slice of turkey with cold cheese. The bacon taken from the cold fridge still has white grease on it no attempt to warm up.

Wife, I and family have been coming to the Mackinac Grill for 26 years. We did multiple stops with our kids, in-laws through out those 26 years and we always enjoyed the salad bar located in the train but the salad bar is no longer now it's a souvenir shop. The special is what I ordered on this stop it was a turkey bacon croissant for $13.95. The turkey was from a store bought package it was one very thin piece it didn't even fill the croissant, the cold Swiss cheese was thicker than the one slice of turkey and the bacon was one slice broke into two pieces pulled from the cold fridge and put on the croissant, the bacon had cold white grease on it. Horrible, I'd think the cook would be embarrassed to send something out of the kitchen to be served like this but that wasn't the case today. I did send back they did replace but it was just ok, at least it was warm the second go around. Wife order a whitefish hoagie for $18.95 it was one small slice of fish on each bun no cheese, no coleslaw an absolutely horrible display of what their so called whitefish hoagie is. Although we will miss Ronnie who is a server and a staple at the Grille wife and I have decided there are too many other places to eat at in St. Ignace so that will definitely be our last time visiting the Mackinac Grille.

Service was good at this restaurant but all of the food was very greasy. It's hard to screw up a grilled cheese but all the ingredients seemed low quality. It is still very busy due to the location but I would avoid it if you can.

Warm mackinaw breeze

We went here on a Sunday evening and were happy to see all the cars in the lot. Unfortunately it must have been because they were one of the few restaurants open. Smoked whitefish dip (out). Deep fried dill pickles for an appetizer were average. Deep fried white fish were overcooked with the smallest baked potato ever. Lobster was still frozen in the Mac and cheese. Mackinaw breeze drinks were warm. "Caribbean slow" service. The best things were the garlic bread and the view from the patio. I was able to finish most of the fish. We tried warming up the lobster Mac later in the microwave. That was unsuccessful and in the trash it went. I definitely would find another place for dinner or even drinks.

Great food. Good service. Reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere, including waterfront dining. My dining partner and I both had the whitefish chowder. I had the grilled shrimp with butter and garlic, steak fries, and coleslaw. My dining partner had a beef pastie with gravy that was a huge portion. She took care of it to go and had it the next day.

He even wished my mom a happy Mother's Day before taking our order, which was a nice touch. We started with the Street Corn Nachos as an appetizer, then ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich, both with fries on the side (an additional $4 each). This was an excellent place to bring my mom since she's vegetarian, and the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian-friendly options. The food was excellent, especially the nachos -- the queso was amazing. The restaurant also gives you a lot of customization options, like swapping chips for fries for an extra $4 or adding protein to the nachos for an additional charge. That said, while the nachos were really good, they were still $18 without any protein, which honestly felt overpriced for chips, cheese, and vegetables. We came during lunch service, and overall the food, service, and view made for a great experience. However, it is definitely on the expensive side. Most entrees seemed to range from around $20-30. Still, if you're willing to spend a little more for quality food, generous portions, and a great atmosphere, it's definitely worth visiting.

Millie's is one of those restaurants that has something for everyone, and will appease everyone,…read morebut to be honest, I forgot what we ordered and ate as soon as we left. I had to look at my photos in order to remember our meal. That's not to say it was bad. Not at all! Just that the only thing I remember is that the prices are slightly higher than I think they should be. (Although, that seems to be the case at every restaurant on Mackinac Island. They have you trapped, and they know it.) We started with the smoked whitefish dip, which is a popular thing in this part of Michigan. It came piping hot with melted cheese on it, and served with crispy pita chips and crostini. I'm glad I tried it! I love me a good meatloaf sandwich, so when I saw meatloaf sliders in the menu, I had to get them. These sliders are made with pretzel buns, which are not my favorite because I feel like they're never soft enough. A nice white bun would have been so much better. I got a side Caesar salad, and it was fine. We also ordered a chicken tenders basket, the Low Carb Platter (just a cheeseburger without a bun and a side of cottage cheese), and a kids' cheeseburger. They do have a kids menu here -- just ask. Millie's gets very busy! We had to wait almost 30 minutes for a table. But it's centrally located in the middle of downtown Mackinac, so I wouldn't expect anything less.

We checked out Millie's on Main for lunch at the recommendation of a staff member (and year-round…read moreresident) at Hotel Iroquois. A great spot, located right where visitors board for the public carriage tours! We stopped in around 12pm and by the time we left, every table was filled. Our party enjoyed a beautiful kale salmon salad, delicious and slightly spicy whitefish tacos with mango salsa, and a pasty with coleslaw and gravy. If I were to go there again, I would definitely get the pasty, hands down.

Drinks and dessert was the main focus for a visit to Seabiscuit Cafe. Did I procure any real food…read moreat this horse-themed restaurant? Neigh! But they had what I wanted: sugar and alky hall. I just wanted a little (big) glass of red wine and something sweet to cap off the night, and I left satisfied. Key lime pie was the special dessert of the day, so that's what I got. I can't pass up a special dessert that's here today, but might be gone tomorrow. The kitchen didn't just give me a slice of pie: They dusted my plate with powdered sugar in the shape of a horse! It's these little touches that make all the difference, and you can tell that they're not horsing around here. (Or maybe they are?) My glass of Cabernet was great, and I was told that the beer was great, too. They were very busy, considering it was the end of the season. Nevertheless, we got a seat right away, and the service was great. If you visit Seabiscuit Cafe during the evening, you'll see that it's a cozy little spot with dim lighting, where you can relax and have a meal (or just drinks and dessert, like me).

The Backyard is the casual cafe located on the back lawn of the Stonecliffe Inn on Mackinac Island…read more It is open to non-guests of Stonecliffe, and offers a menu of lighter fare with unique flourishes. The strongest asset of The Backyard is the setting. Quite simply said, the view is stunning. From our seats, we could see Lake Huron, the Mackinaw Bridge, and the sunset. Across the spacious back lawn were fire pits, circles of Adirondack chairs, fountains, and walking paths. The temperature was about 68 degrees with low humidity and few bugs and was absolutely perfect. I ordered a brisket and carmelized onion pizza for $24. While I originally thought the price was a bit steep, I changed my mind on this after it was delivered to my table. The pizza was loaded with chucks of smoked brisket, carmelized onions, and smoky gouda cheese. The flavors blended with each other into a complex masterpiece of sweet, smoky, and slightly sour flavors. I would estimate that the pizza was about 14" and provided 2 meals for me. My mother order the smoked pork taco (which actually was 3 tacos) for $16. The tacos were loaded with shredded smoked pork, pickled onions, and a spicy salsa. We finished up the meal with a couple of beers while we watched the sunset. Our server, Morgan, added to the overall experience. She was hustling from table to table, but never rushed us, and paused to have a nice conversation with us. Overall, a good value given the beautiful setting and high quality dishes.
