THIS place is Ridiculous!!! I called Apple to schedule an appointment for a screen replacement, hopefully getting into the Genius Bar at the Galleria Mall, they did not have any available times for today. Apple suggested MacHeadQuaters, I accepted.. what a mistake. My appointment was for 1:00, I arrive on time, only to be told to leave my phone and it would be available to pick up at 6:00! 5 hours to put a screen on??? Seriously?? It takes like 15 min to do so.. if they are going to accept AppleCare and payment to work on Apple products they should provide the service in a timely matter, as a customer and Apple would expect. If my appointment is at 1:00, then work on my phone at 1:00, not when you can get to it! Plus the place smells like mold.. so beware if considering this joint. read more

Previously I brought in my MacBook to recover the data. They don't have the capability to do it, so an employee recommends I buy a separate attachment to do it myself. So I do. A week later I bring in an iPad because it won't turn on. I also bring the MacBook for convenience because I don't have the tools to get the hard drive out to recover the data. The employee helping me asks an employee or manager named Dave if he can grab a screwdriver. Dave says "why don't you go buy your own tools since you're going to do it yourself instead of using the tools we pay for" across the room in front of other customers. Wait, isn't this why people come here? To NOT do it themselves? As if taking a minute to use a screwdriver was a huge inconvenience to them. I was already a paying customer with the iPad and they're the ones who recommended I do the data recovery myself anyways. Sure, I'll go buy a screwdriver set just to use once, just like the other attachment they told me to buy. Completely unnecessary response. read more

Two days into my stay at St. Louis., my computer gave out. I had a couple freelance projects with very fast turnarounds. I thought I was doomed and feared I truly had a dead computer on my hands. I have been going to MacHeadQuarters for about 7 years. They have been consistently good with service, willing to help, going the extra mile. The sales guys (and they're all guys...?) are very pleasant and courteous. Whenever they can they'll do the 'tech' work I need, saving me lots of frustration and anxiety. I'm a big fan. read more

I called them to replace a hard drive for an 27" iMac. During the conversation, they told me that I would need to purchase a bracket to mount my drive in prior to coming in because they didn't carry the bracket. So, I purchased the bracket and drive online. Then went into the store to have the work done. I was turned away because they wouldn't install the drive I purchased. I was told they won't warranty the work if they didn't sell me the drive. I told them I didn't care about the warranty. They said they still wouldn't do it. I was completely misled and will never go back. read more

Dropped off a MacBook Air for evaluation on them buying it. Initially low balled by them for $225.00 they would give me on a 3 year old fully working MacBook Air. I did not bring the charger with me initially so after the low ball quote I picked up my computer and left. Pretty shocked they would offer such a low ball quote. I returned a week or so later and gave them the same laptop and now the original box and working charger. Took them about another week to reevaluate something they just did a week prior. They now offered me $325.00 which I agreed. My biggest complaint is they are slow to follow up with payment. Apparently its a old process of them sending my offer to the book keeper at another location and then she has to process it and then takes her sweet time sending out a check. I called multiple times expressing my frustration with them why was it taking so long for my payment to be sent to me. Every time I called I would get another person who would have to go investigate where the computer was, was it evaluated, and then finally giving me some drawn out process that the trade in value was sent over to the off site book keeper and was waiting on her. I finally told them I wanted to talk to the manager or owner who was never available and either get me my payment asap or return my MacBook. Its the most ridiculous antiquated 1920's process they put the customer through. I am very disappointed in all the nonsense and finally got my payment after a nice guy went to who ever and had my payment check ready when I told them I was coming in. I will say this as a avid Mac user I will shop else where next time. They need to step it up bad and if they don't they will loose a lot of customers. read more

First time there and it was a great experience. I came in for a cracked screen and they ran a diagnostic to make sure everything else was good to go as well, estimated a 2 hour time span & was done fixing the screen within 1. Very impressed and I will go there from now on with ANY issues I have on my Apple products! read more

First of all, I never thought I would encounter being treated like this after dealing with Best Buy. To make a long story short, I thought the first repair at MacHQ solved the problem. Totally wrong! The problem continued after I reinstalled the OS. So, this time I took it back there & got a snooty attitude. I felt like I was being treated as some basic (just know how to turn on the computer) computer person. They tried to replicate the problem & couldn't do so. I was lied to about what they replaced on the first repair & only found out the truth on the second visit. I also should have read what they really replaced on the paper ticket that they gave me. I had to get back the laptop from them since I traveling soon & I was getting annoyed. When I went to get my laptop back from them, again snooty attitude. After all this trouble, I called the Apple Experts & had the problem finally resolved. Now, that's what I call service! read more

I brought my macbook pro to mac hq after spilling coffee on it- it wasn't much but enough to keep it from powering up. The associate asked what was wrong, so I explained. He said there was no way it could be fixed- absolutely no way. He said that to have them take the back off and look would cost $150(!) but said that would be a lost cause, waste of money etc. He then went in back to get a second opinion from the techs in the back room. He came back out with confirmation from them that, yes, my macbook is totaled and they've been repairing apples since 1986 blah blah blah. This was of course a prelude to sell me a new macbook pro. I told him I would let it sit for another 24 hrs and then come back. From there I went to the Apple store in the Galleria, explained problem to associate who promptly took it in back. She reappeared five minutes later with fully functioning macbook- said she simply reset the power settings. I thanked her profusely and asked what I owed- she looked at me quizzically and said 'I didn't have to do anything, no charge". My faith in humanity was restored, but I'm still shocked that a business that, to remain viable, would have to REALLY excel in customer service would employ such predatory and deceptive tactics read more

My hard drive went bad and the geniuses at Apple store told me they could not recover anything. I took the drive here and Tim, within minutes, was able to recapture all items ....and save the day. They were honest and very reasonable. It cost me a total of 150 dollars to have them recover and reestablish on a new drin 750 Gigs of data. Outstanding people. If your Mac breaks don't go to the uppity Apple Store , these guys can fix it less expensively, better and without the condescending attitude. read more

Even though I still had 10 days of AppleCare, I went to MacHQ. Brian immediately understood my problem, answered my questions in understandable language and then solved my problem! Good as it gets for the price. Apple warranty gone, here are a few wizards that worked in the rear of the Apple store that fix you Mac at a reasonable price. Used them three times, every time a success and a low price. I don't use their lease program, though it is probably a money saver, always liked owning versus leasing (like my cars). read more

I wouldn't trust this place, save yourself time and money and just go to the apple store. They gave me the run around and claimed they couldn't order the part to fix my machine after I already payed for the "diagnostic test" and they had possession of my computer for 5 days. However, when I reminded the guy working there that the day I dropped it off a different employee verified with someone in the back that they did have the part in stock, his tune quickly changed. About an hour later I got a call back and magically my machine was fixed. When I showed up they attempted to charge me over $80 when I was quoted $30, again I reminded the employee that I was told $30 and he went in the back and printed a new invoice, claiming someone else didn't itemize my receipt properly. Overall it just seems that there is little to no communication between the employees that work here. If I would have went to the apple store I could have solved my problem in one day and saved money. read more

I scheduled an appointment through Apple Genius Bar to get an iPhone 6s battery replaced under warranty. I made a specific note about my need when I made the appointment, and even called MacHQ the day of the appointment to confirm that they can indeed replace the battery. Made it to my appointment, gave them my phone, and 5 minutes later the young man behind the counter, Jesse, said, "You will need to come back tomorrow to have the battery replaced under warranty." I was so upset by his comment, but responded and told him that of course I know that the battery needs to be replaced, I had noted that, and I had called to confirm. The response of, "Well, did they tell you on the phone that we could replace it today or just replace it in general?" was too much. Unfortunately, I was really in a bind and am traveling for business, so I had no other choice but to come back the next day to get my battery replaced. Throughout the entire exchange, not once did Jesse respond by saying he was sorry for the inconvenience or misunderstanding or offer any other type of apology. I did return today to get the battery replaced and things went smooth enough. Nonetheless, I won't be back. I'll stick to the Apple Store from now on. read more

I bought my first Mac here & found them SO much more helpful than any other place, esp. in terms of helping me select what would work best for my work, and answering questions with Actual Helpful Information (vs sales blurbs). This time, after having weeks of increasingly weird on- and off-line malfunctions with my iMac, I took it in for testing (after having it work FINE at a friend's house, just not at mine; and after at&t visits to test their line). It tested fine, but returned to weirdness on returning home. Suspecting demonic possession or a personal electrical field, I called to schedule a home visit/exorcism. Brian walked me through some settings & recognized a glitch peculiar to my OSX version + Uverse; one setting change and THE DEMONS ARE GONE! Since I'm allergic to the rarified air of The Computer Store, I'm very glad to have an approachable alternative. read more
