Our daughter is in college and her laptop has been just fine for these past two years... until a couple weeks ago when the hinge broke... So we needed to find a replacement, which took us to Micro Center. They have quite a selection of laptops (granted, as do other stores). We visited on a nice and sunny Sunday afternoon our daughter's soccer game and some outside activity for me... so we needed a laptop and lunch. While other stores have laptops and other devices, Micro Center has John S. and other great team members to help you. John was very supportive, never pushy, quick to answer questions and very willing to not search for what we were looking for and provide us options. THAT is INCREDIBLY BENEFICIAL - some times you just need someone to help you get to what you are looking for, to weed through the many options and find just what you need. John S. provides that service for us. Separately from us appreciating the service, at least for our daughter's laptop, Micro Center's prices beat the competition. In addition, their warranty program will replace a broken device; had we had it, the broken hinge would have been covered. Went in for a laptop check and came out with a service plan, a fixed laptop, and a new laptop. They are that good. Service was top notch. Garret was behind the service counter, helped and went over so many things! All of our interactions with the service techs, the guy who showed us laptop options, the checkout cashier, everyone. We were there for a while and by the time everything was said and done it was 15 minutes past closing. We felt so bad, didn't expect to be there that long, but they were so great. The store has so much stuff! Something for everyone if it has to do with electronics. And even though it's the parking lot from heck, it is in the far back corner away from most of the chaos. read more

A huge store if you absolutely need something right now and can't wait until it's shipped to you by one of the dot coms. Last week, I did some tidying in the Sprinter van and somehow I managed to remove one of the power cords I need. So I popped in to Micro Center to see if they had it. A friendly floor clerk saw me looking around and asked if I needed some help. I let him know what I needed and he sent me to the correct aisle. Yes, that was the right one and I did see what I needed but they're TWICE the price of the ones I can order online and have delivered tomorrow. Micro Center is hands down my favorite store. I love that they have everything I need. The staff is always super knowledgeable and helpful.

Phil N was such a great salesman and helpful person. We came in looking at computers for my husband and he went over various computers and really listen to what my husband needed to find the computer that was best for him. I highly recommend him, and when we are ready, we will be coming back to purchase from him. He showed us all varieties of laptops and computers in our price range, and even some more to give us a better understanding of what we get for our money. I wanted to say a special thank you to Matt A at the Brentwood location in Saint Louis, MO. incompetent technical support team that will damage your equipment. We brought in a Mac under applecare warranty that had been kernel panicking, the logs indicate this is a hardware issue with the graphics card. While we absolutely could replace or upgrade this ourselves, warranty means this should be taken care of for us. Their Apple 'tech' Thomas ran 'extensive tests' (it had been less than 24 hours since we brought it in) and said he didn't find any issues. He said it was a software issue, which is NOT possible as the OS had been reinstalled multiple times, and recently by Apple themselves. the kernel panic specifically points to a hardware issue. When you are incapable of finding the root cause of an issue, do not lie to your customer. I understand you can only replace hardware if you see it has failed tests, however GPU's don't give a pass or fail in testing, they should be stress tested for multiple days (not just a few hours) to try and reproduce the issue. And asking if we'd like to pay $100 for you to reinstall the OS? seriously... CMD - R will do this for you and is built into macs. Nice try selling us something that would never have fixed the issue though. Don't support Macs if you don't have suitable staff for it. On top of all this, when we went to go pick up the Mac Pro it had been damaged - deep scratches on the side after their employee put it on its side and dragged it while trying to find the serial number. Just an all around inexcusably bad experience. read more

When I went in for my appointment, the young man said oh our Apple guy didn't show up today and we don't really do this, I stated it says it on your website and I don't know anything about that. I went in to see if I could get some help with a school project. I went to the knowledge desk, was told they couldn't help. I'm assuming because my project seemed too complicated, which was fine. However, when I attempted to ask if they knew where I could find a specific item, they interrupted me multiple times to tell me they don't do that there. Find items in their own store? He told me to find an associate so I went to the back of the store, where the guy was helping someone find something on his computer but when I asked, "Nope! Nope. We don't have those. Nope." Again, I was interrupted. I found the items I was looking for but, unfortunately, they didn't have the specific one I needed, which is fair. They wouldn't have known that based on the nothing I was able to say. I didn't enjoy my experience. I just needed some help and, to be honest, a little kindness today. beware. They lie about the quantity of items they actually have available in the store. I ordered two drive connectors and put them in my "list" so I could look at them and make sure they were correct before I purchased them. Online it said they had two available. I selected those two, added them to my online cart. About an hour later I got to the store and was led on a wild goose chase by employees who couldn't find my items and apparently lied to me and said they were not in stock. I p ulled out my phone, loaded up my list and showed them that two were listed as still being available. I couldn't find them and merely needed to be shown where they were. Lexi is a g! We came in looking for an Xbox series S and came out with the X!!!!! Unbelievably hard to come by and we got here right here. My boyfriend and I were wondering around the store looking for that and printer ink. When I found the ink, she approached us. The store had just opened and there were about 20 people waiting outside to get in. She asked us if we needed any help, she took out a device to check, and came back about 5 minutes later with the X instead of the S. It wasn't what we were looking for because of the supply chain issues and jacked up prices, but we couldn't say no. She also helped confirm that the ink was the right one for our printer. 10/10 would recommend!!! read more

I ran into Micro Center to replace two CPUs at work on a Saturday evening. I was in a hurry and I wanted to be finished and of course I wanted them there on Monday morning. I had already been to an Office store and their selection was abysmal. When I walked in one of the salesmen made eye contact. I said can you please show me your most inexpensive computer with 16GB of RAM? He did and about ten seconds later I said I'll take 2 please. I think he was excited it was that easy. The most treacherous part of the experience was waiting in line to pay and then schlepping these out to my car on my own. I got it done but $1400+ later it would have been nice if the cart wasn't rolling away while I was trying to heave them into the car at just the right angle to fit under my soft top. I hope to not have to go back but if I have to I would. read more

He helped to find my rebate amount, refunded it to my card (kudos for this btw), and also offered to personally escort me through store when I came back in the future. I took my computer in for some diagnostics after getting a few blue screens. I made an appointment online via their website but still had to wait in line when I arrived with people who did not have appointments. I found this pretty annoying as I had meetings later in the day to attend. Basically don't bother making an appointment I guess? They should just get rid of this feature. Try to go when they aren't busy because the lines were pretty long. It took 30 mins to be seen (20 mins after my appointment time). It's just first come first serve. The rest was a great experience once I reached the desk. The staff member who helped me was absolutely wonderful, ran quick diagnostics on my laptop and talked me through possible fixes. This initial assessment was free, which I appreciated. He talked me through my options and I didn't feel like he was just trying to charge me. He was very honest and straightforward. I was worried they would try to get me to spend a bunch of money (kind of "woman at a mechanic" vibe) but it wasn't like that at all. He didn't rush my questions either. Wonderful experience, minus the long-ish wait time given that I had an appointment. Would be a 5 star review if I could've been seen at appointment time. read more

This is definitely my favorite brick and mortar computer store. While I was building my most recent gaming PC, I decided I wanted to support my local Micro Center and purchase all the parts locally instead of ordering from the online retailers. I thought this was going to be a little more expensive, but that wasn't the case. Micro Center either had the same prices, or the prices were even a little lower! I was able to easily find all the hardware that I spec'd out. I did have a few questions, and it was really helpful going in and asking the employees. The employees were really knowledgeable and provided good suggestions. I was able to ask them very specific questions like, "I'm trying to decide between the B450 or the B550 chipset," and they immediately knew what I was talking about. Another plus in buying locally was the ability to make exchanges right away, no more shipping your part(s) back. I had some faulty memory in my most recent build, and I was able to go to the store the next day to get the memory exchanged immediately. This would have taken at least a week if I had ordered my parts online. Also with Covid, Micro Center has been doing the good job with sanitizing the carts and asking customers entering to use hand sanitizer. Masks are required to enter. Here are a few tips if you are going to Micro Center: - Get there early, as soon as they open if you can. The parking lot gets full really quick, and if you have questions it gets pretty busy around noon so it may be hard to find an employee to help you. - Don't be afraid of a the long line. On one of my visits, the line was almost to the build a PC station in the back. The line moved really fast though, I was probably at a register in about 15 mins. I'm so glad there is a Micro Center close by. I'll definitely be back and would highly recommend this store for anything technology related. read more

Newegg has been sketchy since they got bought out. MicroCenter is as solid as ever. Make sure you watch the cashiers like a hawk if you're purchasing anything with a serial number, they scanned the wrong one when I purchased a GPU years ago and caused all sorts of issues for their silly trade-in program. The employees ended up treating me like I was the one who made the mistake instead of the store employee.
