Friday Got a "cooling fan not working " warning on my HP laptop ...tried cleaning it with condensed air...still nothing...had an out of town conference on the following Monday...after looking at reviews I called and spoke with Jim...he said not to worry..get it in before I go to lunch..if we have to replace the fan he may be able to get it in by Saturday...if not would sr me up with a loaner laptop...Jim called just a few hours later to say it was just a piece of plastic that had broken off and jammed the blades...he cleaned it and had it back working for me...Charge was $75...I appreciate the ethical practices from this shop. It is not possible these days to be part of the modern world without a computer. Unfortunately, they are complicated and the "computer world" changes constantly. There is lots and lots of room for really crappy service when you consider how often the customer just barely understands what s/he is dealing with. Jim Humphrey at Dimension is a local small business person who knows what he is doing, cares about his customers' needs and experiences and has the patience of a saint. He pays attention and works diligently to give his customers what they need and want - not what he thinks they ought to want! He will advise honestly, but he never sneers or dismisses your particular needs or preferences. We've been Dimension customers for a long time - at least 15 years! Jim has fixed computers for us, answered many questions and has supplied our computer needs many times. If you have a computer that needs repair, refurbishment or replacement you cannot do better than Dimension. You'll get personal service and it will be FAST, responsive, honest and the price will be fair. You will deal with him and he will know who you are and return your calls. This is not an unknown person at a big box store who may not be available if you have a concern. This is an expert and a craftsman and an honest businessman. I just replaced a PC (that I bought from Jim several years ago) that had lived a long, full life but whose OS couldn't be further upgraded. As soon as I realized I needed help - and knew I needed a new PC - I called Jim. He called back within an hour and asked us to bring in the machine. Less than 24 hours later, he had set up my new PC, transferred everything he could, worked with me throughout the morning to get some things configured to suit my needs. He got everything installed, started and working and told me to call if I had any issues. The price was so reasonable I felt a bit guilty! I brought it home, plugged in what needed plugging in, turned it on and it was ready to go - in less than 24 hours. I can't recommend him enough. read more

First interaction was a little shady, dropped off a computer worth around $1000 and didn't have to sign or pay anything upfront. The owner asked for just my name and phone number. But after this he did a very good job and even took apart the computer a couple times to figure out what was wrong with it. The total came out to $300 but that was only because one of the parts was completely broken and had to be replaced. If you are having problems with your computer this is the place to go, but maybe ask how much it will be before you leave if you drop anything off. read more

My computer was dead. A Windows update killed it. A chain store that offers computer repair couldn't get it to even turn on. Expecting the worse, I called around hoping that I would be able to, at least, salvage the data from my computer. Dimension Computer was recommended and so I contacted them. I took my computer in and less than 24 hours got a call back that my computer was fixed and back to normal! To say that I was ecstatic and impressed would be an understatement. Jim was great to work with when my 8 year old Dell was having issues. He recovered data, installed a new hard drive, and updated software to where its now better than new. Jim also answered my calls after the fact for help in a few new items. He did all this for a very reasonable fee. I had a laptop with a broken keyboard that I no longer needed. I called several different computer repair shops in St. Louis to see if I could sell it and someone referred me to Jim at Dimension Computer. Jim and his technician helped me very promptly and gave me an honest assessment of the value of my laptop and gave me a fair offer for it, which I gladly accepted. I'm so happy that he was able to get the laptop off of my hands and give it a new life for someone else to enjoy. While I was at his shop, I also saw him patiently help troubleshoot another customer's laptop that had an issue with the mailing server and another client who had a question over the phone. Jim was very professional and knowledgable in his interactions with everyone and I highly recommend him to everyone. TLDR: 10/10 would come again, highly recommend to anyone who needs help with his/her computer and/or wants to buy a computer. read more

Stole my computer. Tried to pick it up after spending a few months taking care of my mom in hospice. They said, why would somebody want something so out-of-date. They said they scrapped it along with my backup drive, monitor, and all other cables and peripherals. Very upset. There went around 30 years of history since they also stole my backup drive. Sigh... I took my computer to this shop. I was having a problem with my pc being able to charge up. The owner is honest, he told me several options some of which would cost me nothing to repair. I got my computer back, in a week. The work on it was at best okay. The replacement cord keeps falling out. My pc use to run on battery power for two hours, now it is maybe forty minutes. I called the owner twice, no response. I wish I could speak to him to see if he will fix the problem he caused. read more

Jim at Dimension took care of my problematic Lenovo and my son's gamer laptop. He was fast, courteous and honest. He gave me a play-by-play of the progress and strategies he was using to solve the BIOS errors in my Lenovo, and the rattling/overheating fan in my son's gamer.
