I originally took my phone to the uBreakiFix store in Redlands in May 2026 to have the glass/screen…read morereplaced. At that time, I also informed the staff that the battery needed to be replaced, and the battery was subsequently serviced. In early August 2026, I unfortunately broke the screen again. Because I had a doctor's appointment nearby, I took the phone to the uBreakiFix location in Rialto. After inspecting the phone, the staff there informed me that the phone was not repairable because there was old corrosion inside the device. I was specifically told that, when the battery was previously replaced, the phone had not been properly sealed afterward, which allowed moisture to enter the device and resulted in the corrosion. I explained to the Rialto employee that the previous battery repair had been performed at the Redlands location. The employee recommended that I return to the Redlands store and explain the situation to them. When I went back to the Redlands location, I was initially greeted politely. However, as soon as I explained what had happened and what the Rialto location had told me, the interaction changed completely. In front of another customer, a shorter male employee began yelling at me and immediately insisted that the problem was not their fault. He accused me of having dropped the phone in water. I explained that I do not carry or use my phone around water and that I had no reason to believe the phone had been exposed to water. He then stated that someone must have spilled something on it without my knowledge. Rather than attempting to investigate the issue, he continued to dismiss responsibility. I was then told that I could speak with the manager, who would supposedly be back in approximately ten minutes. I agreed to wait. After waiting the ten minutes, the same employee came back out from behind the glass wall and informed me that the manager would actually not be back for another 45 minutes. Throughout this interaction, I specifically and repeatedly asked the employee to contact the Rialto location to verify what their technicians had told me regarding the corrosion and improper sealing of the phone. On numerous occasions, he refused to call the Rialto store. I find this particularly concerning. If the Redlands location believed that the Rialto technician's assessment was incorrect, there should have been no reason to refuse to contact the Rialto store and verify the information. Instead, I was met with accusations and an unwillingness to investigate the situation. My concern is that the phone was not properly sealed when the battery was replaced at the Redlands location in May 2026. The subsequent corrosion identified by the Rialto location may have resulted from that improper sealing. I am not making this allegation without basis; it is based on the information provided to me by the Rialto technician after examining the device. I am extremely disappointed with both the quality of the original repair and the way my concerns were handled when I returned to the Redlands location. I believe the matter should be properly investigated, including communication between the Redlands and Rialto locations, rather than simply being dismissed by an employee who refused to verify the information. I am requesting that management review the repair performed in May 2026, determine whether the phone was properly sealed following the battery replacement, and address the manner in which my complaint was handled at the Redlands location.
