Terrible experience having dinner here tonight. We were seated right away, but server took over 15 minutes to take drink order and another 10 to bring them out. Not sure why we even stuck around at that point. Food was okay at best when it showed up nearly an hour later. Server was nice and apologized for the delays but the restaurant was half empty when we were there so who knows how it would be when they weren't packed. Prices are ridiculous, $14 for a small salad and soup. Salad obviously right out of a bag. $15 for a wrap and a small pile of frozen fries. Will not return. read more

We have been customers here for years but haven't been for a while. Not the MacGregor's we remember. We ordered soup and an appetizer which took forever to come out and both were cold. The bar tender on the deck by her own admission was tried and her lack of attention proved it. We ordered a burger and the shrimp po boy sandwich and again both were cold and my husband had about 10 French fries on his plate. At this point we just wanted to finish eating and pay our check. There are just too many other places to eat in Havre de Grace to go back there. So Sad! read more

I heard that this restaurant had improved and had gotten a new chef. However, yesterday I ordered a special salad that was over priced and the lettuce was slimy. My husband ordered the rock fish and chips and the inside of the dough on the fish wasn't cooked all the way. we told the staff and they remove the charges for the fish and chips in the salad from the bill. Sat on the deck and took about 15 minutes for someone that wasn't our waiter to ask if we wanted drinks. The waiter came over, took our food order and then eventually came back with drinks. We got fish dishes and when they came out, we didn't have silverware. Waiter said he'd be right back with it. We sat there for 10 minutes with our fish getting cold before I got up and got silverware off a table, reserved for someone else. The waiter was friendly but super inattentive. The rockfish was super bland but the stuffed flounder was really good. I did enjoy it. I asked for a drink refill when the food got to the table and that came out when I was done eating. The waiter never stopped back after dropping off food to check on us, see if we needed anything, nothing. I asked the waiter for the check which he promptly brought and promptly returned for. Getting the bill settled was the fastest thing about the service tonight. With other places nearby to try, I doubt I'll go back to MacGregor's again. read more

We celebrated my Husband's 50th birthday at MacGregors last Saturday and rented the private banquet room and buffet for a party of 20. The banquet room was perfect for us! Located on the top floor of the restaurant, you have a wonderful view of the Susquehanna River with your own private deck. Well appointed and tastefully decorated room with private bar and bathrooms. We chose the buffet option ...beef burgundy and chicken cordon bleu as our two entrees. The food was reasonably priced and delicious! The service is what earned the 5 stars. From the first call to the restaurant to the very end of the party, MacGregors staff were very responsive and made sure every need was met with a smile!! Thank you Nancy and Thomas!! Asked for a table for 2, got a wobbly table for four. Ran out of the spring roll appetizer by 6:00pm, then my 2nd choice, and then had to settle for mussels. Some of the mussels didn't open and should never have been served. Had to get up and look for the waitress. Got 3 little rolls in an oversized basket. Waited over an hour for the main course. Mashed potatoes were cold. Basically the entire experience was a disaster. read more

We've been coming here for years. Valentine's; Date nights; Sunday brunches; my wife's 40th birthday party with 50+ people; Easter; (previous) Mother's Day, and now this past Mother's Day, (2023). Rest assured; this was the last time that we will step foot in this restaurant. From the time our party of 12 sat down until the time the food arrived was 1 hour and 10 minutes and we ordered pretty quickly. This was by no means the waiter's fault. He kept apologizing for how long the food was taking and kept coming back with drink and bread refills. I am not saying this to be mean or for a nasty comeback, I'm being truthful. I eat anything. I must say that my order, (Rock Fish (Lafayette)), was the worst tasting of anything that I EVER ordered. I didn't even finish the meal. It's pretty sad when your side dishes taste better than the main course. Once again, this was our last time to visit MacGregor's. Do yourself a favor and visit the restaurant down below them. Very minimal selections for appetizers and the rest of the options were disappointing as well not much to chose from. The prices have increased but now the options have decreased. We had such a nice experience at MacGregor's. We happened to go on a Wednesday when the crab cakes were on special so we tried them and they were delicious! The appetizer we had was the pretzel with imperial crab topping. That was great too! The service was great thanks to our server, Kelly. I will go back whenever I'm in Havre de Grace. read more

Dont bother coming here. Wanted a fun brunch place on the water. ONLINE MENU literally said they have eggs benedict. GREAT! Got there, they have a mcskillet (scrambled eggs, cheese and hollandaise sauce on an English muffin) asked for one minus the scrambled eggs and cheese. They also have "one egg your way" asked for a poached egg (was going to put it together myself) Sure no problem. She then comes back and says they wont make poached eggs (so its your way as long as the kitchen feels like making it) Fine, just give me the one and a fried egg. Please make sure the english muffin is cooked (over cooked I said, even burn it a little) it came out not cooked at all. Like they took it out of the bag and sloped the food on it. So needless to say, food was awful. Server was OK- obviously doesnt go to bat for her customers. Wont be back. None of the food anyone got was very good. And they were not busy at all (maybe 6 tables in the entire place) so toasting an english muffin really should not have been an issue. So many other amazing restaurants downtown! This past Saturday my fiancé and I finally had a chance to try this place out. We went there for lunch. I'm guessing they don't truly practice social distancing anymore. Some tables are X'd out, but everyone at the bar squeezed in next to each other as the hostess kept bringing them in. I decided to try their cream of crab soup, AWFUL! It was runny and greasy, guess it was butter that made it greasy on the top? Never had cream of crab that tasted that bad. I don't know why I then decided to try the crab cake sandwich, but that was full of filler and my fiancé tried the crabby patty, he ordered his burger, medium well. It was well done and very greasy and dry. We didn't even eat half of our lunch. I returned the soup, but I didn't want them thinking we were there to get a free meal so I paid $40 to eat some French fries, they were the only thing that tasted good. I was so mad at myself for detouring here instead of going to Coakley's right across the street. I tipped our waiter, as he was the only running the bar and serving the tables and I know it wasn't his fault. He did his best by being the only one out there and had no bad attitude or complaint about being the only one working. read more

Today was my first visit and it was pretty good. I follow a high protein diet and the crab omelette was tasty and perfect for my diet. My husband had cream of crab and said there were large chunks of meat, but it had a little too much wine in it. My mom was hugely disappointed with her crabcake. It was not jumbo lump, but backfin. The French fries were frivolous. Service was courteous. On Sunday there is a tasty brunch menu. While we didn't partake, there is also make your own Bloody Mary bar. I've never seen that before. I would come back for another omelette! read more

The inside of this place is incredibly dated and in need of updating which I think can get you off to a bad start. The service was very good though and the people working here are quite attentive. Looking over the menu the prices are pretty high too. As far as drinks the beer selection is very limited so if you're looking for something craft you most likely won't find it here. The other drinks they have seem to be just basic drinks nothing to adventurous. The food is good if you're just getting a burger or basic bar food. Much like their neighbor restaurant, they think because they have a "Water view" they can feed you slop with even sloppier service. We came here on a recommendation of locals after a morning race. We wanted the water view on a gorgeous April morning. We were thrilled to find a great brunch menu--very reasonable ($10-12) and included: fruit, muffins, entree, toast and home fries. Oh, also unlimited champagne, too! My friend had the Belgium waffles--delicious and I had the vegetable omelet--onion, peppers, spinach. Both were excellent! There was butter on toast and waffles, lots--might ask to have them dry next time or butter on the side. The water views were an added bonus. The owner was very welcoming--he gave us the history of the restaurant--it used to be a bank. Also open 365 days of the year! Good to know. Also gave us a slew of flyers for several upcoming events... His son is also in the business and was running the bar. Way to costly for what we Today was the last time. Been coming here for decades, especially in boating season. Went for a late lunch. Fair amount of people there. Went out to the deck. Had trouble finding a table because they were mostly covered with dirty dishes. During our 90 minutes there no tables were cleared. We had a grilled cheese, French dip, 1 Sam Adams, 1 club soda, 1 coffee. $50 with tip for 2! Food was only fair as it has been lately. Food was slow to come out. We went there for the Chicken Baltimore but they don't have that anymore. Our appetizer was mussels in garlic wine sauce and while I could taste the wine, I could not taste garlic. Our meal was fantastic! Being vegan, we are very limited on places to eat. The chef made us a special vegan pasta dish ( all you have to do is ask!) and it was delicious. Came here last weekend on my way home to Philly. This was not our first choice but the tidewater grille had a 45-minute wait and MacGregor's had none. However, it ended up being quite the same since we waited 45 minutes for our food. We were greeted promptly with water and our order was taken quickly but it went downhill from there. I ordered a Caesar Salad to start and my boyfriend a soup.... took 20 minutes. All you have to do is pour the soup it takes 1 minute... I have been a server before. Then, our entrees took another 25 minutes on top of that and I ordered a sandwich and he ordered wings. This is just unacceptable. I understand you may be short-staffed but if you do not have enough staff do not seat people! I would rather be told that there is a wait than not and have to be stuck in the restaurant waiting for the food that I had ordered. The sandwich was good for a sandwich and the wings were ok. Our server never asked how our food was and someone else had to bring the check for us. If you're looking to spend your entire day at a restaurant, I would recommend this place, but if you are trying to have a productive day, go somewhere else. read more

Made a reservation and no wait. Ordered the stuffed flounder, a garden salad and a Yingling......the Yingling and salads were good. Our server was good. However as a server I would not have served me those mashed potatoes. They looked gray and gummy on the plate ...and they were, yuk. Uneatable. Green beans were tasty. Flounder was OK but stuffing was unidentifiable, bland and mushy. Other order was shrimp scampi...the fettuccine was bland, seemed to just have a light coating of oil. Shrimp good but not many. We had not been in years and when we were being led to our seats ....I remembered why. You have to go through the tavern and a servers wait station to be seated. Bizarre. Should have updated years ago. Waterview is over a junky parking lot. Some exit doors blocked off, stuff sitting around looking junky. Lots of unbussed tables. With the prices charged the restaurant should be better maintained. My wife and I celebrated my daughter's birthday at McGregor's and the place was a major disappointment. We love seafood and have enjoyed delicious seafood at many restaurants in the area, but the food at this place was the absolute worst. The service was slow, our stuffed flounder was a small unseasoned filet portion, that looked and tasted like it something from a supermarket frozen food section. The tiny filet was on top of an untasteful, mushy and bland crab imperial.The wilted, unseasoned string beans served with our entree were overcooked. My daughter's 2 crab cakes were small, with more filler than crab meat. And to top it all off, the service was too slow. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more
