*Update 3/18/24 - my response to their response to my Google review The response you gave is pathetic. Instead of apologizing you say "these things happen"???!? No, these things do not happen at good restaurants with attentive staff aware of their surroundings!!!! I will now post this anywhere I possibly can... pathetic response! This place is horrible! We stopped in for lunch on St Patrick's Day. There weren't a lot of people in the dining area or bar so we decided it would be a good place, nice atmosphere. They sat us a few tables away from the entrance door near the hostess and where the servers stand. We waited at least a half hour as we watched the server in that area go to other tables, new tables, we watched the hostess that sat us walk by us several times too. My back was to the server hang out spot so I didn't notice from my view but my husband said there were at least 4 servers just standing there doing absolutely nothing while we continued to wait. We got up to walk out and I said to the server and hostess "do you guys not see us"? They just had confused looks on their faces and let us continue to walk out. We went to celebrate my birthday yesterday which is a special event in our lives and this experience ruined our day in Havre de Grace. Management....train your employees to pay attention to their surroundings and bot just their own tables! You'll continue to lose customers fast if you continue this way. Times are tough for a lot of people and eating out is an added expense that should be perfect from start to finish. We will never be back and we will also make sure our friends and family don't go there to be treated this way either. read more

Great choice for a late lunch. Visiting for the first time my Wife and I decided to stop in and we're glad we did. We sat inside over looking the waterfront. Eric our waiter provided great service and the food was excellent. I tried the Cola Barbecue brisket sandwich. What a great surprise, recommend you ask for extra napkins! The place was nicely decorated for Halloween. I'll be interested to see what they do for Thanksgiving and Christmas. read more

Oh Havre De Grace- you have so much potential but always leave us disappointed when it comes to food. The food here was no different. We waited an hour for some apps and pita pizzas. The food was so expensive and lacked flavor. 16$ for a very underwhelming calamari- if calamari is 16$- I expect it to be really well done. They served us 7$ calamari. We asked for a side of strawberries for our infant because there weren't any other options for her- the server stated that the kitchen refused to do it and she had to cut it herself (after we followed up about them twice). The kids pizza was torn up because the sauce had large onion pieces and burnt cheese. It shouldn't be hard to follow through with kids pizza. Even the fries were very bottom-teir. Re-think your menu and start serving better food so HDG can start to get a better name. What a shame and disappointment. read more

After a sunset cruise, my husband and I were looking for someplace nearby for dinner. We had walked past MacGregor's earlier in the day and noticed a nice outdoor deck, so we stopped by around 9pm on a Saturday. We had the option of sitting in the dining room, tavern, or outside. We chose outside and they had live music going on at the time. The inside was pretty dead, but they also close at 10pm. The menu is on the smaller side, but should have something for everyone. I didn't want to eat too heavily, so I chose a small strawberry salad and added grilled chicken. The salad also had red grapes, blue cheese crumbles, walnuts, and homemade poppyseed dressing. First, I appreciate they offer small and large size salads because the small was the perfect size. The chicken was well cooked and the portion was more than sufficient. Fruit was fresh;wish there was a little more blue cheese. Poppyseed dressing was a great flavor blend with the fruit. My husband ordered a maple glazed pork belly dish with chipotle cheesy grits, shrimp, and he substituted the creamed Brussels sprouts for fingerling potatoes. The pork belly was tender and juicy and not overly fatty. The grits were spicy and cheesy and the shrimp were nicely spiced and blackened. Service was adequate during our visit. Right before we were leaving an entire wedding party came onto the deck and things started to get super loud, so we were glad we came when we did and not later. I'd definitely recommend MacGregor's as a decent stop for dinner in Havre de Grace. read more

The back patio was really nice to sit out on and enjoy dinner and a drink. We got the crab dip and enjoyed it. Our server was really nice!

This place needs to be inspected. the horrific smells from the kitchen killed my appetite. I ordered oysters and they weren't even served on ice. they were dry and had a horrible smell as well as a yellow color to them. the orange crushes were like 10 bucks and were just juice and barely any liquor. this place should not be in business. the prices are insane for how bad it is. the bartender/waiter we had was good read more

Where do I start? The drinks took forever to arrive - and what bar runs out of Copper Mugs for a Moscow Mule (it wasn't even that crowded). Our soup arrived with our meal. And I ordered the Salmon BLT Salad. For an entree salad - a small piece of salad. And they forgot the dressing and bacon! I had to track down our server to let her know (I think they were short staffed). They made me a new one - which I never ate because the entire table was finished eating and I was still waiting for my salad. It eventually showed up and they did take it off the bill. Way overpriced food for being so mediocre and taking so long to come out. "Lavender margarita" was definitely not that, and super watered down -- and barely any alcohol. Mussels were suspicious enough that they were sent back. Peach bruschetta seemed like canned peaches and cheap prosciutto. This place is not worth the money or the wait. We had a great night here! The staff is top notch from the greeter to the little runner who dropped off our ketchup. The smash burger is the most delicious burger we have ever had hands down. We just had a wonderful Mothers Day meal today at MacGregors today. Our server was fantastic. She was so friendly and accommodating to our group. Date nite and we hit this cozy bar , restaurant. Two man band playing some good live music. Two bartenders handling the bar business with personality and great service! We both ordered from their hamburger section of the menu. They are described as "smash burger" the way they prepare them. All I can say is they were absolutely delicious!! I have not had a burger so tasty is a very long time. And the fries that came with were fresh out of the frier and better than any French fry you can find anywhere! We went here to have a nice night out and this establishment made it really nice. Def a 5 star worthy experience & we will be back! read more

Food was inedible , and the waitress was useless!! Got a turkey, BLT. I asked her if it was real turkey, and not lunch meat, and she said yes it was ...but it was lunch meat!! A sliver of lettuce, two slices of the tiniest tomatoes on the planet, and could not even chew the bacon!!! When I expressed my concern about the sandwich the waitress said, nothing spun around and didn't come back until everyone had to table was done eating. Stopped by on St. Patrick's Day around 10:30pm. The bar had only about 15 people inside. I stood at the middle at the bar trying to get the bartender's attention. I watched the bartender tend to her phone. After a few minutes, I moved to the end of the bar to try and get the bartender's attention while she tended to her fingers (manicure?). The bar back asked me to move as he walked past me. After a few more minutes, I moved back towards the middle of the bar and the guy wiping the tables behind me asked my wife and I to move. After a few more minutes, we left without receiving any service. For at least 10 minutes, I stood at the bar, moving around, holding money, looking directly at the bartender waiting for her to look up JUST ONCE and acknowledge my presence. She had nothing of it. My wife and I left and found another bar to buy a few drinks. Cannot recommend and will never return. read more

Terrible since CV!! Macgregor's used to have gourmet burgers and rolls, hot and crispy fries, and a decent beer and wine list. No more!!! Burgers are greasy and must be served well done (what's wrong with the beef when you can't order it medium rare??), rolls are basic and stale, fries are lukewarm and greasy (even after asking for a fresh order replacement), and adult beverages are cheap and uninspiring. Then there's the crappy service: had to ask for utensils and napkins after food was served and waitress disappeared for 15 min while we stared at the miserable food before us. (She admitted different food and new chefs!) This restaurant has gone to heck in a handbasket. I won't return and I won't recommend it. Awful!!! read more

Came to the quaint town of havre de grace for a weekend to visit and was taken here by a local. Everyone seems to know each other and they often have live music that gets the older folk busting a move. Food was pretty good and the drinks were flowing. Ordered a sex on the beach and a few heavy handed titos clubs. read more

We went today hoping for a great dinner date. The service was good, the waitress was friendly. The food was ok, over priced, the drinks where not great either. Drinks where watered down, hardly tasted any vodka in my Crush, our friends didn't like their drinks either. We ordered the octopus appetizer and the cauliflower appetizer. The octopus appetizer was two little pieces of tentacles, it was very well cooked however this plate is not worth 12 dollars. The cauliflower appetizer was good and it was an ok portion. Now our entrees, two of us ordered the fried lobster, our friend ordered the seafood scampi, and we also had the chicken sandwich. Again food was ok (not great) the lobster plates where over priced. Thirty dollar for a fried lobster tail over a bed of over cooked oily vegetables and the avocado "crema" was brown, instead of a healthy avocado green color. The fressie salad was oily over cooked, couldn't make what type of greens the salad was composed of, it included a couple of snap peas. The "sea food" scampi was just ridiculous, three shrimps, two scallops, and little piece of lobster all of the on a very small serving of pasta. We have been to five starts restaurants, where comparable plantes are much better and portions are better. Very disappointed. read more

We were seating on the deck when the temperature was 28 degrees outside. They had heat lamps, but the floor is not heated. Very, very cold. They had the front room reserved for a gathering. Not mentioned when reservations were made. I asked if the turkey blt was lunch meat turkey or actual turkey breast. The waitress stated it was actual turkey breast. It was not. Disappointed. I haven't been here in years and decided to check it out as I had fond memories. They had a special for tacos. I got the blackened chicken and boyfriend got the shrimp. They were absolutely awful. Drowning in Pace Picante sauce. There was no blackened on the chicken and the shrimp were small and over cooked. It took forever to get the food and even longer to get the check. We actually had to ask another server for our check. Unless they get a new chef and more staff I wouldn't recommend this place. Definitely not what it once was. read more

Mix that with a waitress who seemed less than amused to be serving us and never gave us her name, and a hostess that had no issue telling us the bar table was "reserved for us", our experience was less than desirable. We had to make a loud complaint to be recognized and have the manager address our concerns (which included her making a silly comment to my father and placing a bouquet on our table). It was terrible! The food also wasn't that great - we waited close to an hour and a half for our meal (and the only reason we received it was probably due to our complaint) and everything was lukewarm and miniature. Had a great time here while on travel for work. Stopped in on a Thursday During Happy Hour. I can't remember what the prices were for each item but I can tell you that I was pleasantly surprised when me bill came. For a burger and my drinks (Woodford Reserve on the rocks) my total was still under $30.00. Where I am from just the drinks themselves would have been $20 to $25. I had the Firecracker burger it had Monterey Jack cheese, Fresh Jalapeno Peppers and Crispy onions over all it was a really good burger. I really enjoyed the whole experience. I was there with about 20 people from work and we all had a great time talking and hanging out. Our Waiter Jayson I believe was his name truly went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. I look forward to a second visit next time I am in town. Good food, good prices and friendly staff great recipe for success. read more

Not our first choice for 'best seafood in town' based on other yelp reviews, however those were closed due to it being Memorial Day. As if service industry folks need time with their families on national holidays... We ordered the hot crab dip with pita; seriously amaze-balls. We also ordered the catfish special...not recommended if you're from the south. Staff was friendly and attentive. Other patrons in the restaurant were quite entertaining. Namely the gentleman with Darth Vader helmet hair and the 10-year-old boy, who after taking about a quarter of the bowl of delicious chocolate covered mints generously said yes he would share. A must visit if you're in this 'best small town'. Also. May want to bring your hair crimper if you want to avoid looking like a tourist. read more

Sat on the deck and took about 15 minutes for someone that wasn't our waiter to ask if we wanted drinks. The waiter came over, took our food order and then eventually came back with drinks. We got fish dishes and when they came out, we didn't have silverware. Waiter said he'd be right back with it. We sat there for 10 minutes with our fish getting cold before I got up and got silverware off a table, reserved for someone else. The waiter was friendly but super inattentive. The rockfish was super bland but the stuffed flounder was really good. I did enjoy it. I asked for a drink refill when the food got to the table and that came out when I was done eating. The waiter never stopped back after dropping off food to check on us, see if we needed anything, nothing. I asked the waiter for the check which he promptly brought and promptly returned for. Getting the bill settled was the fastest thing about the service tonight. With other places nearby to try, I doubt I'll go back to MacGregor's again. read more

We have been customers here for years but haven't been for a while. Not the MacGregor's we remember. We ordered soup and an appetizer which took forever to come out and both were cold. The bar tender on the deck by her own admission was tried and her lack of attention proved it. We ordered a burger and the shrimp po boy sandwich and again both were cold and my husband had about 10 French fries on his plate. At this point we just wanted to finish eating and pay our check. There are just too many other places to eat in Havre de Grace to go back there. So Sad! read more

I heard that this restaurant had improved and had gotten a new chef. However, yesterday I ordered a special salad that was over priced and the lettuce was slimy. My husband ordered the rock fish and chips and the inside of the dough on the fish wasn't cooked all the way. we told the staff and they remove the charges for the fish and chips in the salad from the bill. Not what it once was. Just tried this old family favorite after a while away. My shrimp po boy had lovely crispy shrimp but the lettuce and bacon were a flaccid mess. Tomato was totally flavorless. Good fries though. The rest of my families food was similarly bland with the only repeatable order being the turkey blt. Worst part was waiting an hour for our food to arrive.
