Alex's shop is located inside his garage so don't be confused if you drive into a residential area and don't see a sign. Just look for the house number. Also, Alex will meet you with an APPOINTMENT! I didn't know this but thankfully I caught him outside his house and was able to leave my laptop with him. My macbook pro is now 4 years old an never really had issues. The other day, I decided to clean the keyboard by using a paper towel sprayed with some lysol. Little did I know that alone can cause severe water damage that rendered half my keys not usable. I tried air drying, blow drying, and even taking the keys apart but nothing helped. I found Alex on Yelp and many of the comments mentioned the same dilemma with their laptops and Alex was able to fix it. The Apple store quoted me over $250 to fix my laptop and it required them to mail it into the headquarters, and the turn around could take 3-5 days. Alex knew the problem immediately and only charged me $165 and I was able to pick up the laptop in 24 hours. You guys, the reason it costs so much to fix your keyboard is because this is very labor intensive. If you've ever looked inside a macbook (I tried to fix my laptop via a youtube video and it got way too confusing), there are a million screws and it requires very minuscule tools and time that many people don't want to bother with. If there is water damage, the key board panel will turn red to indicate that. Thankfully, everything else was functional and he already had a keyboard in stock ready for me. The whole process was quick, efficient, and was a reasonable price. I highly recommend Alex with your Macbook/Iphone needs! Remember to keep all liquids away from your laptop! I have a Late 2011 MacBook Pro 13", that I use as a work horse for travel and had spilled quite a bit of liquid on the keyboard recently. My MacBook Pro made a rattling noise, and then totally shut off and would not turn on. I took it to an Apple store, but they had a 3 day wait before could be serviced. Blah. My wife then googled "San Jose MacBook repair" or something, and she found Mobile Mac Techs. I called, scheduled an appointment for the next morning, went there, and within 5 minutes, Alex had diagnosed the problem, thoroughly explained it to me (I am no tech-guy), and quoted me on a price. No more than 2 hours later, he had repaired the video chip, and thoroughly cleaned the inside (and out) of the laptop. I have a 15" Macbook Pro - early 2011 - that developed a video card problem that is widespread with this model. Most Mac "experts" including Apple itself will tell you to get an entirely new logicboard at a cost that is almost the same as buying a new computer. Somewhere around 800 dollars. And I almost had to do that. Luckily, I found Alex and Mobile Mac Techs. Alex basically says "hogwash" to getting an entirely new motherboard. With his 20 years of working for Apple, Alex knew exactly what the problem was - the chip wasn't properly soldered to the logic board. It is a problem that is occurring on thousands of early 2011 models. They aren't soldering it properly at the factory during the assembly process. Using infra-red technology and other tools, Alex is able to re-solder the chip better than the original soldering at the factory. The results is that my computer is more solid now than when it was new. It is handling heavy HD video editing for months without any problems. IF YOU HAVE AN EARLY 2011 15" MACBOOK PRO, with the dreaded VIDEO CARD PROBLEM, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Alex and Mobile Mac Techs. He fixed the problem at a fraction of the cost of a new motherboard. Alex has magic fingers...... He saved a brand new Macbook air from water damage and a battery that had caught on fire. He replaced the hard drive in a MacPro. And he fixed a broken screen and exploded battery in another - all three for less than it costs just for apple to bat their eyes in my direction. Alex updated the OS on my G5 imac. Not only was I pleased with his work but also my decision of having him do the work. It is easy to see that he really likes what he does. Alex is an expert at what he does. I have a MacBook pro and I sat on it and broke the screen about a year ago. I called numerous Mac repair shops and not a single shop quoted me less than 400 to replace the screen. So the MacBook sat under my bed collecting dust. I was cleaning out my room and came across the laptop almost a year later. My first thought was to throw it in the trash but I figured it couldn't hurt to try and find a repair shop that could fix it for a reasonable price. Next thing you know I am dropping off my MacBook to Alex within an hour of calling him with a quote for less than half of what any other shop wanted to charge me. He replaced the screen in about 30 mins and also replaced a fan and resecured some loose wires. He was incredibly knowledgeable and a really great guy. As an employee of Cisco and a new user of Mac, I had no idea how difficult the process would be to get a repair.
