Chili cheese tater tots and buffalo gator tail.
Brandon H.

Great little restaurant with a great view. Buffalo gator tail isn't on the menu but they made it for me anyway. Our service was fantastic. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be stopping by.

Be ready and be hungry they have a 1/4 pound cheeseburger, a 1/2 pound burger, and a 1 pounder cooked order with all the fixes. They also got a great patty melt an excellent Philly steak.

This is a hit or miss kind of hole in the wall. It's usually pretty good but it's never been bad.

Great Philly cheesesteak and the best fried catfish. Took the boat all the way from Wyboo just to have lunch there.

There's something about the name "Acme" and good seafood when it comes to coastal restaurants…read more Along the Gulf, you think of Acme Oyster House. On the coastal Atlantic, we recommend Acme Low Country Kitchen. You get five-star food in a rustic setting that could benefit for a bit of a makeover -- but only a touch or two. Excellent service compliments the food. On our plate: The "Light: House, including sauteed shrimp, seared scallops and a house-made, fresh crab cake that comes with a caveat that a shell chip or two might be mixed (we call that authentication). All were perfectly prepared and ample sized. This wasn't a shrimp-and-chips drive-through; this was a meal. Our sides: Collards (this is the low country) and fried Brussel sprouts, again well prepared. Price: $38.25 and among the higher-priced items on the seafood-heavy menu but worth it. Others in our party, including two non seafood eaters, chose the pecan fried chicken (two breast with one each going home because of the size) with another going with the Carolina Duo of the chicken and short ribs. Will we return? Yes. There are other options we've yet to try as our visits to Charleston increase but this was a real treat. Even better, it is near the fabled Dingy beach bar where we ducked in to watch the Kentucky Derby. We could spend our retirement years at The Dingy but that's another review to come. Acme is a 4.5-star review with the only points shaved because it just needs a little updating (after the season, perhaps). The food and service more than make up for it.

We walked in and the place was emptier than a church on a Wednesday night, yet somehow we were told to head on over to the bar, wait for a table, and go ahead and order ourselves a drink. Didn't make much sense, but we did as we were told. Then we stood there a good 10 minutes while the bartender, who let us know he's studying to be a dentist up in Spartanburg, was busy chatting away with another customer like we weren't even there. When he finally got around to us, it felt like we were more of an inconvenience than paying customers. But the real kicker came after we finally got our drinks. The manager came up, and I kid you not, told us we had to leave the restaurant and go out to the parking lot to finish them. No explanation, just attitude, and not a polite one either. To be honest, the manager seemed like she might have had a little too much Easter spirit, if you catch my drift. The whole interaction was downright combative and made us feel completely unwelcome. What really got me, though, was the poor hostesses and waitstaff. They apologized to us over and over and quietly let us know this kind of situation is something they deal with on a daily basis. We even heard her speaking sharply to another customer, which made it clear this wasn't just a one time issue. Honestly, the whole experience felt like a bad trip to the dentist and cost about the same as a root canal. All in all, it was a mess from start to finish, rude, confusing, and about as un Southern hospitality as you can get. I would think twice before going back, y'all.

We ordered frogs legs, mozzarella sticks and shrimp fondue for appetizers. The shrimp fondue was absolutely delicious!! Frog legs and mozzarella sticks were fresh and hot. My daughter and I had the Mother's Day specials with shrimp, scallops, oysters, lobster tail and rib eye steak. OMG, it was one of the best meals I have eaten in quite a while!! Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. We will be back soon and often. By the way, I live 50 minutes from the restaurant but will gladly drive for the delightful food!

When she brought our drinks, they were one was cuffed under her arms (3 drinks). She finally took our order. Then she brought to us, I guess an appetizer which looked like a cornbread fritter. It was overcooked and dry‍. When we received our entree, we had Mac n cheese, collard greens, seafood rice and a seafood boil. The collard greens were extremely sweet, rice and Mac n cheese were dry like leftovers. Now the seafood boil was plentiful but it was doused in margarine with clumps all over the plate, cold and not melted at all. The fish was cooked good but no seasoning. I was truly disappointed and my last visit here, perhaps I came a on a bad day because they sure had less than 7 customers seated. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED!!!

I got the tuna tartare to start, which was very fresh with the right touch of acidity. The tomahawk was cooked to a perfect medium rare with a nice red wine sauce (you can skip this if you want), and the flavor and seasoning was on point. The lobster Mac was creamy and had the right amount of lobster, the loaded mash potatoes were textbook, and the Brussels sprouts were the best I've ever had. Halls Chophouse absolutely delivered a fantastic night out…read more We started with the Halls Chop Salad and it was incredible--both the flavors and the presentation were spot on. You can tell they really pay attention to the details. For dinner, we ordered the 8 oz filet and the mushroom risotto. The filet was cooked perfectly (medium rare just as we requested) and was everything you want in a great steak. The mushroom risotto was delicious and full of flavor, but for me (wife), it was just a bit too salty. My husband agreed. Next time, I would definitely ask for less salt because the dish itself was excellent otherwise. We skipped dessert, but honestly didn't feel like we were missing anything after such a great meal. The live music was amazing and really elevated the entire experience. The crowd and vibe were just as good--some people dressed to the nines, while others were in shorts, flip flops, and t-shirts with ball caps. It was a fun mix and made the whole place feel welcoming and energetic. Overall, an awesome experience and a spot we'd absolutely come back to.
