Music Man is still my brother-in-law's favorite BBQ, but the food used to be so much better. They used to throw out food that had been sitting for a while. Now, we need to be careful to check that the food is not past its prime. When they add new food trays, food that clearly is dried out is scooped from the old trays and put on top of the fresh food. My husband and I sometimes find it difficult to believe this is the same restaurant because Music Man has changed so much. My brother-in-law still loves Music Man. read more

This has been a long-standing locally owned restaurant here in Moncks corner. It's recently being renovated due to a fire, a little while back, with plenty of seating inside. The service is always fantastic here and the food is plentiful, delicious and local. The pulled pork here has three distinct flavors, mild spicy, vinegar based, and good old Carolina mustard gold. The sweet potatoes are simmered in a brown sugar base and are some of the best I've tried. Now let me tell you about the banana pudding, it is creamy, homemade, and out of this world. read more

NEVER AGAIN--for another eight years. (we tried this place a long time ago) arrived 2/1/24 4:30pm Called in advance and was told BBQ ribs are only on Saturday, but today we have cat fish.... ok fine...but by 5:30 they were OUT of catfish and no more to be put out. (what and you only close at 8pm ) The Roasted chicken was so dry like it was moist the day before and this was just reheated up...YUK There was pulled pork and some toppings for them , but they also looked dryer than normal. The Hash , i watched , came fresh (if you call fresh out of a jar) out of 2 --large labeled jars....it was decent . But the limited selection and the QUALITY was sooooo far below our expectations that i can think of better places to spend my money. And it's not the money, raise prices if you must, but you have to improve the food quality... I WILL NOT BE BACK in my opinion i give this place minus one star read more

While visiting South Carolina, we wanted to try some authentic barbecue. This restaurant was close to an attraction. We wanted to see. When we went. It was buffet style. They make a hash which is a local dish. It was really good as well as the mustard chopped pork. I really enjoyed their coleslaw. Employees were coming around refilling drinks and taking dirty plates. We tried the pudding for dessert and they were pretty good If you're in the area I would give it a try. read more

I went there with the wife after doing some shopping. I had really high hopes since I heard that it had a great buffet and even better BBQ. The price was okay. Two senior buffets was a little less than thirty dollars for lunch. But then we got up to buffet, the chickens was so dry, the yams we hard as a rock, the macaroni and cheese was dry, the string beans were mush and the one thing I really hoped for was the pulled pork. They had 2 different styles, one with vinegar, and 1 with mustard. Both were mushy and had no flavor unless you put on some of their BBQ sauces to spice it up. I did enjoy the meatloaf, the sausage and onions were good also, though they were cold. I would not recommend this place at least for lunch. I might give him a try for dinner. A true small town family owned restaurant with charming service. We stepped in after visiting Berkeley County DMV. The daughter of the owner was so friendly. She made sure we had everything we need. This is mostly a buffet style experience with daily specials on top of the BBQ. The special today chicken and dumplings were outstanding. The baked chicken was also very good and I paired it with the BBQ vinegar sauce. The southern style green beans and Lima beans were also great. The Oreo pudding and banana pudding are a treat. They were out of barbecue when we arrived around 6:30 PM on a Saturday night. All that was left for meat was baked chicken, ribs that looked like they were baked or boiled and hash. I like the way the green beans and the Black Eyed Peas were cooked, but nothing else other than the hash was worth eating. I think this is the first time I gave one star. read more

I tend to judge BBQ joints by their hash. That said I love the hash at Music Man. Plus the BBQ is fantastic too. It's a buffet with great side dishes and on different days they have fried chicken or ribs or something else good. Well...like others, the place is clean and the wait staff is very nice but 93 for a family of 5 with a tip, it's definitely not worth it....the barbecue is a 7 at best, the chicken and dumplings are a 6 and the rest of the bar is a 6. The only thing that's worth it's weight is the bread pudding and the sweet tea. We were only there because my 11 yo thought it would be cheaper than California Dreaming....Nope....won't be sending that much here again! read more

Ummm, what does San Fransisco know about BBQ? NOTHING! ZERO! ZILCH! If you are looking for a trendy BBQ Joint, this isn't the place. It is spartan at best. The staff is awesome. The food is solid. The shredded pork in the mustard based sauce was fantastic! Sure it's buffet style. Yes it's all you can eat. And for the price, it's a bargain! Locals are lucky to have this diamond in the rough in 'The Corner'. As for those passing through expecting Myron Mixon BBQ... You're idiots. Try a bit of humility. It'll go a long way in the South. We went there today, the waitresses were nice, the building was clean but the food- ehhhh.... They didn't have fried chicken, they had fried fish that looked so soggy the skin was falling off. The vinegar based bbq was inedible, the "music man special" bbq was equally inedible. They had no brown gravy for their white crunchy rice. They had baked chicken and Mac n cheese that was both super dry. I just don't understand the hype of this place. For $15 a person it was NOT worth it. read more

I've heard so much about this place. I actually had a day where I can go and visit. Little mom and pop places are a rarity anymore around our area. The barbecue joints popping up are over priced and you get a tray of meat with like a side or two. The hash and rice with some of the best hash I've ever had in my life. The homemade yams were ridiculously good. All the food was seasoned to perfection. Including the vegetables. I had cabbage and green beans. The macaroni and cheese was super creamy and cheesy. We went on a Wednesday and they had chicken and dumplings on the bar. I honestly have not stopped thinking about them since. The sweet tea was southern gold. This place will definitely be in rotation. I don't think I can say one negative thing about anything I ate from the all you can eat bar. Service was exceptionally friendly and restaurant was super clean. Very homey vibe. On a sidenote... My daughter does not eat fish. She was chowing down on what she thought was chicken tenders. I grabbed a pinch and it literally melted in my mouth. She just kept going on and on about how great they were. I had to break her heart by telling her it was fish lol. My church friends and I stopped in here for a lunch before visiting the crèche festival at mepkin abbey. It was delicious. The staff were all super sweet and helpful. The food was great. The only bad thing, I was missing a sweet bbq sauce for the pulled pork. We all had the lunch Buffet which was roughly $12.50 including a drink.
