What a nice local place! My boyfriend and I visited on Monday night. There were more people than I expected for a Monday but nothing crazy. Our server, Kimberly, was very sweet and attentive. I watched her interact with a gentleman and his kid the table over from us and I found it heartwarming and just above and beyond what you expect for service in this day and age Now the food was great! We got cheese curds to start and enjoyed those. My boyfriend got the classic burger with American cheese and added candied bacon. He was in heaven eating it. It was cooked well and the flavor was there. It didn't need any condiments on it. I ordered the chicken teriyaki Philly. I loved it! It was a good portion, well flavored and delicious. They serve our favorite kind of fries (the battered and crispy ones). One thing I would point out is that the menu on their website is a bit different from their in house menu. The prices were off by a bit 50 cents or so and there were items missing in person. They may need to update their online menu. read more

my husband tried since last year to get on your schedule to play his music there he is a pro toured in USA, Canada and Europe. he puts his name in . telhe bartender takes his info, he's on utube and has written over 350 songs has a bunch of CDs. no one ever calls him. we had been customers there every week straight for 19 months. I see a list of singers on their schedule. what does it take to get a gig.in this place. He sings blues is Americana license and Bmi is this bar Bmi license. why do you ignore professional talent and he has a master's in music. so you would rather have a DJ that plays other singers music. then a man that has original music. what have the bars in this area doing. Once again I'll tell ya'll this place is a well kept secret, a little off the beaten path. They sever outstanding food at very reasonable prices with service that can't be beat. Last night three of us throughly enjoyed ourselves, two having patty melts, one with their seasoned fries, the other with their home made chips, Super tasting for all! Food was perfectly cooked with good portion size for the price. Wings are great size with several delicious sauces to choose from. The delicious catfish nuggets have a little to much salt for my liking, I'm not a salt person, so if you're salt sensitive be sure to ask them to cut back on the salt. The cheeseburger wrap was more than we anticipated and took half of it home, my side salad was big for a side salad with crisp veggies and delicious blue cheese dressing which we also took home. My mom lives down the road so when I come to visit we're often looking for something to eat. Options are limited in Moncks Corner so we decided to come by Tail Race as I'd driven by it plenty of times and the Yelp reviews were pretty decent. You can tell this place houses more of a bar atmosphere but we were in for a very late lunch or early dinner, whichever you'd prefer. There were a few patrons taking kicking off work early and enjoying a beverage. We were offered to sit wherever we liked. We did so and my mom was freezing... even after I went out and got her a hoodie from my car. We eventually moved outside and there were no eye rolls or loud sighs of grief. The service was decent and the food was as expected if not better. I had a burger topped with bacon and smothered in beer cheese. There were plenty of games around and a couple pool tables as well. Great food and service yet would love to call out the hidden fees! Prices have already been increased due to the economy, totally understandable! Now the consumer pays hidden fees that they wouldn't know about unless reviewing the bill? We look at a menu and order based upon price of food and beverage and sales tax then gratuity for great service... Now there's more add-ons??? Poor business if you ask me. I will not return to businesses that practice these hidden fees and would like to help spread the word to consumers. read more

I was told by someone before I went there for the first time that the prices were high. After my first visit I realized that you receive twice the amount of food you need. Well my wife and I decided to try somewhere new to eat in our new home town of Moncks Corner. We both wanted a burger so we decided to check out this place. Well lets start with the good. The atmosphere here was good, there was a mixture of different age groups. They had some games to play and plenty of TVs to watch. The parking lot is lit up really well at night also. The staff also seemed to be polite and friendly. Now on to the bad. The night started with our drink order and appetizer. Even though this place is a bar I had a Pepsi since I was driving, the fountain mixture was obviously not set to provide the right mixture and was a little on the carbonated side. I am not a fan of Pepsi and would have preferred Coca Cola or it would have been nice to have been able to order a Mountain Dew (don't have it) since it was Pepsi products. The mozzarella cheese sticks were over cooked. For the main entree we both had the bacon beer cheese burger with fries. We were asked how we wanted the burgers cooked, we said medium and when they came out they were overcooked (super well-done). The burger was flavored well and the cheese sauce paired with the burger patty nicely but when I had a little bit of the bun left with cheese sauce on it; let me tell you it was not very tasty. The french fries were soggy and over cooked in grease, they tasted and looked like they were fresh cut fries but probably would have been better off baked in an oven, it felt like they were holding in grease. The service was also a little slow. Now I am giving them 3 stars because it looks like it would be a fun place to hang out and have some beers and watch some sporting events. This place also has a lot of potential if they were to improve the quality of food a little bit. I would also recommend that they revisit their prices because it was a little over priced I felt. Overall I would go back here again for beers and a place to hangout with some friends. I would even be willing to try the food again because some places do have off nights. read more

Met some friends for dinner at the Tail Race. My friend an I had the fried catfish and our husbands had the pork chops. For sides, we had Mac and cheese and collard greens. The pork chops were delicious. The mashed potatoes were cold. The Mac and cheese was a little too creamy for my taste. The catfish had a nice light coating, but the fillet was very thin. The acoustics made it very loud. Not sure what it would sound like when the band plays. We were happy to see the arcade games and of course our spouses had to try their luck at pinball. The first two dollars worth of quarters they put in wee eaten by the machine, but once we made the waitress aware of it she came back with the quarters we lost. The guys had a great time playing. Well what can I say? It was about 6:30 pm. I'd not eaten since a bowl of cereal about 6:30 am so I was hungry. When I arrived NO one was eating so I started to go elsewhere. Given the time of day and my lack of motivation to go elsewhere I ended up ordering a cheeseburger and some onion rings at Tail Chase. My cheeseburger was ok. It certainly was not one that I would not go back for. My onion rings were not edible. They were SO greasy. I told my server about the onion rings which I had not eaten. She did not say a word. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday (10/6/18) night. The place was pretty much empty...maybe 6 people in the entire place. I didn't see a lot on the menu that interest me so I ordered a beer and the hero nachos with chicken thinking how can you mess up nachos. Well this place figured that out. The cheese wasn't melted, there was a huge leaf of un sheredded lettuce, a hand full of black olives and a few jalapeños. It Iooked like a blind bull with two left hands and no thumbs put it together. The wife and I wanted bar food. Everyone knows what they are getting when ordering food at a bar. The food was decent, but the place was dead. I counted 30 people and half were geriatrics. I asked the server where everyone was and her reply was that the game started at 9pm and she really hoped no one would show up. Halfway through our time there the geriatric crowd left and there were only 13 customers left. The MAJOR problem came when it was time to pay our bill. There payment system crashed and they were unable to process debit cards. It seems that this is a regular issue. We were told to use the bars ATM that charged $3.50 for use. I'm not sure if I've ever left a one star review. Absolutely nothing redeeming about this visit. We arrived at 540 on a week night and it was not busy. The bartender greeted us, and advised to sit anywhere. A waitress brought us menus, my companion ordered diet coke and I got tea, which was promptly brought. We got the appetizer of the candied bacon which was clearly pre done and reheated. It went downhill from there. Forgotten sides, lackluster food, poorly described dishes (quesadilla on a spinach "tortilla?") begin as an overview. Our server took our glasses away from the table for refills, and dropped them off back with us. She's reversed them (I'm guessing), so we now both had a carbonated mixture of tea and diet coke. I had to go to the bar to get this resolved. Fifteen minutes after finishing out meal, I finally saw our server and went to ask for a box, she interrupted me and said "one minute," and then said she'd bring the bill in just a minute. She then proceeded to make change for 4 other tables who all arrived after us and also seemed aggravated, before even bringing our ticket. We were there over 90 minutes. I can't recommend this place. We had $40 worth of drinks, sides, apps, and the fries were really the only thing I can call good. Service was as poor as I've experienced in years with the drink reversal, MIA, and then blatant passing by. read more
