The food is amazing. I got the Titanic Sandwich it was fire. The service was good. I would recommend going. The only problems I've had is the bathroom is dirty sometimes. Overall a good place to eat. read more

The food has gone downhill. The restaurant is dirty. You can always tell how clean a restaurant is by checking out the bathroom. If it is not clean then the kitchen is probably not clean. Service was very slow and not that many people there. The whole restaurant needs to be deep cleaned and refreshed. The Health Department needs to do a better job inspecting it! read more

A fun sandwich shop with a full bar. It is a solid pick for any size group, with options for just about anyone. There are salads, soup and sandwiches. The food comes out fast and servers are friendly a the bathrooms can be a little funky, which always leads me to wonder how the kitchen is. They have a nice patio during the warm months and large doors that open to the patio, but have not seen them open a while. read more

I'm not sure why this place has such a low score. I've been coming here for several years. I always get decent service and a great tasty sandwich. I had the Little Italy today and there was nothing little about it. They piled on 3 meats, cheese and fresh toppings. read more

Very good food, pleasant and friendly wait staff. Highly recommend and we will go there again, for sure

Our waitress Susan was very helpful. She came to check on us. We will be back. I like how encourage she was

Terrible service, do NOT order especially if getting to go. The first time my entire side of fries was forgotten, this time the actual dressing for a RUEBEN SANDWICH was forgotten. Real geniuses that work there with 0 quality control. Good job management! read more

Decent burger, prices aren't too bad. My father ordered wings and they actually gave him a couple extra because we had to wait a bit. Server was nice. Place felt a little cheap, with some tables not having salt/pepper - had to steal some from another table - and claw machines that looked like they had bootleg merchandise in them. That said, place was clean. Overall, it's the kind of place I could go to every now and then. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. Waited 20 min just for someone to take our order and then waited and hour and our food still hasn't come out we left and won't be back. read more

We waited for over an hour for a barely filled restaurant to get our food. Our waitress had an attitude while taking our order. We have always loved coming here but the service has gone significantly down hill. When you first walk into the restaurant it reeks of pee. I'm not sure if it is because the bathrooms are up front and not cleaned properly or if the mop being used isn't cleaned but it's nasty. If you get a chance, don't sit in the back corner by the stained glass. It's the forgotten corner. read more

this location is TERRIBLE. several of the chips in the chip basket that we not fully cooked. the macaroni salad side my friend got was full of hairs. our server was at our table a maximum of 5 times in the hour and a half we were here. the manager did take off 20% for the issues but the meal was basically ruined. past times being here i and other people have gotten cold food, poor hygiene proof, and terrible service. not to mention the music is far too loud. DO NOT go to this location, go to one of their others. read more

Macado's - look at the top right near the center, there are visible hairs in this mac salad. - Chicken Wings Near Me - Roanoke, Virginia

Food was decent, service and atmosphere were better. I was hoping for a "stand out" sandwich/ burger joint. I'm from New Orleans and have different expectations for a sandwich. Considering Roanoke has 300 burger / sandwich shops littered, on every street, was hoping for that "wow this is different and unique" although the food was ok, it taste like the other 35 sandwich shops on the same street. For a bigger restaurant, such as this. They need to focus on more out the box unknown to the NOKE taste. read more

Nice local spot for sandwiches. The entrance is a little tucked away up the hill so if you're not familiar with the road you might drive right past it. We came in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Ordered Bang Bang Shrimp for appetizers which came out nice and crispy. The crisps served with the shrimp were a bit of a miss, they didn't really taste like anything and were kind of dense and light and crispy. Shrimp and sauce itself were both delicious. The sandwiches we ordered were all good flavor wise. My husband and friend's sandwiches were both well packed with a lot of ingredients. The side of tater tots was very crispy and crunchy. My sandwich was not the same level as theirs. I ordered the Titanic which is Prime Rib with Au Jus. While it tasted good and the au jus was flavorful the meat didn't even fill the bun to the ends; there was at least an inch of bread with absolutely no filling. For something called the "Titanic" I expected it to be overflowing, if not at least fill the bun end to end like the other sandwiches. We will probably be back as my husband loves the sandwiches here but I'll probably order something different. read more

Kind of shocked to see the low number of stars for this restaurant. My husband and I stopped here to eat on the way home from a friends. Everything was absolutely delicious and the server. Kayla W, was amazing. We had the spinach and artichoke dip, the Brooklyn bridge sandwich with onion rings, and the big daddy with tots. The food was hot and way more than both my husband and I could eat. The amount of food we got was totally worth the price of our bill. Kayla was a wonderful server who gave great suggestions and kept our tea glasses full. If you're passing through Roanoke , I think this is definitely a place you should give a try. read more

Giving four stars because service and my husband enjoyed his meal. Actually was great to see that once we had told them that the burger was to overcooked they were able to fix it on the bill for us which is rare to see now a days. Usually a restaurant will apologize and let their chef know which is also good but not as great as a manager being able to fix it for us. The food came out at a great time as well. read more

Worst food ever. We ordered several appetizers including a nachos that was canned cheese and jalapeños on some tortilla chips. The Bang Bang shrimp were over-battered and greasy. Spinach dip tasted like sewer water though the chips with it were pretty good. And the pretzel and beer cheese seemed to keep a couple people content in our party of 5. Sandwiches. I ordered the Chicken BLT and two bites in told the waitress I wasn't eating it. My lunch became reduced to some watery coke slaw and a pickle. The rest of my table ordered various other sandwiches from the menu all wishing they had not eaten them afterwards. Saving grace? Our waitress was accommodating and polite, and did offer me a replacement sandwich. I declined since everyone else at the table was unhappy with their mess too. read more

I've eaten at other Macado's locations before and this was by far the WORST experience. We came on a Friday night and the server who took our orders left without saying anything. A brand new server came to the rescue and did as good of a job as he could. Half of our party never received the drinks they ordered and it took over an hour for the food to come out. There were only 1 or 2 other tables there. The nacho tater tots were not good; wished we had cancelled our order after the first hour of waiting. Only redeeming factor was the cheap frozen margs for the half of us that got them. read more

I wanted to give this place 3 stars but frankly, it wasn't deserving. Maybe it was an off night for this place because my friend had nothing to say but good things. But I wasn't feeling it. Our party of 4 adults and 6 kids were seated in a far corner of the restaurant, which was fine. Except that we got forgotten about back that. Our waiter took a while to get our drink order and I wondered if he was ever coming back to take our food order. In his defense, he came and told us he needed to get his "party situated first" and would come back to us. And I sort of get that. But why are we second to other parties just because they're larger? Because they'll pay more? He was super friendly but the poor guy was sweating a storm and was obviously overwhelmed with too many things to do. Anyway we placed our order and waited. The appetizer was brought out for one of our parties, and eventually the food came out..except for one of the kids meals. Imagine two cranky, starving kids who see a whole table of food served only to find out their meal is on hold. Yikes. Thankfully everyone shared food with us in the meantime. A breakdown of the food. The spicy honey bbq boneless wings were really good. Chicken fingers, French fries, tator tots, and onion rings were standard. I ordered the chicken almond salad and I thought it was awful. I ate around the actual chicken salad and just ate the salad part. Until we dropped a fork that is, and everything took so long to get to the table, I gave up and didn't bother asking for another. The only thing that did come quick was the bill. Would I give it another try? Probably so. It definitely seemed like an off night, and it was way too busy for it not to be a decent restaurant. I just wouldn't order what I ordered again. Unfortunately, I'm not from the area so I probably won't be able to give this place a second chance. read more

Never been here and the family said t was good. I wasn't disappointed. The servers are courteous and attentive but they do not get in a hurry. My drink glass was empty more than it was full and thus the 4 stars instead of 5. The food on the other hand was excellent. I had the chicken & Broccoli mac and cheese and my sister got the fish tacos. I have had a craving for mac & cheese for months and I've fixed it several times this last month and this was really good. Ok first off I am not a fish taco guy and I've never had one that I liked, even thrones that everyone raves about in all the places I've traveled. That being said, when we come back here to visit I will order these fish tacos for my meal. They were superb!! read more

I lived in Roanoke for the first 22 years of my life and Macado's was my favorite place to go. When I waited tables just out of college my co-workers and I used to come eat here after our Saturday shifts at around 11pm. I love their chili cheese fries. This place has a pretty popular bar (I don't drink so I never sat over there) where if you order specialty drinks you'll get a Macado's hurricane glass to bring home or, during holidays like Halloween or St. Patrick's Day a holiday beer glass. They're cute and I have a ton at home. My favorite sandwich is the Mona Lisa which has salami, ham, provolone, pepperoni, balsamic vinaigrette, lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, served hot on French bread comes with chips and a pickle (pulled this from their online menu since I couldn't remember everything it has). But I also like the honeymooner with ham, melted Swiss, bacon, and tomato, on a hot croissant and a tuna salad sandwich on a toasted roll that I can't remember or find the name of now. They have tons of sodas and drinks and a load of sandwiches but they also have wraps and burgers and pasta and good desserts. Basically the menu is huge but the fresh sandwiches are the best part. Every time I go home to see family and friends there is a trip to Macado's on the books. It's a must. Mmmmm. Service isn't always stellar because they tend to get really busy on weekends but as a regular I know it and expect it - I never go when I'm in a huge hurry to get the bill or pay so I'm fine with it. Prices are reasonable since this is pub/bar type food. read more

I order through FoorDash an order that included Frips and Potato chips, they neglected to place in our pick up order. When I spoke with the Manager he stated that I would have to come in and pick the the chips at 10 pm. I asked him if I could pick up them the next day. Staff and food is wonderful! Thank u for such great service but damn ... the bathrooms are disgusting. Come on guys! U can do better.

I stopped here with wife, brother and sister in law. We arrived about 730pm. We had to wait to be seated not because it was busy but because there was no host or hostess to seat us. Following about a five minute wait, they hostess did arrive and brought us to a table. We sat at the table at least ten minutes before the waitress walked over, apologized for the wait and explained she would be right back, without taking any drink orders. Another five minutes passed and she returned for the drink order. The drinks came out seven minutes later. This was the theme for the rest of the visit. By the time we got to request apps we had already been at the table close to 30 minutes. The waitress kept apologizing for the long waits but nothing got better. When we finally got to order food I choose the Ruben. It was a classic Ruben made decent. It came with fries. It was nothing to write home about but there wasn't anything standing out about it. Overall the dining experience took well over two hours. It was not busy and I didn't understand why we were not receiving good service. The waitress seemed to be seasoned and not new. I would hesitate before coming back. read more

What a shithole. Food was decent except for my wife's glop, the waitress was decent, but the bar drinks....what a disgrace. Crown and coke tasted like straight coke. My sister lives in GALAX VA. We went there for lunch today 2/15/22. We ordered the Titanic which is suppose to be a prime rib sandwich with French dip sauce. I was looking forward to it. We have ate there several times over the years & it use to be good. Unfortunately the meat was dry, over cooked & full of gristle! When I asked to see the manager my waitress informed me that he was the one that prepared our food. When the manager came to our table his response was " that is the quality meat we are getting now" i told him I would not pay for it & he just walked off. He did not seem to care nor did he offer me anything else. VERY SAD! read more

I used to enjoy a sandwich from Macado's but apparently it has succumbed to mediocrity. A club is cut in four and is a correct ratio of bacon lettuce tomato and turkey on lightly toasted white bread. Mine sandwich was on in which there was a tiny bit of bacon an entire turkey breast a tiny left of lettuce and two slice of tomato on soggy bread that was strangely covered with grease on the outside, to say it was disgusting is putting it mildly a greasy bomb put together by uncaring and Patric kitchen staff! Sadly this Roanoke classics is a place I will not waste my time and money why at again! read more

Macado's - Chicken Wings Near Me - Roanoke, Virginia

Food was ok, best to go on a weekday the lunch specials are more reasonable priced. My husband and I went on a Sunday, 2 sandwiches, we had water to drink so no drinks with tip was $30.00. The problem with this Macodos is that it's really dated. They need updating badly! The tables and surrounding areas appeared very dirty! Do we have a health department that inspects restaurants anymore? I often wonder! Honestly, our table seemed sticky, thank goodness, we did not have need to use the dirty silverware they provided. I won't return. Advice trying another macodos location (on a weekday) or a different restaurant. read more

I am a long time supporter of Macado's Roanoke and argue to many people that the sandwiches are among the best in Roanoke including but not limited to "The Sherlock Holmes, (my fav), "The Lone Ranger," "The Annie Oakley," The Bronx Bomber," "Hindenburg" and others. The atmosphere is loud, tv's for sports, fun and they serve very large goblets of cheap flat draft beer, which I appreciate. Now, I understand that COVID has destroyed the world, there is no hope for any of us and shuttering every restaurant and business is critical to saving the human race. Also, that COVID has provided both millennials and Karens with nature's perfect excuse for half-ass effort and performance in every aspect of personal and work life for the foreseeable future. However, I have recently been to the Macado's location in South Roanoke near towers a couple of times and found that it is wallowing in thick COVID mud. Management has a problem...and by problem I mean that there is none: On one occasion, I walked and the hostess/waitress at the front came up and issued me one of the most serious "eat shit" looks I have ever received (and I have gotten and deserved many in my life). The waitress speed-walked to the hostess stand and "eat-shitted" myself and party of 7 "Just for being there," [Inside Macado's joke invoking "Just to be There" slogan]. She stood there glaring at us for 2 to 4 seconds assessing the the predicament, didn't speak and speed-walked away not to return. Now, she did this because she was one of two waiters working in a restaurant that accommodates 250 customers. So the eat shit look was justified from her end but not appreciated from mine; so our party of 7 left and did not eat there. On another occasion, I phoned at 6:30 pm to ask about seating and a male employee answered the phone. He answered the phone in a long exhale that once again indicated that I should eat-shit. I asked if there were tables available and he answered that they were "trying to close" because of COVID. I didn't know if he meant there was a COVID "outbreak" happening at that moment but the way he described it made it seem like a scene from World War Z. So, my curiosity was peaked and I am a glutton for punishment so I stopped by with my party of 4 despite his warning. There was a traffic jam of customers at the hostess station where eat shit looks were being served each time one of the two overworked staff members walked by. So we left again. Summary. The world has ended, at least at Macado's Tanglewood. I suggest the management get to work, hire some additional employees and clean up their act. read more

It was hot & soft & didn't take 20 extra minutes to make. Going to talk to a manager to let them know our thoughts. Total was $30.50 after the manager took off 50% off for my wife's food & mine. Normally I love this restaurant, they're always slow but staff is friendly and food is pretty good, but I recently went and ordered a burger and onion rings and my date ordered chicken tenders and a basket of fries for us to share, no big hassle to cook right? Well we waited a long time for the food and when it finally came out it was cold. Burger had very little portions of toppings on it along with being smashed down like something had been set on top of the entire thing, onion rings were soggy because of being left out, and the fries had no salt/seasoning whatsoever. Our server was very friendly but we did not complain in fear of getting worse food if this was sent back. And later that night I found I had gotten food poisoning and was up all night. Used to love this place but will not be returning after that read more

IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING ORDERING TAKE-OUT AT MACADO'S, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: My son and I were in our sixth hour of an eight-hour trip, and with Roanoke up ahead we pushed through so that I could introduce him to what in the 1990s was a favorite, Macado's. When we walked-in to pick up our order, each of us wearing our masks, we asked the woman at the front desk whether we could walk to the bathrooms to wash our hands. She went in back to the kitchen, and returned to tell us that "the bathrooms' water isn't working, so no." (Thinking more about it, did they really expect us to believe that the employees have nowhere to go to the restroom? Excuse number one seemed like a thinly-veiled lie). When our order was ready, another woman emerged from the kitchen. She was not wearing a mask. She required me to handle the desk pen to sign the receipt. We told her that we had been on the road all day, and were visiting, and asked if we might please quickly wash our hands at the sink behind her. She said no, "we can't have customers touching the sink." Excuse number 2. I asked if she might then please turn on the water for us, and press soap into our hands, so that we could wash and eat. She gave us a curt "no." Excuse three. "Oh," she then said, "you can't cross this line," and pointed to an imaginary line that apparently makes sure that customers have nowhere to wash their hands. Excuse four. We are in the midst of a pandemic. Before you order at Macado's you better think twice. Why?: (A) Of the four employees that we observed -- two up front and two in the kitchen -- ONLY ONE OF THEM WAS WEARING A MASK, and she only wore hers part-time, pulling it on and off; and worse yet (B) According to Macado's, THEY HAVE NO RUNNING WATER IN THE BATHROOMS, so consider whether you are really in the mood for food prepared by employees who are not wearing masks, and cannot wash their hands after going to the restroom. Here is the upshot. Macado's: we went out of our way to visit your restaurant today. Your employees treated us unreasonably. Your refusal to allow traveling customers to wash their hands so that they could eat in their car was outrageous. They say a number of restaurants will not survive the pandemic downturn. Macado's, along with the no-hands-washing policy that it trotted out today and the unsanitary conditions that we observed, would be our vote for first to go. Never again. read more

I decided to take Mrs. Batman out to dinner tonight. She picked Macado's. There were a number of cars in the parking lot yet we were able to be seated right away. I have eaten at Macado's since the early 80's. The menu has not changed much. Mrs. Batman had a salad and I had a sandwich. Nothing special but it hit the spot. Now to tell you why I will not be back anytime soon. IT WAS LOUD. Not from music but from a party of about 15. They could be heard all over the restaurant. One lady came to see what was going on because she thought a fight had broken out. I later learned this was a group of high school teachers enjoying the end of the school year. I hope their students are better mannered than this group. They were yelling from one end of the table to the other. I enjoy a celebration as much as the next person but I left with a headache as bad as one I have gotten from being hit by a bat from Harley Quinn. What surprised me the most is the manager never came over to tell them to quite down. I guess he/she didn't want to lose that group and the money being made by all the alcohol being consumed. Only one drawback, it cost them my business. read more

This was my second time ordering from Macado's. The reason I ordered again, was that I had an overall great experience the first time, especially their Fried Pickle Spears, which became my favorite. But what I got today wasn't the same. What I got was nothing like what is pictured on their online menu or what I received the last time I had ordered delivery. The first picture uploaded below is what is on their menu and exactly what I got the first I order food from them. The second is what I got today and it's definitely not the same thing and I am very disappoint. Makes me feel, perhaps I shouldn't order from them again, if it's going to be a gamble on whether this was just a one time oversight. However, it does give me a pause, since there's not much I can do when I have food delivered and it isn't what I ordered. Although, I can't complain about the wings, which were pretty good, I did not received the carrot and celery sticks as advertised to come with the wings. Instead I received tortilla chips. They were homemade, so there's really nothing special about the chips. Plus, I wish I got some salsa or something for the chips. I didn't get what I paid, especially when it comes to the Fried Pickle Spears. Not to mention, again, the wings were suppose to come with celery and carrots and instead I just got tortilla chips. I guess I'll need to find another place that offers something similar to Fried Pickle Spears as it was the my favorite item from this restaurant. Thus, I can't justify giving more than 1 star with getting bother my orders so wrong. If anything I stay away from ordering delivery since it does not seem to mean much to them. If you eat-in or take-out, at least you can address the problems right there and then, but when having food delivered there's not much one can do, except avoid ordering delivery from them again, which I plan to do and plan to share with my friends who also like to order delivery. Food was great the first time, but the second time it was not. I don't understand how the quality of food can go down in less than a couple of weeks. read more
