On July 2nd, I purchased an investment, a new MacBook Pro for my daughter's 16th birthday. It will be her high school computer as well as throughout college. I researched and asked local Teachers and College students what laptop was the best, with the least problems. The Mac Book Pro was the "High End" to the prices that the others were. So I paid Mac Made Easy a visit. I asked a lot of questions to make my choice final. The older man behind the counter wouldn't explain a single thing to me. I got shrugs and short answers. I explained I was technologically challenged as well as handicapped. They simply didn't care either way. Three other people came in for smaller items or just questions. Guess what? They were treated with kindness and respect and even divulged information.I couldn't believe it. As I asked what type of wifi components I'd need, I was sold the smallest one. It has never worked and I have to use a old one my son-in-law has. I thought they'd be nicer to me after spending sssooo much money. But as normal I even got a scolding when I brought back a $%70.00 carry bag that I bought with my computer. It didn't fit my MBP and they made me pay cash instead of an equal exchange. But I watched the tourists and ili kea go in and be greeted with joy smiles and sunshine. WOW. I must have loser written on my forehead. Because they obviously are prejudiced against locals. It's like I'm wasting their time. The people at Costco were so helpful and verbal. Even the ignorant at Walmart, knew how to be pleasant and helpful. I bought my laptop. However to this day I am learning things from triaL N error. I'd spend more money there but I don't like the service. The Woman was cool and the owner is helpful and friendly when he wants to be...Next purchaser? I want either an I pad Air or and iPad 2 or a Galaxy pad but theres none who will help me honestly. While visiting Kauai last month, my Macbook Pro suddenly wouldn't even turn on. I thought I was SOL until I could take it to the Apple Store back on Oahu. But out of desperation, I checked the Yellow Pages (forced to resort to a pulp-based search!) and was pleasantly surprised to learn that there's a Mac Made Easy in Lihue! Unfortunately, Apple ended up not approving the repair of my Macbook's fatal ailment under AppleCare (another story for another time). However, the empathic and very helpful Mac Made Easy crew -- and especially Sid and Scott -- made my miserable situation so much easier that I ended up immediately buying a replacement Macbook Pro from that store, rather than waiting 'til I got home or ordering it from Amazon. I've owned (and even sold!) Apple computers since 1981, but I wrongly assumed that independent Apple dealers were now relics, regrettably driven out of business by Apple, Inc. What a happy experience to be proven wrong, wrong, wrong! by Mac Mad Easy. From now on, I'll be sure to deal only with this company -- even though I'll have to drive to waaay over to Kailua to do so :) -- and I will strongly encourage clients, associates, friends, and family members to do the same. I called the store before going. First of all the person answering the phone gave me wrong information about the product I needed. He said that they have a "good amount". Mean while, my husband also called not knowing that I already called and they told him that there was only a few left. That was confusing. Upon arriving there, no one greeted us. About after 20 minutes somebody finally talked to us because everyone in there left. Good customer service should happen when you first enter a store by being greeted first and foremost. I could've walked out and they would've lost business. I gave them a 2 because they had the products I needed in stock. Ultimately to get repeat customers you at least have to be able to cover the basics. Even though it gets busy, you always greet customers so that you know and they know that you know that there has been acknowledgment. Also, product knowledge and product inventory of workers are key. read more

Vacationing in Kauai as I do every year and decided to download a song from iTunes to my business computer that is about a 6 month old MacBook Air. Due to a "permission error" I find I can't perform this simple task. Spent over 2 hours over a 2 day period on the phone with Apple Support who not only can't fix it, but put my new computer into a state where I can no longer long on and use it, and then tell me to take it to an Apple Store when I get home in two weeks-thank you very much! Enter the guys at Mac Made Easy in Lihue. Junior, behind the desk, looks over and checks in the computer and Cleland behind the scenes takes over to do the repair and upgrade. Two hours later I have a fully functioning MacBook Air complete with iTunes access and they even install a piece of software that I bought and could not get to function due to these same "permission issues." These people are top notch, know their stuff and are friendly and a pleasure to deal with to boot. Nice selection of Mac computers, iPads and accessories in the quaint storefront setting too. I highly recommend that you visit them for all your Apple and Mac related needs while you are on the beautiful island of Kauai. When it comes to service one thing that is so disappointing, is when the workers do not acknowledge you when you walk into their store. And even more annoying, they ignore that you are standing there & services someone who walks in after you ( that inconsiderate man (not "gentleman") steps right up to be serviced even when he knows you were standing there before he even walked in). Suggestion, if the workers acknowledge customers, they might just remember who should be serviced next. How about installing a customer take- a- number system? read more

I brought my MacBook pro to these guys because it kept shutting down and rebooting, and also asked for a general cleaning. $125 later i took it home, same problem, took it back to them, where they declared it "obsolete", and they could not get parts for it. I then took it to the Computer Hospital, more of pc place, but with a lady mac person who actually knows what she's doing, and she quickly identified the problem as a bad power cable. they sold me a used one and its been fine ever since. my conclusion is those mac "genius's at mac made easy are only interested in selling you a new computer. i don't think they even have a technician. they just take it in the back, chat about it, and come back with a terminal diagnosis. "obsolete", indeed, keep running a business like this, and you'll be obsolete. read more

My daughter updated her air and somehow synced our two laptops and we were suddenly sharing my icloud. Needless to say, both of our desktops were a mess, filled with each others' info and it was so confusing. I brought my air into your store and Jonathan very courteously and patiently explained how we could remove her off of my icloud and how to delete each others info off our respective laptops. He even allowed me to videotape him as he showed step by step instructions. I was so appreciative and asked him how much I owed him, and he smiled and said that "it was an easy fix so not to worry about it and have a nice day". WOW. Give Jonathan a raise! (And for the record, I have gone into your store on a couple other occasions to purchase a replacement charger and an air cover. Always excellent customer service!) read more

Just walked in with no appointment and was immediately assisted by a nice guy named Pono. He quickly diagnosed why my MacBook Pro was not waking from sleep and did a reset. Boom! Brought in my new iPod Touch, which would not charge. They discovered a small pebble lodged in the charging port and were able to remove it with a high-tech instrument (aka small paper clip). They did the job right away, no charge. read more

HORRIBLE. I called them asking for a certain specific product and color. I was told that they have it in stock so the next day went in to purchase it but they did not have the color I asked for. I live on the north shore with an 1 hour and a half round trip. So I purchased a different color but after getting it home, did not like it. Asked my sister to return the product the following day since she was going to Lihue. Was told she needed the original credit card to return it even though she had the original receipt. So I went in the next day to return, another 1 hour and half drive, but did not need credit card or ID. Employees does not have the same information and did not find them helpful or friendly. Will not use them again. I brought two new IMACs from them last year. read more

I don't usually write reviews but just felt like I was robbed on my last purchase as this store. Make sure you check out the prices online before walking into this store. I know we are on an island, I know they need to make money for their overhead and costs, but putting prices over the recommended Retail price is just unforgivable. So, they have found niche and decided to ride it out until everyone finds out how much they are overcharging. I just purchased an hdmi cable from them today to hook to my mini display port for $39.95 and walked out thinking sheesh but ohh well guess they are pricey. This was a non apple product also. Just browsing online and found the exact same cable on Amazon for $10.99 and thats with free shipping!!! Even though that was the sale price their Suggested Retail Price was $25.99. I know that there is no way they are spending $20 then marking them up 100% which is normal for retail so this saddens me knowing that I again have no store to walk into and check out Apple products due to the feeling of getting ripped off worse than a drug dealer in a high demand market. When I arrived in Maui, my hard drive crashed. I went to the Mac store there and was told it needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to take care of it because I was flying to Kauai in a few hours. When I got here, I took it to Mac Made Easy. The technical support person (forgive me if I have his name wrong, but I believe it was Cleland) looked it over and was able to diagnose the problem as a simple repair--a wire that needed to be replaced. He was able to get my computer up and running within a few minutes. He could have just as easily told me the drive needed to be replaced and unnecessarily charged me a lot more money (like the other place wanted to) but he didn't. Instead, he properly diagnosed the problem and saved me a lot of headaches. This is what good customer service is all about. Trust goes a long way in this business and I greatly appreciate it. His priority was to get my computer running so I could enjoy my vacation. I will recommend Mac Made Easy to all my friends and assure them they are in good hands when they visit Kauai, and I will not hesitate to do business there myself when I come back.
