Just wanted to drop in and share what a wonderful experience I had making the switch over to…read moreHawaiian Telcom. Honestly, I'd been with the Spectrum for many years. But when my internet bill went up to $100 a month. I'd had enough. So I stopped by the Hawaii Telcom kiosk in Windward Mall. I met and was helped by Regina Espinoza (she gave me her card to share) . She shared about their program that is only $40/month for high speed internet, the process is locked in for 5 years, this process includes the router AND the first 2 months are free. She didn't have to tell me much more. I was sold at $40/month! She was able to set me up for install the following Wednesday, we decided on a time, afternoon. And we were set to go. On Wednesday afternoon, Robby our installer called to confirm the appointment and to let us know about what time he'd be at our home. Then he called again while he was on his way. My home is in a warehouse, so during the work day, parking can get a little tight. So I called him and told him that I'd make sure that he had a place to park. I had him park in my stall, while I ran some errands. I came home when I knew the parking lot would be clear. And Robbie was leaving to go up the road to make some kind of connection he needed for my install. He came back after a short while. He was very pleasant and courteous. He helped me download the app that I needed to complete the set up, walked me through the app set up and even helped me put my router up, off the floor, so my internet service wouldn't be so spotty. Last of all he asked if I was keeping Spectrum, I told him no way. And asked him if he'd help me take the Spectrum hardware off. He took all the PCs wrapped all the cords and put them on the floor in an easy place for me to get to. I can't express what an excellent level of excellence I received. I'm a very happy new customer and grateful to be "locked in for the next 5 years! " Big Mahalos to Regina and Robbie, for being wonderful examples of Hawaiian Tel com's excellent customer service!

2026-07-05----Original Review: Shiesty company with gaps of…read moreinformation to cover shady sales tactics. If you want to hear a true-crime story, keep reading, if not, just skip to my synopsis in the last paragraph. A seemingly nice salesman walked around our neighborhood making all kinds of sales and speed claims and price claims, et cetera. He managed to wrangle my contact info out of my dear wife so that he could contact me and inform me of my options, and my very first call is an autodial saying that I'm signed up for a service installation at some date and time they decided to choose?!! Then, I start receiving spam emails about an upcoming service install. I call them up and the man on the line with a thick accent is asking me what the name on my account is and I'm trying to explain that I never even spoke with the sales person, much less agreed to any service, much less, created an account with them. I offer my name and nope! That's not it. We finally figure out that they snaked my wife's name and they've now made up an account with her name on it and now they want me to have her authorize me to speak on her behalf?!! So basically we're now in identity theft territory. I patiently but firmly ask to make a formal complaint against this salesman who conned my wife. But surprise, surprise, the system somehow does not list the name of the salesman. (But I guarantee the company would know who to credit with the "sale" if it somehow went through, otherwise, Mr. Salesman would not be visiting houses if he isn't getting paid.) I am told that they will look into it and "if they can figure it out", they will get back to me. After pressing the agent on the phone, he admits that they actually don't really have that info available to them in their system (so obviously, they would have never called me back). Synopsis: This company is basically a black hole of starless (pun fully intended) darkness: lying and identity-thieving salespeople, zero transparency on who sold or setup our "account". It's institutionalized theft. Run, do not walk from them and for the love of Pete, do NOT give anyone who represents them or claims to represent them your contact info- Take a card (if you MUST) and tell them, that WE will call YOU (if/when we lose our minds, forget completely about this Yelp review (and the thousand like it), and are looking to begin a long term, abusive relationship, against our favor). 2026-07-06----Response to Maria (or is it Jode?) from HawaiianTelcom. I don't have time to further detail anything that hasn't already been said. If, however, you can provide proof that your sales people have been retrained to NOT sign people up for service they never agreed to, AND show proof that Hawaiian Telcom has updated their systems to have some transparency by simply allowing their own "help" department visibility into who made the sale, then I will consider revisiting my review. But until then, this is my honest experience and a warning to my friends and neighbors to not give your info to these folks. The lack of accountability seems institutionalized and if so, it would indicate that the apple is rotten to the core.

However, when I requested my satellite dishes be relocated (from rooftop to ground) due to significant rust on the supports this was the beginning of the end of our customer loyalty. The two new in-ground posts were not secured properly (at the top) and the poles/dishes moved significantly with slight wind. Random cable placement along the side of the house looked ridiculous. Excess cable (approx 3-5') was loose and stuffed behind the pole-top dish mount and the satellite reception was never obtained - no TV for 5 days. The old, rusted satellite dishes were left on the rooftop - technician stated that I needed to call-in a separate work order to have them removed to which I replied "that was my original work request". I pleaded with the technician to remove the old dishes due to safety concerns - he relented and removed the dishes but left the rusted mounts and bolts on top of the roof. The first call to customer Svc / CS that same day ended with "we'll have a technician back there tomorrow". After a no-show the following day the second call to CS was further frustrating w the CS agent stating "we have no record of your previous call". The technician actions along w the CS drama led to a 'no choice' decision - cancellation of DISH service. As of this writing we're still awaiting our $200+ reimbursement- all receivers and equipment were mailed back in June and received (tracked). Unprofessional and unacceptable customer support and service. I gotta say it (DISH) was fun while it lasted.

We called and tlan employee told us that we needed to take our box to a location. We were happy to hear that there was a location near to us. The employee that we spoke to on the phone made our transaction smooth and getting the new box was quick and also easy to find. I followed the directions given as well as followed a map and it was very easy to find. It is on the corner of Kamaaha Ave and Fort Barrette Road. You need to drive a little slow or you could miss the driveway but not hard to find at all. It is a single stand alone one story building surrounded by a fence with a green roof. When you arrive, you need to get buzzed in. The employee who helped me inside was quick and to the point. He was helpful and it was also an easy transaction. Glad that this location was close by and that I didnt need to drive all the way to town.

Back in the day they were the designated carrier that could be counted upon in crisis situations. Very reliable service. Yes we've gone through all of their upgrades to their systems. The latest " Fiber Optics " is still full of "Bugs" that prevent the system of living up to its potential. They're switching to TiVo which means all of their customers will have to eventually switch over. Unfortunately the programming they started out with is no longer available. Your DVR is obsolete and unfortunately you'll lose all of your content. When asked they speak about Upgrading the system. But the changes have not been smooth nor seamless. We would constantly lose our connection only to watch a blank or frozen screen. Not to mention the loss of programs that they no longer do business with the parent company due to expired contracts. But yet they charge us the same price. On a positive note they're going to open a new branch in the Kamakani Ali'i Mall. Hopefully a sign of better things to come.
