Kauai Computer Repair saved my trip! MAHALO! I quickly realized that I had forgotten the charger for my hp laptop during my 5-day business trip. Work would be difficult without the laptop and the battery would last 4 hours, max. Checking at Walmart, Costco, and several computer repair shops I found none available for sale or rent, maybe because the computer is older and Kauai is a small place. An online order wouldn't reach me in time. Finally, I called Kauai Computer Repair and Josh answered their phone after 7pm. He looked thru their inventory & found what I needed. In fact, they had 2 used chargers (65 & 90 watt) that would work with the hp. To be fair, the Hardware Guys in Lihue had one (which I could use in their shop) but they wouldn't rent or sell it & they closed daily at 5pm. While deciding between the 2 chargers and weighing the (reasonable) prices, I offered to rent one, since I had functioning chargers back home. Instead, Josh offered to lend the 90 watt charger for the week. This kindness allowed me to complete the business trip with a functioning laptop. The spirit of Aloha is the reason anyone comes to Kauai. Residents practice 'OHANA (treating neighbors family), MĀLAMA (stewardship), and HO'OKIPA (hospitality). Travelers are looking for 'IMI OLA (their best life), 'IKE LOA (learning), and NĀNĀ I KE KUMU (finding truth). What I found at Kauai Computer Repair, more than anything else, is ALOHA. We were on Kauai (from the mainland) for a week in Feb, when my PC laptop suddenly would not turn on. After searching for computer support services (which are not many on Kauai), I decided to contact Josh at KCR. I left my number for him to contact me, which he did later that day. After discussing the issues and symptoms, he had me try a few things to get around the start up issue; but nothing seemed to work. Suspecting that it might be a motherboard problem, we arranged for me to drop off the laptop the next day for him to inspect. He called me later that day to report that, although it would start for a short period of time but then shut off again, and the motherboard was definitely not functionally working. As I needed access to my records, and a laptop for work purposed, he recommended that I could purchase a new laptop at comparable and reasonable prices from Costco, and that he would retrieve all my data from the old laptop and setup the new laptop. After purchasing the new laptop, I delivered it to Josh and had him install the latest SSD hard drive, with all professional level software, and streamline it to avoid all the bloatware that comes with a new computer. He had it up and running and back to me in a couple of days, so that I was able to complete some necessary business, and still enjoy our last few days on Kauai. Once we were home, Josh has followed up remotely to tune up and setup some similar backup functions on our home computer and my wife's laptop. Josh ROCKS! I used to bring my laptop to Jeff @ Computer Hospital on a Quarterly basis until he Closed Shop in early 2020... I had to find another Computer Doctor, Stat!! Started calling a list of 10 companies on Kauai; Josh was the first to call back. So my computer went dead and my business was down. I called Josh and he took a look at it immediately. He found that the power supply was blown and the motherboard was throwing a short. So he volunteered to meet my wife at Costco and pick out a replacement computer. He took the computer and installed my solid state drive on it, gave it a tuneup and added needed software with me picking it up the next afternoon. Since my original computer was still under warranty, he offered to handle the whole thing and send it back to the manufacturer for repair to then be returned to me after. He went way beyond the call of duty and his price was more than fair. After I got home, he called to see how I liked the computer. I was very happy. He then helped with some software solutions via remote control with no further charge. Great guy, easy to talk to and went far beyond my expectations with computer help! Josh really helped me out and was great to work with when I had computer problems several days ago. I left my laptop on the lanai in Kauai for a couple days not understanding that the humidity was going to kill my drive. It wouldn't work at all, not even power up. I was able to get in touch with Josh over the weekend when others didn't answer the phone. When I told him it was an emergency (school and work deadlines) he let me bring the laptop in immediately despite his closing soon that day. He had it figured out, fixed and clean within an hour and a half (if that) and gave me a great deal. He also followed up with me a week later to make sure everything was running well with my laptop and helped me learn how to use Google photos, allowing me to clear up a ton of space on my Apple phone. Joshua at Kauai Computer Repair went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and satisfied. Out of anyone's control an unexpected issue popped up after original service was done and paid for. When the PC first came home. He called me right back after notifying him as soon as I turned it on, and he volunteered to troubleshoot and resolve the issue FOR FREE ASAP. He did a good amount of extra work that new issue required, FREE OF CHARGE, within two days of being notified it was resolved. Josh and his tech skills really came through for me! I accidentally broke my external hard drive, stupidly hadn't backed up anything on it, and had big projects that were on the drive due in a matter days. Josh went out of his way to help get my data off the old drive and onto a new one. This job turned out to be trickier than we thought, Josh had to solder the broken piece back onto the old drive in order to get the data off. But Josh knows what he's doing and was able to provide me with both a new backed up drive and my old, now functional drive, thanks to his talents. Hey! A few months back I was in Kauai and my battery connector for my Surface decided not to work. I was there for work and only had my computer to rely on. Phone service was terrible. Kauai Computer repair actually went out of their way to repair the connection overnight and coordinated getting it to me after hours. Very poor service and business ethics. Josh Miller took possession of equipment to diagnoses a problem. He will not return calls nor texts. I have repeatedly requested the return of my equipment and at this point, he has virtually stolen my items. Be advised that he has no advertised physical address and his business license shows "in poor standing" with DCAA State of Hawaii. Time to file a police report for stolen property! My computer would not restart after a power outage. I replaced the power supply but it still would not start. I called Josh on the phone and told him the symptons. He recommended a BIOS reset (due to his in-depth experience with Dell XPS 8300 computers). That did the trick. The computer is back to normal. His fast response saved me!
