Probably the best experience I've had ever today. I've been to many MAC locations & despite the small size, the service made up for it. Had to come by not only to get more foundation, but change what I was currently using. Winter is not kind to one's skin. The woman working today was pleasant & amazingly helpful. Sadly, this location did not have the tone of the specific product she recommended but, she phoned Nordstrom nearby for me. I was sad I wouldn't be able to purchase it from her, but she went above & beyond to help me get what I needed. I'll definitely be returning soon. read more

I dropped in to inquire about the recycling program since I've been saving my empty makeup containers. 6 empty or expired containers will get you a free lipstick. I had a GREAT experience here over the weekend. I graduated from my masters program at and went to get my makeup done in the morning, around 12pm. Chicago finally decided to embrace summer and in the midst of a heat wave so I needed something that would make me feel beautiful, last several hours, and also not melt off of my face. Natalie could not have gotten it more right. I told her the color of my dress and she immediately went to work. Even though I didn't have an appointment and she had to step away to assist other clients, I felt absolutely catered to. I received so many compliments on my makeup that I refused to take it off the next day. Natalie had never met me and had never seen my dress but picked the perfect lashes (my first time wearing them!), perfect eye color and perfect lip to bring everything together. I ended up spending nearly $100 (clearly not hard to do at Mac but I don't usually wear or use Mac products) and will likely repurchase them all. Highly recommend! read more

As much as I want to give 0 stars, it wasn't an option. I was looking around for a good 5-10 min & was NEVER approached by a single employee. I wanted to find a shade in foundation that was similar to a foundation that I bought at Sephora by NARS, after no help or greeting whatsoever, I decided to leave. Horrible hospitality, I'll be sticking to Sephora & NARS for the long run. Staff needs to be reminded about customer service, this placed sucked. read more

I came in last week to get my makeup done and was put on the waiting list because I did not have an appointment. Although they were really busy, the wait was not too bad. The staff was really friendly and Laura was able to take care of me. I don't usually wear makeup, so I asked her to do my full face and she did an amazing job! Having your makeup done also requires a $50 purchase, which isn't too bad considering you can just buy some of the products that were used on you. I will definitely be going back to Laura if I ever have to get my makeup done for an event again. Great experience! read more

I went in Nordstrom last weekend to get my makeup done. They were packed but were able to squeeze me in. The girls who worked there were so nice. Nora did my makeup she had great recommendations for what will look good with mt complexion. She gave me a cut crease look for my shadow and great falsies as well. I can't put on fake eyelashes to save my life, but the whole time she was teaching me what she was doing :) I recommended her to all of my friends! read more

They were super sweet! Did a walk-in consultation for my birthday and had Laura do my mom's make up and my mom looked ahhhmazing! They were so friendly and it wasn't that busy when we went around 11am. They knew we were gonna go out for dinner so they knew how to prolong the look. I went into the Mac counter at Nordstrom in Old Orchard mall on Saturday August 19 and had a very unexpected experience. The first thought I had was they were going to be busy considering it was a Saturday morning but surprisingly it wasn't too busy. I wanted to ONLY get my eyeliner done by someone, I had a baby shower I was organizing and I didn't want to be a bother and ask for my full eyes to get done so I thought I was being helpful if I asked one of the girls to throw some liner on me and I'll buy a couple of things since I needed to buy lipstick and eyeshadow anyhow. Boy was I wrong. I walked to the counter and everyone just kind of stared at me. I looked around for a couple of minutes until someone asked if I needed something. The girl that asked me was Sandra and she was busy doing someone's makeup. I asked her if any one can do my eyeliner really quick and I'll purchase a couple of products. She rolled her eyes and clearly seemed bothered and said she'll ask her manager if that's ok? lol really??? Ok.... she then comes back and says yeah it's fine. Keep in mind it was not busy at all. So I sat in her chair and apologized for interrupting her and her customers time. She then tells me that the girl that was sitting in her chair wasn't a customer, she was a co-worker and they were having playtime. Hmmm so I was a bother because you were too busy having play time? Ok great. She finishes one eye and says, "ok, now let me see you do the other eye." Huh? What? I'm confused... I said no I suck at doing liner and I have an event so I just wanted you to do it for me and I'll buy products. She remains quiet. As she's working on the other eye I'm guessing her regular customer walked in so she stopped doing my liner to chat. This is so awkward. Since when are these mac girls too cool to work there? Anyway, she gets done doing my liner finally and since I felt so uncomfortable I didn't really look in the mirror and told her the 2 products I needed. Sandra ( I'm pretty sure that's her name) got them for me and started to check me out. I took a second look in the mirror and really wanted it to be a bit thicker which was what I originally said to her but she obviously wasn't listening nor cared what I wanted. So instead of biting my tongue and running out of there I again asked her politely, can you please just make the ends a bit thicker and winged out? I looked down to sign my receipt and as I looked up at her she bulged her eyes at her manager (the this customer is SO annoying look) and as I caught her the manager snaps her head at me with a smile. She was clearly covering up for her rude associate. WOW!!!!! I now officially hate Mac. I wish I can just return what I bought from her but I do need the products so I won't but way to go guys! You're just too cool to help customers these days! read more

Went in to have my make up done for a much needed date night with the hubby and Natalia did my make up. She was so sweet and EXTREMELY PATIENT considering I had my antsy 3 yr with me. I went in there without a clue of what I wanted. All I said was "I want to look pretty, but not like I tried too hard." We laughed and she did just that. I couldn't have been happier, she even gave my daughter a mini makeup session (sheer pink lipgloss) so she didnt feel left out. I went in a few days later to exchange a bronzer that was too dark for my fair skin. Natalia was caring for another client so I had the pleasure of meeting Abby. Abby is amazing. She helped me find a foundation that matches my skin perfectly. I bought the biggest eyeshadow kit they had, mascara and the eyeliner gel. Abby was also very sweet and patient explaining everything to me. I don't understand where all the bad reviews are coming from. All the girls at the Macy's mac counter are kind and professional. If they aren't "being attentive" to you, it's because they're helping someone else. They don't rush you out to make the next sale and that's what I love. They take their time and give every costumer the attention and time they deserve. So be patient and wait your turn like everyone else does. They are NOT purposely trying to ignore you. Everyone gets so offended if they have to wait. Not sure when this epidemic of self-righteous, entitled behavior took over but if anyone deserves a poor rating it's the clients not the artists. **I am in no way affiliated with MAC and only met these lovely ladies 4 weeks ago when I FINALLY started learning how to apply makeup. The girls at this Mac location are always very snobby and uptight when you tell them that you may not care for a certain particular look. That's why I drive all the way to Northbrook, where the makeup artists there actually know what they are doing and will spend the time working on you, until you are satisfied. Staff is snobby and make you feel uncomfortable when looking through stuff. They just stare at you blankly and are barely any help when looking for product. I went by Saturday looking for some things and asked one the workers if they had a travel size of a product and all I was a scoff and a "no.......(long pause)....sorry" and she immediately walked away to talk with her cowoker, she was this older lady with a moustache, and they eyed me for the remainder of my visit. I obviously needed help and went in hoping to buy a couple things, but I was ignored. Terrible, terrible customer service. read more

I don't write reviews most of the time, but when I stopped by MAC to get an eyeliner and a blush I stood there awkwardly for over five minutes waiting to see if anyone would help me out. But no, two or three of the girls were busy reuniting with some old friends and they stood around talking and squaling. I even made eye contact with them and I was not helped. I spend a lot of money here and usually I know what I want. But when I ask for suggestions or recommendations, I expect them to do their job and try to help. I understand that this is inside Macys, but these associates do not seem at all excited about helping customers and do not seem to have the knowledge to provide assistance when needed.
