However, every now and then I need to venture to a professional to get a trim or to simply give myself a break and Studio SLK is the only place I trust. Studio SLK is clean and comfortable, not to mention well decorated. The prices are reasonable and about what you'd expect for any of the services provided. During my most recent visit, while I was getting a haircut, two other ladies were getting relaxers, another was getting a blow out, and another was getting a sew-in. Marta is very busy because of her demand so I asked her for her opinion on who I should use for both my sons haircuts and she suggested Nikki. Apologies if I spelled her name wrong. But, Wow! At the washing dish.......completely stripped blonde hair that Marta said was "perfect," but suggested a $25 extra fee of toner to neutralize. LOL!!!! -All the other photos are of my hair. There is no comparison to what she did to me and what she posts of her Instagram. I truly think the photos she posts are not of her work. I never thought I'd ever be one to write such a review. The salon experience and customer service I received at Salon Pure 11/5/2019 which continues today 11/20/2019 has been an absolute nightmare. Marta T, NEW owner of Salon Pure seems to have learned her business management skills from the previous owner Adriana. I trusted Marta to balayage my NATURAL, VIRGIN hair from a strong recommendation by a co-worker of mine. I ignored the reviews from when the previous owner Adriana ran the salon but clearly nothing has changed here. To begin my experience, a week prior to my balayage nightmare from OWNER Marta, I came for a quick 1 inch trim and blow out. $85 before tip. No problem, I thought...except for the fact my blow out did not last more than ONE day. I called her the next day and told her I still want to get my balayage done by her but not to do a blowout service. First note, inside salon is COLD. Cold inside on both service days I came. The day I came in for my balayage was 30 degrees outside. *keep this in mind while story continues* I showed Marta what I wanted from her Instagram page (@traveramarta) on an actual balayage she posted that *she* "completed." I told her if it were to turn a *little* more blonde, I would be ok with it. She did NOT show me color swatch book. She proceeded mixing and hand painting the color on my hair and applied plastic wrap in true balayage style. When at washing station and Marta is washing my hair, she said my hair lifted a *beautiful* blonde and I won't need to tone, BUT IF I WANTED TO, it would cost another $25. Weird, I thought...considering I haven't even seen it and she already is talking about how *perfect* it lifted YET there is a fee to tone... I OBVIOUSLY was SHOCKED to see YELLOW bleach blonde stripped hair that Marta claimed was "perfect." I was almost in tears and told her we MUST tone. We went back to the washing station and began toning. When she rinsed out, Marta simply dried my face framing section. It was clearly nothing like the photos I showed her but I thought, it's ok, I can make it work as it was my first time ever coloring my hair. Remember how I said I called the day before about removing the blow out service (which costs $50 and previously only lasted me one day)...well after Marta dried my face frame, she expected me to leave with soaking WET hair in 30 degree weather. I have never been to a salon that does not do a rough dry, which especially seems unheard of after a COLOR SESSION! I had to blow dry my own hair while Marta went on to color another guest. The following days, I would run into friends who ask what happened to my hair. The outcome I am left with was nothing close to a balayage. Marta gave me chunky orange highlights and let me leave thinking I looked GOOD! As of today (11/20), I am ****STILL**** waiting for a refund. I have damage to what was once beautiful, virgin hair. Marta claims it is "virtually impossible to duplicate a hair color," but a TRUE PROFESSIONAL (btw she claims is she a Matrix Educator....I am contacting Matrix over this too...) would LOVE to work with never before processed hair. Marta told me that I am taking advantage of her. My final result and attached photos will tell you differently. My salon service was $145 and I asked her for $200 back. I believe this was reasonable since the correction for HER ERROR will cost more than $145. Marta, OWNER, is GREEDY and has NO customer service skills. She does not reply to me to resolve this amicably and switched from offering me a refund of $145 to saying her FINAL OFFER since I am "TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HER" is $145 of **CREDIT** to come back to her salon. -- LOL NO WAY! This whole situation has been a nightmare and a normal salon owner would admit their MASSIVE error, but instead, here I am, writing this review for the world to see on every platform I can share it on. I cannot see this new salon being successful in Glenview. The business practices are horrendous and the services match. Cheers.

Hair was washed (long curly thick asian hair), combed without tangles (and the complaints), and cut, dried and styled for $35. Plus I got my threading for free! (Which Mary did a great clean up job on). Can't beat that price and friendly service, especially in downtown evanston. Romelia disappeared and left me in the chair for over an hour with bleach on my hair while she did laundry/other things. My hair is absolutely fried, I had bleach spots that did not blend, the hair all around my face completely broke off, which will take YEARS to grow back and I was charged for a bayalage, even though she only did a partial highlight. And the worst part is that I reached out to her in an extremely kind manner to resolve this multiple times and she has taken zero accountability for her mistakes. In fact, she read my message I wrote in tears and chose not to respond for 4 days (although she had time to continue posting on instagram) which is extremely unprofessional. I went into the salon with inspiration photos but also seeking Romelia's advice because I told her I wanted to go blonde but my most important goal was to maintain the integrity of my hair. She told me she could do what I asked without a problem or damage. I left with yellow hair, bleach spots throughout and my hair looked like a skunk in a ponytail by how streaky she left it. It was not blended at all and within 2 days, all the hair around my face began breaking off. I messaged her with photos and she asked me to come back in to fix it. I asked her if we could do a root melt to blend my base color into the highlights and tone my hair to fix the brassy blonde. She told me the only two toners in the industry that were available were warm and ash. I know that color is a wide spectrum and that this was not true. I told her I didn't want to be grey and that is exactly how she toned my hair anyways. At the end, I told her I no longer felt blonde and wasn't sure I would get used to it. She told me that she would not charge me and then asked if I wanted a few waves in my hair, I told her yes if she had time and then she proceeded to charge me $50 styling for waves that took her 2 mins and fell out within an hour. A true professional can admit their wrongs and also admit when they don't know how to fix their mistakes (therefore referring you to someone else). I left with grey hair, more bleach spots and my hair falling out into even further chunks. I had to get bangs today by another stylist just to try to hide the damage because my hair is 3 inches long in the front and along the sides now. I have huge holes in my hair (that goes down to my mid back) that I will now need extensions to fill in for the next several years while it grows back. Every stylist in the salon that fixed my hair was shocked at the amount of overprocessing and breakage I had. PLEASE learn from my mistake and do not go here if you value your hair/sanity. These people are crooks and have no idea what they're doing!! Photos posted are of the breakage/bleach spots after the first session and continued breakage after the second. Even after telling the owner that I don't think there's enough highlights when she started blow drying my hair, she insisted it was just the lighting in the room. (Keep in mind there are a lot of lights shining down In the salon plus the natural light from the big windows) But after my daughter arrived she could also tell it looked nothing like what I asked. It almost looked like what was left over from my previous highlights was the only ones there. So we asked the owner if she could do something because it really didn't look like she added enough highlights especially for the cost, but she proceeded to be very rude about the situation and kept trying to insist it was the lighting. After a little bit of explaining how even with lighting it didn't look like anything what I asked for, she finally caved in to add more. Even after adding more it did not look good, like she was in a rush. Overall, she is very unprofessional and rude.
