I used to come here as a teen when they were sister shops with the nail salon on havenscourt. I was doing my own lashes and they would always try to convince me to come work there but I didn't get the power and talent I had back then. Fast forward til today and they still do my feet the best. I've been to several technicians and have had mediocre service. Yes they'll will complain sometimes but if you know them then you know. I hadn't been here in over 20yrs and they still knew me and did my eyebrows bomb as they used to and treats my daughter like a Princess every time she comes here. We are every two weekers and love the selection of colors. I just wish they did gel x. Definitely need some remodeling on the inside but to each its own. I know I take terrible photos sometimes. First ! Let's give them their props for remaining open and strong after their whole shop/building burnt to the ground about 2 years ago ! Now let's get to it . I've been coming here for years this is definitely one of the staples in east Oakland for nails . Very reasonably priced ( I just came in yesterday for wax eyebrow/lip and pedicure for 40$ ) Andy is very good at nails and they'll pretty much do whatever you ask them too ( if they have the material ) which brings me to one of my first little complaints lol . You get what you pay for . I notice a lot of shops in Oakland are outdated when it comes to all the new trends and art with nails now a days ! Get some more material I promise you'll make more money you guys !!! The inside of the shop is big , not cluttered . There's about 6 chairs for pedicures and 5 nail chairs . They always clean the bowls for you and use a plastic lining which makes me feel better about cleanliness lol . All in all it's a decent shop, I wouldn't recommend making an appointment because they're always busy ! I'm giving 5 stars for the nails only. When my husband and I walked in i spoke as anyone should NOBODY spoke, So i spoke again nobody said anything the third time someone spoke. It was just a weird and uncomfortable first impression. I pay good money for my nails and have NO problem paying good money. Now as we were getting our feet done Andy came and started my nails i brought my own acrylic and he was slightly shocked and hesitant but he did so after speaking to us i guess they realized we wasnt ghetto and engaged in convo more. Which is offensive. My nails turned out GREAT he did a LOVELY job, and for that ONLY will i be returning. My feet was nice as well, my husbands feet came out nice i just wish i could have recieved a little more scrubbing but other than the horrible customer service the nails was great my feet were great as well. Also the lady was laying on the couch lazy, on the phone, another was on the phone with her shoes off neither of them budged when we came in. It was like pulling teeth on who was going to do our feet. Smh If they took a quality customer service training course i believe they'd get a hell of alot more traffic coming in. read more

They used to be located across the street - but an arsonist burned that complex down (that's another story). Linh Le is the best waxer in Oakland!! She is consistent, diligent, and efficient. She is a perfectionist. She likes to make sure that you're right before she lets you go-no matter how many more customers are waiting. MacArthur Nails has been nothing less than dependable. Whenever I come here, I know for certain that I'll be satisfied. The wait is hit or miss - I tend to plan around paydays and holidays so that I can avoid a long wait time. They are typically busy all day - with some soft spots in between (you have to come at random times and cross your fingers). This place has been a fixture in Oakland forever and I've been coming to get my nails and brows hit here for a while, so I consider myself well-qualified (although maybe a little late) to write this review. The staff here is all great but for nails I love to work with Andy. The name of the woman who is the best for brows is failing me but if you go in, you'll probably see everyone else requesting her services too, which can sometimes mean a wait. The prices are great, leaving you with a few extra towards the tip! I am a regular here. Amazing and sweet people, all I can say. Linh does my eyebrows only cost around $8 and she never messes up, she's incredible. Wherever I go, everyone compliments me on my brows. The wax is non-irritable to the skin and she gives you aloe after just in case. Whole place is respectful, money is not an issue, and they are all very nice. read more

I dont know what happened to this nail salon or their custom service. I waited an hour. There was minimal communication with forced effort on my part. They took 5. 1.2.3.4.5. People before me. I get my eyebrows down here all the time! Really nice people. I've never had to wait forever either, which is cool. I like that it's only $6 for eyebrow wax and shape. Plus the wax they use has never irritated my skin, which is rare because I have sensitive skin. I'm going in the morning to get my brows done! My only not favorite part is the parking. I have been coming to Mac Arthur nails for the last past 8 years...Me and the lady that does the eyebrows and eyelashes has this special thing where she will do my eyebrows n if I happen to have eyelashes the strips she will put them on for me and only charge me for the eyebrow services the most I ever paid her for this service was Between $7-9 so this Friday I go in to get just my eyebrows n eyelashes done she does the service I ask her how much she says $14 I'm like wait you never charge me that before there was some girls in there who overheard our conversation and decided to put their two cents in saying they never do that for free I commented I don't have a reason to lie n me her have this special relationship where she does it for me in the midst of me going bk forth with her n the girls you can tell she was nervous about lower the price because of how the other girls was reacting I went ahead and paid her to avoid drama not only with her also with the other girls in the shop I do not appreciate this I knew how much I wanted to spend she set me bk by charging me that price and I don't appreciate not being loyal to me as a customer that's been coming to her for years this is like the second or 3 time they have did something to me that pissed me off and made me wanna stop going to them this is the last straw I'm no longer going bk to them ever n if I do I'll just have her do my eyebrows but since she wanted to be fake that day because it was a bunch of women n the shop she will never do my eyelashes again!Also if your looking for a nice place to relax and chill to get your nails done or whatever this is not the place you wanna go a lot of females from the hood go there it's loud it's ratchet and it's ghetto all of the females fight over the guy Andy that does nails he was one of my favorites at first until I found out that everybody and they mommma likes them doing their nails I use to love this place now it's time for me to move on especially with that unprofessional un-loyal move the lady just did I can't take it no-more I find something better it's a turn off too that seems like most people in east Oakland go there also I never really see them clean their spa chairs out really good read more

I love this place, as the staff is always friendly and courteous. For acrylics, ANDY is your man. He is the BEST here, and is quick while doing a great job! Prices are reasonable. If you are looking for lashes, one word of caution....I had some put on (individual lashes) and she must have used some sort of super glue - I kid you not. 3 weeks later they were STILL on. I had had enough, and lost most of my real eyelashes while taking these off. ASK ABOUT THE GLUE, as the first time I had them applied this was NOT the case. I would have given 4 stars, had this not happened. read more

The quality of work is very good and prices are standard and reasonable. I would give 5 stars except the clientele can be a little rowdy so that takes away from the relaxation factor. I also saw that they can get busy so arriving early is key to getting in and out fast. read more
