When it was Longmeadow Eyecare in the Longmeadow Shopping Center, the office staff was welcoming, engaging, and great at addressing patient needs as soon as you walked into the door. Since it has moved to Conamar Drive and taken the name "Vision 2020" I am hugely disappointed. The staff is unprofessional, uninviting, and acts like the patients are a fruit fly buzzing around their meal. Dr. Agostini is still the same and without her I would have gone to a new practice long ago. It was mentioned loudly at my last visit that they rarely clean vital lenses for pictures of the eye causing images to have artifacts. The order in which patients are taken back and addressed needs work, I was taken after two people merely because I had a contact exam. There is no reason that the staff should be trying on glasses when there is a line of people waiting to be helped. The main front desk employee, whom I have communicated with in person and on the phone, doesn't seem to know what she is doing at all. I had to help her! I don't know what is going on there, but it needs to be fixed or many people will be moving on to new practices!

I don't feel as if I need new lenses already. The doctor explained to me, in a way I could understand, why my previous prescriptions weren't suiting me. I appreciated his taking the time to do that for me. Choosing the frames is always difficult for me because of the strength of my prescription and because I have a narrow face. I usually end up looking at children's frames! But Mt. Airy had a nice selection of frames that fit my face, and a special line that could be adjusted to fit. That pair has become my favorite pair (I bought two pairs of glasses). The doctor reviewed my order before it was filled and made a suggested change to improve my close-work glasses that actually meant I was spending less money. In other words, they were motivated to give me the right glasses, not just make the most money. I'm very happy with the care and product I received. My only criticism is the office was very small but I think they just moved so I'm looking forward to visiting them again when the time comes to get checked again so I can see their new place.

With 50 years of experience under her belt and specialized equipment on-site, she had my frames repaired and custom-fitted better than they ever before--master-level service and true old-school customer care. I had determined I would not go back to the chain store that didn't even bother to fit my expensive eyewear just two months ago when I purchased them. When the hinge pulled out, I was dismayed. I'm so glad that I decided that I wanted truly good service and was willing to pay for it. Not only was I astounded by Julia's skill and the level of service, Julia didn't charge me. The last place I went to, years ago, nearer my home in Westminster, featured an aging German couple who started out lacking any sense of customer service, and degenerated into outright hostility when it came down to working with insurance. So, having no clue where to start ... I walked into an "optician" shop not too far from downtown Frederick - and they only did glasses, but said they'd made plenty of referrals and got back plenty of raves for the eye exam by Dr. John. Sure enough, Dr. John not only gave me the exam, he gave full explanation of everything he was doing, including checks for health issues not directly related to vision (did you know they can spot early indications of diabetes, MS, kidney issues, and more from an eye exam??). Dr. John also answered lots of questions and worked through various scenarios on how I'd actually use the glasses (e.g. computer screen, skiing, whatever), to come up with a good solution. Plus it's no fuss - the exam fee includes all my follow up visits while I'm trying out some contacts. Recommended.
