He didn't get back until 530 and still didn't have the parts needed. He left the water off this whole time. When he said he was done he showed me the valve leaking still and upon further inspection the next day, the 2 other valves were also leaking now. When I asked how much I owed him, he said let's just say 220.00! He told me he was charging me for his time running around looking for the valve parts. He also mentioned he went home for lunch for part of that time. Needless to say I didn't pay this guy 220.00. Be careful when doing business with this company. I could see him taking advantage of people for jobs that never were completed. I chose this company because of the yelp reviews but hopefully this will make people at least be careful.

Upon returning from his vacation, Adrian set up a time to come and repair my valves. One of the repaired valves had a leak that wasn't evident until the next morning. I texted Adrian about the issue, and he dealt with it that day. Adrian was great at responding to my texts, being both friendly and professional. He showed up when he said he would. Adrian may be a little more expensive than some ($300.00), but I would gladly pay more to deal with someone prompt and reliable. I would use De Jong in the future.

They were courteous and professional in demeanor, which I valued. Unfortunately, the quality of the work did not match the price. Several areas of my yard were left uncleared, trimmings were not cleaned up, and there was little attention paid to garden features like solar lights. I requested a return visit to address what was missed, which they did--but the initial lack of detail was disappointing. Most frustrating was when a shovel of soil was tossed over my koi pond, leaving it full of dirt. I had to spend hours restoring the water quality myself. I do have photos documenting the issues. Overall, the experience was a mix--good intentions, kind workers, but a lack of follow-through and care in execution. I hope they grow from this, as they clearly have potential with better oversight.

I will start by saying I am devastated to have to give such a poor review of a local company…read more My family and I have always used Focal Point. In the past few years something has changed. I had family members stop using them as they claimed the yards delivered were consistently short. Due to their customer service and family nature- I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Long story short- I ordered 3/4 "clean" black chip in the quantity of 2 yards. It showed up and while it looked rather blue and light- I was told it was black chip rock. Despite my reservations I accepted it and moved on. A mere 4 days later- I ordered an additional yard of the exact same product to the front area adjacent. It showed up and was a COMPLETELY different color. We are talking a 30-50% variance in color, not a natural variance as they kept reiterating on the phone. Upon checking their website- we were absolutely delivered sierra blue rock the first go around. Rather than owning their mistake- I received a call back from the owner insisting he was right and giving me the riot act of excuses. He also mentioned another house he had botched with 5 yards of material and told me "the bad review wasnt worth fixing it." This was after speaking to the wife and repeatedly being asked "well what do you want us to do about it." I finally got the husband to agree to give me the weekend and "drop off some buckets of the lighter color to mix in if your still unhappy" I gave it the weekend, and rinsed the rock several times as instructed by the owner despite ordering "clean" rock. It did nothing, its absolutely the wrong rock. Upon calling- I was now told despite the rinsing and giving it the weekend and texting pictures of what is CLEARLY a different rock. A refund was the best they would do and I needed to drive down there to get it. Not only that, but the delivery would NOT be refunded, because "that happened." No buckets of rock, no replacement yard, no offer to pick up their mistake. In fact, during the refund the owner said "I really dont think i should do this" to imply they still werent wrong. I really hope YELP allows me to post a photo after this to show you all how distasteful the lack of ownership was. USE SUTHERLAND DESPITE THEIR FLAWS.

They ended up blowing us off, returned only one phone call out of many, and never followed through. From what I can gather from this conduct is that they never intended to do the work in the first place. I could be incorrect about this, but their conduct speaks for itself. Ultimately it wasted our time when we could have hired someone else to do the work. We are very disappointed and never expected this treatment. We had preferred them b/c they know the irrigation system, and would be unlikely to damage it when landscaping the yard. Also, their prices are reasonable. Again, very unfortunate and unnecessary! We have experienced better, but not in Chico, CA where we currently reside.
