We have used North Valley Tree Service twice in the past couple of years. The first time was to remove three River Birch trees in our back yard, and grind the stumps. Recently they returned to reduce the canopy, and shape the remaining 2 River Birch in the back yard. Additionaly they removed 1 River Birch in the front yard, ground the stump. trimmed a large butterfly shrub, and shaped. . I could go on with the extra's they provided at not cost but this review would resemble an epistle. Needless to say they chipped the brush and did a great job of clean up. There was a crew of three , and all of them were professional, knowledgeable , and polite. Also, a pat on the back to Andy who was our initial contact on both occasions. Pedro's crew came out and did a fantastic job. They cut down dead growth on old walnuts, removed an invasive palm and ground the stump, removed all sorts of shrubs, cleared branches that were touching our roof. They arrived right on time and worked for 8 hours with a small lunch break. Really skillful, professional, and courteous group of guys. Would recommend them to anyone. Caused extensive damage not only to dozens of plants, but also destroyed multiple irrigation sprinklers, drippers, the irrigation timer, and even the spigot itself. WOW! I had a great experience from start to finish. Scheduling the consultation was swift. The arborist addressed my concerns and made a plan to fit my budget and time frames. We had few snafus with the quote and had to follow up ourselves, but once corrected the crew showed up right on time. Pedro, Elmer, and Christian were spectacular! Professional, efficient, energetic, and thorough. They worked together like athletes to remove a row of overgrown privet trees and trees of Heaven that were wound around power lines. Right off the bat, this was the best tree service I contacted. Their estimator came out within a few days as compared to a few weeks from the "other" company. And, his bid was ONE-HALF the amount of the "other" company. The crew showed up a few weeks later to remove a giant (70 ft.) Raywood ash tree and thin another. They were the epitome of courteous professionalism -- very efficient, industrious and careful. My lawn, my sprinklers, my wrought iron fence and my woodpile were preserved totally from any damage. They cut up the tree in the 16" rounds I requested (to be split later for more firewood), and piled all the wood right where I wanted it. On a recent extremely windy day, a very large branch from a tree next to my house broke and landed on our roof. I was inside when it happened and man was it loud! It turned out that the tree split down the trunk when the branch came down, leaving the tree in a precarious condition. North Valley Tree Service responded within 2 hours and brought a crew to remove the large broken branch and a few others that looked like they may also break. Later, an arborist came to look at it, advised that the tree needed to come down completely and scheduled a date for the work. When they returned, they brought 3 huge trucks and a crew of at least 6 guys and the large tree was safely and quickly removed within about 2 hours. They ground the stump out and cleaned up my yard nicely when the were done. I can't comment on price, because I did not have to pay (my landlord paid), but I can comment on the professionalism and high level of service that they practice while doing their job. I was happy with the service and results and recommend them. read more

My mother and her husband lost their home and a rental property in the fire. They were able to purchase a new travel trailer and have been living in it for a few weeks now. They are currently staying behind a local business until we can install an RV pad and hookups on the side of our house. To do this, we need to do a major clean up which first entailed removing an old tree stump. Yesterday I called several tree removal companies in the Chico area to see about getting an estimate for this work. I did not want to say why we needed this work done, I just wanted a fair price. During these calls, I encounter companies that told me they were too busy to be bothered with such a small job to downright rudeness and shock that I would be asking for work in my yard when there was so much work to be done in Paradise. Feeling defeated I made one more call to North Valley Tree Service. The women who answered the phone was polite, kind and patient with me. She said she would have someone out by the end of the day. Mike showed up to look at what we needed to be done. I introduced him to my moms' husband, and we told him we needed the work done in preparation for an RV pad, so they would have a permeant place to live. Mike said he would have an estimate to us within an hour or so. Within about an hour, Mike was back with truck working on our side yard removing old logs and then back again the next morning to grind out the stump. They were all gracious and helpful from begging to end, and the price cannot be beat. The service and people working at North Valley Tree Service are fantastic! They sent out a team of four men to cut down three ~ 100' pine trees today. They were amazing to watch, cutting branch by branch and then into sections, lowering pieces with about a nine foot space between the roof and a fence, harming neither in the process. They cut downed wood as requested, moved it to accessible areas and out of the way. They cleaned up the debris as if they were never here. And they even were creative and cut one stump into a chair that's by our fire pit! Truly professional: from Scott, the arborist who inspected and bid on the job, Ashley who emailed promptly to answer my questions, and the working team today. We will be using them again! read more

Had a tree removed earlier this year. Was impressed with how knowledgeable they were - it made me feel more comfortable going with this company in comparison to another. The other company barely talked to me at all, just looked and took notes. NVTS took the time to tell me what kind of tree I was dealing with. The yard looked as though the tree had never been there, and on top of that I arrived home to find that they had also pruned the tree in my front yard and swept up my driveway. So nice! read more

They never showed up for their appointment to give me an estimate. When I called, no apology and a lot of whining about wanting to only work on big jobs. He even complained about the "girls" who work for him making appointments for little jobs out of town. Very unprofessional and I speculate this behavior would surface again during a job. read more

I have used NVTS in the past and have been very satisfied. My wife contacted the company to get an estimate to have a plum tree removed from our front yard. Unfortunately, the company never called to schedule an appointment; even though my wife made multiple calls. I finally got tired of waiting and borrowed a chain saw and rented a stump grinder and removed the tree myself. Horrible customer service (IMHO)! read more

NVTS came out to trim several huge 80+ year old trees prior to my son's wedding at our property. They deferred trimming a palm tree due to nesting owls and came back after they had fledged to finish the job. They did great work and left the property clean and in better condition then when they arrived. The day before the wedding, two giant limbs from different trees broke off. One was hanging precariously over the planned dance floor. NVTS completed other scheduled work and extended their work day to take care of my emergency. Again great job and clean up.
