Horrendous service - this is an older pizza place and I wanted to like it. I've never been and for the first time went today for some football pizza pies for the house. An older white haired guy with an accent took my order and when it was ready simply put the boxes in the counter and pointed to me. Call me old school but a smile and a thanks certainly still goes a long way... I asked if those were my pies. He nodded without a word and walked away after putting a credit card slip and pen on the counter. I get it that he's a popular place and seems to have the monopoly in the area. I however am not from the area and won't return as this was a "gotta try it" decision. Message for ownership -- Appreciate your customers and maybe you will have more consistent business. As for the pizza, it was simply an unremarkable "meh", and didn't blow me away. With all the Italian and pizza spots in Jersey there are so many better experiences and better tasting also out there. Very old school looking Pizzeria. Looks like the building is straight out of the late 70's / early 80's. This is mostly a take out place I find. Food wise is great. Pizza has a good amount of cheese and toppings. The Sicilian Pizza is the best here. The hot sandwiches worth a try. Chicken Parmesan sandwich is my favorite here. read more

I love the pizza here. This is my favorite place to pick up a pie. The texture of the dough, the cheese and the sauce are all perfect. The staff are all the same people who have been there for many years and I assume it is a family owned business. These guys know how to make pizza. Far to often you go to a pizza place and everything is pre-made or the guy making the pies has only been at it a few weeks. Not at M&S. You can tell Pizza is their life. I have been going here for many years and they have consistently been the best. I remember coming here as a kid with my dad and sitting at the tables drinking the grape juice. They always had cups from other restaurants that I had never heard of (Must buy them as surplus). The memories that come back each time I walk in the door makes this #1 automatically for pizza in my book. read more

I ordered a large pepperoni pie. They were quite generous with the pepperoni. That being said, the crust was floppy, not crispy at all. The sauce was over-salty, and there was far too much cheese. They did not cut the pie well either. They did not cut through the crust at all, and I need my slicer just to take slices out of the box. The crust was so floppy, that the cheese and pepperoni fell off of the front of the slice. I'm in town from Alabama for work and my girlfriend, who is from New Jersey originally, told me I had to try local pizza and subs. She swore up and down That anything I could get here would be worlds above what I can get in Alabama. So I went to M&S and I got a couple slices of pepperoni pizza and a peppers and sausage sub. I was utterly amazed at how good the bread for the sub was, the pizza crust was crunchy and chewy at the same time, and was better than any pizza I've ever eaten before in my life and so was the sub. read more

Good tasting pizza! Perfect balance between cheese, sauce and dough. Old school feel pizzeria is hard to find these days in Jersey. The guys behind the counter even look the part! Furniture is all wooden and old school. I also get the strombolis as well. Not the best, but above average for a pizzeria. If you really want good strobolis, head down by Rutgers, on Easton Ave and go to Stuff Yer Face =) Another thing worth noting that M&S has are their unique drinks. Let me be very clear in sighting my credibility on food on matters. I have lived and worked in Bergen County for a few years and have many drunken nights in NYC. Living back in Rockaway I can clearly and absolutely without a doubt say this is my favorite pizzeria. A few deciding factors let me point to this simple conclusions. First) For as long as I can remember, it's been the same three guys in there everytime I walk in. Weekend, weekday, day or night. The old man with white hair, the heavy set gentlemen and the other fellow wearing glasses. Second) For as long as I can remember, they have NEVER delivered. A pizza place in this day and age that doesn't deliver and still be in the business? What does that tell you about this place? That people are willing to drive and pick up their food because it is just that good. I have had chicken parm subs (phenomenal), meatball parm subs, plain pies, buffalo pies, margherita pie (probably the greatest one there) as well as pepperoni pie and I would gladly drive here and pick any of these up than order elsewhere. Overall, I've been ordering from here for years and will continue to do so. Stay true to your extra saucey, perfectly cheese covered, crisp bottom dough yet fluffy crust for all time M & S. I love trying highly rated pizza places on yelp. This place was a waste of calories and time. I'm shocked this place was rated anywhere above 2 stars. Number one it was a very dirty eating area. We arrived maybe 5 minutes after opening and we had to wipe down our own table as every single table was full of crumbs, grease soda spills. Probably there from the night before. I enjoy a hole in the wall feel, but this was gross. The pizza was not good at all. Way too cheesey . Garbage cheese, sauce was watery. Crust flopped right down and couldn't support a helium balloon let alone the mountain of water and melted cheese it had on it. The dough it self tasted very floury. M&S is RESTAURANT quality food in a pizzeria. They have amazing pizza. I love the thin and my family loves the sicilian. Their subs are fresh and tasty -- hot or cold. When you order a cheese steak the peppers are actually fresh peppers cut by hand (not from a can). Wings great. They do have a dining area -- but you don't go for the ambiance. Without a doubt the BEST pizza on the planet. It's the SAUCE (full of flavor and put on the pie nice and saucy..no skimping or ladeling it on in a thin circle) - Its the CHEESE ( you CAN taste the difference in the flavor that comes out in their cheese others are waxy and tasteless - when you comapre M&S cheese to all others you notice immediately the difference in the taste and flavor of their cheese quality) - It's the CRUST ( Flavor so good you want to eat every bite). I eat there at least 3 times a month and almost every time my wife or I look at each other and say, "This is GOOD pizza..." We get it by the slice and we also take home whole pies - in either case, the results are always the same - This is GOOD pizza. Their home made sauce really makes it for me and the fresh dough and fresh mozzarella are icing on the cake. This is New Jersey pizza the way NJ pizza needs to be. The "ambiance" such as it is, is a throw back to the pizza places of my youth. SImple, almost Spartan seating. Clean and functional - that's all - nothing more or less. MAKE SURE YOU ARE AT THE ORIGINAL M&S!! There is a Portuguese owned M&S ll nearby that makes the greasiest nasty pizza that I ever had. The original M&S is a no frills take out pizza place that has been in business for more than 40 years. The pizza is to die for. There has to be 8oz of sauce and nearly 1lb of cheese on each pie. Nobody and I mean nobody makes a Sicilian pizza like these guys!!! Must tries include the ham calzone its extraordinary. Additionally, these guys were toasting their Italian Combo sub before there was a Quiznos or Subway in NJ. If you are a sub fan, please try the Italian combo sub.
