On top of that, everyone I've dealt with there has been genuinely nice, professional, and easy to work with. I don't think service gets any better than what I received from Bob…read more We just bought a new RV in Grass Valley and flat towed our Subaru Forrester from there to Salinas no problems. Then we drove the car maybe 10 miles and noticed that when I engaged the clutch it would stop the car. I knew it had to do with the tow brake we had installed which is a cable that runs from the bumper to the pedal. So I called Bob who at first said he couldn't get to us until Sunday (This is Thursday) and when I told him we were trying to leave Salinas Sunday he got us in that day at 2. Get a call around 11 from Bob saying he's on his way. Bob gets here and looks at what's going on and takes the time to watch multiple videos on YouTube to understand the project. An adjustment to the breakaway lock by placing it 1/4 of an inch back took care of my problem and he only charged the initial fee. I can't recommend this gentleman enough if you want an honest mechanic with a great ethic.

Each of them telling my brakes were fine. Alex and Jim listened to my concerns let me ride with them to explain the noise and did in fact find the problem. At the same time I had another car after getting brakes somewhere else, then told I needed told I needed axle and wheel bearings and also a new transmission. I went straight to them who let me know none of that was required. That was December 2024. I have now taken 4 different cars to them. They listen and are honest, the price is under dealer prices but the work is quality of the dealership. Unfortunately, the other shop gave me very few answers. I paid $305 for the diagnosis, but the report I received from the other shop was extremely basic. They also didn't give me a list of the parts that needed to be replaced, a breakdown of the labor costs, or much of an explanation of how they came to the conclusion that I needed a $4,800 repair. When I asked for more information, they were irritated with me and very dismissive. When I went to CARS, the experience was completely different. Michelle, the Office Manager, has been wonderful. She is extremely knowledgeable about automotive repairs, but more importantly, she knows how to explain things in a way that makes sense to someone who isn't a mechanic. She genuinely wants her customers to understand what's going on with their vehicle and feel comfortable with their options. I never felt rushed, talked down to, or pressured. At CARS, asking questions is welcomed, and you're treated with patience and respect. I'm extremely grateful to Michelle and CARS for their patience, kindness, and willingness to help. It's refreshing to find a repair shop that makes you feel like an informed and respected customer, rather than just another opportunity to make money!
