It was definitely reasonable so I went ahead and got most of them done, and they even gave me some savings on the repairs too. However, just by random chance, when I took my vehicle in (to another mechanic) to get the drum breaks adjusted on warranty (as they weren't done very long ago) the other mechanic found a leak in my break line system. They said that my vehicle wasn't drivable due to the leak. I took my car in to a different mechanic to get a 2nd opinion on the leaking lines, and they confirmed the leak in the break system. This is a pretty big thing for Auto Drs. to miss. As a plus point, I did bring it up to the receptionist that this was missed, and he did seem to own the mistake; but this is something that needs to be thoroughly corrected, as if this shop is missing break line leaks, then they are putting drivers at risk. As a note, the leak was visible just by opening the hood, and looking at the component without any tools or equipment needed.

My recent situation was a 'simple' repair and upgrade requiring a lift, and a 4 wheel alignment. So I found Auburn Service Center by referral from my smog guy (Thomas at California Smog). Took my car in for inspection and an estimate ... shocker ... a mechanic 'building up' the repair costs? Rich tells me there are also some 'other' things needing replacement (a bent rear trailing arm and a front sway link). Rich SHOWED me his concerns and sure enough it was just as he said. Final cost ($398.15) was still below the $450 - $600 I was expecting to pay and it included the additional work. Bottom line is, I have no reservation using Auburn Service Center for all my future repairs, possibly including some I would typically do myself.
