We were in Joplin, MO and needed lunch for the family. M & M Bistro came highly recommended so we gave it a try. I cannot say enough about how great this restaurant is. First, ordering was so easy over the phone. I didn't know the menu choices so well, but the person taking my order talked me through everything and made it so easy. With COVID-19 restrictions, only pickup was available, but the owner was so thoughtful and brought our food right out to us and helped us pay curbside to keep everyone safe. The owners are so nice! OK, the food. I could not believe how good the food was! Several of us got the Mediterranean Platter and it was wonderful! The portions were just the right size for the hungriest of us. The lamb and beef was fresh, then there was the pita, the salad, the fresh tomato and cucumber, and the tabouleh and the hummus! All so good! AND - can't forget the sliced potatoes which are so uniquely flavored. The kids thought we might get some kind of fast food, but we're thrilled with their Gyro's. While it could've used a touch of salt, it was pretty good and I'd eat it again. The house salad was very nice. Mixed greens with feta and a little Greek olive. However, it was topped with tabbouleh, and I thought it was a fantastic touch. Entrees were beef kebab for my husband and the cabbage roll for me. Hubby said the beef was a little tough, but it was pretty good. The sauce it was sitting in was really flavorful (I know, because I dipped my pita bread in it ... Yum!) My cabbage roll topped with marinara and Parmesan was ok. I was expecting some meat inside but this was just vegetarian (menu did not specify). It was fine with me, but others may disagree. The roll itself was quite large, very tender, and filled with a rice pilaf - which was also the same rice pilaf side that accompanied the beef kebab. Just FYI. I probably would never order this again. It wasn't to die for. I debated on getting the Chicken Jerusalem, and now I wish I had. I think it would have been more satisfying. Dessert was baklava. It was supposed to have been a la mode, but they were out of ice cream. However, it was warm, crispy, chewy, with great oat texture and delicious cinnamon flavor. Man, though ... That ice cream would have been perfect on it. Ah well. Our server was nice, and the manager checked on us often. Restaurant was small, quaint and brightly colored. Excellent food. Very fresh and delicious. My husband and I got to talk with the owners who were friendly and charming. We both got the Mediterranean Platter as we couldn't decide on one thing. Best tabbouleh I have ever had. All the other items on the platter were delicious. We both thought the prices were very fair for cooking like you would get at home if you are a good cook.
