I had Tortellini which was great and my colleague had salmon that was absolutely delicious. The fried cauliflower was good but too breaded. The ambiance is nice here. We were recommended lyric kitchen from a friend and they did not steer us wrong. Lyric is a mood lit sports bar with better food. Our server was the most detailed I've ever experienced and ensured that our food came out exactly like I wanted. I almost always order a steak at a restaurant and am usually disappointed because I can make a better steak at home. Lyric is basically the only exception to that rule. read more

This place was nice and quiet. The perfect place for me to have some drinks and work on my laptop for about 3 hours. They have electrical outlets at each of the booths. I tried three of the local tap beers, and they didn't disappoint. The lunch special for the day was a 3 cheese grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque soup. Perfect for a 45degree day. I have eaten at this restaurant three times this summer while staying at the Holiday Inn. As far as hotel restaurants go, it's a solid place to eat. They make excellent cocktails and the cheese curds are yummy. There are a number of options for vegans and vegetarians on the menu. I ate the Vegan Bowl on two separate occasions. The vegetables were crisp, not soggy though I wish they would ease up on the stir fry sauce just a bit. The dish would also be greatly improved if they offered a vegan protein on top, such as edamame or tofu. The breakfast menu is extensive with many vegetarian items. Vegans will have a tougher time. My scramble was excellent and I appreciated their willingness to make a substitution. If you are staying in Duluth, definitely a place you can eat at and be happy. I fly for an airline and being a New Yorker we obviously know a good meal when we get one. This restaurant within the Holiday Inn has got their stuff together. The service is great. The ambiance is cool, quiet yet the TV's were showing sports games on a Saturday at 11:20am. The breakfast meal that I selected "California Skillet" was on point. The presentation was that of a high end restaurant in my neck of the woods. Not to say they are not high end because they kept getting calls for reservations. It's more the price I paid for my meal is easily twice that in NY. Very satisfying and highly recommend Lyric if you want to eat a good meal without leaving the hotel. read more

My husband and I got there before peak hours like 7:45 am and ordered. 5 other tables with more people were sat after us but they got their food before us. When we finally got our food it was like warm. They offered to remake it but it would be a longer wait because kitchen was now backed up. Nothing else was offered. We had plans so could not wait. Was visiting Duluth with family over the weekend and stopped in here for dinner with a large group. The menu was extensive with a wide range of food options and local beers to try. Our server was friendly and accommodating-- even though we were a party of 7 with some food restrictions and allergies. The ambiance within was inviting and upscale -- a friendly buzz filled the room with the bar adjacent to the dining area. Our table had a big plate of nachos to start and really enjoyed them. They came with a generous amount of toppings, but not too many, as the chips stayed crispy. I ordered a cheeseburger, side salad and local Lift Bridge draft for my meal. When the Lyric Kitchen Bar opened in Downtown Duluth it was a welcomed addition to this block of Superior Street and was a big upgrade in the former Porter's space on the Superior St. level of the Holiday Inn. This restaurant is located within the Holiday Inn, but if you're not staying there, it does not feel like a traditional hotel bar/restaurant. The restaurant is easily accessible from Superior St. or from 1st St. if you park in the Holiday Inn ramp. Pro Tip: the Lyric will validate for customers! The one downfall of the Lyric opening is that it also meant the end of Sneaker's Sports Bar which used to reside on the Skywalk level of the Holiday Center. Fortunately, some of the Sneaker's favorites found their way onto the Lyric's menu, including my personal favorite, the Firecracker Wrap. Now, the Lyric is a fantastic mix of trendy bar, sports bar and classy sit down restaurant. It literally has something for any occasion. Meeting you friends for happy hour after work? Lyric. Need a place to catch a good meal before the UMD hockey game? Lyric. Want a nice cozy spot to bring a date as part of a night on the town? Lyric. The waitress for my table was able to recommend some sweeter drinks for me when I asked about them Order: poutine with no changes, blueberry martini Edit: I don't have a frame of reference for the vodka, but the poutine is cooked well. Gravy is smooth and almost like the filling in a fresh pot pie (which they also serve), and seeps into the fries near immediately. While I'm not a big fan of tomatoes due to texture, they're diced and its refreshing compared to the heaviness of everything else. Cheese curds have a short shelf life, eat those quickly or they just become straight up mozz chunks lol. For the ranch connoisseurs out there, it's creamy and a little tart leaning closer to blue cheese but still works well with the fries. That being said, poutine did not need the ranch after all and it's almost offensive to the gravy to ask for it. read more

This place want to be fine dining so bad but it's not. When we arrived there was no seating so we sat at the bar. Order a burger took like an hour for it to come out ask for it well don't and it came out mooing. Most of the patroons there have a staring problem if your a person of color or out of town they can sense it. Very uncomfortable and pretty sad. Staff was not friendly until we started spending money then they started kissing ass. Pick another place with burgers you'll get better service and nicer staff and hopefully the patrons aren't rude. read more

Staying at the Holiday Inn, I was given a coupon for a couple of dollars off - if you are given the same treat - go for it! Overall the service was okay, the food was your average American food and the environment was relaxing. I came here a couple nights and the food tasted the same- if I wasn't so lazy to go out from my hotel area after a long day of work meetings I would have gone elsewhere. On their menu, above the appetizers, there is the title CAN'T MISS STARTERS. My party ordered two appetizers, cheese curds & the soft pretzel. The cheese curds were tasty. But then again, I don't think I've ever had a bad cheese curd. The soft pretzel states that it comes with a beer cheese. The cheese dipping sauce was the worst "beer cheese" that I've ever had. Imagine dumping a ton of cheap cans of nacho cheese sauce, plus adding an entire brick of nasty processed American cheese. That's what I imagine competing this beer cheese too. Keep in mind, this was the night of a concert at the nearby arena. It took over 40 minutes to get our appetizers and a few flatbreads. Our server was almost non-existent. Once our food arrived, we were never given silverware, plates, napkins, or asked for a refill. The spicy Thai chili sauce that was suppose to be on the Thai chicken tasted like BBQ sauce. Our server gave us a generic fake, "I'm sorry. As you can see, we are really busy." Just had breakfast at Lyric. I stay in the Holiday Inn once every few months and have eaten here every time I'm in town. What a great place with friendly faces, my waiter named Brian was awesome! He recommended the 'Chicken and Waffles' and wow were they amazing, probably the best I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly battered, not to excess and the waffle was light and crispy! Syrup drizzled over the top but not to much to make it a swimming pool of a mess! It also came with two eggs...real eggs not powdered ones. Perfect breakfast! Since it was my birthday month I also got a free desert, I got the crème brûlée. Was perfect as well! Definitely recommend! read more

This beautiful and elegant looking restaurant is located in the beautiful heart of downtown, Duluth, Minnesota. You can't miss the hustle and bustle of Superior street but on a big wall out front of the Holiday Center you can read in big letter "The Lyric." My wife and I were stopping here to eat because it was just so conveniently close to our daughters dance studio "Just for Kix." Now if you are at all familiar with the Duluth location you know this was once another grand restaurant called "Porters" before it was closed in May of 2017 and soon went under a complete overhaul, gutted, brand new light, kitchen, and bar put into its place and I can tell you the new look is so grand you won't forget it. You absolutely feel welcomed by the wonderful staff who work here, we were at a high top table near the bar, as we sat here we got the feeling we were probably under dressed for this amazing restaurant. The menu was vast selection classic Italian dishes from shrimp scampi to chicken Marsala. My wife went with the Honey Sriracha Salmon, and I went with the chicken Caesar Salad. Both items on the menu were wonderful and came out relatively quick which was great because not soon after we had to leave to go pick up are little girl from Dance Class. Our server was very kind, made recommendations for both appetizers and and drinks, and even though we didn't get anything other then our main meal we were very delighted and are thinking of coming here sometime for breakfast when we are in town next. My wife and I both agree that are experience was great and know when you visit here you will not be disappointed. Take my word for it, it's a place you can really take in, relax, and enjoy the view.
