    Lynx Lake Cafe, November 2025
    Simon W.

This restaurant is a hidden little place on the south side of Lynx Lake, just before the upper parking area. Be aware it is not open during the winter months. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is plenty of indoor seating, but the best seats are of course, outside where you can have your meal while gazing on the beauty of the lake and forest. There are plenty of seats outdoors with great views.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Yes, we all know the lake level is (ahem) not as high as it should be, but it's still a great place to visit and have a meal. The food is fairly basic, but does have some German-inspired fare including dishes with Brats and for lunch/dinner, you can get schnitzel! You can also get beer to wash down your German food, so that's quite nice. The food was competent but not perfection. Again, it's about the location. The one ding I would point out is that the service is slow. I am talking 30-40 minutes to get your breakfast. They have limited staff so I suggest bringing a bag of patience and maybe some snacks if you are super hungry.

Terrible customer service!!! When we asked about the wait, our waitress rudely told us it would be 45 minutes before she'd even bring us water or take care of our table, stated she was the only waitress, and that breakfast wouldn't be available by then--even though breakfast is advertised until 11:00 a.m. We decided to leave and find another restaurant with dog friendly patio. While we were standing near the parking lot looking for a new place online, she came outside TWICE and yelled at us from the door of the restaurant, to leave because the parking lot was for customers only. The parking lot was empty and only 3 tables were occupied outside. The attitude and lack of hospitality were unbelievable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So sad as the restaurant is in a beautiful setting and the atmosphere and scenery seems amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We won't be back!

Showed up at restaurant at 12 noon , we were told 30 minutes to wait, seated and hour later. Drink order taken, 30 minutes later order was taken. 30 minutes later we were told that the kitchen was closed. Two cokes and a water charged $10.00, no food served. Needless to say staff were rude and and service was beyond poor.

We had THE MOST AMAZING experience at Lynx Lake Cafe!! Our server was Kimberly and she was the best. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside because we had our dog and she offered him water and treats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The michelaea was the best I've ever had and the food was delicious! I can't wait to visit again when I'm in the area.

    Does this place still exist?

Yes it is still open. But, it is not at all as good as it was before the new ownership. It used to be very special and a place to go for nice treats. Now it is nothing better than Denny's. The staff is very rude, the place is very noisy, and the…

How long has the Lynx Lake Café been under NEW ownership?

I believe since January 2017, I have been there several times since then am very happy that it's still my favorite special place.

I had a terrific patty melt with a porter, but the real standout was the beer-battered onion rings. Special is the word. If you have even the slightest liking for onion rings, you have to try these--they're that good. Crisp, flavorful, and worth ordering even if you weren't planning to. Service was friendly, the food hit the spot, and it felt like one of those places you look forward to returning to. One of these days I'm coming back for one of their adult shakes. Good food, good stop, good eating. Bill's Pizza & More (Bill's Grill/Cafe) is worth a visit.

And the fries were crispy as well as I could tell fresh. My family got other stuff like fish and chips and fish tacos. The coleslaw was delicious as it wasn't too salty or sweet. And the the restaurant itself is a cute little place, but it's nothing special at all. I would recommend trying it to see how it is if you are new to Prescott. But I wouldn't recommend going to it all the time because it could've been better.

There was no wait, our server was helpful in providing recommendations and our food came out so fast. The decor of the indoor dining was so cute and the theme of everything was on point. They are so uncomfortable and it's the first thing I noticed. The food made up for it but getting seating down is really important, and I promise you can make the place still look eclectic and unique by replacing them rather than put your paying customers through pain while eating (I couldn't get pain out my head while eating and my date and I fought over who got the real seat with a straight back). The couches can stay but those chairs suck. The place is fun, different, English -- definitely, and kinda weird, which I actually like. But those chairs man......... how can someone eat and not have back pain in them? I'm very open and honest so I hope you take this with feedback well. I'll try again once those are fixed -- promise! Everything else is cool. I love the books, the fish n chips weren't bad , but your portions are small. I think your prices were a bit expensive and expensive for what you get. The crisp dessert was cool and delicious. Service was very fast.

First and damn we didn't get servers name -she was great. We ordered chips and salsa which looked to tomato based but it was still delicious. We also ordered the mussels w Parmesan (rich and delicious), the salmon tacos -large, the Beef and garlic, and the shisito peppers. The shishito peppers were unusual, slightly sweet and had other vegetables. The salmon tacos were a generous portion, the beef and garlic contained large pieces of garlic amongst the sauce for the chunked beef. The Parmesan mussels are quite rich and delicious. We will definitely be back.

We had a reservation and were excited to finally try it! I ordered the Chorizo Hash and it came out as a plate of ground chorizo with a very small amount of diced potatoes. I assume what happened was they batched it with other orders and mine was the end of the pan. It happens. No big deal. I asked the waiter for some additional potatoes as it was unbalanced and he started counting potatoes in my dish!!! He got up to 5 and then looked at me like I was the idiot... this is after we sat there for 20 minutes before he even took our order. We wanted to have a drink or two first, but felt compelled to order as service was slow already. We made the right call... food took a while to come. We also had Brisket Tacos, which were decent but not warm. The margarita had soda in it... a travesty. All in all the food was average but the attitude of the waiter ruined the experience. I had high expectations. We will give it a whirl again at some point and if that is pleasant, I will update this review. I just couldn't let this service slide... he was TERRIBLE.

Experience it. Learn from what you experience and take that back to Prescott. In sum, the food (while Italian style) was not at all representative of authentic Italian culture. The warmth of being in an Italian home like many establishments throughout Italy and the U.S. was not present. And the food! The sauce was amateurish at best - composed of huge chunks of canned stewed tomatoes than actual sauce. The chicken (in my Chicken Parmesan) was intensely dry and rubbery which tells me that the breasts we're made and then frozen. The pasta was regular cheap grocery store pasta. The salad - "Italian" dressing - tasted it came from a commercial brand. Lastly the service, was ok at best. No one offered or was even around to give us fresh grated Parmesan cheese or fresh cracked pepper in our salad. The bread served on the table was good and our Aperol Spritz was excellent. Overall, I suppose we should have expected this... ethnic food in a small town is far more "miss" than it is "hit" but I did appreciate how warm and inviting the atmosphere is. Sorry... I just want people who come from out Of town who have traveled and experienced many beautiful versions of of the Real Thing... this is not that.
