Horrible breakfast dining experience. Told waitress, we wanted to split an omelet. She told us there was be a $6 split charge. I asked if we just got one plate and split is ourselves, if we could avoid the charge. She said no. So I asked, being curious, if we ordered a side of toast and split it would there be a $6 split charge and she said yes. I also asked if my dad just ordered the omelet and I took a bite of his food, would there be a split charge and she said yes. She was serious!! I was flabbergasted. We should have left but we went ahead and ordered the omelet. Next we waited almost 30 mins to get our meal and when we got it I was surprised how small it was. Most restaurants that have a split plate fee, add more items such as extra potato's etc. This was clearly a single plate of food that was split right down the middle. I asked to speak to the manager (Jeff) because I could not fathom why they would charge $6 for that. He comes to our table, clearly with attitude and pissed off demeanor. He tried to tell me the omelet contained 6-8 eggs. I told him I did not believe that ... at most it was 2 (maybe 3). But I have seen 3 egg omelets much larger than what was got. All he did was repeat that there was a split fee. His attitude was clearly like, "if you don't like, don't eat here". He huffed off. I would not give this place zero stars but had to give 1 to write the review. I will never come to this restaurant again, nor will I recommend it. We were excited to show our friends this restaurant since we had been here several times before, but the experience ended before we even had the chance to order. When we arrived, the only server working told us there would be a long wait. She said she would not get be able to serve us and the wait was 30-45 minutes, even stating that she wouldn't bring us waters in that time frame. We politely told her we'd think about whether we wanted to wait. We stepped into the shade behind the outdoor seating for just a moment to discuss it, and before we had even made a decision, she yelled at us to leave because the parking lot was for customers only. The parking lot was not full and we were not impeding any business. Pictures attached. She also was yelling at us in front of other customers that were sitting outside eating. We fully understand her stress about being the only waitress on staff, but there is a respectful way to communicate that. Instead, we were treated with hostility from the moment we arrived. Her rude and confrontational attitude made the decision for us--we left and took our business elsewhere. A restaurant's food may be great, but customer service is what creates first impressions. This restaurant is a hidden little place on the south side of Lynx Lake, just before the upper parking area. Be aware it is not open during the winter months. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is plenty of indoor seating, but the best seats are of course, outside where you can have your meal while gazing on the beauty of the lake and forest. There are plenty of seats outdoors with great views.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Yes, we all know the lake level is (ahem) not as high as it should be, but it's still a great place to visit and have a meal. The food is fairly basic, but does have some German-inspired fare including dishes with Brats and for lunch/dinner, you can get schnitzel! You can also get beer to wash down your German food, so that's quite nice. The food was competent but not perfection. Again, it's about the location. The one ding I would point out is that the service is slow. I am talking 30-40 minutes to get your breakfast. They have limited staff so I suggest bringing a bag of patience and maybe some snacks if you are super hungry. read more

Wow, it's finally closed. This place is in real need for Gordon Ramsey and his 'Kitchen Nightmares' to come and totally revamp the place. It is so dingy, with years of caked on grime on the table and chairs. The kitchen must be 3x worse. We were expecting to simply enjoy an ice tea and lemonade in the fresh air. Being a hot summer day we decided to go inside and get a 'feel' of the place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]With an inviting cabin feel, I took it upon myself to hurry past the 'wait to be seated' sign and explore the front room to see if there were views from the interior tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was immediately excited for a great view of the lake with cooler temperature indoors than outdoors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Seconds later, we were greeted by the hostess who doubled as our waitress who rolled with my unconventional ways. Still yet, I apologized for indulging my curiosity before being greeted. We went from thinking we might enjoy a cold drink on a hot day to entertaining sharing some food. We are plant eaters and honestly didn't expect many options. We were glad they offered a Beyond Burger and other sandwiches that were rich with veggies. Not being fans of the Beyond Burger, we asked Jessica if we could get the Green Gobbler instead, a turkey sandwich on rye with fresh onion, smashed avocado and cucumber minus the turkey and mayo, adding tomato. We planned to share it with a side salad for only a $3 add-on compared to the standard included sides. She let us know a split plate adds another $6 to the tab and a second side salad runs $10 so it made sense that we should each order a sandwich instead of sharing one. She didn't skip a beat with all of our special requests. We don't like to be a PIA; yet with all of our questions we might be perceived by someone as just that, not with Jessica, she was relaxed with all of our inquiries and got answers to every question in spite of being obviously busy. Owner/Chef Jeff came out to ask us if we might prefer Dave's Killer Bread in lieu of the rye bread. We could tell he was excited about this organic whole grain seed bread so we happily agreed. He came out three times total to ask about our preferences including our choice in mustard (he had four different kinds including specialty labels). He ultimately created one of the best veggie sandwiches we have had outside of home. Served on hearty full flavored sliced bread, our sandwich was loaded with a delicious brown mustard, fresh mashed avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, sauteed mushrooms and fresh raw baby spinach leaves. The side salad was tender baby greens with ripe juicy tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side which we saved some as a drizzle for the sandwiches. Oh my word, we never anticipated that the chef would go above and beyond to prepare something special for us for the same price as the Green Gobbler sandwich. We suggested he add the sandwich to the menu. He said he will call it the El Jefe and that next time we are in, we can order it again. We were fortunate that we visited midweek at 1pm after the major lunch rush so the chef had time to be creative and the waitress wasn't too overworked handling every table in the place as it gets busy during peak hours. We barely missed the major rush and were coming in just as many people were leaving. Jessica warned us that there may be a wait. We were in no hurry and are glad we decided to stay. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The picnic tables outdoors offer great views of the lake and many are shaded making it quite comfortable outside as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Next time if it not too hot, we will likely sit outdoors under the pines. Jessica and Chef Jeff were surprisingly flexible and accommodating. We have ordered quite a few veggie sandwiches in the past and while we often ask for certain ingredients to be omitted, this is the only time outside of Chocolatree in Sedona that we were offered other items as a substitute for the omitted item(s). We are wowed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Please keep in mind the Lynx Lake Cafe is only open during the summer and is a casual place. We imagine the staff and the kitchen can get very busy[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A small place with a lot of seating, it makes sense that it might get overwhelmed with an influx of people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Having been a server in my teens, I am sympathetic to having too many patrons at once and not enough help to efficiently accommodate everyone in a timely manner. I also understand the inherent challenges of seasonal staffing especially during short rushes. If you know of anyone looking for a seasonal position, they have more than a few openings as of the time of this review in June of 2026. Patience and understanding go a long way. I read many of the negative reviews criticizing the service and the food. Honestly, we didn't have any expectations. We went to check out the view and were pleasantly surprised all the way around. We left knowing that we will stop again after the lunch rush is over and take in the scenery over a tasty healthy meal. They even have doggie goodies for those that have canine companions. I originally posted a shorter review and thought this might be better. My family and I went to Lynx Lake Café over the weekend. We had one of the most horrific experiences. After reading reviews on yelp, Facebook and google after the fact, it seems like this is pretty common. My stepdaughter who has autism has a certified service dog that goes everywhere with her. The owners knew about the service dog. We sat down adults at one table and the young teens/children at another, (they don't sit more than 4 at a table by the windows) where the owner then came and verbally attacked my stepdaughter about her service animal, screaming at her in the middle of the restaurant where she then started crying and her anxiety spiked. Mind you she had reservations about even going out to breakfast and we were so excited about her wanting to go! I should have read comments before going. 8 days prior they did the same thing to a veteran and his service dog. My stepdaughter is still having ongoing issues from the way she was treated. This is just unacceptable. The owners wouldn't even talk to us as we were leaving to have a conversation with them on how they treated her. The wife/owner kept walking around screaming 86 them they need to leave. Over and over again. I feel as business owners. This should not have ever happened. They should have came to the adults and had a conversation with us. on top of it all We had sat there for 20 minutes no menus no drink orders taken. Sat down at the table we were instructed to and waited for 10 minutes just to get a menu. A family member of mine has a service animal in their lap, with all the paperwork required to verify the service animals credentials. While waiting to be offered drinks our waitress comes over and tells said family member to put the animal down. ( never happened at any other restaurants we've been to and we've had this animal for years), we ask why because the animal is currently doing a task that cannot be legally interfered with. She tells us that is it simply a rule the establishment has. We tell her that the animal needs to be in their lap but if we need to we can put the dog on the ground. Our waitress says she will go ask about the rule and she what she can do. While waiting for her to come back this man ( probably the owner) comes over and starts yelling at my family member with the service dog ( whom is a minor) telling her she needs to be on the ground and that my family member is being disrespectful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He starts yelling so loud that he is getting the attention of the rest of the cafe. This is illegal, ableist, and plain rude.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They are legally allowed to ask, but they are not allowed to interfere with the service animals task. My father gets up to talk to him, yet he doesn't even apologize for publicly humiliating a minor with a service animal. My friend and I were camping at Lynx Lake. We hiked over to the Lynx Lake Cafe looking forward to having lunch. Disappointingly the cafe was closed. So we took a little break in the shade at their picnic tables. A man came out and very rudely told us that the public area was over there (across the parking lot) and that's where we needed to go. He didn't say what their hours were or the days they were open. He was absolutely NOT welcoming at all. I won't be back and I will be telling my friends & family my experience. It's very hit or miss, call ahead as it can end up being closed due to being short staffed. Links Lake Café review Well, my husband and I are in Prescott for the month of July. We are trying several Restaurants while here! This one was referred to us by our friends as having yummy food and a great view! First, they were correct the view is outstanding. It's a beautiful lake. It'll be a luck of the draw to get a window seat though as there are only a few. But don't fret, you can still go outside and enjoy the view from outside. And it's still visible from other seats. We decided to come for breakfast. My husband got a regular combo breakfast, and I had the Brekki bowl. Both items were great! The only disappointment in the food was we thought we saw photos of delicious fried potatoes. But instead, they served us tater tots! Not good. They really made my bowl mushy. Husband didn't even touch his. (not a dealbreaker, I would just order something besides them next time now that we know). I would say the menu they had was quite reduced than the ones previously posted on-line on Yelp. Now there's the issue of our Server. This gentleman was so non-interested in friendliness, conversation, nothing. He made zero niceties, never came back and asked us how our meal was. He showed up when it was obvious we were finished eating and asked if we needed anything else. We said no. Well...not now J - we are finished eating (I certainly would have imbibed in a second mimosa!) lol So then he set our bill down on our table and walked away. Not so much as a thank you or goodbye!! When he sat us at our table, I thanked him. When he finished taking our order I thanked him. When he dropped off our order, I thanked him. (my husband told me to stop thanking him) I've never had someone be so rude to me that I tried to be nice and appreciative to. I mean, everyone has a bad day, but this was beyond. My husband and I noticed the other two female servers who were laughing and chatting with their customers. We had server-envy that we weren't being served by one of them!! All this said, we will be going back in the next few weeks! However, I will make SURE we have a different server experience! My husband and I stopped in around 4:30 pm for an early dinner. We were the 2nd people to be seated at that point, so it really wasn't busy yet. We sat near the window facing the lake, which was beautiful. I ordered the Jagerschnitzel and he had the fried fish special... basically all you could eat fish. Both dishes were cooked well. The schnitzel was moist and lightly breaded, with a nice textured cream sauce. The fish was flaky, moist, and lightly breaded also. The curly fries were delicious, but how could you go wrong with fries?! The only thing that was a bummer was both dishes were very under seasoned and lacked flavor. 10/31/24. Lynx Lake 1. Toasted marble rye. Possibly Chompies bread. 2. Thousand island with taste. 3. Sauerkraut with a strong taste and drained. Possibly even grilled. But not a fresh kraut. It was dry enough to keep the taste without making the sandwich a soggy mess. 4. Thin sliced corned beef. Pre packaged but of good quality. Should have had more meat. 5. Swiss cheese thick enough to hold up to the sandwich ingredients with a strong texture. All in all a very good Reuben sandwich. The bread remained crunchy/toasty through the meal. Never turned soggy. The ingredients were in a good proportion but it could have had more meat to it. This is definitely not ad thick as your Jewish deli Reuben. I'll put this as one of the top five in the Prescott area. It came with a side of coleslaw. Freshly chopped cabbage not sliced with a very good dressing. Possibly canned but there are some good homemade dressings around. The whole place is a restaurant/bar takeout. And only open on certain days but well worth the wait. If lucky you can get a view of the lake and spring summer the humming birds. Just when you think places like this don't exist anymore, you find this rustic gem perched on a hillside overlooking a picture perfect lake. It's quaint with charm not just because of it's homey decor, but because of it's wonderful hard working staff that make you feel welcomed from the start. The warm feeling of family served up with friendly smiles and a view. Ok so the crab cakes weren't to die for, the generous bowl of fries and the choices of wine and beer made up for that. The type of place as a local that you could make a regular stop alone or with guests. A treasure for tourists and campers who are looking for a satisfying meal, great service, away from all the too peopley places in town. Oh my goodness! We've visited this place twice since they opened this year and it did not disappoint. Last time we were here we sat outside, but today we sat inside and had an amazing view of the lake and the beautiful hummingbirds that were busy eating too. Last time we were there it was breakfast and I had the Florentine omelette and it was really good. Today we were there during lunch after a 3.5 mile hike around the lake and had one of their German dishes, a Schnitz no 6 with a side of onion rings and it was excellent. Staff there is awesome too. TOURIST BEWARE! Don't go here!!! We arrived at 7 pm on Saturday and we were the only people there. Our first bad sign. The staff wouldn't let us sit near the window, no one there... Drink order messed up multiple times, took over an hour, food honestly sucked, steak wasn't cooked, server never checked on us. No sauce, $6 fee to split a plate. NEVER AGAIN read more
